We decided to go for lunch at the Wheatsheaf today. As we heard it had been split into two. Due to a family row. Two totally different pub/Restaurants we went into the left hand side. It is exstreamly quaint, but very small. We ordered a Ribeye sizzle plate served with chips and peas on a hot bed of onions , peppers and mushrooms. We will definatly return. Although we would try the Righthand side too.

Popped in on way back to holiday site. Four adults, one teen and a child. Food excellent with more than generous portions! The Vegetarian lasagne was delicious and the fish and chips huge! Reasonably priced too. Staff lovely and happy to make adjustments to the menu to accommodate our needs. Our view over the front of the pub was lovely and included hens who were more than happy to 'chat' to the younger members of our party. Would certainly visit again when in the area. Shame it's not nearer to home! Thank you to the staff who made our visit so enjoyable.

My sister is in a wheelchair and as soon as we arrived they moved the furniture to make it easier for her to sit and look out at the garden whilst we eat. The food was served hot and was very tasty. We even had dessert which we hardly ever do. Prices were extremely good for the quality of the food. It is new owners and I hope that it will be successful for them . Will most definatly return.

Having spent a weekend in the area we found eating out a little bit of a challenge, however we passed this place a couple of times as it was enroute to our camp site. We decided to give it a go as the previous night searching for food was somewhat fraught, in all honesty I'm glad we did as the food was good with a good selection of food and drink on the menu. A reasonable vegetarian menu for my partner and my step daughter, whilst myself went for the lamb and dumpling curry to which I was most surprised as to how good it was.. Portions generous to which I had to help my step daughters finish there chips. Was it good value for money..... Yes it was. New owners so I was led to believe have made this a pleasant eatery. Good value for money. Probably the best place to eat on the Isle of Sheppey.

We sat in the garden lovely and quiet. We eventually went in and ordered our lunch, not a huge menu but fine. Food arrived quite quickly . The food was great as is the location and the pub. However, the service was really poor and when we questioned where our desserts were (40 minutes after ordering) we were told certain desserts were unavailable. We weren't offered anything to compensate this and when we said were unhappy with the service, we were told not to return! Therefore we won't. On principal, I cannot recommend The Wheatsheaf, which us a terrible shame.

Whilst visiting a caravan park we decided to look for somewhere to eat instead of cooking. Our friends had past this quaint pub earlier during the day on one of their walkabouts. When we arrived it was very quiet and this is normally an ominous sign however we were all pleasantly surprised. We were met by a very happy and helpful young lady behind the bar who gave us advice on the menu. We ordered our drinks and sat down to view the menu, we were delighted when the people who were sitting beside us had their food brought to their table as it looked delicious. We ordered our food and it was then that both my husband and I realised there was a problem with our drinks. When we took them back to the bar it was then that the bar girl realised the gas had gone in the lemonade. She couldn't have been more apologetic, with new drinks ordered and brought over to us with the difference in change as well she was still apologising. Then our food arrived and drinks forgotten as we all enjoyed the food very much. All in all the setting was lovely, food was good and the attendance from staff brilliant. Well done.

We visited over the weekend 22nd May 2016, on it's 1st weekend of opening. The place has been refurbished to a very high standard and feels so cosy inside and out. The outdoors space is great for the little ones to run around with the gates locked there is no concern and no other way they could escape. They even have music outside which is a great touch and adds to the atmosphere. We ate the Sunday dinner which did take a while to come out but it was all fresh and well worth the wait – and all for only £7.95 which is such a great price compared to other places! We were even given the option for ½ size for ½ the price, which I find very accommodating and rare to find. There’s a few things here and there that still need to be done; Such as a high chair which we needed for our little one, colouring books for this kids, desserts and new menu’s but other than that it all takes time and the owners were very honest and humble about everything. A great relaxed place with no airs or graces, what you see is what you get. The venue itself would be a great place for a private party as its license is till 1am, I am considering for my 30th next year!! Recommended.

I went here with my family on a Sunday after prebooking a table. We waited over an hour for our meals. Whilst waiting, the table next to ours, who arrived after us, were offered complimentary drinks for their wait. When the food finally arrived the meat was fatty and under cooked, the burgers were child sized with a bun that was way too small and it tasted like a burger from a hotdog van rather than a village pub. We had to ask for salt, pepper and other condiments. We had to get our own cutlery as there was not enough on the table. Nobody asked us how the meal was so there was no opportunity to give feedback. (And I suspect they didnt want to here the answer). My family have been eating here for years whenever we visit Leysdown. This is the first time we have been here this year. I dont think we will be going back again and based on this visit I would suggest people eat elsewhere.John

New owners Joanne and James Sheedy took over this country pub on 9th December 2013. We visited for our company Christmas evening out on 16th Dec. The first thing that we noticed is that the pub has had a makeover with clean fresh décor and a new lounge area which is comfortable and homely. The beer quality has improved since my last visit and I understand that they are looking to vary the choice of cask ales on offer. Food is of a good standard and actually is home made (I was invited in to view the kitchen which has been substantially improved upon). I should imagine that this will be a great venue in the summer but give it a try in the winter as well. Much of the pub is still being refurbished and it seems that this really is a labour of love as many of the jobs that have been unattended to in the past have now been rectified. Give them a try. We wish Joanne and James all the best and we shall return.

My family and I choose the wheatsheaf often for a family celebration or Sunday lunch, and have done for years because it is comfortable, casual, clean, friendly, cosey pub. It's good grub, large portions for a good price. It's not pretending to be fine dining, it's just a comfy place to have a nice meal or even a drink. The family who own the place are lovely, always a friendly welcome. Their fish and chips, half chicken and their ribs are particularly good in my opinion and their mushrooms are our favourite! We always order an extra portion. Went recently for my step dads birthday and it was only £127 ish for 7 of us to have mains and desert with two rounds of drinks. Bargain!Only down side is their burger isn't the most impressive. Steaks are usually nice though!Definitely cheap enough to give it a try!
