I eat at Don Diego in Birmingham. It is Spanish restaurant and food is very good. I feel like in Spain. I try tapas and they are delicious. My favorite is patatas bravas and calamari. The restaurant is small but nice. Decoration is like Spain and music is good. I feel comfortable. Staff is friendly and they help me choose food. I speak little English, they are patient and kind. I recommend Don Diego for people who like Spanish food. It is good place for eat and enjoy.

Had such a lovely evening, the atmosphere was warm, cosy and friendly. We were welcomed by the friendly staff and served in a timely manner. The food was quick to arrive, well presented and tasted great.

Second visit to Don Diego & we will be back. Hidden gem most definitely. Highly recommended. If you want "frou-frou, trendy, instagram, fine dining tasting menus" this is not the place for you. If you want excellent quality meat, fish & seafood, cooked by someone really who understands depth of flavour & how to cook these dishes amazingly well in an unfussy & delicious way, you will leave very happy.

Parked at Botanical gardens ahead of an event there and walked out to find something to eat. Wasn’t confident of finding anything but stumbled on this place and had an outstanding 3 course meal. It’s pretty understated on first impressions, but it’s the food that matters and all 6 dishes we had were high quality. Run by 2 brothers (one chef, one front of house) they deserve continued success. It’s not cheap but if you can, give it a try, you won’t be disappointed and we will definitely be back

Another wonderful evening at Don Diego on Wednesday, bring your own wine night. Fabulous service and food in this warm, friendly and ambient restaurant. We chose prawns in lobster bisque and wild mushrooms to start, suckling lamb and monkfish with mash and mixed grilled veg for mains and chocolate and whisky semifredo and limoncello with a homemade shortbread biscuit for dessert. We finished off with a cappuccino and orange and cherry brandy each. Highly recommend this restaurant for fresh, imaginative, well cooked, well presented and piping hot food. I booked a table on a whim, based on the trip advisor reviews. The food was excellent, tasted amazing and were realistic portion sizes. Service was great even met the chef at the end of service. We felt like we were in Spain. Already booking our next visit.

My husband and I visited this restaurant on Wednesday evening. A warm welcome from Eddie, we were seated, Eddie opened our wine which we brought with us and poured us a glass each, he then brought us some delicious Spanish olives. Our starters arrived shortly afterwards, we opted for black pudding piquillo peppers with bravo sauce and piquillo peppers filled with spring onion and goats cheese, served with warm ciabatta bread. For mains we chose beef cheeks, lamb meatballs, roasted vegetables and chips. The food was piping hot, fresh, well cooked and served and extremely tasty and filling. For dessert we chose chocolate brownie and lemon posset, again delicious. We finished off with a coffee each and my husband enjoyed a double Spanish brandy. We went to Din Diego recently. It was 5 of us and all had really nice food an a very good experience. Eddie is very attentive and Alfonso and expert chef. We were delighted with the experience. We will definitely come back.

It’s was my second visit and I was delighted that their very high standards have been maintained despite the challenges created by Covid I had the squid followed by baby lamb with the lemon posset to finish. All 3 courses were excellent with the lamb being particularly memorable The only disappointment was that the restaurant was so quiet. They deserved to be absolutely buzzing given the quality but clearly we are still in far from normal times. Hopefully trade picks up quickly as they definitely deserve peoples support given the quality and value for money.
