Dosa & Chutney in Nottingham

My husband and I are regulars here for the past one year and we absolutely love this place. They serve the best South Indian cuisine. Their prices are great value for money.

This place is a real gem with authentic food and perfect service but without the inflated prices

What a great place, tasty amazing food, obviously a big pull for those who enjoy thus cuisine. The Dosa was a delight, my first time having one, now I don't how how I will live without them in my life. Great spice level and so tasty.

Really enjoyed our meal here authentic Sri Lankan and South Indian food. So many items to choose from we went for the devil chicken which was delicious and kottu. Everyone was so friendly and we definitely be back.

Lovely Sri Lankan and South Indian food, everything we ordered was very tasty and was like being back in Sri Lanka. Lots of choice it was really hard to decide what to order when we divided the food quickly and was great.

Always have had great time & food here, for about 3 years now. The service ever improving, and always felt welcomed. The taste too consistent and good. Value for money. Buffet are ideal go to if you crave for proper S.Indian meal.

Overall very good. Portions slightly small. But this is compensated by the great fresh ingredients. Decor needs freshening up plus the large windows that make up for the shop front would benefit from a clean. Atmosphere is ambient. Service is very good. The manager is very professional. And was fully aware of nut allergies I will visit again next time I am in Nottingham to experience the Dosa.

Delicious food and great value for money! Our server was very attentive and friendly, and advised us on gluten free dishes. I had the paneer dosa and my friends had the chicken curry and breads. Overall a great experience and we will definitely be back. Thank you!

This is genuine review!!! I couldn’t eat food from here due to poor hygiene. The staffs were very rude(two ladies there today)/not at all welcoming. The spoons on the table were not even washed. It was very expensive and poor quality food. This place ruined my day. Please save yourself from this unhygienic place. I cant even say atleast one point good about this place, so dissatisfied.

The place to taste wonderful delicious food is Dosa and Chutney. I had been visiting this place couple of times , such a nice and respectful staff service . The organized atmosphere and healthy ambience are too good. The taste of food is top notch. I advice to just visit once with your friends and iam sure you will be visit again and again.

Prawn biryani too salty, prawns overcooked to the point of rubbery, after bringing to the attention of staff, no compensate, left feeling very hungry they don't care for repeat business, if they were willing to resolve then I would go back , but refused to accept, I don't know if I would ever go back

Learnt about their quality of food and its filled with frozen or old batter for idly/dosa/vada etc. Service has been super slow and weird for the last 3 times I went. Even a plate of idly took 30+ minutes.

I don’t do review but I had to do it for this restaurants The food is here is good but the biggest drawback is that the owner was a bit annoying 7 of my Chinese friends and I had visited and order 5 to 7 dishes so my friends can taste Indian food for the first time. The owner on taking the order was repeatedly asking us to order more food and complaining that it will be a loss to him. As a customer I don’t expect the owner to complain to order more food. It is our choice right ? This was the first time my Chinese friends tried an Indian restaurant and ended up being a very bad experience. Although the food was good but the overall experience was a big disappointment. Would not recommend only due to the customer service experience.

Outstanding price-to-value ratio! We had been planning to come here for a long time before we finally popped in on a Friday evening. Thankfully there were a few tables without reservation so we sat down by the window. Staff were speedy and accomodating. Food was utterly delicious. If you are after genuine spicy food, Dosa And Chutney is the must-go place. We will definitely return here in future as the restaurant has a wide arrange of meals and we are eager to enjoy as many of their dishes as possible!

We arrived for the UNLIMITED breakfast buffet at 11:45 AM, only to find ourselves the first customers. The buffet included idly, mini poori, vada, Pongal, kesari, rava upma, and just one dosa, served with coffee or tea. Unfortunately, only the idly and sambar were fresh and tasty. Other items, Pongal, kesari, chana masala, and both chutneys lacked flavor and seemed old. We even found small stones in the rava upma. On the bright side, Shruthi provided excellent service, but the guy in reception near the bill counter was quite rude. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place for a satisfying South Indian breakfast.

Its been multiple visits in recent months and quality of food is incredibly amazing, service is always on point. Must try Rasam Vada, Mysore Masala dosa and Masala Tea❤️ I’ll keep going again and again❤️

Amazing food every time we go to Dosa chutney our experience is good. We recently went for breakfast buffet and food was amazing and tasty 🤤 my son loves there Dosa especially there ghee roast Dosa and mini idlis. There staff is amazing always smiling and welcoming. Going with little one to restaurant can be challenging but the staff are very supportive and helpful.

This place is incredible, everything I've tried is so flavorful, interesting and brilliant: fried rice, biryani, lamb korma, lamb chettinadhu, paneer makhani, daal, everything! Actually can't believe how good this place is, you haven't tried Indian food until you've been here, the depth and complexity of flavours is stunning. Should be rated number one in the UK, not just Nottingham. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed!

I ordered prawn fried rice, one of the worst pathetic fried rice I ever had, the prawn was not cooked well and raw smell, they served me very quickly full of raw vegetables as well, Their chicken devil was another disaster, the chicken tasted like it had been fried 2 or 3 days before, I felt stomach abset after eating , waste of money 😭 And food quantity also not satisfied for the price Food: -100/5 | Service: 0/5 Please highly recommend not to waste your penny in this restaurant

Located in the city centre, so it's good spot for eating after/before your shopping, you can sit next to the window and enjoy the city views. Im not very familiar with Indian cuisine, but the waitress was very patient with me and assisted me in choosing what to eat and explained the different tastes and flavors in the dishes I was interested in trying , which made things easy and smooth. The food was 10/10 😋😋, fresh, looked and tasted delicious.

Last Sunday we went for the morning buffet. It’s suppose to be from 10:30 till 12:30 we reached at 11 and there was no food left and they almost took 30 to 40 minutes to refill. Food was cold and when asked they said they had some technical issue. Like when asked for dosa they literally gave us 1 and said will give more later and they never did. Buffet means all the food shud be ready to refill and shud be warm. Food wasn’t tasty at all and very poor customer service. Not worth the money you are paying for. Wont suggest the buffet option.

I spent a total of 24 hours in Nottingham, and managed to visit this place twice: I have to say, this is some of the very best south indian food I've ever had (my visit to India included haha). Can't recommend enough!

Visited for lunch with work colleagues. Had the lunchtime buffet. Plenty of choice and all very tasty. Particularly liked the deal, chicken curry and vegetable curry. My colleagues were equally happy with the Dosa with a variety of fillings.

It was really good and awesome... The service is also excellent. The wash and the hand washing area is not so hygienic and felt bad odour. They can spend a little to maintain that area as well. For food I will recommend the restaurant for sure. 👍

Nice little place if you are craving Dosas and Parottas. We ordered, Virgin Mojito - Perfect mix, extra ordinary, Lamb chops - very good, Gobi 65- Bland and no salt, Chilli Parotta - ok, Parotta & Pepper Chicken Masala - Fantastic Lamb Biriyani - Fantastic. Kids Dosa - Very good Service is a but slow as there was one staff member running around, cleaning tables as well as serving food, also had to remind her a couple of times of what we had asked earlier. Parking is a pain as we had to use the Paid underground parking which was not good. We will be visiting again !

Me and my friend were planning to visit the restaurant for a long. When we visited Nottingham last time it was fully occupied so didn’t have the patience to wait to be honest. After months we visited Nottingham in November 2023, and desperately want to visit this restaurant. Will start from ambiance, not an extraordinary restaurant a simple , small restaurant so I would rate the ambiance 2.5 out of 5 The food we ordered was non veg, the quantity was very less for the price we pay The quality is not that impressive, somewhat ok kind of food The wait time was more than expected when there were only 2,3 seats being served The restaurant staff’s were friendly The food prices are too much comparing with the quantity of food We been to the men’s rest room to wash that was a horrible experience ,not clean at all

got three different dosas for my table, all of them came so so thin that it crumbled as soon as we touched it. Brought it to the waitress’s attention and asked for a replacement nan or anything but they doubled down and said “that’s how they make it” which isn’t true because i went there a week before and dosas were made fine. my friends lassi had a fly in it, and the waitress had an attitude asking how it happened as if implying we did it before taking it back, so so embarrassing. i don’t think i’ll be returning here.

Best south indian food in nottingham, I've tried different varieties at dosa and chutney and food never disappointed me. Friendly staff clean place and reasonable price. If you're new in nottingham and looking for indian or south Indian food must go to dosa and chutney.

In my opinion this is the best south indian restaurant I’ve ever tried. When it comes to indian food, I am really picky because I am south indian myself, but this restaurant is perfect if you are missing and craving your mum’s food because it’s authentic, spicy and flavorful!

A very positive experience from start to finish. the waitress was pleasant and professional. The food was incredible. We will certainly be returning as soon as possible. There was a slight issue with delay in the preparation of my dosa but the Manager explained the issue and apologised so we did not see this as a problem. Customer service was exceptional and would highly recommend.

We went for breakfast as a couple on Saturday 26th August 2023. We were informed upon arrival that it is buffet for breakfast but Dosa could be ordered. We were shown to our table at 1120, and we ordered our tea and coffee. I also asked for a plain dosa. The waitress returned to say that they are not raking any orders before 1200. 10 mins after us at 1130 a South Indian customer ordered a plain dosa, and another ordered Vada, and both were served with their orders. The staff seemed disinterested in general and unprofessional. They were aware of serving two customers with orders and refusing ours, but did nothing to rectify the situation or address the inconsistency. Hygiene and facilities were questionable - the ladies toilet was unsecured and moved dangerously, mosquitoes in the toilet area. Kitchen was visible when going to the toilet, and again it did not seem very clean. Our first and absolute last visit to what appears to be a restaurant run by prejudiced staff.

So glad we found this great relaxed dining restaurant. Great service, food and location. Looking forward to our next visit.

We discovered this wonderful restaurant last year when we were looking for a relaxed place to eat prior to a concert. Great food (reasonably priced) brilliant service and a very casual/ relaxed atmosphere. I am already looking forward to our next visit to Nottingham to book a meal here. Highly recommended.

This is The best dosa, chutney and Sambar I had ever had in a restaurant in the UK. The aroma was amazing and all the spices added appeared to be freshly grounded and a very limited quantity of oil.

Stale sambhar, the Dosa bathed in oil, texture of the coconut chutney was weird and it tasted too bland. No rye! Specifically requested the server to put very less masala, nonetheless, almost 80g of masala was served. Too generous! I saw the waitress cleaning a glass rim with bare hands before serving wine at another table. Unhygienic!

Ordered their new bucket biriyani for £20 which comes with chicken 65. It was amazing. Tue chicken 65 was vera level.

We had Masala Dosa samosa veg noodles and veg roll, we asked all food together without completing the whole meal in mean time waitress cleared all the plates, I thought she is clearing the starter plate masala dosa is fantastic but the vegetables roll was stale which was bad smelling. Even I complained but they didn’t take any reaction

Me and family usually eat at this restaurant. At first we thought it’s just a one time case but as we frequently visited it seemed to be their day to day normal behavior. The food is not that great compared to the actual preparation of the dish except the dosas, they are good. All other Indian dishes just does not have the same taste and it’s suppose to be. When we order for all members together we expect receive all ordered items together to avoid anyone waiting and looking at others who received their food, but this doesn’t happen here. We ordered food for adults and child, the food for adults were received but for a child a simple chicken noodles took an hour to receive. We did share our food with the child and by the time the food was received the child wasn’t interested. It’s a shame. We orders for a chicken dish and received vegetable instead upon advising the server of this they went to the kitchen and came back telling us it’s chicken coated with cheese inside. I had to literally show the server the outer coating, the vegetable and the cheese for them to understand the order was wrong. Then they apologize and say it was a mistake and a misunderstanding etc. We cancelled that dish in the end as it was already an hour for us to receive it and was afraid it would take another hour. When I initially inquired the ingredients in the chicken noodles it was advised that it’s chicken, noodles and vegetables. I specifically asked if there is egg and was told no egg. To my surprise the dish came to us with egg in it, the only reason we didn’t want egg is cause the child doesn’t like the smell of egg in food, but since the order took an hour, the child already ate and we adults had to eat it. It wasn’t great.. Finally the last issues I had is with the smell of the spray used when cleaning tables that finished their meals and left. It is so strong that I could actually taste it 2 tables afar. It did ruin my mood and family lunch experience. My advise is if you want to have South Indian food like dosa it’s good but other Indian dishes and service experience is really poor based on my experience.. We did have similar incidents in the past but always thought that everyone makes mistakes and it could be just a one time case, sorry to say we have faced this issues before as well and I think that the management is actually not interested or careless enough to ignore these issues. I hope this review helps someone to avoid facing similar issues and hope the management reads this and pull up their socks..

Great, authentic South Indian food at reasonable prices. If only the service was as good. Rude staff, slow service. Seating arrangement is quite poor. If they can improve on this, it'd definitely be one of my top places to go for Indian food in Nottingham.

Relaxed ambience and homely taste. Sometimes simplicity is often overlooked when it is necessary to feed your soul. This restaurant gets it right. A slight more finesse in plating can make them a stand out. Recommended for a homely experience.

I had a nice experience there with my friend. The food was really spicy. Maybe because it is southern. Also, it has a nice view of Nottingham

Found it on a random Saturday and was compelled to go in as it said dosa! Had high hopes and expectations, but didn't quite live up to it. We got the Gobi Manchurian for starters, but it was disappointing and mostly was filled with ketchup. My friend for the poori masala and I got the set dosa with mutton curry. The curry was good and the dosa while being a good size wasn't a 'set' dosa, it was a plan dosa, kinda felt bad as I was really excited to have it. The chutneys were good and tasted amazing. The staff is quite friendly as well.

My first visit to Dosa and Chutney did not disappoint. Our waiter was very helpful, explaining menu items with enthusiasm. We went with his recommendations of a long ‘paper’ pancake with a potato filling and a tray of 4 dips. We shared lamb and chicken curries and 1 basmati rice - more than enough! When we next visit - and down - we will try the buffet. Highly recommended.
