Me and four friends stayed here for 3 nights this week as a base for a motorcycle trip after being recommended by friends. The price of a room was so reasonable we took a room each. The rooms were spotless and lovely, used towels and tea and coffee replaced each day and the beds remade, my bed was so comfy. Breakfast each morning was just right, even accommodating my plant based needs. The Staff were brilliant and friendly. The pub is in the heart of Beverley so finding places to eat in the evening was easy. ( can recommended Mowgli's ). All in all a great stay and highly recommended. Thankyou to all the staff

The Dog & Duck is a traditional and friendly local pub consisting of a bar and lounge area to the front and a snug towards the back. There are real fires to each end of the divided front space and the bar has six decent cask ales on, served well and at a good price. The décor is bright and bold revealing its 1930's heritage, with a loud red proper pub carpet, maroon brentwood seating and plenty of polished brass. There are no dark corners to hide away in here but that just all adds to the wonderful community feeling of being welcomed into a family home. There's sport on the large TV in the bar but also plenty of space to sit and relax out of the way. Apparently the food they serve in the lounge is very popular. There's also some separate accommodation buildings at the rear which could be a good place to stay over if you're visiting. This pub really was a little treat and not what we were expecting, it turned out to be a great characterful and welcoming place, certainly worth popping by for a couple of pints.

Decided to stops here for drinks on a family getaway in Beverley, the pub itself is nice, very old fashioned but homely, the problem we had was the rudeness of the landlord, we had about 4 rounds in total and each time we went to the bar he was very rude. On the last encounter at the bar my adult daughter and son-in-law were ignored 3 times as he served regulars coming up to the bar one after another, my son-in-law asked if he could be served as he'd been waiting a while and the guy flipped his lid, pointing his finger and raising his voice at my son-in-law. His behaviour was disgraceful. Its a real shame because it spoiled our afternoon. We most certainly will not be going back again.

Don’t order the pensioners meals, it is served on a plate the size of a saucer! Buy a normal size meal and leave what you can’t eat for the price difference. Better to be full than leaving hungry. Not value for money the pensioners portion.

Been is several times and cannot fault the place. Friendly tradional pub, even the background music is to me liking, mostly 60's and 70's. If you want to eat I suggest you book in advance because this smallish pub is very popular and when your food arrives you can see why. Excellent value, £8.50 to £5.95 on portion choice and its just good old fashion tasty home cooked pub grub. Nothing fancy and it arrives piping hot and I haven't had a bad dish yet. This is a very well run pub popular with locals and tourists alike, the landlord, landlady, and staff are friendly and helpful no matter how busy they are. Good choice of ales too which change during the week. The B@B side seems to be popular too. This is how pubs should be and long may they continue.

We came across this by chance, popping in for a quick lunch before going to the races. This is a proper community pub. The landlord and landlady were very friendly, welcoming and hospitable. The beer was clear as a bell and at the top of it’s game. The lunches were well cooked, substantial and very tasty (one of our group ordered Jacket potato with chicken curry. It arrived in the form of Chicken curry with jacket potato there was that much of it!). There were plenty of local pensioners in as well enjoying pensioner’s special lunches which appeared no different to ours only a bit cheaper for them, which I thought was lovely. Unfortunately pubs like this seem to be getting fewer and fewer, if you’re ever in the area I would recommend that you give this one a go I don’t think you’ll be disappointed, and if you live in the area and you haven’t tried it, you really ought to. If I lived I. Beverley, it would probably be my local.

We stayed here for a few nights whilst playing golf in the area. The pub has parking but make sure you arrive via Dog & Duck Lane and not Ladygate for access. The accommodation is in a seperate building at the rear of the pub, so it's quiet and we enjoyed unbroken sleep. The bedrooms are on two floors, so if you have restricted mobility do check which floor your room is on (stairs are quite steep). Beds are comfortable. Plenty of hot water. Wifi works ok. Breakfast was plentiful and kept us going through the days' golfing. Staff were great. Beer was exceptional (CAMRA accredited). Locals in bar were really chatty. Cost of B&B was good value for money.

Had heard good reports about the place "same family running it for 40 years"....."people queue to get in Sunday lunch" so we thought we would try it. First impression was that it was a lovely old fashioned pub, beer & lagers at less than £3 a pint, a glass of Prosecco just £2.75. The edge is taken off by the TV screens and games machines. The majority of the clientele were definitely in their twilight years, with a number known by name, possibly attracted by the price: £6.25 for a main course or two courses for £7.50. The chicken was available on or off the bone and the beef was good. The veg (peas, French beans, carrots, mashed and roasted potatoes) were piled high on a salad plate topped with a Yorkshire pudding. This is not a 'gastropub' and it should be accepted for what it is. We wouldn't want to go back but all the people we spoke to in the pub were regular diners.

The staff are excellent, good range of beers and wines, traditional food menu and there is always a fire burning in the grate [ apart from that day in August when the Sun comes out ].

Called into the Dog and Duck Beverley for a bite to eat. Very pleasant establishment, friendly staff and a warm log fire. My meal was very filling having steamed fish with cheese and tomato on it, vegetables and mash. Safe for this Coeliac, my company had hickory chicken and chips. Well worth calling in.

We were in there for new years eve, what a great night. We went to Beverley for 3 days over the new year as we do every year. We go to the dog and duck everytime we are in Beverley because of the atmosphere.

My friend and I were going to walk into the centre of Beverley for lunch but, as we were soaked from the rain stopped off slightly early into the Dog & Duck, as I suspected they could have a coal fire on the go and they did, so we had the opportunity to dry out, get warm, have some black sheep and get some lunch. Great stay-we both had Christmas lunch, followed by a dessert. Very nice food in a very nice traditional homely pub.

We had seen this pub on the internet as 'one to visit'.It was OK but a bit like walking into a time warp. The decor was very 80s/90s with wallpaper that had a 'sponging' effect of yellow and red. The carpet again was very dated a deep red pile and the music was Stock, Aitken And Waterman, not that there's anything wrong with that! Just setting the scene :) Having said all that it wasn't uninviting and was very clean and well lit and the service was good. The wine was cheap but I detected that it wasn't 11%, tasted more like 7%, so that probably explains the cost.

We gound this little gem by accident and what a find.We walked in and were warmly greeted by the very friendly bar staff. We got a nice table to enjoy our beer's ,my friend's enjoyed their lager's while i opted for DIRECTORS BITTER,this was just superb and hat's off to the staff they certainly know how to look after their beer's and ale's.The pub is mostly in my opinion a local's pub for the older generation and this is why the atmosphere was so nice, good banter and a smashing vibe to the place. The pub area of this establishment is very traditional and cosy. You will find the pub a little out of the centre and the main tourist walk's on LADYGATE.Opening hour's are;Monday to Sunday, open from 11am.

It's a proper pub with friendly staff and good value fresh cooked food. Highly recommend the hot beef sandwiches and the chips which are the real deal, not frozen or oven chips.

I highly recommend the Dog & Duck Inn I really enjoy my visits because of the friendly welcome which you always get from Mark and the staff it is super. I enjoy being able to eat in a relaxed friendly atmosphere and I look forward to sitting around the lovely open fire. There is a varied menu and the food is very good. I really enjoy the Steak Pie and Chips and it is a reasonable price. I regularly eat at the Dog and Duck.

Went here for a drink and to watch the football on Sky. To say that it was a bit like walking in a saloon where everyone stopped talking and stared at you is an understatement. We also think we had sat in 'someone's usual seat' as someone sat so close to us, we left after the one drink - the pub was only a quarter full for goodness sake! First impressions count and this impression was not a good one.

We have been going to the Dog and Duck for a couple of years now and have never had a bad meal. The food is fresh, home cooked, always piping hot and excellent quality. It is also very reasonably priced so represents great value for money. It's a family run pub, the service is great and the staff are always friendly. We strongly recommend this pub and this is why we often go twice a week.

We visited here for lunch based off recommendation and good reviews. I don't know who reviewed it but they lied. The staff were largely a miserable bunch, no chat, no smiles got the sense they wanted
