Chi Eastbourne in Eastbourne

Walk past here all the time, slowed down today and had a look for somewhere different. Too a chance and was really pleased. Friendly, helpful staff and fish & chips was perfect. Will come back.

Terrible food, nice staff. Visited in July 2024 with family. I had the salt beef bagel which was terrible. The beef was just sliced beef from a cheap carvery with some salt on!! My daughter had egg fried rice which was inedible. My wife’s order of ribs had little meat on. Will never go back.

Tried this restaurant for its ambience. Not satisfied with the service as we had to wait for 20-35 mins per meal. Waited 30 mins for dessert that was being "baked". Cheesecake came cold and still frozen in the middle. Food was ok, service was just really slow.

They have had a restructure since my last visit and now market themselves as bistro instead of an asian restaurant, so be aware of that before expecting a vast array of asian cuisine. That said there are some very good dishes, the chi stir fry and the jasmine rice was very good as was the chocolate fondant and eton mess. Our waitress was srivani exceptional, to be honest we were going to leave when we saw the change to the menu but she convinced us to stay and pointed out similar items to what we had pre-restructure and was overall helpful and friendly through out the evening. Thanks to her had a great evening and will be back again.

I absolutely loved everything about this place not only I had such a warm welcome and service but also I experienced one of my best dishes ever. Definitely recommend this to my friends.

I recently dined at Chi and had an amazing experience. The food was absolutely delicious, with each dish bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. From the appetizers to the desserts, everything was cooked to perfection and tasted incredible. But what really stood out to me was the service. The staff at Chi are fantastic - they are friendly, attentive, and go out of their way to make sure you have a great time. It’s clear that they truly care about their customers. Overall, I highly recommend Chi for anyone looking for a great meal and outstanding service. I can’t wait to go back!

I recently visited Chi and had an exceptional experience. While I was there, I asked if they could make a Whisky Sour, even though it wasn't on the menu. To my delight, the incredibly friendly bartender whipped one up just for me. It was perfectly balanced and absolutely delicious.

The lunch was great, we had starter, main course and Desert all tasted great. The service was fantastic Artin looked after us very well. We did have a couple of cocktails which I can seriously recommend. A very nice experience!

I’m so disappointed at the menu change. Went from a delicious Asian fusion to a sub par cafe, we already have dozens of cafes in Eastbourne, why would you do this? Gave the new menu a go and was thoroughly dissatisfied, didn’t even finish half. Used to come here every month on payday, and when my friends visited this is where they always wanted to go. No more I guess RIP.

Have changed the menu.Nothing chi about this place now. Using new tech to take orders waiter did not know what he was doing. Got over charged but got refunded food was ok. No Thai food just a basic new menu very limited options

Booked for a small birthday meal after being here previously and thoroughly enjoyed the menu and food. However, upon arriving today we discovered the menu has been completely redone. It has had all its character and unique selling point removed completely and is now selling food you could get in a basic pub. Throughly disappointed with this as used to be an exciting menu, different from others in the area. Such a shame thay they have taken this route. Staff are still very friendly and the decor has not changed but i will no longer be eating here whilst having a menu that has had all the life drained from it.

Beautiful place to sit quietly to get some online work done or bring along family and friends for a wonderful breakfast, lunch or a dinner. Amazing atmosphere and exquisite service. Will definitely be coming back. If you pop in before the 9th of August you can make the most of a 20% off deal and pre book online can get you a free drink. I would recommend the fish and chips meal it was a generous size portion. Very satisfied with for my money's worth.

My absolute favourite restaurant in Eastbourne, such incredible kind and helpful staff who work so hard to bring 10/10 customer service! My partner and I always visit to celebrate occasions and have never been let down. Food is just incredible incomparable, everyone works so hard and it shows! A special mention as they assisted with my surprise birthday meal and went as far as decorating our table for myself and friends and even a personal birthday card! Please please never change, simply the best! (Clearly, would highly recommend)

Look can be deceiving. Decided to try it today with my partner, we had Korean beef tacos, Thai chicken fried rice and dirty fries. The fries were the most enjoyable thing we had. The beef was very chewy and the chicken rice was extremely salty, but the disaster was when I visited the toilet, it's disgusting, I actually got sick, not only the toilet bowl was brownish black, but everywhere I looked (toilet seat, sink, air drier, walls and floors) were all full of dust and mould. If I had went to the toilet prior to eating, I would never have eaten there. We spoke to the manager about it who listened and agreed, but said his shift only started half an hour ago, so he did not check. There were many staff available roaming around not knowing what to do. Only one other table with 2 customers, so they were not busy at all. I would not recommend going there and I wont be going there ever again.

The food was bland, the service was terrible, got two orders wrong didn’t say that the later curry didn’t come with rice. Only 1 server so the wait time was incredibly long. Terrible experience, would not recommend

The food was absolutely delicious, possibly the best Katsu Curry and egg fried rice I have ever had. The staff were so friendly and attentive. We dined at a quiet period so there was not many other diners around so unable to comment on the atmosphere in any detail but the decor was perfect.

3 tempura prawns and a tub of no flavour egg rice for 10£. No soy sauce or Wasabi. The waitress said it was mix and match although I couldn't choose more than the prawn. Should've walked out then tbh.

What a joy, our 1st time visiting here and we were greeted at the door by a lovely lady with the brightest smile, who took us to our table and was our table staff for the duration, her name was Ayla. We had the set 3 course menu and every bite was delicious, piping hot and presented beautifully. ( pictures added). Ayla was very attentive and made us very welcome, checking in on us after every course, she is definately a credit to your restaurant aswell as your chef of the day, We will definately be back and recommending to friends. Even my sauce was smiling 😁

Me and my wife just had very nice meal at Chi in The arndale centre in eastbourne Ayla our table staff was a very plesant and helpful the food was great and there was a nice atmosphere to.Very tasty food and good coffee.

If anyone wonders why its always empty- I will explain now..... the staff have no idea what they are serving, 1.we asked for teriyaki chicken- the waiter looked very surprised and questioned if it was even on the menu. Yes its absolutely is, we had to point it out. 2. The 12 hour beef short rib requires a chain saw to get through the old boot. Hopefully if you choose to have that main you have a strong set of dentures in. 3. Upon return the short rib, I was offered a 50% reduction on the plate- despite not eating any of it and returning it. 4. We had a 10% discount to use as new customers- upon receipt the waiter told us he could not apply the discount and made up some elaborate lie as to why and how the sister restuant upstairshad the manager in and noone was availableto talk to us tonight. Boring. He finally gave us the 10% and we paid and left..... now looking at the receipt, we can see He added a creamy 12.5% service charge to cover the discount that was owed. Exspensive - microwave food bad service- the full monty Beware! Scammers!

Beautiful food, the flavours are just sensational. Momith was so friendly and welcoming. Can't wait to come back.

Just went and had the crispy duck which I really wanted but very expensive at 16.95. First i was barked at by not waiting by the stand which i was. Sat down he took so long so long to come back to me i tried to give my whole order i nearly walked out and how i wished i had done. Got my drink ordered the food crispy duck with 6 pancakes. Mine came only 4 pancakes but then the other two were underneath the duck so soggy in fairness thry did me another two fresh ones. This was the worse crispy duck i have ever eaten, full of cartilage and so chewy. I did advise the server but he did nothing. I quickly paid, went to the loo, absolutely disgusting, havent seen any bleach for months. Again i told the server, he explained he had only been there 2 days. Chi at 16.95 a service charge and expensive glass of wine. This was not the experience i expected. Never again. I would like a follow up of my experience please as i am not happy at all.

I’m not one for trying out new restaurants as I’m a picky eater but I thought it was worth giving this place a try, the server I had was lovely, I’m not too sure wheat her name was but she was very understanding and patient with me. The food surprised me, came out quickly and was nice and flavourful, I wasn’t too hungry so I decided to just have a chicken bao. I finished with a bubble waffle, I have a massive sweet tooth so the hazelnut bubble waffle was just what I needed to finish my meal. I will definitely be back, the only improvement I can think of them making is the song playlist, not my cup of tea, apart from that everything was great.

Great food, very friendly staff especially Srivani and Shanon. Quick service, Atmosphere and food was hot, tasty and fresh. Definitely rate this place, will visit again.

So disappointing. My wife is Thai so she was very excited at the prospect of Ramen noodles, Sushi etc. But she was shocked by how bad it was, the noodles were all stuck together, the Sushi cold and boring. I had a very mediocre Pad Thai, normally a safe option - but not here. The Server was very helpful and the service fast. Thank goodness. But then we were hit by the Service charge. In my opinion service charges are simply an opaque way of hiding real prices. Don't put up with it!

Unbeknown to us that the restaurant was out of any beef. This was only explained to us after being seated and looking through the menu. After making out choices we informed the manager of staff taking out order only to be informed that there were no beef items available on the menu. Common sense would dictate that all customers be informed of this before making any selection. After making a different choice of salmon, out orders were taken, only for the member of staff to return and say they were out of salmon. I mean…… really! Again, we made our choices from the very limited menu. When our dishes did eventually arrive, items from the dish according to the menu description were missing. No wonder this restaurant always appears to only have a few customers in. The food wasn’t especially unique, and very overpriced. Will not be returning. Very poor.

Strap in everyone... Thank you all so much for you kind birthday wishes yesterday and today. It was certainly a day to remember as it pretty much turned out to be a hilarious mess. 😂 I fancied going out to lunch for my birthday, and really want to go to Hoi Sum which was due to reopen on 20th March but has been delayed, so I decided to go to Chi in The Beacon. Long story short, we're NEVER going to chi again. Like NEVER EVER. Long story long... Read below... Having kids of school age, we HAVE to be back for school kick out (3pm) so our time is limited. First of all Chi opened late. They should open at 12 but they opened at 12.35, however it was only all chefs there as the front of house hadn't turned up. We were sat at around 12.40 by the already grumpy waiter. The waiter came over to us (not front of house but a waiter) and asked if we wanted drinks, so we grabbed a jug of water. We then said we'd like the three course set menu, he said they're not doing it currently. I queried that because it is still live on their website - https://www.chirestaurants.co.uk/_files/ugd/a911f7_ea60312bc16c41f984c95d2e6257d5c8.pdf We wanted the three course for £20 set menu. Starter Main Desert I explained this was our first time here and it was my birthday lunch so he said he would go and ask the chefs if they do it though. He came back and said yes they do it and took our orders. We ordered our starters and mains, and then we mentioned the desserts we'd probably have but would choose after the main course. It was quite clear at this point that the waiter didn't want to be there that day however. No good service, no smile, no pleasantries, he looked miserable. Now the food came out pretty quick, but they bought our starters AND mains out at the same time. This meant by the time we got to the main, mine was cold. We ate our starters and mains and they were pretty tasty. The waiter then meanders over, drops an Asian pancake basket on our table and walks off. I was expecting our desserts to be in there but I open this up to find a bill and two chocolates. The bill was for £48.95. £43 for the food and the rest for ‘service’ fee. So at this point the bill is inaccurate and we haven't even received our dessert. By this time, front of house had arrived and comes over to take the payment and asks if everything was okay. We'll, as you can imagine I said it wasn't OK and said we haven't even had our deserts yet. I then proceeded to tell her what an awful experience has been so far. See apologises profusely and says she will go and order our desserts. She also apologises for the delay in opening she was delayed on her commute, which is from London! Why the hell is the front of house commuting from London? We wait another 25 minutes and eventually our desserts come out. Both ordered bubble waffles mine with pineapple and coconut and Nicky’s with salted caramel. We start eating our desserts and after about three spoonfuls I feel a crunch in my mouth and pull out some compacted dried fat, the kind you get on the surface of a very old frying pan. Initially it was thought that this could have been the crispy coating of the Waffle but it became evident very quickly that it wasn't because loads of it ended up appearing. The some appeared in Nicky's desert too. So we stopped eating our desserts. Front of house came over to ask if everything was okay. I showed her the pieces of detritus, and quietly said how unacceptable the whole experience had been. I did say the food we had for the first and second course was nice but that it came out together and so by the time we came to the main it was cold. She said that's how they bring their courses out there, but irrespective that's still not acceptable. Again I mentioned the waiter and she said she had sent him home. It really was clear he didn't want to be there. I said there is no way we are paying for dessert, she apologised and said she would take 50% off the bill and remove the service charge. How is this place so bad?

I have visited the restaurant for the first time as it was suggested by my friend. But I would say I felt more than what he said, the food was really great and the service I would love to say it mind blowing and the ambience, the atmosphere was awesome. I really enjoyed here with my family and I would prefer this restaurant beyond all.

Food was just bad, stale and warmed up. Taste was worse than supermarket microwaved meals. Chicken was stiff and difficult to chew, kids didn't even touch it after first bite. Very pretty place however. Would not recommend and will not be returning.

I ordered the Korean Fried Chicken and Egg Fried Rice along with a Coke on my visit to Chi. I feel the price of the food isn't quite representative of the quality. My Bill came to £17.46, I would have expected a bill of no more than £15 for this kind of meal. The quality of the chicken was good, the Korean sauce was okay but felt it was quite dry. The rice was very nice with a signature flavour. Service was fantastic, they couldn't do more to make me feel welcome and looked after and the atmosphere inside is very relaxed and beautiful to look at

Really disappointing. Took my partner there for his 50th birthday lunch. Started by asking for their lunchtime set menu which is the only menu you can download online, was told it wasn't available as it was an 'old offer' very annoying! Ordered Katsu curry (rice was extra) and it had definitely been reheated. Very Dry and over cooked, almost impossible to cut let alone chew, which was the same for the kids Katsu. Prawn chow mein was ok, nothing special. The duck spring rolls, however were tasty - rice was also very dry. Sorry, won't be going back.

Thought we would try Chi in Eastbourne for the first time as we were going to Cineworld and it was close by. There were only 6 people in the restaurant which seemed unusual. Unfortunately we could see why as the experience was not a good one. The pad thai tasted as though it had been cooked in a bonfire. It tasted smoky and that was the only flavour present. Nothing like any pad thai we've eaten elsewhere. The other food we had was ok but not really nice. The service was pretty dire with the staff being unattentive and disinterested in any of the customers. We got our drinks and placed our food order. The food came and we ate some of it but it was not pleasant. We thought maybe a dessert would be better but our waitress came and took away the plates, leaving all the other glasses etc then rushed off and did not ask if we wanted to order anything else or see the dessert menu. We thought we would wait to see if she came back but she disappeared to the back of the restaurant and was chatting and laughing with 2 other members of staff and that was where she remained. We were literally just left sitting there. We thought we might see if dropping a napkin on the floor would make someone notice it and come over but one member of staff walked past it twice and completely ignored it, and us! That was when we decided to leave. I had to go and look for a staff member to ask for the bill. She brought over one of the pancake steamers and we added our cash to it and put it on the table. We thought we had better make sure someone came to take it as it had cash inside. We waited (again!) but the staff were back chatting and did not come back to our table. We decided to leave at that point. As we were going up the escalator to Cineworld, the cash was still sitting in the steamer on our table and the staff were still chatting. Another thing that needs addressing is the toilets. They are not very clean.

Just had lunch at Chi and it was delicious. We had mushroom ho fan and sweet and sour crispy cauliflower. Great food selection and the staff were friendly and efficient. Would definitely recommend.

Such a lovely addition to the Beacon I love the decor and the atmosphere. We chose to go here for my mum's birthday lunch. We were impressed with the service. The staff were so friendly and gave us advice on the menu choices. The calamari and prawns were cooked to perfection which is always hit and miss in restaurants. We tried the beef short rib for the main and it melted in our mouths. They even brought out a special dessert for my mum. We will definitely go again.

Very good selection Asian cuisine. Food was served promptly. The only complaint was that our burgers were warm to cold on arrival. Will be visiting again to try something new.

When I tried the cha siu pork ramen and chicken chow mein at this restaurant, it reminded me of the taste of the Asian fusion restaurant I used to frequent in Seoul. I could taste the richness of flavors. The staff were always friendly, and the restaurant ambiance was perfect.

Delicious food staff friendly and attentive

This restaurant only serves starters by the looks of the portions we received. The food was not cooked through, our daughter's chicken was raw in the center which was a shame as she waited until all three of us had finished before she even got her meal. The food was very overpriced, £12.50 for a chicken nugget in a roll without an offer of a sauce seems extreme. Both my husband's meal and mine were both cold, and our second daughter's nuggets were very dry. Overall we paid over £50 for a meal that we left feeling hungry still.

Good looking restaurant, mediocre food and extremely lousy service.

As of writing this I have been here 3 times with my partner and everytime it has been an amazing experience. The staff in there are incredible. Never felt uncomfortable or forgotten about. Always really polite and do everything to a T the food is also incredible. Never misses the spot and I could eat all the time there if it was possible. I highly recommend this place if you’re in the area and I definitely plan on coming back again.

Had the loveliest birthday meal here! The staff were super lovely from the start and went out of their way to make it a special night once they found out it was for a birthday! The food was delicious (best burgers we’ve had in Eastbourne!), we will defo be back, the perfect menu for a big group with different taste buds! Can’t recommend enough (it was also really pretty decor wise which is always a nice bonus!)

Terrible service, didn't get to attempt the food or drink for that matter. Was seated by a very miserable young lady, I say seated she may as well have spat at us. Sat for 20 minutes without being seen too surrounded by tables with empty glasses and dirty plates. May have been having a tricky day, the menu and food looked lovley just a shame we didn't get offered any!

Food was ok. Service was just so slow. At one point my boyfriend looked around and realised every single person was waiting and no one was eating. The family next to us said they had to send 3 meals back due to them being inedible and I think they had to wait over half an hour for their bill. One server just seemed like she wasn’t doing anything. We finished our meal (very mediocre) and so overpriced… we got the attention of this said waitress and so did another couple to tell her we wanted our bill. She just nodded and then we saw her do nothing and say nothing about it. Infact I saw her sitting down at the bar on her phone. The man that was sorting out the bills came over to us and said ‘do you want anything else’ despite us telling the other waitress we want our bill so it was surprising he asked that now we knew for sure she wasn’t doing anything. But yeah just took us so long to leave. I think everyone was fed up. Won’t be going back. I don’t understand how it’s got a 4 star rating to be honest

Had really been looking forward to dining here as the seating is spacious and comfortable and the menu featured many of my favourite dishes. The waitress took our order promptly and that is about all I can say positively. We ordered the Korean fried lemon chicken, but the waitress returned to tell us it was not available. We went for tempura prawns, the batter was spongy, so not tempura at all, and the dish was not cheap. We ordered a vegetarian chow mein, beef and broccoli with a side of rice. The vegetarian chow mein was basically noodles and a few slivers of spring onion and one tiny slice of a pepper. I have never seen a vegetarian dish so lacking in any vegetable. Really, we should have sent that back. We also ordered beef and broccoli with a side of rice. The waitress returned to tell us there was no beef for the broccoli dish, so we ordered chicken teriyaki skewers instead.These arrived about 15 minutes after the rice which was now cold. Our beef yakitori skewers did arrive but it soon became apparent that the kitchen was now using shoe leather instead of beef. The dish was so tasteless that it was definitely not worth the effort of removing the beef from the skewer or chewing it. We did order a couple of extra drinks during the meal, which did not arrive until we were under time pressure to leave. I hate leaving negative reviews, but when there are so many good restaurants fighting for survival, it really is a shame to waste your money somewhere that is not even trying. We visited on a Saturday lunch time and the place was almost empty. Now we know why.

The food at this restaurant is simply amazing, especially the beef rendang. It's incredibly flavorful and has just the right amount of spiciness to make it a delight for the taste buds. I also tried the ramen with Korean beef short ribs, and while the broth could have been better, the short ribs themselves were absolutely to die for. They were tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. Not only is the food outstanding, but the service is also phenomenal. The staff is attentive, friendly, and goes above and beyond to ensure a wonderful dining experience. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and made to feel like valued guests. The attention to detail and level of care provided by the service staff is truly commendable. Overall, the dining experience here is a true delight for the senses, with amazing food and exceptional service.

Lunch with my daughter. The pork and duck bao buns were delicious. I could eat them forever. Really friendly service and lovely warm atmosphere 🙂

Can't knock the food, it was very tasty. The teriyaki sauce was lovely, and the chicken skewers were beautifully cooked. The dirty fries were amazing. Just needs a little bigger portion size for the cost, or that little extra spark of flavour. Still, it's worth going to and trying!

Oriental Street food interpreted for the Instagram generation. The plus here is that not only are the dishes ridiculously photogenic, the taste surpasses what you see. Excellent service to boot.

I eaten here about 5 times now and the food is always fantastic. Each dish tastes fresh and has loads of flavour. Today when I went in the customer service given by the manager was brilliant 😊. The restaurant is also really clean and well designed.

Lovely! We ordered veg spring rolls, Korean chicken boa bun, crispy chilli beef and Thai chicken fried rice 😋 we even ordered the chilli and rice to take home!! Yummmmmmy.

Food good but service was disappointing. We waited ages to order and I had to ask a waitress to order rather than them come to us in the end. One of our mains finally arrived when the rest of us was finishing our own main courses which we really wasn’t happy about and when I asked for the bill as I was coming back from the toilet the young girl said ‘yes’ in a very blunt and unfriendly manner. Overall very disappointed with the service and experience as was very much looking forward to trying something new and different.

A fantastic meal for a festive celebration with friends. The Christmas bao was delicate & flavoursome, the Thai coconut curry was the best I’ve ever tasted & as for dessert, they tasted as good as they looked. This was my second visit to Chi Eastbourne & I will be back soon. Thank you for a beautiful meal & warm welcome.

Second visit and it didn't disappoint. Food was fresh, hot and tasty. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Very reasonably priced too (especially for the amount of food). Sorry no pics, but thank you for a lovely evening!

Awesome place - people have yet to fund this restaurant. Eaten Asian in Australia recently and this place blows it out of the water! Service fantastic- parking easy, great experience from chefs and front of house. Will be back - shopping in Eastbourne go there cocktail/ small plates or the full dinner date!!

2nd time visit, thought let's give them a try again. Since the first visit was a year ago. We went in for lunch meal deal on Sunday and asked about how long for food. Members of staff saids 25 mins and we mentioned we are in the rush, we have movie starting within an hour. Staff saids no problem ! Looking over to the kitchen, staffs was doing nothing as we told them we want our main course with our starters. I ended up eating my main course when the movie started, no chance to enjoy the food. Have to take my pudding to the movie. Bubble waffle was just a normal waffle, not the bubble. Food portions is big, but chicken wings heavily tasted like frozen meat. I run an restaurant before, I personally don't think you're under staffs. Just need a better organisation & training. + Service charge on top ! I honestly don't think I would like to come back and give It a go again with this service

Excellent food and service, only downside is you have to expect service to be a bit slow as they are always a bit understaffed - the staff seem to be doing their best, but there are simply too many tables for the number of wait staff

Delicious! Popped in on a whim, ordered 3 dishes between 2 and ended up putting one in a takeaway box as portions were a lot more generous than thought for a ‘tapas’ type Asian restaurant. Very hot and very yummy. We will come back

First time here and will definitely return. Food was amazing! Staff very friendly and helpful. Bring a jumper though as was quite cold in the restaurant. Overall a very nice lunch. Will return.

Came here a month ago and said it wasn't spicy enough- definitely better this time round! We had the lunch set menu and it was varied and great portions! They made a veggie red curry for me which was amazing. Service friendly and fun as always.
