Lovely bakery, amazing and huge white bread rolls. Very filling and reasonably priced. All baking made fresh. Lots of fresh hot pies with different fillings. A few pastries if you have a sweet tooth as well. Not traditional bakery in that no empire biscuits or doughnuts but you don’t need that as there baking is so lovely. As they often sell out you can call and preorder so you don’t miss out and often bread and rolls are hot as not long out of the oven. They take card and cash.

Have visited Douglas Bakery 5 times in the past few months and will continue to visit every few weeks. The inside is modern and comfortable with seats to sit and enjoy the food and coffee. There are tables outside too. The food is absolutely incredible and there are often special pies on. My favourite has been the salt n chilli chicken pie which I was disappointed wasn't there last time I was there, but my bank account was probably relieved. The breakfast slippers are incredible ways to make breakfast differently and not just on a morning roll. Staff are really friendly and you can see the rapport they have with customers - and it's obvious they take their time to know their customers. Popular with motorcyclists and cyclists passing and it's easy to see why.

Still sat in the carpark after ramming a sausage roll down mi face... I hardly ever eat meat... felt the need today. Not disappointed. But not eating it all as my new Chocolate Doberman wants a piece. Good coffee too. Stake pie next time. ....... Edit:- Just to add, a week or so later, I just had a steak pie and it was gob smacking. 😋 Extra edit... A guy in reviews hassles for hardly being open, your response needs to be updated as you say you are open Wednesday but are not open Wednesday in addition to Monday and Tuesday. Our experience of visiting the bakery was wonderful for many reason, Jamie & Errica made us most welcome and accommodated our needs fully (My partner is disabled) the place was beautiful and immaculate. the Food was superb sausage rolls, patisseries coffee, all very original and tasty, wondereful spices mmmmm. It was obvious that they both were dedicated to the art of good original baking. and also looking out for the sourcing supply chain, sustainable and original ingredients etc. The place whilst small inside was accommodating indeed, also plenty of room and parking to dine outside if the weather is good. We enjoyed every minute there and could have stayed all day. (See comments on disability below)

Well to my delight called in today to try his soup Aireshire tattie and roll for lunch which was delicious made by Lauren's fair hands. Went back later when the pies were ready another great addition to there menu. I'm from yorkshire so have eaten my share of pork pies, Jamie's are up the with the best I've ever eaten. I now know the magic words that are the key to my heart… “it’s better, it’s got cheese in it.” I ordered a “Breakfast slipper with beef lorne sausage” that I saw on the chalk board, and asked if it was just another word for a breakfast roll. “No”, said the baker, “It’s better, it’s got cheese in it.” Oooh! It is a pastry with a lorne slice and posh cheese, stretchy and delicious. And the coffee was so good, Lavazza coffee, one of the best coffees I’ve had in a long time. Next time I’m going to try the pain au chocolate, there was a tray of them at eye-level and they looked so good. I think you know you are in a good bakery when the person serving you asks you to wait a moment before they serve you, so they can put the sourdough in the fridge first. Quality.

Get off the M74 and have a break in Douglas, an amazing artisan baker with pies of the day (steak, haggis slow cooked in hand raised water crust pastry) sausage, with leak and bacon rolls; lorne sausage (beef Scottish square sausage) slippers, bacon slippers were just some of the handmade savoury pastries on offer, as well as good quality coffee. Comfortable settees and news papers to read. Well worth the mile(ish) detour of the motorway in the opposite direction from the standard motorway services. You can even get petrol from the local station at non motorway prices… what’s not to love!
