Dornoch Patisserie and Cafe in Highland

Have used Sandstone cafe many times over the years and as usual this time it was a very pleasant experience. Great food, drink and service with a smile. Keep up the good work and see you soon.

Popped in to sandstone cafe , for lunch, it’s a lovely bright cafe with great menu, the staff are very friendly and helpful The food was amazing as always Will definitely be going back , we come to Dornoch a lot to see family Can’t wait till the next visit

Poor customer care received after suggesting my bacon was under cooked as I have always considered salmon pink with blubbery fat under cooked. However I was assured this was “baked bacon” and was incorrect. After some negotiation I did trade for a tuna sandwich which was very nice for another £3!!! Custard tart was the rubbery and inedible Save your money, time and energy and go elsewhere.

It's a long time since I've visited Dornoch and I can honestly say the NC500 hasn't been a benefit to the place. We popped into this cafe for lunch while doing a tour to Dunrobin castle. We looked at the menu and were really shocked with the prices however sometimes the price brings you something special and you don't mind. However we ordered two cheese and onion toasties and one portion of chips. £21.80 in total. Expecting something spectacular for that price. What arrived was truly disappointing. The toasties were nothing special and had a small side salad of sorts and the chips were served in a mug. We didn't order drinks because they wanted £3.50 for a bottle of water. I know the cost of living has gone up but that's no excuse to fleece the tourists visiting the area. If I visited the area again I'd simply get a sandwich from the coop as it would be much tastier and better value.

Food was lovely but service was a bit up & down. We stayed for a week in Dornoch - first time visited service was great - second time no so much. Food consistently good.

We were passing through Dornoch and needed a coffee and cake and happened upon this place. Very friendly staff, great cakes and some artwork for sale. Highly recommended!

Once a year we visit family in the area and we always hope this wee cafe will still be here. Consistently excellent food and such friendly staff today nothing had changed we thouroughly enjoyed our food and the chats with the young lady who served us

They had a lovely range of lunch items and dessert items on offer, the service was amazing with really friendly staff. The food arrived hot and beautifully presented. Everything was extremely tasty and couldn’t recommend more. The cafe and toilets were clean and fresh, the food was delicious and the staff were fabby, if your in the area I would highly recommend a visit

Fantastic, friendly unpretentious place to eat. Good food with cheesecake to die for. Best decaf coffee in the area. Would recommend to anyone. Also very handy for anyone on the NC500.

Hi breakfast in SandStone cafe Dornoch during our trip round the Nc500, we sat outside as it was a lovely morning, we both had scrambled eggs with bacon and coffees, the food was very nice, well done , great find, thanks

Called in for takeaway sandwiches and cakes. We had coronation chicken sandwiches which came with salad and a very tasty salad dressing. They have a very nice sweet selection we opted for Lemon Meringue which was absolutely delicious. They stock a range of ice cream we had Scottish Tablet in a single cone. You got a good helping of ice cream with the option of having a flake if you wanted. We didn’t have any drinks so I cannot comment. The shop is clean and bright with a few tables and chairs if you wish to eat in. They also sell gifts which looked very nice too. Would we go again? Yes without hesitation

They were just about to close but still served us delicious ice cream. The place was immaculate. They had just cleaned up for the evening. Staff lovely and helpful

Visited for afternoon coffee and cake (great selection) and reading the menu, we'll definitely be back for more. Made very welcome by staff and obvious it's enjoyed by locals as well as visitors.

Called for a light lunch, I had quiche and salad, the quiche was very nice the salad was exceptionally nice. The coffee was great and it was rounded off with a terrific ice cream. Well worth the visit!

Popped in for a coffee having wandered around Dornoch for a while, and had an excellent coffee here in very pleasant surroundings. The cakes looked delicious too - maybe next time !

Nipped in here for a drink and a cake with my husband and young sons. The staff were very friendly. Cafe was lovely and the cakes were delicious. I would say slightly on the pricey side (£3.20 for a bottle of Ribena) but we did enjoy our little stop off.

We were looking for somewhere to have a very late lunch after setting up our tent at the campsite. After a wee wander along the street we stumbled upon this wee gem. Super tasty lunch, yummy milkshakes and delicious coffee.

Had coffee and cake, their menu is fantastic. We had had a big breakfast but wished we hadn’t, the sandwiches here looked amazing. Staff had great suggestions on where to buy gifts. Definitely worth a visit. Spotless, bright and cakes were amazing!

We dropped by for a coffee while on the NC500 and a trip the Dornoch beach. Ended up having a sting and one of the best home made pizzas I have ever tasted outside of Italy. If u are passing by, definitely recommend

Very friendly cafe. Everything on the menu is available for takeaway. We had sandwiches, baguettes and quiches to take down to the beach with us and all were very tasty. You might have to wait a while if they’re busy but it’s worth it.

My husband and I had quite possibly the most disgusting french onion soup we have ever eaten, in this cafe. It was literally a bowl of sweaty onions in water. No french bread or melted cheese in sight. The bread roll that came with it was mediocre but the butter was revolting. The latte was also very poor. The whole meal was ridiculously expensive, especially as it was so dreadful. There are MUCH better cafes in Dornoch than this place

Often pop in here when in Dornoch and never been disappointed. Today we had pud - apple pie and custard and raspberry bread and butter pudding with cream(yum). Both delicious. Very friendly, chirpy and smiley waitress made our visit even more enjoyable. Highly recommended.

Went here as a quick bite to eat inbetween wedding arrangements! No prices were displayed anywhere for anything, so was shocked to say the least on receiving a bill of £26 for two to eat two bowls of watered down tomato soup two toasted sandwiches and two glasses of milk, the cashier was reminded there was just the two of us, yes she said!! Ridiculous!! As a comparrison went to V8 in Inverness the following week had exact same meal except the soup was wholesome beef and tomato and received a bill of £12.90!! Almost had the same response thinking they must have got that wrong but no, Same meall but half the price!! so come on Dornoch Patisserie and Cafe get real with your prices!! Spoke with locals about our visit and they agreed that yes you are expensive!! Time to review things I think!!

Went there today, two sandwiches, two glasses of milk and two watered-down soups in a large half-filled bowl...£26 What!!! you're having a laugh, daylight robbery in Dornoch. Avoid at all costs!! Wouldn't go back there. I spoke with another couple who left the same time, they too mentioned the price of their food! Poke of chips, sandwich and two teas amounted to £14! These people are obviously ripping off the tourist!!

Great lunch food really nice loved the scones and a great cup of coffee. If u are looking for a wee bite to eat I would highly recommend great staff and great selection of food and treats.

Late in the afternoon my friend and I were looking for somewhere for a coffee and found this little gem. The coffee was excellent and my chocolate equally so and it was only some serious self control that stopped us from tucking into some very appetising cakes. It is deceptive as there is more room inside than you would guess from the outside and it was spotlessly clean inside.

A nice and cosy place. I suppose an authentic and typical place for Scotland. A good place for having afternoon snacks. Recommend to taste a kish with mushrooms.

Comfortable and very friendly service. I had a tasty warm sausage roll and salad - both very good. Someone had taken a lot of care with the salad, a good mix of interesting salad and fruit - perfect!

I had some good gluten-free cake here, with good coffee. Most importantly for me the WiFi is good, unlike at the Dornoch Courthouse where it is slow to the point of being unusable.

Don’t know how this place is rated number 2 out of everywhere in Durnoch, I had my worst ever ‘meal’ here, bland is the only way to describe it. £7.50 for a panini and you get enough sauce to dip one chip in. I’ll no be back

Still the Best cafe in Dornoch and you have to try their take away Pizzas, they are the Best, Domino and Pizza Hut eat your heart out. Dave

We only came for scone and coffee, and later in the hope of having a late lunch. They had stopped serving food by then but recommended the Courthouse after making sure it was open. The lady who spoke to us could not have been friendlier or more helpful and that is why I am giving the café full marks. We enjoyed our chat, and would visit again if in Dornoch.

We loved this little bistro with great lunch, friendly service, and delightful desserts. We stopped there for lunch and good not have been treated better. Highly recommended! Also it was very cost effective.

We went to Dornoch to see the golf course and decided to stay in the small town for lunch. We stopped at Dornoch Patisserie and Cafe. It is small but has a number of tables. The owners were smiling and very helpful with the menu. I had a sandwich and soup. It was great on a slightly rainy day and really made our visit enjoyable.

Popped in earlynevening to try a pizza. I think they are supposed to be takeaway pizzas which I didn’t realise and ordered drinks. As the cafe had vacant tables we asked if we could eat at one. No problem. Didn’t get any cutlery mind you and that’s when I realised the pizzas were takeaway! Sorry guys but thanks for accommodating us.

A large group of us descended on this cafe, they were fast and friendly. They had our meals out quickly. The ham and Brie baguette was delicious.

I stopped in for a snack at lunch time.I chose Quiche salad which was really tasty,the presentation was amazing and only cost £7.The latte was really nice.

We ordered coffee and one portion of cake. The coffee was tasteless and we asked for an extra shot to make palatable. Even after adding an extra shot it was just ok. We were charged £4.80 for each coffee because of the extra shot. We feel that it is outrageous to pay almost £10 for two substandard coffees.

Been many times to the Patisserie and would highly recommend it. The cakes are amazing and the food is very tasty. Chris the owner and the staff are very friendly and its a lovely place to eat. A must try when you are in Dornoch for lunch!

Stopped in here for a coffee on a cold October afternoon. The place was deserted but the welcome and the cake was fantastic. We both had the white chocolate and raspberry bread and butter pudding and it was fantastic. The cakes are all home made and the coffee was excellent.
