Attended here Saturday in a group of 15. The food was excellent. Most of us had Steak, everybody commented how tasty it was. The chips were delicious. The service was very good. Well worth a visit.

We visited The Dog and Gun after seeing the beautiful food photographs on the website. At first we wondered if we were in the right place; the initial look of the Dog and Gun is less 'modern gastropub' than the website food pictures suggest, but the atmosphere was warm and cosy, the welcome from the landlord equally as friendly and the food was AMAZING! We had the halloumi fries with thyme honey to start (what a revelation, need to buy thyme honey now!) followed by fish and chips and a chicken burger. Our main courses were very generously portioned (note to self, dont eat lunch if you're going there for tea), fresh, super tasty and beautifully presented. Home made chips are to doe for! Thank you for a superb evening meal, we will be back. Highly recommended!

Wow, it’s not much to look, at inside or out, but the food and service were fantastic. Very much recommended for great food in a traditional atmosphere.

Smallest amount of meat I have ever had on a Sunday lunch. The pictures on the website must be of another pub! Where was the roaring fire? Never even too my coat off ! Ambiance? Missing! Sorry but not what it said on the tin!

This pub has changed so much over the last few years. Went on a Saturday teatime to try the food. We both had the steak pies with mash and minted peas. Food was lovely all home cooked. Will try the Sunday lunch next time

We booked a table of four for a Friday evening as my friend had been recommended the pub. Three of us ordered the pie and one ribs for mains. All the food was good and we also ordered one chocolate brownie and one bread and butter pudding which were also good. The waitress was lovely and very friendly. My only criticism is the fact that the menu at the pub and the menu on line are very different. The choice was not as varied and I was disappointed with this.

We'd called here for drinks on a sunny day to sit by the river, but had not eaten here. This small pub, is how pubs used to be. Full of character, a mixture of old and new. Music fans will love the memorabilia on the walls. Being a good Lincolnshire lass I went for sausage and mash. Don't be fooled by the simple title though, this was delicious butchers sausages browned to perfection, placed on top of buttery, mustard mash. A good smattering of fresh peas and caramelised onions, finished with a perfect proper gravy. When the food took half an hour 1. we didn't mind a bit sitting by the window relaxing and 2. we knew it was gonna be freshly cooked food. 10/10 Chef! So we'll be booking and heading in for Sunday lunch next time we're back in Lincolnshire. Pink beef, what's not to like...

The Dog and Gun in East Butterwick did not fail to offer the best Sunday lunch I've had in a very long time ... Our family consisted of 11 people which did not faze the kitchen .. everything that was put in front of us was devoured .. everything arrived piping hot .. delicious fare .. scummy puddings .. terrific service from very pleasant .. kind and helpful staff .. well worth a visit but be warned it's a busy busy place which is always a good sign ... Highly recommended

Recently visited on a Saturday night with friends for a meal. Quite a varied menu, we all had starters and a main course, everything on the menu was available and they were happy to tweek some of the ingredients to suit. Considering it was fairly busy both in the bar and people eating, the service was excellent, very friendly, not too long to wait between courses. Also worth trying was their own specialty beers brewed on site. We will return.

The meal takes a long time to arrive, but this was made longer by having to re-order because the first choice (pork ribs) of three people was not available. The replacement dish was disappointing also, a rather durable pork cutlet. The pies and gammon were good however. Ambience fine, beer excellent, staff pleasant and welcoming. Perhaps we were a bit unlucky.

In my head I only knew this pub from my dad going in there about 20years ago with local farmers... In his own words there was sawdust on the floor.. bus seats for chairs... An alsation eating pickled eggs... And a smell of dog fart luckily I read reviews on here and went today. Delicious Sunday lunch... Not a great meat eater but the beef was divine. All the trimmings tasted lovely (I usually hate a Sunday roast due to boiled veg) everything was spot on. Definitely will go again on a weekday..or a Sunday. Very very good.

Incredible food at this place, can’t fault it! Sunday roast is the best I have had in a long time! The reviews are not wrong and we had a moment to chat with the head chef, he is trained to a very high culinary level having run fine dining restaurants in Yorkshire before. It is no surprise the food is presented like you are dining in an expensive city restaurant. The presentation can’t be faulted, it’s really impressive and tastes as good as it looks! We will be coming back for definite

This really is an absolute gem in the area. Every meal I have had has been excellent and the value is astonishing. Our go to place for Sunday dinners and also excellent for evening meals. The beef is smoky and melt in the mouth and the veg is always cooked perfectly. Good proper beer, nice wine and friendly service. I hesitate to review so positively in fear of it becoming overly busy

What a fantastic little gem The Dog & Gun is! I have visited this establishment a few times now and I am more enamoured with every time. The food is some of the best I’ve had and the prices are positively a steal. The meats are usually cooked over a wood-fired grill infusing them with mouth-watering flavours. Desserts are homemade and of the highest standard. All of this against a backdrop of the river Trent whereby you can sit and enjoy great food and drink at very reasonable prices. I can wholeheartedly recommend a detour via East Butterwick to sample one of the tastiest steaks you’re likely to find in the district.

We stumbled across this place by trip advisor chance (whilst on the hunt for a dog friendly pub). The Sunday lunch was incredible, above and beyond ‘pub’ expectations. We loved it so much, we went the following week to sample the normal (non-Sunday) menu and safe to say that didn’t disappoint either. Very, very good food and not nearly enough reviews to give the credit deserved. We’ll be back again I’m sure! A great atmosphere with a friendly barman too.

It's been a long while since I had a meal in a country pub that has a real touch of quality, nearly always pub grub is dissapointing. Not so at the dog and gun. The kitchen team is small, headed by an enthusiastic and talented young chef. Lots of care with the preparation, presentation and flavours of the dishes we all had, not cheap, but worth the extra.

Popped in to meet Joe the landlord and thoroughly enjoyed the bar with its roaring fire. Tasted a couple of the real ales and totally enjoyed chatting to the locals. On the banks of the Trent, a little cold for sitting outside but can see it is a great fishing spot.

Another fabulous exquisite meal when my husband & I visited once again. Today my husband chose for starters the Wild Pigeon Breast cooked in brandy, cherries, walnuts& served with beetroot & parsnip crisps. Mains he had the Wild game pot pie which consisted of venison, rabbit, pigeon served with mash, leeks & sprouts. I chose the Scallops cooked with mushrooms, tarragon sauce & gryere. Mains my favourite once again Sirloin steak with blue cheese sauce. At The Dog & Gun you get what it says on the menu, fresh locally source produce, cooked on charcoal by fantastic chefs who take pride in producing a fine plate of food for their customers. Everything is cooked to order so don't expect fast food & believe me when I say it's well worth the wait plus you certainly will not be disappointed. Two courses for £23 each amazing. Our thanks to Joe & his team for another exceptional meal with welcoming staff who clearly enjoy their roles at The Dog & Gun.

Lincolnshire may be one of England's most important food-growing areas, but eating out here has always disappointed. The Dog and Gun goes some way to rectifying this, with a menu of genuinely locally sourced produce of fine quality. The vibe's not bad, either - if you're into punk memorabilia. What's not to love...

It’s quite difficult to find somewhere to eat out in this area on a Sunday evening that doesn’t exclusively serve roasts but the Dog & Gun also offers a “pub classics” menu alongside which we found hit the spot perfectly. I had the steak pot pie and my wife had the fish & chips. The pie was excellent, one of the best I’ve had but the fish and chips were absolutely superb. The fish is fresh, never frozen, and the batter is just amazing. I’m determined to come again and try the ‘large’ version of the same, although I’ll have to go without starter or dessert. The staff are friendly and there’s a lovely warm atmosphere among the diners who will happily share their recommendations as to what to try next time (pretty much everything it seems). The beer, brewed in their own micro-brewery is very tasty - I had “three point six” which is a citrusy hoppy style light ale and I could have stayed on that all night if we didn’t have to get home. We will definitely return.

We love it here at the Dog and Gun. The food is always top notch and the real ale good too. Staff are friendly and they allow dogs in there. The only criticism i have (and the only reason they dont get 5 stars) is that service can sometimes be a bit slow. Being a very small place they often end up overwhelmed with customers and i guess sometimes slightly understaffed. However the food is so good its worth the wait.

We were taken by friends to this gorgeous refurbished pub and restaurant. It’s right on the river and it was tranquil. Inside is a proper pub and micro brewery. I am assured that the beer was top rate, my husband enjoyed the Randy Todger! The food was fresh, very well priced for the quality and the onion rings immense. The coleslaw was light, fresh and well seasoned, chips double cooked and so well presented. Do have a run out watch the world go by and then enjoy the food.

We always used to visit here when Dixie and Judy had the place, always made to feel welcome. Not been for ages and we decided to take another look after hearing that it had been under new management for sometime. The place looks great for having a revamp and glad to see they have still kept the bus seats in the small bar side. Still dog friendly and great to see that they now serve food. Beer is still well kept especially from the micro brewery at the back and staff are welcoming even though it is very popular with its regulars. Will have to return to sample the food so watch this space for another review when that happens. Nice setting on the river bank as well.

I thoroughly enjoyed the sausage and egg bap which really was not only excellent value for money but also extremely tasty. I also very much approved of the very nice cappuccino which was in my view so much better than many others I have had in other cafes. The menu options were also really good compared to many others.

We were in Brigg for a while on Saturday. We called in here for lunch & weren't disappointed with our choice of food. My smoked salmon & cream cheese sandwich was lovely it came with crisps & a small side salad. The mug of tea was piping hot. My friend had a jacket potato with tuna filling but was a little disappointed as there was no butter in the potato. One of the men had a small breakfast & the other had a large breakfast. We were mainly satisfied apart from the lack of butter. We would definitely eat here again. The staff were very polite & the service was good too.
