New name, some new design features and vastly increased prices. Shame the breakfast rolls and full Scottish breakfast seem to have disappeared. I had a tasty hash stack, but £13!!. At these prices has to be compared to top hotels and restaurants . For these prices I think I would prefer the Wolseley on Piccadilly in London or maybe a trip to Paris or New York. So, Donald Johns or Cafe Cuil may not be a regular stop for locals n ow - just special occasions. The staff, however, are still charming, helpful and attentive

The red roof is obviously eye-catching and enticed us in. It’s a great stop for lunch or a coffee. There’s breakfast and lunch specials and it stays open all afternoon. We just wanted a snack, so soup and a toastie for us. Very nice Scotch chicken broth and hearty ham & cheese toastie with coleslaw with a pot of tea. Just over £20 - so good value too. Great friendly service, parking, amazing views - try and get a window table close to the door so you can gaze out whilst eating. Definitely recommended.

Went in for afternoon lunch after wet visit to fairy pools. Not at all what I expected from a Highland cafe! Food was over priced and bland but it was the attitude of the server (an older brash and brazen woman that squawked like a crow) that really spoiled our visit. Everything was an effort and she tutted several times for simple requests like water and some extra bread etc . Why oh why do people employ someone this obnoxious? I would not recommend anyone come here.

Visited for lunch as we were here in October 2020 and had nice food last time. I was really disappointed as so called “special” of goats cheese and pesto toastie, was just toast with goats cheese in it and no trace of pesto. The coffee was poor also. My partner had baked potato with veggie haggis, and the haggis was rock solid in places. We were both quite gutted!

I saw the big red build on our way to Dunvegan so Googled it & combined it with a wet & wild walk to the Fairy Pools. I messaged the day before to see if we could take our dog in with us which we were able to do - dog friendly thumbs up. There was a notice up to say they were short staffed but we didn't have to wait long at all. Hubby had hot dog with onions & mustard, I had the steak burger (seriously best ever) & the youth had fish & chips. Simple food beautifully done & super hot. There was an amazing selection of cakes but we'll have to go back for them another time! Also the car park is good & the toilets were really good - contactless flush & taps - clean & new.

Lovely building and location. The food was ok. Staff were very rude from the moment we arrived, in particular the older woman. Didn’t feel welcomed at all, so we ate our food and left as quickly as possible. A shame considering it was a nice a day and the dogs enjoyed sitting in the sun.

Visited this place for lunch and from my rating you can see we didn’t have the best experience. There is no system in place or if there is it isn’t well sign posted. We weren’t sure which way we should be going or if we had to wait to be seated, so in the end we just sat outside. We politely asked for some menus inside as we were seated outside in which the lady was very unnecessarily rude who huffed and puffed then said ‘We’ve already given some to them lot, but okay’ we were very confused because no one else in our party had come inside yet. The food was average at best, but it was the rudeness from the staff that really put us off. Didn’t make us want to come back.

Average. Arrived at 4pm on a Friday to have some early dinner. Was abruptly told that the kitchen closed at 4pm. Selected coffee and cake instead. Both ok but brought to table with no cutlery and was just pointed out where to get a spoon from . I headed to the cutlery station to find it only had dessert spoons so headed duly to the counter to ask for a tea spoon. Can't say that my greeting was particularly pleasant. Not a bad location. Coffee and cake Average and well priced but customer service really not very good. I won't bother again unless desperate. Sadly !

Arrived for breakfast. Building looks new. Cleanliness is fantastic. Paid £26 for 2 breakfasts and 2 coffees which I think is pretty steep. Laid out very well. Like a restaurant but I expected a cafe breakfast and cafe prices. The breakfast arrived fast. Too fast for it to have been cooked fresh. This was noticeable in the cold sausage and solid yolk in my egg. I asked to swap some items as some weren't liked by us, this wasn't an issue however upon arrival the sausages were missing from the other plate. They apologised took the plate away and brought it back out within seconds proving that the breakfast items are ready made. The froth on my coffee was horrid. Like it was made with un dissolved powdered milk. Wouldn't recommend for breakfast.

First the good. Very good location and newish building which was clean and well kept. Large car park. Good for sandwiches and cakes. Good service on the two days we visited. Cafes on Skye are few and far between so really they have a pretty captive audience. I would stop again for a light meal. But the downside. Breakfast menu finishes at 12.00. Lunch menu doesn't start until 12.30. So when we arrived the first day at 12.10 we were in between and had to settle for cold food (sandwiches and cakes). Although these were very good the timetable seems a bit ridiculous. There are signs for the Covid app and generally the system and cleaning were good. But we were not asked, or instructed, on either day to use the app and we were not asked for contact details on either visit. We couldn't use the App as it we didn't have the Scottish version. On the second visit I ordered fish and chips. Very poor quality. The fish looked like ti came from Birdseye and had no taste and was watery making the batter soggy. Cafes on Skye are few and far between so really they have a pretty captive audience. So disappointing that the hot food isn't great quality.

We had passed this a few times whilst it was closed but had been recommended to make a point of stopping for cake. We were not disappointed with the choice - and the cakes themselves, were beautiful! This must be one of the worst pubs I have been in. Tables were filthy , floors were sticky and staff were uninterested. We ordered two drinks and could not find a clean table, then after using the toilets and actually feeling the stickiness of the floor , left. There are so many nice bars in this area, if you see it ... walk on by ! Giving it one star is flattering!!

Visited 3 times in 5 days and probably spent more on coffee than we did on merchandise (and Tiso is an excellent shop by the way). Excellent coffee, lovely cake selection and a truly fantastic full English/Scottish breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful. View to the Cairngorms outstanding and our doggy companions most welcome.

Dreadful food. After waiting for more than 40 minutes our inedible burgers arrived. Mine had 2 pieces of lettuce and a dry patty that was inedible until I added barbecue sauce. By the time the sauce arrived it was cold so even less pleasant. My husband's burger had bacon that was so hard he couldn't cut it. And the same patty. I gave an honest answer when asked about my meal and suggested they needed a new cook. It was the worst meal I have eaten in years. I'm told it used to be good. Avoid it at all costs.
