Waiting 1hr and a half for breakfast

Unfortunately had a terrible experience here for breakfast this morning. The pub was fairly busy, but my friends who had been here before when busy said that the service was not as poor as we experienced today. We ordered cooked breakfasts and some drinks. It look half an hour for my pint to arrive, and my friend who ordered a cup of tea still hadn’t received it by the time I left an hour and a quarter later. The food took 75 minutes to arrive, and when it finally arrived I had only 5 minutes to eat before having to go and catch a train. I consulted a member of staff about the wait time, but he was fairly unhelpful and advised me that there was no way he could check on the progress of our orders. This was very disappointing. Furthermore, when the food finally did arrive, the eggs were cold, with solid yolks, and they looked hugely unappetising (see image). Normally I love a spoons breakfast, but regrettably the service on this occasion was simply unacceptable.

Really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. Food and drink were great and prices very good. I would definitely recommend going.

Phoned twice for about 20 minutes each time to ask if dog-friendly - nobody answered phone. Took dog in and the staff were incredibly offensive - Manager ok but I criticised her/staff for not ansering phone. VERY DOG UNFRIENDLY AND CANNOT EVEN ANSWER PHONE. They should put sticker up saying dogs NOT welcome, (although I did see a non-help dog in there -JackRussell) - otherwise pretty good pub.

Typical weatherspoons on corner of Union and King St. Has a fare amount of tables so you can get a drink or a meal. Toilets were clean at least when I went there.

I liked the food but the batter of the fish was soaked in oil. Drinks are amazing. Service is extremely friendly. Overall atmosphere was okay, needed a bit of music and perhaps a play on the room lights to add to the classic historic vibe the place is already giving.

The Scottish breakfast is delicious and the portions are very generous. It’s worth a try.

Handy for popping in for some lunch. Meals are usually made quite quickly, so doesn't consume much of your time. Hate the fact the toilet is so far away but!

Very good staff and excellent coffee.... Archibald Simpson was a master architect. This wonderful masterpiece.............. now Wetherspoons....... The Archibald Simpson was a former bank. Together with Marisçhal College (University of Aberdeen)and St Andrews Cathedral in Aberdeen , these are three of the finest buildings in Aberdeen to have been preserved for future generations to use and enjoy.

Wetherspoons pub convertido de Ex Clydesdale Bank construido en 1800 por un famoso arquitecto cuyo nombre lleva. Enorme edificio de techos abovedados altos pilares de mármol y suelos de baldosas. Precioso bar. Ambiente muy frío Conversaciones silenciadas y aireadas. Muchas mesas de madera oscura no se aprietan juntas para que uno no sienta que el espacio privado está siendo invadido Según la política de cucharas, el personal del bar usa cámaras. Me dijeron que nunca hubo problemas con los clientes. Creo que atrae a una clientela más madura para que pueda ver por qué. El chico que tomó mi pedido fue un poco lento y tuvo que ser asistido en tomar mi pedido y tomar el pago, pero yo no tenía prisa. Pedí lasaña con patatas fritas y un agua tónica doble que me costó £ 10. 90 El servicio fue bastante rápido. Todo lo que había en el plato era lasaña y patatas fritas nada más. El servidor era un poco impersonal. No me dijo dónde conseguir condimentos. Tenía que preguntar. No me sentía particularmente valorado. Sólo otra orden. No creo que la moral del personal esté alta. La lasaña era una porción de buen tamaño y húmeda. Cantidad decente de sabores carnosos y quesos. La parte superior de la lasaña estaba empapada y no crujiente. Las patatas fritas eran de un buen tamaño pero un poco robustas y secas. Un plato de comida producido en masa. Creo que las cadenas de pubs han arruinado la comida. Mi mesa se limpió bastante rápido, pero me relajé un rato. Los factores negativos para mí fueron las actitudes de los camareros y la comida era bastante estándar y no respeta la calidad o el patrimonio del edificio en el que está. Es como ir al hotel Savoy por una hamburguesa McDonald's.

Ex Clydesdale Bank designed by the pub it's named after. Amazing tiled floor and ceilings with chandeliers and dark wood and marbled pillars and a huge bar Atmosphere is very old school. No music TV's on but muted airy Very chilled out. I had a lasagna and chips.The lasagna was a large portion and the chips were okay. The young man behind the bar was being mentored so I had to be patient Food came quick. I asked for a refill of tonic water but was told I had to go to the bar. Cost £10.90. Just the place to go to chill out

Wetherspoons. Some people turn their noses up but I like most of them. I mix using them with also supporting local traditional pubs and micro pubs. Opens from 08.00 am till late. You get reasonable good quality food at fairly low prices. Fast service and food available most of the time.Reasonable clean. Staff great. A fair range of Cask Beer kept in excellent quality. Usually busy with a mixture of people, drinkers, those eating and a few working remotely.

Visited from Australia. What a find! Housed in a wonderful old Bank building. Popular. Once you know that Wetherspoon represents, these establishments are everywhere. Very well priced food and drinks. Huge choices, special deals on top of the already well priced food. Welcoming. A little difficult to find the property as we were driving. A very good chain for dining/drinks/casual pub ambience.

Busy Wetherspoons pub always with a queue for service. Only had to wait 10 mins to be served but on previous visits I've been longer. There is an app but haven't used it here. Place getting a tad tired but hey, beers reasonably priced and so is the food (although it'll never win any Michelin stars☺️

The staff at the Archibald Simpson are a really great. I came with my family on the morning of 08/02/2025 at around 08:00 after a very ruff ferry ride from Orkney. The food was nice and as normal for a spoons it was cheep. Free refills of hot drinks, and only 10mins walk from the harbour made it a great place to pass some time before my train home. The bar staff, especially the lady behind the bar were really kind, chatty and helpful. The two cleaners too, where really king, helping me though doors with heavy bags and push chair. Next time I’m In Aberdeen I’ll definitely be back.

Good for a cheap drink before heading out to somewhere else

This particular building is amazing. Wetherspoon restored it very well. it has so much character specially love ceiling. The staff are a credit, polite and helpful. The food for the price is value for money and definitely hot chocolate is worth in freezing weather. The real ale is kept well. There gets plenty of people in across all age groups. Plenty of seating and nice atmosphere. Well work a visit

Brilliant place for a drink! The interior is of a stunning old design, it is absolutely worth a visit even to just go inside!! The drinks a d food options are massive and loads to choose and customise from. Cannot recommend enough this place!!

Visitando Aberdeen.(..bella città...peccato la pioggerella)abbiamo fatto sosta pranzo in questo locale. Già da fuori è imponente ma all'interno lo è anche di più.. bellissimo un po' old style bagni compresi😉. Per ordinare ti devi recare al bancone dicendo il numero del tavolo dopodiche ' un cameriere ti porta quanto ordinato al tavolo. Il menù è molto ampio ma noi,dato il poco tempo abbiamo optato per Hot Chicken e pizze con acqua e birre locali(molto buone);menù non esaltante ma discreto. Prezzo adeguato

Friday evening, and it's busy. Order on your phone? Not for us! So a bit of a wait at the bar before we order food and return to our table with drinks. Noisy, happy, great atmosphere. And when food arrived it was great! A tasty meal and a pint for £10.04? You bet!

The food is great and affordable.

The food itself is okay for the price, as it is ready-made and more affordable than the local ones around it. You have to go to the counter to order, coffee, tea and hot chocolate can be refilled freely at the machine towards the tables at the back. The ambience is very attractive and cozy.

Hermoso edificio, personal eficiente, servicio rápido pero uno de los macarrones más baratos y desagradables que he probado. Normalmente me siento seguro comiendo en Weatherspoons ya sea un desayuno vegetariano, patata al horno o curry suele saber bien y relación calidad-precio. Piense en un paquete de macarrones para reconstituir. Pequeño parche seco en el fondo de un hermoso tazón azul. Muy poca salsa de queso pegada a la pasta que sabía un poco como rodajas de queso. Dicho a mi marido parece asqueroso pero debería haberlo devuelto inmediatamente. No es culpa de los servidores, pero debe haber pensado "qué diablos". Volveré a pensar en sugerir cucharas.

Absolutamente el peor pequeño desayuno escocés de la historia, todo cremado y cocinado o ha estado bajo una lámpara de calor durante siglos antes de ser servido. El huevo era comestible pero crujiente alrededor de los bordes, la salchicha era insípida, el tocino era un trozo de crema de grasa dura, el bollo de patata demasiado cocido y duro alrededor de los bordes también. Mejor evitado para la comida, basura total y yo no habría alimentado esto a mi perro tbh

Aberdeen heeft meerdere vestigingen van JD Wetherspoon. Ik bezocht die in een voormalig bankgebouw, gecreëerd door Archibald Simpson naar wie het restaurant vernoemd is. Ik heb alleen een ingang met traptreden en weet niet of er een rolstoelvriendelijke is maar binnen is alles gelijkvloers. Zoals altijd bij Wetherspoon heb ik lekker gegeten en gedronken voor een leuke prijs.

Just a Standard Witherspoons, Good Food, Good Choice of Drinks.

Don't go here if you are a dog owner. We we sitting out on the tables on the pavement and were treated like a menace to society because we had a dog with us. There were no other customers outside but the officious duty manager took great pleasure in refusing us further service and asking us to leave the premises purely because of our dog being next to us on the pavement. Another duty manager then came to talk to us and apologised for the rules that Wetherspoons have regarding dogs and then said that one of their regular customers brings his dog and ties it to the railings opposite the seating area so he can have a pint without breaking the rules. This apparently is ok but having a paw inside the seating area gets you asked to leave. Thanks Wetherspoons for your very poor customer service on this occasion.

Busy for a Tuesday afternoon. Food typical cheap eats but for the price it's good

Went to the place as an asian and was completely ignored by the staffs, while other customers were still being served as usual. One of the serving staff (guy) was intentionally looking at our table and my friend caught his eye contact where he just chose to ignore us completely. The rest of the staffs just pretended to be busy and avoided walking to the table to take orders when the place was not even that full. Terrible staff service - at the very least. Would recommend going to a different place in Aberdeen for eating as Archibald is not the only place around
