Just popped in here at lunchtime, being 'in holiday' mode visiting Nairn. I asked for a cone of chips and the chap that served me was very pleasant, chatty and polite. The cone was nearly overflowing with chips with plenty of salt & vinegar added. They were freshly made, hot and very tasty. I would highly recommend if you are visiting Nairn. I will definitely go again and next time have the fish & chips - well you are at the seaside :)

Highly recommend this place. Haggis supper and white pudding supper were ordered and was great to see they were cooked fresh (not allowed to dry up in the heater). Both were excellent. Not greasy and both puddings were nice and moist..only.slight complaint was having to pay for sauce.

White pudding supper, chips were worse than anemic, had to finish cooking them in fryer when I got home, batter on white pudding was absolutely rank, soft isnt the word and white pudding itself was soggy. Lad who served me was a real nice polite lad, when wrapping my order he proceeded to wrap it in 2 sheets of paper, bloody horrible woman bent his ear in front of everyone shouting at him "one sheet of paper is enough". Food is disgusting and so is the manageress type person, not nice to reprimand staff in front of others. Been a while since I've been in this place and they have learned NOTHING by reading reviews left on this page, comments on same problems I had today since 2012 have been grossly ignored. Be a very long time before I go back

Got take away fish supper and battered single fish - worst fish supper we’ve ever had - batter cold and very soggy throughout and stuck to the fish - the oil was spilling out all over the chips. Sausage supper contained the smallest pieces of sausage I’ve ever seen from a chippy. Absolutely revolting uncooked batter spilling thru to the fish in an oil slick and very short changed in both size and quality of the sausage - disgraceful - please folks go elsewhere

Stopped in for some fish and chips. I ordered at the counter and my food was brought to the table. I got the small order which was plenty - two decent size pieces of haddock. The fish was cooked very well - and not too much batter (I can't stand overly crunchy thick batter). I had mushy peas as well which were quite good. My only complaint is that tartar sauce is extra (30p). Not going to break the bank, but it's the principle and I feel, like ketchup, it should be included at no extra charge. Place is very clean. Prices are fair and the menu is extensive considering being billed as a seafood establishment.

My husband and I first encountered The Dolphin chip shop after an unpleasant experience at a restaurant in the town in which we came away with ravenous appetites at quite a late hour, so making a meal at home was out of the question. There was quite a queue, which I took as a good sign that it must be quite popular. Despite it being busy, we were attended to promptly. My husband went for the Haddock supper and I had a Haggis supper. The staff were very polite and chatty. The prices were quite reasonable and a good portion size.Charles and I decided to take away our meal and eat it down at the harbour which was rather romantic, if I do say so myself! There was a generous splashing of vinegar and a nice helping of salt, to my liking. The smell was rather fragrant and I do believe the local seagulls felt the same! My Haggis was very succulent and the batter was extra crispy and the chips were a nice combination of crunchy and fluffy. Absolutely delightful. Charles said his haddock was one of the best he had ever tasted. Even our dog, Pippin enjoyed a tasty treat after much begging! We have returned on a number of occasions and have never been disappointed. Treat yourself!

Called in after a long day out on the road the Skye and back.Fish and chips for 5 people came to around £25 which we thought was fairly reasonable.Fish was tasty, well cooked and batter crispy. Chips were well done and not dry.We would recommend it as a good local chippy - nice to pop in to when you don't feel like cooking after a long day out.

Avoid this place . Poorly cooked frozen fish and staff who see you as sn inconvenience. They add a 10% service charge and offer rubbish service.

No food on offer other than crisps, ice cream and a meagre offering of cake, shocked as we were there for a 1pm show and had travelled over an hour thinking we would be fine for lunch at the theatre. Staff were fine, no hint of getting things done in a timely fashion and not much interaction with customers. Decor is depressing, such a big space makes it cold and echoey. Just no atmosphere whatsoever. Very disappointed and won't be back.

We stayed at this Inn/Hotel at the beginning of November, returning home we received an email asking us to review our stay. This we did by email, however, we did not receive a reply nor did we receive a reply to our follow up copy email, which I now type below. "Many thanks for your email, usually we send a report good or bad to Tripadvisor, as you have asked for feedback I am happy to share our thoughts with you initially. I have an email from you confirming our reservation from the 4th to the 8th November, 2024 in a Garden Room. This was because we have a dog and thought this would be an easier option should she need to go outside. When we arrived we had NOT been booked into a Garden Room for our five nights, as per your confirmation. We were offered a garden room for 3 nights and two other nights elsewhere within the hotel. I really did not feel changing rooms, packing and unpacking for two nights was a good idea, so we opted to stay again in Room 111 for the five night stay. I am sure you will agree, this was not a good start to our holiday. I spoke to another couple who had also booked a garden room only to find they too had been misallocated a room and these long established customers were very upset and vowed not to return next year for their 8th year. I feel it necessary to draw to your attention the lack of servicing for Room 111. Each day our duvet was "just turned over at the top", the bottom sheet was not straightened and the pillows were as we had arisen, not even straightened and aligned. The cleanliness in the bathroom left much to be desired. As I am sure you are aware there is no toilet brush next to the lavatory. The toilet was not cleaned throughout our stay and the bowl after five nights was turning a light shade of brown, however, diligent attention was paid to folding and making the spare toilet roll and the one for use look pretty. I would have preferred a clean toilet. This takes me on to the bath. On arrival there was a single long dark hair in the bath, as we did not use the bath and both have grey hair, this was still there when we left!! The shower doors require a thorough clean and polish, there is black mould on the wall and around the base of the shower. During our stay this was NOT cleaned at all. Mould and Mildew spray with a toothbrush would solve this problem. Likewise the wash hand basin was neglected. No dusting or vacuuming was carried out in the room for the duration of our stay. For your information I left a piece of cotton and a clean tissue on the floor and they were not picked up. When we had dinner in the bar area dogs were quite welcome. However, in the morning we did feel rather like second class citizens as we were with other dog owners required to use the alternative dining room, which was uninviting and a long way from the self-service area in the breakfast room. On two days for breakfast we were along with four other owners with dogs, allowed to use the breakfast room. No explanation was given for the flexible rule. To end on a good note, the staff were pleasant and helpful, always willing to assist in anyway they could. It is with interest I await your response. " On our next trip to Scotland we shall stay elsewhere.
