Visited on Saturday 14th September and what a blast we all had. The bar staff had mint banter. Tony the DJ was fantastic from the minute we walked in until the minute we left. The bar lad I think his name was Tom recommended the black cherry kraken and wow what a drink. He recommended I also visit legends during the week so that’s on the to do list! Keep up the great work lads

Visited tonight -Sat 16th July 2022.Most pathetic "DJ" i've ever encountered on a Saturday night. Insted of just playing the music( DJ's job!!!) He seemed to think he was a one man comedy show. Problem was only he thought he was funny as he hysterically laughed ( alone ) at everuthing he said. Made a pest of himself with girls at least half his age asking them for kisses. So creepy that he managed to empty the place in the 10 mins we were unfortunately theres.MESSAGE TO OWNER in the words of Morrisey - HANG THE D J.... before it's too late

Not the same, much better as slaters , beer, style and atmosphere, lot of undesirables , beer was flat , don’t think I go back the whole area has changed, and not for the better. Shame was a good little pub before, think I’ll stick to my local than go to Boro

Me and a couple of my friends ventured to Middlesbrough for a night out because we had never been and wanted to go somewhere different. On the recommendation of one of my friend's girlfriends, we sought out Dr Watson's. When you walk you face some stairs which lead up to the toilets and you turn left into the bar area with the bar on your right-hand side. If you continue past the bar, you come to an outdoor seating area that has some heaters. The theme of the bar (as you will expect given the street it is on) is Dr Watson from Sherlock Holmes and it is themed throughout with nods and references to the books. From a victorian bicycle in the toilet to a full mural outside on the wall; from the contents of Dr Watson's briefcase to newspaper extracts, it is a step back to Victorian London. The theme is what makes the place so cool and definitely worth a visit. We went on a Saturday night but quite early in the evening so it was busy but not packed (which it soon went on to be). The building, like most in the area, appears to be an adapted terrace house which means that the bar area was previously someone's living room which explains why it is so small. We got talking to the barman who was lovely and chatty and made us feel welcome. The lads and I spent most of the time out the back because the bar began to get crowded when the karaoke started - to the point where it took me about 15 minutes to get out to the back past everyone. I would have taken some photos but as it was so busy I did not want to capture anyone in the photos but if you do go, look everywhere for different nods to Sherlock Holmes and get some photos to share. I would definitely seek this place out again for good beer in an intimate atmosphere. The only recommendation I have is to avoid a Saturday night from 6pm onwards if you do not like crowds otherwise you may feel slightly claustrophobic.

Good pub, nice interior, live music. Regrettably there is a 45 minute wait to get served due to the manager being too cheap to employ more than one server.

After swearing not to eat here again I ended up doing so the other day as my university friends insisted the food was nice. I should have trusted my gut after the last time I was there and received a bland dry veggie burger with no salad or sauce. They ordered a full English and the bacon was undercooked, they said their sausages were poor quality and the ‘toast’ was basically warm bread. One friend ordered a cappuccino which was lumpy and undrinkable. I ordered a tuna panini which was actually a disgusting tuna baguette which the baguette was soggy and warm not even crispy and it was covered in a thick layer of cheap minging cheese. The only good side was my pint was a good pour. Safe to say I’m 100% not wasting my money they on food again and I doubt my friends will either

My son and my husband got a bacon sandwich each. The lady who served us wasn't rude but not what I would day welcoming. The sandwiches had a full on slab of butter on which was really off putting. Not amazing 😕

Was excited to see it re-open . Sadly it must be under new owner etc. All food is the poor quality cash and carry bought in stuff that every other take away has . All cook pretty well , chips arrived a bit soggy , all bread items a bit chewy buns and pizza base, ie not th freshest . Was cheap enough to compensate for new poor quality .

Arrived very early for an outpatient appointment at James Cook University Hospital today and thought I'd get a drink and wait here but it was so crowded and noisy that I couldn't face it. I kept on walking and proceeding along the Orange Route I came across The Hideaway Coffee Shop, which was indeed hidden away behind the Rendezvous Restaurant and mainly frequented by hospital staff. Although a bit run down and scruffy in parts, I got both a mug of tea and a nice slice of Victoria Sponge for the same price as a cup of average Costa coffee. The cheese scones looked nice and homemade, while fruit scones had sold out. I enjoyed sitting outside in the courtyard area and arrived nicely refreshed for my appointment.

Terrible, never again. I ordered an eggs benadict, costing 8.50. I’m vegetarian and it wasn’t advertised as having meat (pork bacon) i wasn’t advised when purchasing and advised the young waitress that we wasn’t aware when the food arrived, she offered to remove the just the bacon and give us the remaining item, I advised no due to dietary requirements (halal). The waitress went back and spoke to the manager who advised her that I would need to purchase again if I wanted a new one without bacon. I turned it away and didn’t purchase a new one. I went back to speak to the manager. she was sorry and if she was our waitress then she wouldn’t have charged us. I saw the young waitress asking her at the time, however the manager apologised and offered to give us a new eggs Benedict, I advised no, as we’re finished and had to head home. She said next time we come she would give us one - free of charge. I advised I would not be returning. Absolute terrible service. Customer service was appalling. Please avoid. Overpriced food.
