Always a welcoming place, good coffee and fresh honest food. As dog walkers we always park a few miles away and walk here, during the summer this is a fab spot mid dog walk. During our latest visit it was raining heavily, on arrival the “covid” outdoor shelter had gone and this cafe doesn’t accept dogs inside. We found one small patch of shelter(ish) and still enjoyed our food/drink. Can’t help but feel more dog walkers might stop here if there was some basic shelter from the elements.. we would have stayed for longer and bought more food if we have been under a dry roof… still a lovely place and just an idea for improvement.

Called in to see what Dove Cottage was all about having recently heard there was a charity tea room. Cold, foggy, wet day outside but warm, friendly and welcoming inside. At 12 we were only customers but the 3 staff on duty were extremely friendly, chatty and pleasant. Tea was served instantly and excellent sandwiches soon followed. Some nice stuff for sale including some really good cook and travel books. My wife spent 20 minutes browsing upstairs. By time we left there were others arriving and regulars judging by their comments. All told I'm glad we stopped by and will check out more about what Dove Cottage is and does.

Visited on Thursday 21st October after a nice hike from Granby. I admire the fact that all proceeds go to the hospice, but our experience really was quite forgettable. Average coffee, average cakes and very naff bric-a-brac for sale on every spare table and rail. Setting was nice, along with the kids’ play are. With the Marquis @ Granby doing 200 degree coffee and cake, CVV, Cafe Allez @ Belvoir, and the coffee shop at the Engine Yard, Dove Cottage really needs to do better.

We have regularly enjoyed coffee and brunch here and it is always excellent. The ladies (who are all volunteers) are incredibly friendly and always so helpful. In normal times the charity shop up stairs is always worth a visit. After a walk along the canal a coffee and brunch at Dove Cottage makes the day special ! Thank you all for such a lovely and consistent experience. Even in these Covid times you feel safe and properly looked after. Nick & Jenny

I visited with friends, we arrived at 10:30am, the service was good , we all ordered drinks and cakes, the scones were still in the oven so I had to wait a while, the cakes were disappointing and dry, my cup of tea was like dish water so I asked her to put another tea bag in, it came back looking more like tea but no tea bag.

I have been to this cafe and shop a few times over the last 2 years, firstly to donate items when my Dad passed away in Feb 2018, then when my Mum also passed in June of the same year. All of the volunteers were extremely empathetic and helpful. The cafe serves nice hot drinks and a few cold drinks, along with light meals and snacks, all for a very reasonable price. It's nice to sit out in the garden on a hot day, watching the birds in the hedgerow .... very relaxing. Well worth a visit if you are in the area, but bear in mind that it is down a single track road, as the priority is the Dove Cottage Hospice a bit further along from the cafe. Peaceful, welcoming, relaxing and all for a very worthy cause; what's not to like?

My friend and I were walking along the Grantham Canal and chanced upon this tea room at the end of our walk. What a find! It is off the beaten track on a single track road but is clearly very popular as there were only two free tables when we called at around 3pm on a weekday. We only had tea and scones but they were great and the staff were really friendly and helpful. We will definitely visit again if we are walking in the area.

Went to this place after walking along the canal for a well earned drink and something to eat. Managed to find a table and between us we ordered parsnip and ginger soup with half a sandwich, and a jacket potato with tuna and side salad. With drinks as well, the price was very reasonable. Went upstairs to have a look in the charity shop and we each came away with something which was quite good, as monies goes towards Dove cottage Hospice. There was seating outside, and a play area for the children to play on. Overall a lovely little place, very reasonably priced, something for children to do and with the bonus of a charity shop makes it a little gem. Will certainly visit again soon.

An absolute must in the heart of the vale of belvoir. This coffee shop/charity shop has everything. Character, charm and oodles of personality. Run by volunteers it's primary objective is to raise funds for Dove Cottage Hospice. This very successful tea room is very well worth a visit. Excellent menu choice from tea and scones to bacon rolls (the only downside hot food only available 12 to 2 breakfast rolls would be a fabulous addition), paninis, home made soups, home made cakes and scones. Some produce home grown. Excellent afternoon teas. Brilliant childrens play area, very family friendly.

Never been here before even though it is nearly on our doorstep. A very well presented Tea Room with an upmarket Charity Shop. I picked up a very nice piece of undamaged LLadro for £3. My wife and I called in after visiting the nearby hospice which was having an open day so people could learn about its role for personal or volunteering purposes. The hospice is a day care facility and guests do not have to pay. Consequently there is the need to fundraise and the Dove Cottage tea room contributes to this . We had tea and a scone which were excellent as the tea was Yorkshire and the cherry scone was light and full of cherries having been made recently by one of the volunteer staff. There is seating outside in the beautiful garden where there are plenty of activities for children such as slides, swings, and the like. There is also a charity shop above the restaurant which is worth a visit. Dove Cottage is certainly worth a visit and knowing that you are also supporting such an amazing charity is really encouraging. Incidentally I understand the café and hospice are always interested in hearing from potential volunteers.

The produce and food is good, but for a cup of tea and a bun, it's pricey for the area. The problem is the service though. Staff don't know the full menu and although we have marmalade every time we go, the staff deny that it's on the menu. Being told to take your tray back in from outside is also a little rude and a visit to a customer service course may be needed. I may not be able to go again after this review!

Upstairs is a charity shop, the whole concern run by volunteers for the Dove Day Hospice a little further down the lane. Cyclists, walkers and car bound sightseers are all welcomed. We were looking for somewhere to spend an hour with 4 grandchildren aged 3 - 14, one of them on the autistic spectrum. Dove cottage tearoom is a great find. The zipwire kept 2 of them very happy, the 3 year old jumped in all the puddles, the 14 year old spent the time spending money in the charity shop (along with Mum and aunty), and everyone enjoyed looking at the cakes and convincing themselves that they REALLY didn't need a luscious piece of coffee and walnut! Only one little moan, a disappointing choice of soft drinks.

By far the worst pub meal we have ever had. My mac and cheese was in a bowl the size of a cereal bowl and half empty. Two slices of garlic bread that were at most 2 inches. £15 for this and left hungry. When the waitress asked and we told her she said she would inform the chef came back and just walked by us .. never again. The other 3 meals were better but not much, over cooked chips, dry overcooked burger and chicken burger with no taste of teriyaki!
