Dollingtons Fish Bar in Warrington

Everything that’s made here is fresh. The pies and everything are all home made. It takes me back to living with my Nan. The food is first rate every time I order from here.

Drove here to finally try it as keep hearing good things but it’s closed. 7pm on a Friday and Google and Facebook both say it’s open. Tried to call but number doesn’t seem to be working. Has it shut down?

A Hidden Gem Discovered! Residing in Warrington for nearly four decades, Dollington's Fish Bar had eluded me until now. Despite consistently hearing praises, I only visited them today - a decision that led to no regrets. The cleanliness of Dollington's was immediately noticeable, complemented by the courteous and accommodating owners. The service was impeccable. Notably, their choice to fry in beef dripping, a personal favourite of mine, enticed me to try a variety of their dishes. Each was flawless. The fish was plump, the batter crispy and tasty, the chips were thick, absorbing the flavour of the beef dripping, and the pie was exceptional. The braising steak featured tender chunks of steak in the tastiest gravy. Overall, Dollington's earns a well-deserved five stars from me, and I eagerly anticipate my next visit. Great traditional chippy. Cooked yorkshire style in beef dripping, great fish and also make their own pies. The pies are available cold and, although limited in variety and only in individual sizes, the steak and the chicken and bacon are as good as to-pie-for or tomlins

Excellent value and all cooked to order. The owner is so friendly & always takes the time to chat, regardless of how busy they are. They had an offer of Haddock, Chips and a choice of peas, gravy or curry for £6.50 & the fish was immense! Would highly recommend 👌

Good food good prices and very friendly service

Not as good as our usual Dam lane chippy. Not good quality and won't be going again. Could taste the oil it was cooked in. Big portions but rather have quality than quantity.

Lovely family ran fish and chips. Always feel welcome and service (and chat) is superb! Food is fresh, prepared with care and even though we live a 15 drive away the fish is still nice and crispy when you get it home. Highly recommended

It's one of the best fish and chips I've had around here. We had it with mushy peas and some chicken nuggets. I'm going back for more. A very friendly man at the counter too.

A bit hidden location and no parking

Never again. Nowhere to park, had to park in disable bay and leave engine running. Only 1 customer before me, took 20 mins from me serving to leaving. Website says they take card payments, then they told me they do not take card, had to go and find a cash machine at the co-op. We went to this chippy as it’s supposed to be ‘the best’ in Warrington. 1st visit and last. Would not recommend. Be quicker and easier to order food through just-eat.

Absolutely useless yet again collected order and wrong so yet again eating a cold meal has had to go back to collect missing items. How can you forget to put chips in when you are a chip shop. I strongly advise that you check order when collecting.

We had a party for our Daughter Ebony’s 21st. She didn’t want a fancy buffet she just wanted chip barms. Dollingtons the chips were amazing and the barms to die for. Everybody commented how wonderful they were. You delivered on time to the venue, Thank you for making another wish on her special day happen. Can’t recommend you enough so helpful with what we wanted and needed. Just Perfect.

Best fish and chips in Warrington. Every item I tried (cod, chips and braised steak) was head and shoulders above anything else I've tried in the area. The team here know their stuff and every item is delivered to the highest standard. The staff were also thoroughly lovely. If I could give it a 6 I would.

Amazing chippy! Absolute hidden gem, the beef dripping makes everything to die for, shout out the the owners. Fish is always spot on and recently tried the braised steak… words can’t describe how tasty! Best thing is, you don’t feel terrible after it, must be down to doing things Propper, not in veg oil ! Dollingtons is definitely a hidden gem, the best fish and chip shop in Warrington! Everything fresh and cooked perfectly. We never go anywhere else for fish&chips, it’s unreal! Very good portion sizes as well and the owner is really lovely

Absolutely fantastic fish and chips, you don't get many like this these days! I also ordered a spam fritter and a cheese and onion cake to try which were also fab. Was a pleasure to speak to the owner when I collected too.

Best fish and chips in a 20 mile radius.

Good price, £4.50 for the fish, chips and mushy peas and around £3 for the donner meat. Donner meat was not really good at all. Fish and chips were decent but not as special as the high ratings suggest in my opinion. This place offers lot's of unusual menu items, I'm I'll come to try them sometime and amend my rating as appropriate.

Great fish and chips cooked old school,,very tasty. Also had Staek pie which was delicious. Staff/owners very polite. Will definitely recommend

This is by far the best fish and chips in Warrington. I come from sea port and have found it ridiculously difficult to find a decent fish fryers in Warrington until we discovered Dollingtons. They fry the fish in the traditional way and it tastes delicious. Chips are also lovely, proper chippy chips. The other astonishing rarity is they make their own pies including 2 of my favourite steak and a cherry one too, We haven't tried the others yet. Plus really big home made onion rings. £5 for 2 haddocks is unheard of in Warrington or most towns. We read about it in the Guardian and unless you knew about it you wouldn't find this little gem. The only draw back is parking on Dudley street. Really friendly chatty people who own it which makes It feels like a community with the friendly folk who come in. If we could give more stars we would!

Received portion of donner meat tonight that cost £4.90. Small greasy portion that tasted awful and wasnt worth the money at all. Had few nice orders from here recently aswell so disappointed tonight.

Top quality food, I was working nearby and had to visit just for the smell coming out of the fans at the back, he cooks in beef dripping which is unusual this side of the Pennines. Really nice guy who owns it told me you don't get indigestion like you do with veg oil and he was right, also do fantastic sweet pies with custard. I don't live in the area but would definitely make the effort to come again.

Really Good Fish and Chips. Probably the best in Warrington.. Its Close... but I think this might have just edged it based on quality and price. Only snag was I had to wait quite a bit after ordering. I'm all for waiting.. but service was a bit slow, hence 4 🌟.

Awful experience. I bought fish and mushy peas from here. The fish was terrible..Lots of grey, instead of white flakes of fish. All along the bottom about a quarter of an inch thick. Safe to say i will NOT be visiting this chippy again. Shouldn't be serving fish to customers like that.... Response to the owner. I came in at night last week. A lad served me. Even the mushy peas were only just over half full in the tub..

In town for the weekend, and drove here from Sankey based on Google reviews / fact it was one of my childhood chippers. Took 87 minutes to get served (not a typo - that's EIGHTY-SEVEN minutes!!!). I have never seen anything like the service here: decent queue outside when we got there, but expected on Good Friday / based on its rep. Very slow moving: assumed they'd run out of something, so were waiting for it to cook. After half an hour was up to shop front, so could see in - not that many people in front of us, and felt committed at that point, so said we'd stick and wait. Finally got into the shop - 8 people in front of us; took 45 minutes to serve them. Cooked to order, yes - but guys, seriously?!? Not an extensive menu, and everyone was getting, err.. fish and chips!! Slowest serving experience of my life. As for the food: flavour was good, fish of average quality, but batter not crispy & both that and the chips were super-greasy. Incredibly disappointing; would never return & people should be aware you might have to wait a ridiculous amount of time for pretty standard fair. Avoid.

Easy 5 star. Brilliant fish and chips, delicious home made pies, generous portions for the price and very friendly owners. Was looking for good fish and chips in town with dissapointing results, glad we found them. Their outstanding rating on google is well deserved.

In town for one night for work and found this little gem. Just had a simple cod, chips and mushy peas and it was delicious. Big portion, very friendly service and very inexpensive compared with what I pay at home. The rest of the menu looks great as well and I’ll certainly go there again next time. Highly recommended.

First time at the chipper, fish beautiful, chips not very good think they had been re-warmed due to the time I went around 1.45 p.m owner said not been busy for the last hour so that could I been why, didn’t eat chips,and husband didn’t either

Visited today had fish and chips (cod) and husband had corned beef cake and spam fritter with chips and gravy everything was delicious - husband particularly liked the corned beef fritter and the mushy peas were lovely to ! Must visit !!

Our go to plaice (pardon the pun) as it's the best Fish & Chip shop in Warrington. Have to drive a few miles to get there, but well worth it. Ticks every box and is highly recommended.

after mulling over tripadvisors guide, decided to walk 10 minutes to this unnassuming fish and chip shop. on arrival was met with a smile and a friendly attitude from the owners , a husband and wife team. i initially ordered the large cod, and was asked if i was sharing, i responded no, then i was shown the regular cod compared to the large, and immediatly changed my mind as it was massive! freshly cooked in proper lard not oil! not rushed and then rested to drain excess oil from the fish, great fish, well cooked with the crispiest batter and all for under a fiver! an all round gem and afirm favorite for the remainder of my stay in warrington, with one mission in mind! to finish a large cod! cant recommend highly enough!

After years of disappointment in our local chippy, we heard of a hidden treasure in the side streets of Orford. Thought it was a bit far to go usually, but decided to try last night on our way to the park. Wow, a proper chippy!...

Fantastic chippy. Quality food with unusual offerings, including braised steak and home made pies. They cook fish only when ordered ( as ALL chippys should) and offer Haddock as an alternative to nasty Cod. My go to chippy and great value to boot!
