DOUGH&co Woodfired Pizza Halstead in Braintree

I have ordered take out before and it is great, the one time they forgot some of the stuff i ordered and when i complained just offered free garlic bread on my next order, recently I tried them again and enjoyed the ice cream, I walked there and the front door was opened I ask the man in there if i could buy some tubs of ice cream, i had to repeat that 3 times as he could not understand me, rudely told me no and that they were not open. I understood that they were not open but that is not how you speak to people let alone a customer. Could have just said politely that i could come back when they were open or something however i dont see the issue with letting me buy a couple of tubs, so will not be ordering from here again, very sad.

every time I order from this place it's takes an average of 2+ hours for delivery....this tiny the excuse was they didn't have any packaging, the driver even said they restirant was messing him around

Don't normally do reviews but had to for the worst experience we have had. Upon arrival, there was a vacuum cleaner in the restaurant and it looked like they weren't open. The only staff member came out and we asked if they were open, she said yes and waved to the tables in the front. Seemed like we were bothering her. Asked for table water and she seemed to not like that. So not a great start not inviting. We ordered the "Contraversial One". When it came out it was pretty much cheese with a small amount of ham and 7 small pieces of pineapple. Nothing else, no onion or anything else that can go on this kind of pizza. There was so much cheese that it was hard to get each slice. Tasted bland. When we wanted to pay the bill, we had to stand up and wait for a bit. She didnt come out but asked what we wanted from the back. We can totally understand why there was no one else in the restaurant considering it was a Saturday night and didn't seem to have any takeaway orders being done. Best advice is to go somewhere else or make it yourself- you couldn't do worse.

Me and my partner attended your restaurant for the first time and all I can say is wow…. Turn up shown our seats but floor was dirty and the menus don’t even look like they have every been cleaned, after 10 minute wait the waiter comes over and asked if we want a drink we asked for a coffee and was told sorry machine isn’t working, we asked for 1 minute to look again and that was it never saw the waiter again….after a further 10 minute wait we walked out the restaurant and left….the restaurant was empty maybe 4 tables being used and the waiting staff act like they don’t give a S**t, tbh it explains why the restaurant is empty and I will not be going back… FYI sort the menus out…you advertise burgers but not available in Halstead…don’t be cheap reprint the menu!

Ordered 2 hours ago with a supposed 35 minute delivery time. Still nothing. Food eventually arrived and was not edible.

Food was good although slightly cold. Was called to say order is being delivered and would be 10 minutes but still took 25 minutes.

Hit and miss. Good food (I like the High Protein pizza) but can be long wait times on takeaway orders

ordered at 8pm, said by 9-9.20. 9.10 we ring gonna be 10 minutes waiting for the driver. 10 minutes come and go, ring again, no answer. keep ringing still no answer. drove down there at 9.50! if you have no driver's don't keep offering delivery!

Ordered on just eat at 8pm, said it would be delivered between 9-9.20. We ring at 9.20, they said it'll be 10 minutes waiting for the delivery driver as they're short .10 minutes come and go ring again, no answer. Keep ringing, still no answer. Drive down there at 9.50. The food is nice but the service is disgraceful. If your short on drivers why are you offering delivery!!

Food was tasty when it eventually arrived but it did take over 2 hours from the time of order when the original slated delivery time was a max of an hour.

The pizza was amazing, easily best pizza you can get delivered. Great deals, great service, very friendly delivery driver. For sure will order again very soon!

Their salads are a total rip off. Couple of leaves and a baby tomato (2 if ya lucky) for £5 lol

Low key, timber decor and a giant wood fired pizza oven dominate the back of house. The chef is wearing whites and the staff are friendly. I sat in the window and watched the world go by. I ordered the dough triangles with a chilli oil dip, super food salad and a veggie pizza. All were head and shoulders above anything you could order from the greasy chain pizza place on the same street (Dough&Co also deliver) and my whole bill was £22. Well worth a visit, hugely reasonable for hand made, artisan pizza. Will hopefully pass by soon and try something else!

Ordered take out pizzas for collection and very pleased! Very tasty and fresh, helpful and polite lady who made our pizzas and collected in good time even though busy. 5*

After a few disappointing takeaways, we thought we would give it another shot to dine in. The food and service were great and exceeded expectations.

We have a nice experience at this restaurant. The service was excellent , good food, lovely atmosfere and the staff is nice and friendly. We recommend this restaurant.

Tasty food, but bad service throughout. From receiving the worst greating, not being shown to a table, practically be ignored the whole time, only be approached to order and put food on the table. Then having to stand up and ask for any service and the bill, all whilst you are literally the only people in the restaurant was the reason this will be the last ever visit. When you go out eat you pay extra for a dining experience, which this was certainly not. We should have just got takeaway. No wonder it was completely empty. Need to realise a restaurant is the service industry, and how to act towards friendly paying customers even if they are the only ones there.

Ordered the deal for one. Absolutely amazing pizza!! Perfect in every way! Warm doughnuts and oreos for desert! Was shocked how big it was!! Brilliant food. Lovely polite delivery driver. Definitely will be returning!!

We visited Dough & Co for the first time & we were very impressed with the food. Our kids who're fussy eaters demolished their food. The kids meal options was great & much better than the usual chain restaurants where it's very basic! Here they had generous portions & best of all you could choose an adult option as a kids portion 😊 For adults we had the couples meal with one pizza & pasta + side + glasses of wine which was great. The food was delicious 😋 & totally worth it! The desert was great too. The kids had ice cream as part of their meal options & we had a tiramisu which was finished in a matter of seconds!! The lady who served us was very friendly too. We're definitely coming back & we would recommend this lovely place to everyone!!!

Would not order from here again. First time, the food took 90 minutes to come despite advising within an hour. Second order, the food didn’t even arrive. After chasing it and being lied to that it was ‘on the way’, I requested a refund. According to them it had to be an email to head office. This was months ago and still no refund, no response to emails. Absolute joke of a place.

Beautiful food, served hot, garlic bread, pepperoni pizza, pasta the white one Bruschetta, olives, service exceptional and very friendly, went Saturday and was quiet, but plenty of orders out for delivery

We chose this place as it was the only pizza spot in the area, we were also told by the venue that they’d delivered a tonne of a pizzas there a few weeks back so were confident they’d be able to find the place. We were staying a fair bit away (15 mins), and called up to ask if they’d deliver and approx how long it would take, the guy we spoke to said, they did and it would be with us within an hour. We spent over £40 on a deal of 2 pizzas, 2 dips, a side and a bottle of wine (which was called a Girls Night in). We placed the order online as we didn’t have cash at 19:00 the order was confirmed. When you check out it notes that you’ll receive a text when the order is on its way to you. At around 20:00, our food still hadn’t arrived and we had no text, so my partner walked out in the rain to check and see if they’d parked up and got lost. I then proceeded to call them 5-6 times and it went straight to voicemail. At 20:45, one hour and 45 mins after we placed our order it arrived, lukewarm and congealed. You’d imagine after that wait we’d be ravenous - you’re correct, we ripped into the boxes, mine was meant to have extra mozzarella (see photo), which definitely wasn’t. And it was revolting. Like wet cardboard, no flavour, zero. These people are an absolute joke, do not give them your money.

Solid Pizzas, the staff very friendly and attentive only issue is there is no air conditioning and its like a sauna in the restaurant hard to rate the atmosphere as there was only the staff in the venue but overall good value for money

Ordered a few weeks back they were late by 2 hours, gave us a voucher so thought we would try again and the voucher was not valid so we rang and didn’t get an answer and not even a call back so quite frankly the best thing this business can do is restart along with restructure.

Brilliant atmosphere, friendly staff, quick service was able to relax and enjoy quality time with my family. We even got to take our left over home! Highly recommended, can't wait to return this is my family new eating spot!!

Had delivery and the food was delicious best takeaway I have had for a long long time.

Been twice now. Both times very quiet so no waiting. Sat in on both occasions. The interior is simple but functional. Had the sharing meat and cheese starter that was lovely. Extra chilli on my meat pizza and an attentive waiter so the £5 tip was deserved. Recommended.

Mixed experience Pro- food was tasty enough and good value Con- manager is less than helpful. Arrived on a Saturday night with only one other table in entire restaurant and he asked if we had a reservation and struggled to fit us in (literally 20 empty tables). His service was unfriendly and almost as if we were an inconvenience. It wasn’t until the younger waiting staff arrived that things improved. I wouldn’t rush back

Absolutely awful. Ordered a take away from here. 2 and a half hours went by and still nothing. Phoned and the child manager was stroppy at me for asking about the status of my order. She never even apologised. So arrogant. This wasn't the first time they were absurdly late either. I had been going to them since they opened and was a good customer. This happened about a year ago and haven't ordered from them since. They lost a good customer because of poor management.

Very disappointing service a few days ago. Ordered a night in for 2 to be delivered, was quoted a delivery time of 75 minutes. After 90 my friend decided to call the restaurant as it was getting late and only an hr away from closing. The phone rung out for minutes on end for 20 minutes with no answer. With no other option my friend drove down only to find 1 table occupied and minimal staff. I am accommodating to a degree but expected to be compensated for the large inconvenience and lack of customer service. We were offered two cans of soft drinks at no charge. We are not entitled people but would have appreciated our meal at a discounted price or vouchers. Will not be ordering again.

Not happy at all with the custom I received this Thursday evening at Dougha nd co Halstead. Ordered pizza to be delivered at 8:45 and it got to 09:40, still no pizza. After trying to ring the restaurant 98 TIMES with no answer I got in the car and drove to the restaurant as it closed at 10pm. On entering I could see there was ONE TABLE in use in the entire restaurant!! The phone was ringing constantly the entire time as the man in charge tried to explain how busy they had been… with their one table to wait on. I was told I couldn’t have my money back unless I refused to take my food. I wasn’t even offered delivery money back despite the fact I had to go and pick it up. Will not be ordering again due to horrendous customer service. I wouldn’t mind but £37 for two pizzas, a side and 2x drinks- horrendous. You expect more.

My son raved about the pizza saying it was best he'd had in a long while. I had a lovely pasta dish. Staff very polite.

The dough is exceptional. Have eaten pizza in some of the best places there are to eat pizza and this is right up there.

Without doubt, the best pizzas I and my lady have eaten. The cold meat platter starter was accompanied by a delicious balsamic dip. My only little grizzle is the service. It wasn't busy yet the waitress forgot parts of our drinks order, depite having an i-pad and the wait between courses was too long. A little bit more emphasis on customer/staff training would go a long way.

Really tasty food and great deal with two courses for £14 Monday-Thursday. Only lost star because it took the waiter nearly 25min to come to us after we had obviously finished our dessert despite only one other table being occupied. But overall would definitely come back. Thank you Dough and co.

Very disappointing ordered 2 pizzas they arrived freezing cold and looked like the cheese had been melted in the microwave the base was covered in so much flour we could write our names in it and the restaurant no help in getting refunded deffo won’t be ordering again, such a shame

We tried to eat here tonight but we weren’t allowed to sit at a table of our choice despite their only being one table occupied in the restaurant. We would have loved to sample the pizza but we won’t be back due to the bad tempered waiter.

Really delicious tasty pizzas. Lucky for us, it appeared to be the only restaurant open in Halstead on a Monday night. Service seemed a little slow, but in fairness the restaurant was really busy, particularly for a Monday night. Recommend trying the Negroni cocktails.

What a fantastic find! Stumbled across Dough & Co when in the area briefly with my 17 year old! Lovely ambience, attentive service & amazing pizzas! I'm a ceoliac & my pizza was the best Gluten Free Pizza I've ever had!! A great find, will definitely be back & highly recommend!

Having ordered delivery and eaten in...I love their pizzas. And I have to recommend their side salad. Beautiful fresh ingredients with the perfect oil/ balsamic dressing. Tried the charcuterie board with kids tonight, plenty to go around , well presented and delicious. Staff were friendly, funny and engaging. Love Dough & co :)

The worst meal I have had in along time ....spaghetti had so much chilli you could not eat it . Asked for some parmesan cheese , that arrived in chunks apparently they dont have a grater !!!! And the service was terrible I think only interested in takeaways

Terrible customer service. Took over 2.5 hours from order and still didn’t deliver. Had to constantly chase order, only to be told it wasn’t even in the oven! If you can’t cope with the orders coming in, don’t take them! Won’t be using again or recommending. Dreadful.

It was a wonderful and unexpected lunch time. Turn out eating one of the best garlic bread ever tasted in UK. Simple, tasty cooked within the right time in wood oven. The pizzas ordered were fantastic as well. It's a pleasure to see that we can still have healthy meals choices not very expensive. Quality and at a right price. Cosy place as well with friendly staff. Haven't took pictures but certain that I'll be back for more 😄. Learned they do also delivery for Braintree, a great alternative. Although for me as it's not far from Braintree with parking place near by why not enjoy the evening and dinner in the restaurant?

Have ordered on numerous occasions and always love the food. On this occasion ordered at 7.30 pm for delivery and was emailed that delivery would be within 60 minutes. Chased after waiting 90 minutes to be told it was in the oven, 30 minutes later the food arrived, so over an hour late to find that both pizzas were wrong. Now starving and too late to re order or complain we ate pizzas that were good but not as ordered. Beware that when restaurant is busy the standards drop

Makes z change from Pizza Hut or pizzaland. Traditional wood fired oven, pear and walnut pizza is good. Friendly service.

Never ever again food is rubbish and cold taste of kitchen cleaner. Had 2 delivery in 1 night and still couldn't get it right 1st one looked like a frozen pizza 2nd tasted rubbish very very disappointed and to top it off got to wait 3-5 days for a refund bk on to my card. joke. Avoid this place

A friend and I booked a table on Friday night, drawn in by the incredible aroma of fresh pizza baking in the open wood fire oven. We were immediately greeted by Ed whom was very friendly and made us feel welcome, his service throughout our stay was outstanding and he is a credit to the company. (Thank you Ed for creating such a warm and enjoyable atmosphere) The menu had plenty of delicious options to choose from, we decided on the charcuterie board and ‘the high protein one’ pizza to share, everything on our plates tasted amazing and fresh which exceeded our expectations, I can honestly say this is one of the best authentic pizza places I have eaten in, a little slice of Italy in Halstead! Plus the limoncello’s went down a treat!

Fantastic Service. Can't do enough for you. This place should be busier. Nice addition to Halstead High Street! Be back again soon.

Food pretty good normally. Ordered for 17:00 to 17:30 delivery through their website. Called at 17:30 and told they were leaving now and be 15 mins. Still not arrived 22 mins later. Can't believe they were rushed off their feet at this time! Very poor.
