We had a high tea here, it was lovely in a beautiful garden. And the peace that reigns compared to the hustle and bustle on the street side.

On the first day the room was delivered two hours late. On the third day, at 7pm the room had still not been cleaned. We reported the problem to the front desk and they assured us it would be cleaned while we went out for dinner. Upon returning, at 9pm, the room had not yet been made up. Only the towels were replaced and the room door left open by the staff, with the risk that someone could enter and steal our things. We reported the problem to the reception and in response, we were rudely told that they had no room service available at that time. For breakfast on the third day we were given a table for a maximum of three people, for a family of five. We got up repeatedly to give everyone the opportunity to leave their seats and go to the buffet. A service not up to 4 star standards.

The location is superb. Quick walk to shops, food, and the train. The service was great - nice and friendly. The rooms were clean and the bed was comfy. The towels on the other hand - hard and crunchy. The big dry off towels were crunchy. The face towels were thin and raggedy. Also, if you are wanting to book a room with 2 beds, make sure you book a Double Double Room. We booked a Double Room and got 1 Double Bed which was just a bit smaller than a queen. We thought a double room was 2 beds but it's the size of the bed not the number of beds.

We had a great stay here. It was a perfect location to catch the tube or a bus, which we did daily for the week we were there. They have a fantastic breakfast that we thoroughly enjoyed daily as well as the hot cookies every night (we picked up a jug of milk from the grocery store across the street so the kids could have milk with their cookie every night). We had dinner at the restaurant downstairs 2 or 3 times, which was average - the burger & fries was delicious and the kids ate free with purchase of an adult main. My kids liked the mac and cheese & chicken nuggets - my youngest said the nuggets were the best he's ever had 😂 rooms were comfortable and clean. We'd definitely stay here again.

Stay here often and really appreciate the customer service. Special notation for San. He is always ready to please and goes above and beyond. Great location. Grocery store across the street. And public transportation is across the street as well. San taught me, bus 49 takes me directly (no transfer involved) to the Westfield Mall. The other employees are quick to please, too. But San….is the man!

GREAT location right across the tube. Plenty of restaurants nearby. It is one of the safer places I have stayed in London. Rooms are small and a bit beaten which is to be expected in a big city. The beds are a bit springy, but we were only there for 4 nights so not a huge deal. The wifi is terrible so I wouldn't suggest it for someone who will be actively working from the room.

Stay at your own peril. My 4 year old daughter walked on a used lancet blood testing needle which had been left in our room (assuredly by a prior guest). They missed cleaning on 2 occasions during our stay, NOT due to do not disturb signage but rather poor management. Whatever cleaning protocol they have did not ensure the room was clean, and now we have had to deal with 3 extremely traumatic intravenous blood tests for her over the past several months. But all must be ‘ok’ as they offered us dinner - are you joking?? To make matters worse - when notified of the incident the needle was whisked away by management before we could even get it sent for testing to ensure any pathogens were cleared. As I say, the choice is yours.

MORE AT Google

I had a lovely stay at the Doubletree Kensington. It was my first visit to the property, and I must say, I had no issues at all. I choose this property as its location suited my needs, but it would be practical for anyone visiting London for the first time, given its very close proximity to the Gloucester Road tube station on the Piccadilly line with direct access to LHR after a 13 stop journey of less than 40 minutes. Steps away from the hotel are a number of dining and shopping venues, including a comprehensive Waitrose directly across the street and a Sainsbury's with an integrated Argos, just a block away. I arrived early, before 10:00, and as my room type was not ready, the lovely FDA, Nimna, stored my bags and promised to have a room readied as soon as one became available. I took the opportunity to do a bit of shopping on the Kensington High Street, a 14 minute stroll. By the time I returned, a few hours later, my room had been prepared and I was able to settle in before venturing out. Nimna had provided me with a drink chit for the bar, as well as a 15% discount at the on site restaurant. Unfortunately, due to my schedule, I wasn't able to make use of them, but I appreciated the gesture, which I assume is provided to all HH Diamond members. I was also offered the famous Doubletree cookie, which I had to refuse due to my diet. My king room was comfortable, and a good size, especially for London. It had a sofa, a desk with chair as well as another chair on the opposite side of the room. The lighting was a bit tricky, as multiple switches and electrical and USB outlets were above the sofa, and not reachable from bed. Thankfully, I had long cables that reached, and the lights above the nightstands did have switches accessible from bed. That was really my only gripe, and a minor one at that. The bathroom was large enough, and although the sink had no space, there was a long shelf just above it that accommodated all my paraphernalia. There was a decent sized shower stall, but no tub. The room was very quiet, and the mattress was comfortable enough to afford me a good night's sleep. Due to my HH status, the breakfast buffet was provided without charge, and was comprehensive enough, stocked with all the basics of good quality. I appreciated being able to fetch my own coffee from one of the two machines available, as it prevented me having to flag down a server that can sometimes prove challenging in other restaurants. The venue had more than adequate seating available during my two night stay, and the hostess was very friendly and accommodating. On my day of departure, the bubbly FDA, Reshma, readily accommodated my request for a 13:00 check-out, and engaged me in pleasant conversation. In conclusion, I would not hesitate to stay again. It ticked all my boxes.

Update for a stay in Dec 24, where I paid my target £150 and it remains at 23 stars. Room was too warm, heating controls were locked so could not go less than 19C. There were stains on towels and floors which was a bit icky. Location for what I needed was excellent so it was tolerable. Location is very good, 2 minutes from Gloucester Road tube station that includes the Piccadilly line for Heathrow. Lots of shops and restaurants in walking distance. Price when I stayed was on the relatively lower cost end for zone 1. Check in was good with diligent and attentive front of house staff. I was upgraded from a double guest room to a duplex room. This was on the 6th floor and has the bedroom up a flight of stairs in the roof, with a sitting area down below. It was nice to be upgraded, however the room was underwhelming as it looked nothing like the picture that shows a stylish 2 level suite. The downstairs areas had a small table and two chairs, then 1 chair and a single bed (perhaps left over from when 3 people were staying in the room?). It was dingy and it was not spacious with the TV under the stairs and no sofa to sit on if you were to watch it. Room was at the back of the hotel so very quiet, though as it was in the roof, when it rained, it was loud on the skylights. Bathroom is ok, shower hot, though water pressure was less in the morning than the previous night. If you are sleeping with 3 or 4 in the room, those downstairs will have to pass through the upper sleeping area to access the bathroom. The bed was two singles pushed together. Not great as rooms described as Kings and Queens for the bed situation. There was a balcony, yet I could not work out how to get the doors open to get to it. 1 of the two lifts was out of order, seems to have been that way for at least 4 days. It was ok, no long waits for the one remaining small lift. If the hotel was full, could see it being a problem. There were stairs, 1 set to floor 1 and a separate set from floor 1 to floor 6. Ordered at the bar a decaf cappuccino and it was frustrating at £5 to see the bar team member (note that bar staff said that only 1 of the bar team knows how to use the coffee machine to start with, not fair on that person to be lumbered with all coffee orders) start to make it with a sachet of Nescafe being placed into the barista machine. This does not work as the grains are not coarse enough. We stopped the order on seeing this and suggest the staff should share that if you order decaf you are getting the same sachet that is free in your room. £5 for this is a gouge! Breakfast was ok, not great, but enough of a choice to fill you up. I stepped out for coffee though. Found better, paid less. Suggest at £150 or less it is ok, more than this price and it is too expensive for what you get. Looking today at prices in 1 and 2 weeks, the cheapest flexible HH rate is £189 and £256 for a Double Guest room and no Duplex rooms available in 1 week and £317 in two weeks. At these prices, the hotel is not good value. However there are these days where everything in Zone 1 London seems ludicrously expensive, so it could be that too... The area is great, front of house are solid, if you can book at less than £150 with a room at the quieter back of the hotel, avoid the coffee, hope the 2nd lift is fixed and there should be no regrets.

We did not get our dessert in the dome but had to go to the restaurant and after waiting for more that 30 minutes we cancelled dessert. There was almost constant banging of the door as housekeeping went in and out of their store room but I was too tired to try and complain and change my room, having just flown in. Location is convenient to Gloucester Road and South Kensington and the reception were lovely, but this is my last stay at a Double Tree as the other experience in Hyde Park involved cockroaches, so I just don't think this chain is worth 4 stars

So you have to wait for at least 10 minutes to get to the lobby (and vice versa to your floor from the lobby) maybe even longer during rush hour. We waited for over an hour to finally get a room, and it was not even the right room - in accordance to the contract. I could have gone back to the lobby to request for another room but I am very tired and not willing to wait for another hour for a different room. Overall a disappointing experience, I don’t recommend. I hope this does not happen to other guests.

Tbh I was shocked by the rooms. I know that Hilton hotels usually have a high standards when it comes to hygiene. However, I changed my room twice. First time because they gave me a 2 double bed room as I booked for a double single double bed room. They changed my room and gave a room that was full of mosquitoes. When I say I mean more than 20 mosquitoes in less than 20 square meters. I request to change again. To be fair the staff were nice and understanding, the photo is from the current room. I left the hotel although I paid for 3 nights this is how bad my experience was. They did not refund me, however I care about hygiene to this point. I immediately changed hotels and my current hotel is way much better with almost the same price. I highly recommend to see the room before paying and pay a close attention to the hygiene.

After that horrible experience they switched our rooms again but to a single bed that they claim to be double. The bed was so small and the room was small I kept slipping from the bed throughout the night. The managers don’t seem surprised at our complains, i think they’re used to people complaining from this disgusting hotel. Amazing hotel stay. The staff as always with doubletree were very hospitable and friendly but on this occasion went above and beyond. We booked a family room and were placed in a large duplex. The stairs caused us great concern, due to our 12 month old being extremely mobile but not yet mastered stairs. The staff were attentive to our concerns and immediately fitted a retractable child gate that mitigated any risk of injury. We were over the moon as this gave us great peace of mind and had a very pleasant, enjoyable stay. Can’t recommend the brand and this particular hotel enough. The hotel itself is extremely well located for families wishing to visit the natural history museum, the science museum or the Victoria and Albert which are only 10mins walk away. Hyde park is also a short walk. There’s plenty of family friendly restaurants around too (pizza express, Ask and Baba Ghanouj). The staff are happy for you to order food in too, making dining in your room easy too. They even bring the delivery up to your room. Breakfast was offer a full range of cereals, pastries, continental (cheese and meats) in addition to cooked full english, with options for vegetarians too. Finally, let’s not forget the complementary cookies 🍪 😉

Bottom line: Great location, rooms pretty good, service and food wonderful. Will definitely stay here again. My family enjoyed our 9 night stay at the Doubletree Kensington. First, the location cannot be beat. Every imaginable convenience is 200 yards away. While I did try the hotel breakfast (which was good), my family opted for one of the several pastry and coffee shops that are right outside the hotel (highly recommend PAUL). There is also a small grocery and a pharmacy across the street for anything else you might need. The Gloucester Road tube station, also 200 yards away, connects you to all of London in less than 30 minutes. We took the Piccadilly line in from Heathrow and it worked out fine. As another reviewer noted, the sidewalk is slate but we did not have much issue with our roller bags. There is a small lift next to the stairs to help get your bags into the hotel. There is no on-site parking. We booked one of the two story suites that had a king bed and bathroom up with a sofa bed and seating area down. It faces Cromwell Road, which is quite busy. We always bring a white noise machine and had no problem with traffic noise. We did not hear any of our neighbors. While no room is ever perfect, we found the cleanliness good but the overall condition to be average (as in, normal wear and tear on a hotel room). Blackout curtains worked great. No issues with the air conditioning. Storage is always a problem when staying for a long period. We ended up using floor space to open 3 of 4 suitcases because there was only enough space for one person's clothing in the 2 drawers available. It would be nice if they used more of the open space for storage. The bathroom had adequate shelf space to stash all of our toiletry bags. Another convenient feature is that the room had lots of wall outlets with the section by the desk having multiple styles of plugs. I didn't check the voltage but I would assume that the variety of plugs still carried 50hz/220v. Apparently European hotels have a regulation about plugs in bathrooms, be prepared to blow dry and curl your hair sitting on the bed. The Secret Garden restaurant is a nice quiet space to enjoy the summer weather. We had a few appetizers and cocktails that were excellent. There are no ice machines in the hotel but the bar can give you an ice bucket. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. I used the app to begin the check in process the day prior and requested an early check in around 1 pm. I was notified it was not likely but they would try. When we arrived, we received the same story but they would have one by 3 pm for certain. My family started to discuss what to do with 2 hours when we were notified that the room was available. My other interactions with staff throughout the week were always positive and helpful. Other members of my party had started their stay at the Radisson Blu Vanderbilt on the next block and had an awful experience. They came to our hotel partway through our stay and were shocked at the superior quality and staff at the Doubletree. Overall, we would re-book this location in a heartbeat. It's not a luxury hotel but it is on-brand with every other Doubletree I have stayed at in America. The location cannot be beat and the staff always treated us well.

The restaurant manager was the only one that was super nice at all times We asked to freeze a few ice bags for medical purposes and they were not helpful and only put it in the fridge so it was Only cold and not frozen

Love this hotel and the location. Great value for the price. This neighborhood is really well connected and is very safe to walk around. Rooms are large and clean, and the AC works fantastically. The staff is very kind and accommodating. While you can pay more for a more luxurious hotel or better location, this one is great for the price. Comfortable and clean

We loved our stay at the doubletree Kensington. Highly recommended for consideration for people touring London. Great great location in a very nice area of Kensington. Metro is just steps away from the hotel. Staff were professional and very helpful. Breakfast was great. We were a family of 4 and visited London for the first time, got a room with 2 double beds which could be hard to find in Europe. Not sure if it was part of being a diamond member, we received goodies as welcome gift in our room.

How is this a 4 star hotel? Maybe when they finish renovations? Stayed in another hotel rated 4 stars at end of trip and it doesn’t compare at all. Felt more like one of the lower tier brands and not a doubletree. Staff was very nice but room was passable. Ok for 2 stars, but wouldn’t pass for much else. Carpet in room was in bad shape, maybe it was waiting for a renovation (evidence of wear and tear where furniture used to be), it was stained everywhere. Shower didn’t drain well and bathroom was not vented and overall the air was stale. Ordered breakfast in and it was bad. Fruit salad was full of unripe fruit and had some canned fruit (honestly the edible parts), our stomach was not feeling well for a couple days. For some reason they ripped the concierge desk out while we were there. It was odd to go by construction. Also the lift to the sidewalk was broken which really sucks for accessibility (and heavy luggage : many other four star establishments in London have porters).

Check-in was painful. It took so long. The room I reserved online was not given to me. I had to reiterate my need for 2 separate beds. I got some dog eared excuse about the reservation people not talking to the hotel. I was at the desk for over 20 minutes. Same poor service at the bar. Ordered a half pint to be told 15 minutes later the Stella was off. But the room was huge. Bed was comfy. Ideal for Gloucester Rd tube station and the Royal Albert Hall.

Great hotel, very welcoming and very professional staff. Very clean room with comfortable beds. Full breakfast, we don't miss anything. The hotel is located 5 minutes from a metro station which provides direct access to the three main lines. We had a very pleasant stay.

I only deducted one point from the rooms because there wasn't much desk space to put stuff on. The breakfast is good, the location is a 5-minute walk from the history museum. There is a metro station right next to it and the breakfast is excellent. I recommend it to everyone

It's rare that I come back to edit, but this stay warrants a revision: Reshma welcomed me into this Hilton property like I was royalty. What an outstanding representative of the Hilton brand!! Thank you kindly! Only my best Larry ----------------------- Arama, Reddy, and Josleen were the night team when I stayed. They made it memorable. One early morning, they started the big, fancy coffee machine for me!!! Love Hilton!!

You cannot go wrong with Double Tree Hotel. You book yourself in for a room using the restaurant and many more things to do. I have been to this hotel to use the spacious meeting room. My recommendation is to look them up on the Web.

We stayed as a family of four for five days in a deluxe double room with two double beds. The room was functional but was actually only used for sleeping as there is so much to see in London. Everything was clean and tidy. Since our room faced the street, it was sometimes a little louder at night, but you could still sleep well. The only shame was the fact that the windows couldn't be opened. All the employees were very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was rich and delicious. The best thing is the location of the hotel: less than 3 minutes from the Gloucester Road underground station, you can reach the hotel from the airport in just under 45 minutes on the Piccadilly line and from here you can reach the hotel in no time on the Piccadilly, District or Circle line Time everywhere. Or you can take the bus, which leaves almost directly in front of the hotel. Overall a great stay and we will definitely come back.

Mixed review for this hotel. It’s certainly not a 4 star hotel by any means. We had a two floor suite with a sofa bed on the first floor, a large bed on the second floor and two bathrooms. The size was great for a family of 4. Having two bathrooms was wonderful with two teenagers. Liked the coat rack in the foyer and the daily cleaning. The location was fantastic - closed to Heathrow, museums, Kensington garden and with many pubs and a grocery store nearby. That’s where the positives end. First, we had a long wait for our room. We requested an early check in which is typically provided to Hilton diamond members. Not here. They do not really recognize Hilton diamond members at all. I figured they would expedite my room given the diamond status but it was actually delivered to us after the check in time which is irritating when you are super tired after a transatlantic flight. The first room we were given (booked for 4 people) did not have the sofa bed made and you have to request the cleaning crew to do that as the linens are not in the room. Why wasn’t that already arranged for a group of 4? A 4 star hotel would have done that ahead of time. When we opened the sofa bed the mattress had stains all over including what looked like blood stains. Gross. When I notified the front desk they miraculously had another room available with the sofa bed already made. The room was big and roomy but definitely showing its age. Carpets had stains, stairs were chipped, outlet next to the bed was coming off the wall. The AC was a disaster. We would set it every night to the lowest temperature available and would always wake up in the middle of the night because it would automatically switch to the highest heat setting. I informed the front desk and no one ever looked at it or got back to me. In addition, the lights in our hallway would not switch on so we were typically welcomed back to a completely dark hallway. Again, notified the front desk and nothing was done. Customer service needs a lot of work in order to truly be a 4 star hotel. The front desk staff is not very friendly or attentive. The breakfast is mediocre compared to other 4 star hotels in Europe. The tables were typically dirty and the coffee machines constantly out of order. The same food was served every day. It was a disappointing stay all around and I really wished we had stayed elsewhere even though I liked the location. Won’t be making that mistake again. PS. Front rooms are very noisy. The hotel is on a busy road with lots of noisy traffic.

The room was lovely and big and had everything you needed for a short stay. As it was a birthday staff had left a surprise which was appreciated. The only thing that doesn’t give it 5 stairs was the following morning the room above was having some work down and we was woken up by lots of banging. The staff did get them to stop when we rang, but we was awake by this point. This hasn’t stopped us from returning again.

I wouldn’t stay at this Hilton again. The receptionist staff were passively aggressive as I didn’t want to accept the room with the broken tv. She assigned me a dusty and dirty room instead. When I asked for a second key she told me gruffly that keys are starting to run out and make sure I return this one. The staff are pompous and unfriendly - the staff base during my stay were predominantly Asian (Indian, pakistani) and they seem to treat Asian customers and white customers with preferential treatment. Some bar staff seemed to have an issue with me using my tab even though others were also using tabs. I sent photographs of my room to head office, explained my experience and they apologised. Although the location was ideal for me, I wouldn’t stay here again even if you paid me to.

Bella palestra, bel giardino, utilizzabile solo in bella stagione. Personale attento e simpatico. Solo qualche piccolo problema in stanza.

We stayed here for two weeks over Christmas and had a wonderful time. The staff were so friendly, warm, and helpful. The room was clean, and had everything we needed. Best part besides the staff was the location: across the street from Gloucester Rd. underground station, and walkable to Chelsea, Harrod's, Kensington Gardens, and Hyde Park. Kensington felt slightly removed from the super crowded and touristy areas (a good thing, imo!), but there was still plenty going on. Would definitely stay here again, thank you.

The burger was certainly tasty, but man, man, what a lot of money for a coke (small bottle), milkshake, portion of chicken pieces, burger and fries.
