Mezcal in Glasgow City

The staff are very friendly and helpful. I had the dorados fried chicken taco and also the Mexican chicken tinga tortilla. I really enjoyed the Mexican chicken tinga. Absolutely delicious. Would definitely come again and recommend.

Teníamos muchas ganas de probar Mezcal después de escuchar cosas tan buenas. Lamentablemente encontramos que la comida (y los cócteles) eran increíblemente sosos, sin sabor, y no lo que esperábamos, especialmente después de haber estado en México un par de veces. También hizo que mi marido se sintiera mal cuando llegamos a casa. No recomendamos.

Delicious food with very decent portions. Might not be the best choice for larger groups. Only 2h for a table of 11 guests. Slightly tight space and the dishes all came out in diffrent times. Some guest finished their dishes before the rest of the table was served.

First time trying here prices are reasonable. I pulled chicken dishes i felt a little let down was pretty bland but if you use the different hot sauces improves it. The mince and chorizo is really good. I got nothing to compare it all to as the only mexican food i ever had was taco bell. Would i come back yes. Where we were sat was annoyong everytime customers came and went it was very cold.

Mezcal is fantastic! We have eaten here a few times now, and we haven't had a bad dish yet! The food comes quickly, and the portions size is perfect. I really do feel the dishes have a perfect balance of flavours. No dish (so far) has had any one over powering flavour, which is exactly what you want from.any dish. The staff are lovely, very friendly and on point, the restaurant is comfortable, clean and inviting. Hats off to them, and the chef's the place is great, worth every penny!

Reservamos Mezcal como un grupo de amigos. Habíamos escuchado grandes cosas y estábamos emocionados de intentarlo! Uno de nosotros tenía alergias que habíamos comprobado que se podían acomodar dos veces - nos aseguraron que había muchas opciones. Tomó al menos 40 minutos para que nuestro pedido fuera tomado y cuando hicimos el pedido había información inconsistente e inconfiable proporcionada con respecto a los pedidos. Cuando hacíamos preguntas, nos decían que iban a ir a comprobar y luego esperábamos mientras atendían a otras mesas. Luego nos dijeron que con las alergias, solo podíamos pedir una cosa del menú (después de leer la ficha completa de alergias que indicaba que podíamos comer mucho más que esa cosa). Tener alergias puede hacer que la gente sienta injustamente que está causando incomodidad a quien sea que salga a comer y nosotros hicimos todo lo posible para asegurarnos de que esto no sucediera y, sin embargo, aún así sucedió. Realmente decepcionado.

Juan, the Mexican chef is excellent. Mezcal is great because of him. Some female waitresses could be a bit more client-centred and show us that they enjoy the job… Overall, it’s a lovely Mexican restaurant, we recommend it.

The food was decent enough, but nothing special. The music being played was too loud and it made conversation more difficult than it needed to be. Wasn't bad value for money so I'm glad I went, but I'm unlikely to be back.

Have come for dinner and drinks many times over the years and the food and service is always top notch. All the food is delicious, highly recommend the veggie enchilada and loaded nachos. Margaritas are great and always a selection of tasty cheap frozen margs. Staff are always super friendly and helpful. Best Mexican in the city centre for sure!

Visited Mezcal with some family on a Christmas Monday whilst in town. We had a reservation but I went about half an hour early and they graciously agreed to let me go to our table beforehand as it was free. I wasn't attended again at the table until I had to actively search out the waiter to make an order, no big deal! I ordered the margarita and it was great. Once the rest of the guests arrived, we chose what we wanted from the menu and once again we were not attended after quite a while had passed so I had to actively catch the waiter's attention once again, irking a little more than the first time! The food was quick, I had a pork taco and really enjoyed it! Others at the table had taquitos but were not a fan, particularly of the chorizo ones that had little chorizo. For paying, we signalled the waiter who was quick to bring the bill but was slow again to come charge us and we had to catch his attention one last time before heading out Overall, I think this place is nice and probably would have given it a higher rating if the service had been more efficient. Everyone was pleasant, can't fault them at all in that respect but their table service could do with some improvements.

Tenía muchas ganas de probar este restaurante y reservamos para mi cumpleaños. Lamentablemente la experiencia fue decepcionante. El servicio no fue especialmente amable y parecía que las mesas más grandes se les dio toda la prioridad y mesas más pequeñas como la nuestra ignorada. Teníamos los nachos cargados que eran muy buenos, pero los tacos pastores tenían cerdo muy masticable que no podía comer. Mis maridos tiraban de burrito de cerdo estaba seco y soso. La margarita estaba medio llena y el vaso era muy pequeño. Nuestra mesa estaba justo al lado de una mesa grande y cuando el servidor estaba al final de su mesa ella tenía su parte inferior en mi cara y golpeando mi vaso - realmente no es agradable. Aunque noté que era mi cumpleaños en la reserva no hubo ningún intento de hacer que se sintiera como una ocasión especial.

Esta fue nuestra segunda visita y la habíamos dejado demasiado tiempo, no volveremos a cometer ese error. Es un pequeño pero perfecto restaurante mexicano con variados platillos y amable personal servicial. Los nachos eran un entrante de tamaño muy saludable, seguimos con taquitos de pollo que estaban llenos de relleno y verdaderamente deliciosos, probé sopas de chorizo por primera vez y quedé encantado con ellos. Las margaritas eran encantadoras también. 60 libras para el almuerzo en el centro de la ciudad es una buena relación calidad-precio también. Hasta pronto.

Went in for their lunchtime BOGOF taco deal – two tacos with one free. Couldn’t resist the Cochinita Pibil, £10.80, one of my favs from Mexico, so the bar was set pretty high. Packed with plenty of tender meat. The pineapple added a good sweet balance. Corn tortilla was spot on – you don’t see that everywhere here, so big thumbs up for that. Of course, had to add a dash of Cholula for a bit of heat but without that it wasn’t the most flavourful taco I’ve had. I still enjoyed it and the extra free one made a big difference so I would suggest going when that deal is on. I rate this meal: ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Visité esta noche ya que estoy en Glasgow por un viaje de negocios. Me encanta la comida mexicana y caminé por este lugar en mi caminata al hotel, así que decidí que aquí es donde estaba comiendo. Pedí la margarita de piña y chile, estaba deliciosa y como siempre, nunca suficiente jaja. Para la comida yo tenía las patatas fritas y el guacamole, y estos eran justo lo que uno esperaría. Unfortunately I don't have a photo of the food because I gobbled it up. I tried both burritos and tacos and everything was great. If you want to eat until you burst with a good flavor, order a burrito and I assure you that you will arrive rolling home. If you want something finer and to taste better (even though the quantity is good) order tacos. I ordered a michelada (a classic Mexican drink) they didn't have it on the menu and they made it for me. I am very grateful to the bartender.

Food: Couldn't ask for anything else food was beyond our expectations. Everything is top quality and quantity. From starters to mains. Service: Very detailed and accurate about what's on the menu and what served. The only downside is that the tables are not suitable for the portions served for the table of 2. Very fast serviced and friendly staff. Atmosphere: Good pop music Not too luad so you can hear the person seating within the area you seat. As mentioned earlier the tables are too small on the seating of 2 due to plates are served with big portions. So atmospheric feels a bit extra squeeze in the table. All in all great experience If you are down for a Mexican style option meal definitely give this place a shot but book in advance a bigger table . This place does worth it. your tummy will thank you later.

Probably the best taqueria in Europe! Their strengths: 1. The tortillas! 2. The tender and juicy beef (Bistek for my mexas) 3. Overall flavors (as close as can be to the real deal) 4. The portions! More generous impossible!

Really enjoyed our dinner. Food was perfection, Pico de gallo and the Chorizo Pollo Quesadillas were absolutely fantastic, although did have some other bits too. Drinks were also up to a high standard, will be back!

Super tasty food with decent price for sharing! It was my second time visiting and it’s still as tasty as I remembered. Highly recommend going in with friends to share the chips and guacamole, and the loaded fries. The tacos were nice as well!

Had to update my review as we have been a few times now but the last time was really a miss. Was so excited to try the birria tacos as they are such a hassle to make at home but the consume was so salty it was very nearly inedible 😅 also do not rate the pico de gallo the tomatoes tasted old. The interior and vibes are nice so I would come back here for drinks but would give the food a miss next time unfortunately.

I've been here a few times now and it's always great. The tacos are very tasty and very nicely presented. The guacamole is really good with lots of chunky bits of guacamole through it. The margaritas are definitely the best I've tasted in Glasgow without a doubt. I would recommend the smoke show which is amazing but we tasted a few different ones and they were all great.

Amazing food and margaritas! Perfect for a fast meal or a relaxed night with many margs. We were served by Sorrien who was great and provided excellent service even though there was 9 of us!

A wonderful restaurant with a Mexican vibe. The drinks were lovely and the food was absolutely incredible! And the bill was much cheaper than my friend and I expected! I will be back next time I'm in Glasgow.

Extremely good food and all fresh made. Ate every single thing as it was so good. There was a little mistake with the bill but it was sorted immediately and they were very apologetic so no issues. Would definitely go back!

As a Mexican visiting Glasgow I had to try the food. It was delicious, and flavorful. The drinks were also great.

Had a great time at Mezcal. We ordered both pulled pork loaded fries and chicken tingle burritos - both were delicious. Star of the meal was the frozen margaritas. Very tasty and will be sure to return.

Don’t normally leave a review but me and my nearly beloved boyfriend recently went for food at mezcal and left with a mixed bag of emotions. Once arriving we were greeted by two friendly waitresses, Once given our drinks and taking our order we were looking forward to the food but the tacos were good but the taco tortilla was tasteless and more of a small wrap than shell and when ordering we asked for Birra beef tacos but we’re giving lamb tacos instead. Personally the tacos came dry and maybe should be giving with different consommé’s due to the meat of the dish

Average at best. Dry, pretty bland food. Service is shockingly bad, staff seem like they can't be bothered and spend more time chatting to each other than serving.

Food was good but we were charged for our 17 month old Grandson which put a real damper on the day. He only had a few chips and £8 seems excessive for such a young baby.

The chef cooks just like his mama taught him back in Mehico! Slight concern on the hygiene (food and drinks served by waiter) as I had an upset stomach 30 mins after meal.

Loved it. Food was amazing and the margarita with mezcal is a must try. Plenty of choices and well cooked. The courses were quick to come out and the staff were excellent. My 11 year old son loved the fish tacos and was keen to try everything. Definitely worth dropping in.

I expected chilli ordered in a mexican restaurant to actually have chilli in it & not have to add shop bought chipotle hot sauce to it !! Fish tacos were ok but pretty bland hence the bottles of hot sauce on the table. The service was pretty poor but not the staffs fault very understaffed for a busy Saturday afternoon & had no time to ask if you were enjoying your food or not. Toilets were a mess & females do not want to use communal toilets after a table for 12 guys have been eating mexican food drinking beer for several hours. I have been in this restaurant before only a few weeks previous & food & service were much better but very disappointed in this visit.

Came here for a quick bite before the cinema at about 5pm. Service was excellent. We both got the tacos as were not too hungry and they were delicious. Want to come back again and try more things!!

I've been a couple of times for lunch when visiting Glasgow and each time I've had the same impression - well cooked, simple mexican food that's really tasty. The lunch deals are very good value.

We ordered the birria tacos, which not only were they not birria tacos, I’m 90% sure they didn’t even use lamb for the LAMB birria tacos as it tasted exactly like pulled beef. Was extremely bland as well so even if they got the order wrong, it still was unpleasant. The waitress serving us had sat us in a dingy corner of the restaurant and then completely forgot about us for 15 minutes after already taking ages to give us the drinks menu. I also never got any chorizo in my beef and chorizo burrito which, again, hardly constitutes good service. The straws were also dirty and looked half chewed. Will not be coming back. Very disappointing experience for a restaurant that is meant to be excellent. Go to Topolabamba if you want a Mexican meal.

they saved me today! running late for a train and only had a few minutes to get takeout, yet they were able to have burrito in hand in that time i’m eating it now and candidly its the best veggie burrito i’ve ever had (i’m from vancouver) shoutout to the staff for helping me out (and also filling my water bottle 🙏)

Visited before seeing a show at the Hydro, the food was very good and the portions were a very good size. The steak burrito was immense. The service was also very good will be back!

Came here as it was recommended by a friend and we really enjoyed it! The food was really good and we were pleasantly surprised by the price we paid for what we had. Taquitos were a good size portion, did feel full after it and the cheesy chips were a really good size portion too Can’t fault the food however the service maybe could’ve been a little bit better - staff were pleasant enough but did feel a little like the bear minimum service being given to get the job done Personally it didn’t put us off though, would definitely return!

Restaurant has a modern, youthful character. Music was playing and might be too loud for some, but it fits into the ambience of the restaurant. Food and drinks come very quickly.

Order the chorizo and potato sopes, very stodgy and lacked flavour. Didn’t eat very much of it. Unfortunately I never had the opportunity to feedback to the waiter as he took the plate without asking how our meal was! My cocktail arrived with foil in it too, staff refunded us for this. Some of the staff were pleasant and chatty. Other half had a burrito which was delicious. Overall, a meal of two halves!

We tried this place for the first time a few weeks ago! We cannot wait to go back. We turned up randomly and were accommodated very easily, which was lovely! The decor and the vibe were great! We had one staff member who was fantastic, very friendly and cheerful, the other staff members however, were much less so and we had to wait 30-40 mins for our plates to be cleared and the bill to be brought over. We didn't mind this too much as we weren't in a rush, and the food was fantastic. According to my partner, the Beef Tacos were delicious and the so were the Pork ones. the Vegetarian Gorditios and the Spinach and Potato Tacos were fantastic. We also had the tortilla chips and dip to start which were lovely. As for the margaritas, they were very tasty, if lacking in alcohol. I can't wait to go back!

My friend and I had king prawn and duck tacos, then shared the lamb quesadillas with consommé, all of which was great with the lamb option being particularly delicious. We both had a passionfruit frozen marg too which were delightful. The place is also very central (right next to Central in fact), had great service, and lives up to its reputation. Will definitely be back soon.

We have eaten here several times, the food is tasty and consistent & reasonably priced, they have a lunch menu that runs til 3pm which is really good value and includes a drink costing < £12. It was quiet when we visited this week, the only thing I wish they do is turn the music down.. it’s distracting and you can’t hear each other.

Decent food but I’m not sure what the paper on the plates is all about. Mine turned to mush under the wet food and I’m sure I ended up eating some. Seems quite unnecessary

Pretty average food and the guy who served us was pretty blunt verging on rude. It isn’t expensive though so probably fine if you just want a quick bite before a gig or something. Just hoped for a bit more.

They never answer their phone. Food is relatively authentic. Price is wayyyy over the top. As an American that lived in San Diego for years I know that this kind of food is nowhere near the right price. What you pay £15 for here you pay $7.00 in the states and you get better food. Way overpriced. Save your money and vacation to Mexico or the states and have a real experience

Great mexican food, but really let down by price. You don't get a big portion, while it is lovely food, it is very over priced and difficult to recommend compared to other offerings. I had beef chilli while my partner had a burrito, while the food was great but it was surprising how little food we got. The quality of the food was sadly overshadowed by the price versus portion size.

So being new to Glasgow, the greasy hair dude with the red shirt working on the 2nd March was so rude. We walked in asking for a table No booked Ok is there a chance of booking No Look at screen ignore us trying to the ask about take away Looked like a nice place to eat, but after this chap was rude, won’t be spending my cash here

Fantastic all around... had carnitas tacos (delicious and fresh), birria quesadillo (superb and ridiculously rich), and guac. Everything was spot on. Nice relaxed spot, loads of hot sauces to try on each table, quick service.

Went to Mezcal tonight, the staff were rude and made us feel awkward that we had the 5pm deal. The food was great but staff didn’t ask if we wanted any more drinks and also didn’t come back at all during our visit and did not offer us the dessert which was part of the deal. I loved the food but will not be back due to the staff.

TASTY food!!! Poor service, staff obviously on off day. Order a few plates to share. Unfortunately, waitress had no interest in us/helping out. We left hungry as we were a later booking and was told kitchen was closed after we ordered our tacos each. I think if we were told about the menu we would’ve ordered more and tried more but felt a bit disappointed and dismissed. What we did order was amazing so please give it a try but order a few plates! (Maybe we’re extra hungry who knows…) We will be back, hopefully a better experience and will order more delicious food!

Great food, served quickly. Decent lager on tap. Cocktails were okay but a bit expensive. Food was pretty cheap though. The corn and the chorizo taquitos were delicious. Staff were friendly and professional.

My waiter, Andy, made it a really welcoming and enjoyable experience. I would come back again in a heartbeat.
