Slow service, poor food, dirty and sticky tables, pleased to leave, very disappointing.

Such a shame as it used to be great! Service is still good - but the food has gone downhill. The menu has been 'revamped' recently (and consequently the prices! Natch 💅). Menu is a bit of a Heston Blumenthal fever dream - consequently the atmosphere has taken a hit as its usually quiet. Used to serve good honest grub, the sausage rolls, sandwiches and cakes were excellent - all gone now - replaced by packet sandwiches at massive mark-up and artisan crisps.

Nice little café located within the Welcome Building. Good choice of sandwiches, crisps, and cakes. Some seating upstairs but they also provide takeaway which was ideal as I was attending an event in the basement.

I have been here before but will not be going again. It's nowhere near what it used to be. Coffee was ok but the food was tasteless. I wouldn't know what I was eating if it wasn't stated, apart from the pickle! My sister had some chickpea sandwich and found one chickpea! The bill was just over £20 for 2 drinks and two sandwiches that were heated in a wrapper in a toaster - never again.

Friend and I both had scones (one fruit one cherry) and coffee. They were both very dry and stale. Coffee OK. Disappointed.

Before the pandemic I spent a lot of time here, mostly drinking coffee and working in the sun. They used to have a few wicker chairs which were much more comfortable than the now rusty, hard metal ones. The drink selection has been reduced.. only sparkling fruity drinks today, coffee is still being served though. Cakes look amazing and always have done. The terrace is a nice spot to sit and dwell but the whole place has taken a step back. The staff need some training.. simple things like providing a knife and fork with a meal appear to be too much trouble. Give this one a miss for now, there are better places to dwell.

As a person with a dog, this cafe is ideally situated for our purposes. There are however, some points of concern. We can only sit outside, due to the dog and invariably find the chairs and tables covered in moisture/dew, or drenched in rain, which we have to either ask to be wiped dry, or do it ourselves. This should be done prior to opening,, so they can further dry/air naturally. We see many potential users simply turn and go away on seeing these sodden chairs and tables. In order to help, can I suggest tilting all the chairs on to the tables at night, (the drainage holes in the chairs do not solve the problem on their own, particularly if if rains). This will either cut down the amount of accumulated water or eradicate it altogether. Should this not be desired or sufficient, simply go out prior to opening and wipe all the seats and tables dry, you will get more customers and the business will thrive, I have suggested and seen this implemented this before when I worked in an outdoor cafe during my student days, and my boss rewarded me with a pay rise. Also, can tea be served in a teapot, for a hotter and more congenial experience, added to the fact that the customer would get a little extra tea for their money, its not a lot to ask for you to put more than a cup full of water into a teapot to help keep your customers happy. It is well known that during winter time there is a lowering of footfall in people sitting outside in any event. here I see customers turning and walking away due to the above issues, I am sure it would be turned on its head and improve takings by paying attention to my 'constructive critique'. I assure you that all other aspects of your cafe appear fine to me and I would love to continue my patronage. I hope this will be taken in the spirit it is designed and that it will be bourne out by these small changes in practice. If it is, fantastic, if not, then I am afraid, sadly I too will go to another establishment.

Been visiting now for a while, staff nice, best bit the real homemade cakes, best for me is the cherry 🍒 coffee cake and the price is good, let's hope they do not rise. This is a quiet relaxing environment summer and winter. Nice to have somewhere different than some of the over priced places near by. Kelvin Luscombe

This seemed very nice but I didn't think the coffee was very nice. I've had better but also worse. I think the building and cafe are a good idea.

First visit Good coffee and pleasant terrace Disapointed there was only one toilet for all customers which was almost continously occupied Given quite abrupt response that no other facilities available when I asked at reception desk Would make me reconsider whether to visit again

I have previously visited and enjoyed the coffee here but today the standard was poor a tepid cappachino with the cinnamon added prior to milk which had not been frothed. Perhaps the barista was new or needs extra training. I did mention it at the time but to blank looks no response. I will try again as previously coffee was good.

The place is nice and cozy. The staff is friendly. Good food. The place is ideal to enjoy in company with a pleasant chat, enjoy a coffee and read a book. I recommend it. The two things I found negative were a single toilet and the WiFi connection is slow.

Awful pizza. I wouldn't give to seagulls, for their own safety. Very little topping drowned in copious amount of cheese analogue (nasty plastic not-really-a-cheese) Nice staff can do only as much to compensate for dirt cheap ingredience.

We are 3 friends week at view hotel, went into artisan cafe ,bland grey cold absolutely no atmosphere, i wanted to get sandwiches from m&s etc, but heavy rain, my friend ordered, 3 sandwiches cheese chutny , 2 ham , my sandwich had hardly any chutny ,was stale bread, with pink coldslaw ,tortiller crisps i did not eat it , my friends said ham was ok ,£30 nearly. Waited long time for them ,wanted sausage rolls ,but even though was cold wet day no manager thought ahead that more will be in cafe, so DID NOT COOK ANY SAUSAGE ROLLS, they are hoteliers yes ,the whole lounge, is bland grey no artificial log fires etc, seating very LOW unsuitable for elderley which is most of view hotel guests, we have decided not to return to view hotel.
