Dovedale Towers in Liverpool

I (20f) was being harassed by a drunk man and he wouldn’t leave me alone, was hugging and touching me up, when I asked the bar for help while waiting in the line they laughed in my face and did nothing, wouldn’t recommend this place they don’t care if their customers are happy and safe!!!

Great pub awful toilets. Half of the toilets didn't have properly fixed seats, some didn't have loo roll, some were leaking all over the floor, no hand wash or sanitizer. Revolting. Wouldn't eat here because the poor state of the toilets gives the impression that hygiene isn't their top priority.

Been a few years since been still a great place ,was a open 🎤 night on , great singers. Fantastic Guinness as well.

Came here for a Mother's Day Treat. Great decor inside, really rustic. Staff very friendly. Sunday lunch mostly awful. Chicken cooked lovely but veg including roasties were far too hard. I ended up leaving everything except the chicken.

Just had a drink and watched the football, no food although there were lots of happy enough looking diners. Unique looking building really impressive. Nice staff, nice atmosphere, dogs and family welcome, pretty scruffy / grubby but maybe that's the characterful look they're going for. Looks like significant money was spent renovating it not that long ago but it's had a hammering since, shows it's popular anyway so they're doing something right.

Incredibly friendly staff and cosy setting. Show the footy as well if that's what your into. Shame the drinks offering is poor with basic Heineken, Moretti, Beavertown options and tonic water on tap.

Family of 7 including 2 children. First impression was ok. We changed to a different table 3 times due to the draught coming through a closed door with at least a 2 inch gap at the bottom. We all ordered food , 4 ordered fish and chunky chips mushy peas . My fish was cold …..chunky chips looked like potato wedges cooked in the oven and almost burnt. New fish , I must say was really nice ….but once again burnt potatoes. £27:50 for a bottle of white Zinfandel, I know they have to make a profit , but I looked on line and saw bottles for £5:50. Won’t be returning.

On a Sunday, got there at 1pm and the whole pub had reserve signs on tables. We chose a table that don’t have a sign, Had a few drinks and friends came to join us. At 3 a man came and told us it was reserved from 4. I always thought it was a pub, not a restaurant. As a pub it’s great but it goes through highs and lows.

Pretty easily the nicest pub in the Sefton area, with a gorgeous interior, and a very respectably-sized beer garden.

I was impressed by how many vegan food options they have here. The only downside was the fact that they ran out of food so early in the day!

Great food. I just wanted something English, traditional, simple. Food I use to cook as a chef back in the day. I ordered from the kids menu to keep the cost down. Plus I was only there to pay and pick up a print, which cost a lot. I have never been there before and didn't know of its existence till I walked past to get to the print shop. Excellent staff. All around Great service.

Nice pub with prompt service and good atmosphere. Busy but there was still some space to sit on a Saturday night. TV screens showing sports events. Range of different size and height tables so there is likely an appropriate seat for either a drink with one friend or eight.

Food as expected for,pub food but the price of the wine is ridiculous for a pub. We’ve been to restaurants in town that don’t charge almost £25 for a bottle of house red - won’t be visiting again anytime soon

The ‘buy a burger and get a free bottle of beer’ deal is good value (this is Monday to Fridays). The beer garden is easily accessible and has lots of tables. I had the Salt-N-Pepa chips. They were really tasty and a good size portion however £6.50 is a little steep.

Food, staff & service great. Let down by the dreadful smell from men’s toilet in the eating area. Spoiled a great afternoon & a potentially great venue.

Few pints in the beer garden, one of the nicest spots this end on a hot day. Shaded under the trees and kid and dog friendly.

A horrendous visit as the chef refused to prepare food for one member of our party after we disclosed food allergies due to "contamination risks" in the kitchen. Doesn't put them off from serving "vegan" dishes however. Cop-out from the lazy chef. Allergy sufferers avoid.

Booked for an engagement party using the private function room upstairs. Was perfect...buffet food was amazing by chef Dylan and his team and the space itself comes alive when twilight. Justin and all the staff looked after us. Such a great memory! Would definitely recommend...

Celebrated our neice First Holy Communion. Great spot. Had an area to ourselves. Also had the outside space. Food was great. Lots of it and lots of choice. Daniel was a great help and never stopped from when we got there. Recommended.

So I just got robbed paid £19.50 for a vegan fish and chips and a bottle of old mount cider. The "fish" was a frozen store bought vegan fish fillet, the chips were from a frozen bag of McCains chips and the mushy peas and tarter sauce came out of a can. whatever happened to the beautiful banana blossom fish with home cooked chips with fresh home made mushy peas and tater sauce. I reckon the entire dish cost them £2 maximum to make. Lets just say I won't be going there again.

Loved the original fixtures, makes you look up the history of the place. Lovely friendly atmosphere. Dogs are allowed.

The most original Sunday Roast ever full marks

I want so much for this place to be good but every time I come it disappoints, it was always my local growing up and is great for a drink, but the food really lets it down. Recently we came here and waited 50 minutes for food, when it came out it was cold - another of our tables fish was still frozen in the middle, salt and pepper chips are just chips in sweet chilli sauce - and the cost is the worst part! Charging high end prices for poor quality food is not on.

Staff are great. Good selection of beers and food. Great pub to spend an afternoon/evening in. Nice atmosphere.

Previously the chicken dinner was the BEST roast I’ve ever ate out!!! Came with half a chicken; skin was delish. Unfortunately, during our last visit It came with unseasoned chicken breast - tasted and had the texture of the frozen ones you get. So disappointing considering the price of it. Probably wouldn’t go back there now.

Came for brunch on a Saturday around midday. Initially thought we'd missed breakfast serving as all we could see was menus for food 12-8pm. Asked at the bar and were informed breakfast still being served so just asked for 3 full English. A bit shocked to be charged £45!! Foolishly didn't question it but later tracked down a breakfast menu and confirmed it was indeed £15 a head for a breakfast. Coffee / tea / juice was included, bit still.... £15!! Feel like they might have deliberately hidden the breakfast menus?! When it arrived it was a bit underwhelming... Sausages had clearly been pre-cooked then warmed up. Eggs were a little overdone. Massive grilled tomato basically took up a third of the plate - I like tomatoes so didn't mind very much, but if you don't like them, it's a huge chunk of your breakfast wasted. Plus points: hash brown fingers and crispy bacon were spot on. Minus points: hard egg, warmed up sausage, underdone toast. I've been to a couple of fancy hotels in the city centre where they charge around £15-£17 for breakfast but that includes not only a cooked breakfast but cereal, fruit etc. I would have overall been happy had I paid about £7 per head for this breakfast but it just wasn't worth £15, and we left feeling we'd been taken advantage of.

I was having a day trip out with friends and we were visiting Penny Lane, so the Dovedale Towers was a welcome treat. We arrived just after opening time and not knowing it was derby day with a 12.30pm kick off, we were surprised at all the number of reserved tables inside. Clearly a popular sports pub with lots of TVs dotted around. Anyway, it was a lovely day and we were quite happy sat outside where there is a large and pleasant seating area. The bar staff were really obliging and even when under pressure due to everyone arriving to watch the match they made me a coffee and got drinks for my friends. There was a good menu with lots of choice and of course, it is in a nostalgic and popular location with a good car park.

Went for a Sunday lunch. Completely forgot about our order after waiting almost an hour it arrived. Roasts undercooked. Ordered deserts and that was another 45 minute wait. Not be back again after so many previous visits.

We got told to wait at the door while someone cleaned a table for us then got shouted at by a woman, who wasn't even wearing a mask, not to stand there even though we'd just been TOLD to stand there by someone else.Every single other member of staff had their masks pulled down around their chins and there was virtually no social distancing but we get shouted at for standing at the door? Despite being told to wait there?I work in the industry and I completely empathise and understand that it was busy but not one person even smiled at us. Staff were just so unfriendly, made us feel totally unwelcome and like we were inconveniencing them by just being there.

No exaggeration, potentially the best chips I’ve ever tasted. Pie was boss too. Really quick and efficient drinks service. A mistake was made on one order but quickly resolved. Good selection of beers too.

Bouncers were aggressive and inappropriate, they screamed in girls’ faces and pushed them for no clear reason. They did not act professionally whatsoever. We were sat on a nearby table to witness this and were appalled by their behaviour.

Please keep in mind that I love this pub and I was really upset that I feel I can’t return! There was a bouncer, who is white, around 5”11 and bald, who was absolutely awful. He shouted girls faces and shoved a girl multiple times....

Food was nice, ordering was complicated for some. You had to QR scan the menu which was complicated for the older generation who didn’t have smart phones. The lady who welcomed us was a bit forceful on getting all the guests to covid scan us...

Finally got the courage to go for a drink after the pubs reopened their outdoor seating. Got literally shouted at by a very rude staff member to scan the NHS app, since we had only one phone between us, he then proceeded to bring us a contact form in the rudest manner. Told us to sit down as he would be just a minute. Waited forever to be served, other couples left without their drinks in great frustration, so we ended up leaving without our drinks too. I have been going to the Dovedale for years, never have I been treated like this, and I won't be returning. To sum it up, we can drink the same drinks at home and even cheaper. The reason we go to the pub is for the atmosphere, and in this case, there was none.

I have just left The Dovedale ‘Dovey’ Towers. I had a delightful Cheese Toastie and a couple of beautiful pints of Heineken. The customer service couldn’t have been better. Safe and efficient at all times. High praise to the staff, one in particular who dealt with a ‘difficult’ child with humour and good grace. Well done. Will be back.

The tall man serving was so passive aggressive and patronising I won’t be returning. Horrible service and a long wait for underwhelming food and questionable drinks. I’ve been going here for many years and would have put food and drinks down to an off day, but this man was so unpleasant we left without finishing. Used to be a great pub. Such a shame. Lots of better alternatives in the area with nice staff.

Nos encanta estar aquí, es tan relajado y acogedor con excelentes bebidas y un personal realmente servicial y eficiente. Nuestra primera visita para un almuerzo en un pub hoy, la comida fue buena y llegó rápidamente, pero los entrantes y los platos principales se llevaron juntos y todo en cajas de cartón enviaron los platos principales hasta que terminamos con nuestros entrantes y aguantamos hummus, etc.en una caja de cartón como pensé. esto puede estar relacionado con el covid o porque comimos afuera, pero no fue una experiencia agradable. A otros comensales puede que no les importe que les sirvan la comida en cajas de cartón con cuchillos y tenedores de plástico, especialmente porque la comida y el servicio fueron buenos, pero asociaríamos esto con una comida para llevar, no una comida para sentarse, con suerte, todo es reciclable. Un buen lugar para traer a tu perro, pero la cena es demasiado informal para nosotros.

Reservado para un grupo de 4 para la hora del té. Salimos todos por primera vez, así que estábamos un poco nerviosos. Para cuando llegamos a nuestros asientos, ¡estaba extremadamente ansioso! La sensación del pub estaba mal. Una botella de desinfectante de manos que se dejó a un lado cuando llegamos fue la única evidencia de que se estaban siguiendo los procedimientos. Nos dijeron que hiciéramos una larga cola para pedir nuestras bebidas. El piso estaba marcado a intervalos de 1 m, ¡pero creo que yo era la única persona que los usaba! El personal del bar casi parecía tener algo más que hacer en lugar de atender a los clientes. El personal trajo nuestras bebidas, sin máscaras ni EPP. Luego tuvimos que hacer cola nuevamente para pedir nuestra comida. La comida era buena a pesar de ser un menú limitado. El servicio simplemente no estaba bien. ¡Los baños estaban desordenados y tenías que levantar la botella de lavado de manos para exprimirla!Aprecio que puedo ser un poco más cauteloso, pero simplemente no fue una buena experiencia. Por el contrario, fuimos a otro lugar local, la casa del perro, y fue todo lo que esperaba en términos de seguridad.¿No es de extrañar que haya un pico de corona en el sur de Liverpool?

Llamado para tomar una cerveza tranquila el domingo por la noche fuera del encierro. El pub estaba tranquilo, pedimos nuestras bebidas y nos dijeron que nos llevarían las bebidas, nos sentamos durante 5 a 10 minutos viendo al personal hablar entre ellos, así que mi amigo volvió a preguntar si podíamos tomar nuestras bebidas. "Sí, te dije que te sentaras, los traeremos", le dijeron. Luego sirvieron las bebidas y se sentaron en la barra durante otros 5 minutos mientras seguían charlando, y finalmente las trajeron sin disculparse. Luego pedimos una segunda bebida con un barman alto de cabello oscuro que me saludó con una inclinación de cabeza y sin palabras, yo pedí mis bebidas y él extendió su mano para pagar, todavía sin palabras solo una mirada que me hizo sentir muy incómodo y las bebidas no deseadas fueron traídas sin esperar, sino simplemente puestas sobre la mesa sin cortesías. Luego nos fuimos y fuimos al bar de vinos Penny Lane, donde nos recibieron con la sonrisa y el buen servicio al cliente que cualquiera esperaría en cualquier pub de Liverpool. No volveremos

Totally disappointing! Booked a table online about an hour before and walked half hour in the rain with two small children to be told the reserved tables are for those that reserved weeks ago and not for us who have only done it today. Why have the system and confirmation if you don’t support on the day reservations! Pub was heaving due to football so no spare tables so back in the rain for us. Not even an apology. Luckily had a lovey meal at a new local bar/restaurant that was amazing. Third bad trip to the Dovey so totally done with the place now, shame, but there it go.

La directora se comportó como una niña malcriada cuando se le preguntó si podía subir el volumen de las Seis Naciones. El pub anunció que mostraba las Seis Naciones y, como resultado, había entre 20 y 30 seguidores de rugby listos para ver el partido. Se le preguntó a la directora varias veces si podía subir el volumen, ella se negó y fue extremadamente grosera con todos. Hubo un altercado en el bar entre un cliente anciano y uno de los empleados del bar que le dijeron al cliente "si vuelves los ojos una vez más no te atenderán". Eran las 3 de la tarde de un domingo muy tranquilo y perezoso. Pésimo servicio al cliente obviamente alentado por la directora que está claramente fuera de su alcance. Traiga de vuelta al antiguo gerente y envíe a estos niños a clases de servicio al cliente. Si no les gusta servir al público, busque otro trabajo.

Freddie Mercury, sångare i Queen, bodde i ett av rummen ovanför puben, när han studerade i Liverpool. Det gjorde besöket här extra intressant för oss. Kul och varierande inredning i 1½-plan. Trevlig personal och god mat.Tyvärr frös vi, det var ganska kallt därinne, vilket förtog en del av nöjet.

Food not so bad always shows the football. You can usually book online but for some reason can’t no more which is a shame as it was always great booking a table for the football and having food at the same time which you can’t do in many places

Visited this evening for something to each as a family and certainly will not be rushing back. If this place had not been recommended by my son and his partner, I wouldn't have stayed. I appreciate that the staff are tired and at the end of a long Christmas and New Year season, they must feel in need of a break but, sadly, that is not how it works in hospitality, as I know very well. Each customer pays the same price and should be treated with the same respect! We had booked a table and were seated on a pokey table right by the bar. The bar area smelt very stale (a bit like vomit) We asked to sit elsewhere to get away from the smell.The food was OK, three steaks were fine but not well presented with steak, a few chips and half a grilled tomato. No skill required then! My son had a burger with a few chips on the plate.The whole experience was tired and lacklustre and it felt like it was all too much effort from start to finish.
