Cold food not enough staff The staff making the coffees had to go to the till while other customers food went cold . The staff were amazing . Worked hard but too much work for them with the amount of customers there was . We did not eat or return the cold food because of the queues . I went a couple of weeks ago and same issue . I thought it may have been a one off but obviously not .

I had an afternoon tea experience with some of my mum-friends. We took all our 6 kids with us who also had a kids version of their afternoon tea. Lovely food, great service, nice cafe. Seemed very kids friendly. I have also bought some beautiful plants in the garden centre so it was a successful day out!

Usually go to other places for fish for my aquarium but was told that fish from dobbies was good. Even after I seen the extra cost of fish I continued to give them a go. Unfortunately one of my flame tetras has died within days of having it and always looked like it was struggling. My mollies were fine but now have ich. Tank was perfect and other fish was healthy and happy before adding fish from here. Very disappointed that you pay a fare bit extra to have fish with diseases sold to you.

By 4pm on a Saturday the cafe seemed to be short staffed ,all the hot food had been removed, chairs placed on top of tables and only one till in operation. There was food debris on the floor and a queue for drinks as the self service hot drinks was out of order.

Went for an afternoon coffee. I have never been before so didn’t really understand how it worked. The cakes were on one side of the room and then the server stood at the other. I told the server what coffee i wanted and that i also wanted a cake but she didn’t explain what the situation was. As I presumed they would give it to you but there was also a woman who helped herself so I was rather lost. I then had to go to a different area where there was a till. The man just stood and looked at me even though he saw i had just ordered with his co-worker who told him to put it through the till. The coffee and meringue were genuinely really nice, it’s just such a strange set up that’s just not intuitive at all and with staff that were probably too tired at the end of a long shift.

We stopped at Dobbies for lunch today (Sunday) as it was early and usually you can get fairly good food here. We were very very disappointed to say the least. The hot food was mainly Sunday roast with veg. The choice was between turkey, pork and beef. The veg selection was peas, corn, carrots and broccoli which were okay. The roast potatoes were hard, the yorkies were awful - rubbery and cold. The gravy was very watery and tasteless. Another hot food was fish and chips which was fine - we had to wait for quite some time for it, ,didn't really mind as the restaurant was busy. The pot of tea was cold. This was the worst meal I have had there... considering the prices we paid for it. Dobbies have a good reputation for quality products - whether it were plants or food in the restaurant. Today's experience totally changed that. I hope the management takes heed as they have certainly lost some very loyal customers.

Arrived at 12pm , the cooked food was just being put out. 2 staff members on the soup and sandwiches counter but no sign of anyone serving the hot food. After several minutes a guy appeared and started to unwrap all the salads and cheese. After more minutes he started to serve up. He had no idea what he was doing and he was on his own. Eventually got my order taken only to find a huge queue at the coffee department and check out. Again only one member of staff on each department. There was a massive queue behind me. The macaroni cheese I had was very tasty I must admit. They need more staff on.

This establishment really do need to invest in more staff. Once again the coffee machine was out of action, which meant big queues. By the time you get your coffee and then move to the tea queue, the coffee is cold.

We came here Sunday morning. The food was OK but it took too long to get served (30 minutes from joining the queue) so our food wasn’t as fresh as we hoped by the time we sat down. The staff are trying their best but it needs more hands and/or an experienced manager to run things more efficiently.

Really disappointing visit. By the time I got to the table everything was cold. Why? Large queue and only one person on the till. My wife is gluten free and was advised that the gluten free cake was where the purple tongs were. Obviously, the purple tongs had been put on the wrong cake, as when we got home she had massive stomach pains. Management needs to be visible (not hiding somewhere)

Very disappointed with our experience. My dad is in a wheelchair after a bad stroke and is limited to what he can eat and he can only eat small portion. After queuing with my elderly mum and my dad in a wheelchair my dad asked for a small macaroni. He was told they don’t do a small macaroni. I asked to speak to the manageress and she confirmed they only do a small tomato pasta for children. I asked if she could put it through as this and got a no. My dad didn’t want anything else so we left. Felt like we were in a canteen with no flexibility. I wrote 2 emails to Dobbies with no response.

Went here with the family, the staff were very helpful in letting us know where we can find what we are looking for. Went to the café for some lunch, the scones and cake were very nice, the cheese panini was good. Got a good amount tea for three. Got through the check out quickly. The environment was nice, the toilets are clean. Wheelchairs are provided at the front for anyone who requires them. My brother enjoyed the aquarium area.

Very disappointed compared to last year's experience. Almost no atmosphere at the grotto at all the staff had zero energy didn't make it enjoyable for the kids. Santa was fine but the rest ruined it. Whoever reviewed the set up and said it was good to go needs a word in my opinion. Won't be back next year.

Don't waste your money, the food was horrible cold and uncooked. The place its self is freezing cold and the staff just rude. They don't care when you complain and it was over run with dogs, we were there for the meet Santa experience again don't waste your money and my granddaughter is petrified of dogs so not a good experience for her. We bought baubles no tissue to wrap things up and not even a word spoken from the person that served us shocking . To sum up just don't go avoid at all cost

Lovely breakfast served by the very friendly staff. Very generous portions and very tasty. Came in nice and early so queues were minimal.

Went to the cafe on a Friday lunchtime. The queue was almost out of the door. Layout not very well organised. You are running the gauntlet with your tray once you get you food, as the till to pay is quite far away and no more than 2 people can put their trays down at one time, so you have to precariously hold your tray until you can pay. I had a coronation chicken sandwich which was ok. Had a portion of chips but they were near enough stone cold.

Service was so, so slow. Food was partly cooked. Inedible. Took it to the till and was refunded. On a positive note the Coffee was nice, but I'll never be back to have another.

This cafe has only a tiny area for dogs. I sat in the wrong area at first and was told to move tables. To be honest I was scared the dog would get dirty off the carpet anyway! You can take dogs into many hotels , cafes and shops. What damage would a dogs do to Dobbies restaurant?, quite the opposite I think - they’d cheer the place up a bit which is much needed !! The carpets are absolutely filthy , and the restaurant generally looked dirty and unkept. No attention to detail whatsoever. Staff are unfriendly and the cakes are overpriced for the quality - which is very poor. The whole place requires some refurbishment. It’s bare and cold. The coffee area and tills just don’t work as it’s a total bottle neck and you wait ages for service then again to pay. I can’t believe the restaurant still attracts trade ! Management - get it sorted out please !

Overpriced and all members of staff looked like they hated being there. Ps food was awful, cakes are not fresh they are bought in as the bakery is now closed

First impression, car park large amount of pot holes and outside looks unkempt. Inside not much better, cafe bleak and unwelcoming, staff quite friendly. Cherry scone……..find the cherry. Coffee ok However it was the toilets that were a disgrace Filthy throughout, dust and dirt everywhere, vents disgusting. Tiles missing and shabby Check list said they were checked regularly, not sure what was being checked. The toilet block hadn’t had a proper clean for a long time Most of the sinks had filthy bits of paper saying not in use and tap area tapped over. Go to Kellockbank and see how a garden centre should be presented to the paying public.

We were greeted by a very sullen member of staff. No interaction what so ever. Great sighs when asked to prepare the meals at the same time instead of a mass separation. Coughing over food with no hand/forearm up to mouth. All quite shocking. When our meals arrived they were bland and very expensive for what was produced. I had fish and chips at £11.75. Ridiculous. I didn't bank on it being so meagre. An orange juice for £2.45! Not an enjoyable experience.

Acabo de visitar el café en Dobbies Aberdeen y no volveré. En otros lugares te llevan a tu mesa pero no aquí. De acuerdo, las mesas estaban bien espaciadas y se limpiaban con regularidad. Notamos que dos mujeres se sentaron en una mesa para 4. Sin embargo, antes de sentarse, movieron un poco una de las dos mesas. Esto se explicó cuando otras dos mujeres se sentaron allí y comenzaron a tener una hermosa charla. Ahora, a menos que me equivoque mucho, era una fiesta de 4 hogares. No fueron desafiados en absoluto. A todos nos encantaría reunirnos en grupos de más de dos hogares pero, a diferencia de estas mujeres, seguimos las reglas. Estas mujeres tenían alrededor de 60 años y deberían saberlo mejor. Además, no había carteles que le indicaran salir del restaurante, por lo que podía pasear por cualquier lugar. Estuve allí con mi hermana por su cumpleaños. Pedí un capuchino solicitando que estuviera muy caliente. Mi hermana tenía un flat white. Ambos elegimos bollos de queso. Ambos cafés estaban apenas tibios, así que los devolví y pedí más calientes. ¡Ninguna diferencia! ! Abrí el bollo no pude ver queso ni sabor alguno, totalmente insípido. Had a long drive so stopped here for lunch. Treated to a very heart feed. Tasty soups and freshly made baguette sandwiches. Highly recommend . Big empire biscuits too.

Dobbies restarants are all similar but for a freshly prepared light lunch that is fine. Not central in town - out west so it is a place to go by car. The plants &c were there but it was not the time of yesr for us to buy.

Visited the coffee shop with a friend last week. Selection very good but self service coffee station was a bit of a mess. Spilled milk not cleaned up. Took staff a while to clear tables. However lovely outlook from the restaurant. Hope next time I visit it will be cleaner

After visiting Dobbies for the first time last week, I was quite impressed by their food hall and the quality of some of their products, albeit over priced. I noticed they had a cafe so decided that I’d take the family there for lunch on Sunday as a special treat.My children and I decided to have the lentil soup at £4.95 a bowl. Next to the soups there was a huge basket of scones and a few brown gluten free rolls. I asked the waitress what bread you get with the soup and she pointed to the scones. I’ve never seen sweet scones being given with soup before! It sounded awful so I asked if they had any ‘normal’ bread, as I don’t like gluten free rolls. She said there was only a heel left of the normal bread so I decided, reluctantly to just have that. My daughter had the gluten free roll with her soup and my son had the scone. My partner asked for a tuna mayo sandwich in gluten free bread. The tiny portion of tuna looked like grey sludge and the salad was just thrown together and looked old. The tasteless lentil and bacon soup had PEAS in it! I’ve never seen lentil soup with peas in it before. It was disgusting and the only heel of bread in the whole cafe I’d been given was GLUTEN FREE! A plate of saw dust would have tasted better. I tried the scone my son got for his soup and it was really sweet. How on earth do they think a scone with soup is a good idea???? My daughter couldn’t eat her brown gluten free roll as it was hard. Our lunch was just awful. As for the state of the place, we found it hard to find a table that had been cleared and cleaned. The place was an utter shambles. Honestly, this was the worst dining experience we’ve had for a very long time. We most definitely will not be returning. A TOTAL WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. After a fine Sunday outing to Hazelhead Park, with our family member's dog, we drove to Dobbies for lunch and a look.The placed was packed. Ample parking space, friendly staff and lots to see in the garden centre.A large queue for food, which isn't overly user friendly/efficiently set out, especially when trying to reach over to get produce through the queue. Our meal was fine, but expensive. Comfortable, clean table areas. There's also a dog friendly seating/table area put to the side, which was excellent (apart from several customers not seeing/reading the signs/notice explaining the area of segregation).Very clean toilets.

Always an easy choice. As a garden centre their food is always good and freshly prepared. But the best bit is the delicatessen section. They always have some really nice stuff, cheeses, vinegars etc.

After waiting to be served for several minutes even though there was nobody else in front of us, the food I received was not very nice at all. I asked for a toasted cheese panini and got an open warmed roll with a river of cheese, along with a small portion of salad and a handful of crisps. £6+. The coffee and hot chocolate was fine though again expensive. My mum had a bag of crisps £1.30The area which we sat in was cold and looking at other customers they must have felt it too as the majority of them including ourselves sat with jackets on or scarves round themselves to keep warm.We will not be returning

Have just visited Debbie’s after having an appointment at Woodend Hospital with my mum. Waited as two waitresses finished their conversation with each other, not sure what language they were talking in but as it was not busy and there were no one else to serve I would believe it wasn’t about an order. I asked for a toasted cheese panini she said “you only want cheese” to which I replied yes thank you. What I got was a slightly warmed untoastd open panini with melted cheese in the middle with a hanfull of crisps and a roughly thrown tiny bit of salad on the side. This costing £6+.

My sister took me here for afternoon tea for my birthday today. She is gluten free and she was supplied with a really lovely cake stand of sandwiches, scones and cakes. She also had soya milk with her tea. I had my own cake stand with equally love food. We had unlimited tea from a very attentive waitress. She provided us with boxes to take home our leftover goodies.

Not worth it.. Americano coffee served from a tiny machine not impressive. Scone with jam £3.10.... wow. Atmosphere awful.

Popped in with family for a browse amongst all the plants and clothing on view and had a coffee and cake in the restaurant.It was a bit expensive for the bakeries but the coffee was really good.Very impressed with the Christmas displays.

Ample parking space. Spacious restaurant area and good choices of food/drink, but far too expensive. Nice clean surroundings and comfortable seating arrangements. An enjoyable lunch was had by all, but please, knock your prices down a bit.

Dobbies today can only be described as a hell hole. Massive cues, not one table cleaned and cold mediocre light portions at over inflated prices. Not nearly enough staff to cope. Shame as usually love coming here. Two incessantly barking scrapping dogs really adding to the experience.

I visit fairly regularly and have always found their coffee, especially the latte, very good. Cakes are too large. If they were modestly sized I’d be more tempted.

We met friends here for morning coffee, and had unfortunately booked elsewhere for lunch as the sandwiches and cakes looked good. Next time.

Have been going to dobbies for breakfast every week and was disappointed to find they had changed the menu and you no longer can choose individual items to put on your plate guess me and the wife will have to look elsewhere for breakfast

Ages since we had been there. Couldn't remember all the outlets here. Butcher, Deli, Edinburgh wooden shop and many more... All quality outlets. The restaurant is very well run and the fare is fresh and excellent quality . We had intended buying an anniversary card, but in addition bought some bedding into the bargain!!! WILL RETURN.

Fui aquí un domingo por la tarde ajetreado para el té de la tarde, con un grupo de 7 amigos. Definitivamente necesito reservar. Comida brillante y atención al detalle. Uno de nuestro grupo era intolerante al gluten y lo había mencionado en la reserva y tenían pan y pasteles sin gluten todo listo. Todos los tipos de tés y cafés estaban disponibles y tantas recargas como se quisiera. Los sándwiches estaban recién hechos y todos los pasteles eran excelentes. Todo esto por 11 cada uno, brillante valor.

Hoy fui a comprar hierbas para el jardín, una sembradora y todo el equipo necesario para plantar y cuidarlas. No tenía ni idea, así que busqué ayuda. Finalmente, alguien pasó lo suficientemente cerca como para permitirme pedir ayuda. Me señalaron en la dirección de un miembro del personal que había estado conversando con la misma persona desde que había llegado. Me paré y me quedé esperando. El miembro del personal y otra persona eran obviamente buenos amigos. No hay problema con eso, pero asumí que ella la interrumpiría para conversar para ayudar a un cliente. De ninguna manera. Me quedé durante 10 minutos, por lo que era obvio que estaba esperando ayuda. Finalmente, me di por vencido después de que el miembro del personal acompañó a su compañero a la puerta y luego continuó la conversación junto con otro miembro del personal que pasó por delante de mí para llegar al chat. Went here for a snack before heading into Aberdeen. We both had Americano coffees and shared an egg baguette which came with salad and crisps. The coffee and the baguette was both good. Good choice of cakes, sandwiches and hot food to choose from.

Fuimos a echar un vistazo y visitar la sección Fishkerper para comer algo de peces de colores. El personal era muy servicial como siempre. Me decepcionó mucho la selección de pasteles que se podía comprar en la panadería. Terminé comprando algunos de la cafetería para llevar y nos cobraron el precio de comer. Muy decepcionado y me sentí estafado.
