Stayed here for 5 nights so worked through a good selection of the menus, could recommend the steak pie , lamb shank or burgers especially. Good menus reasonably priced and decent portions but menue bit small if your staying here a while

We came on a Saturday night, were not given a choice of wine my meal came to me 3 times WRONGLY, the staff barely took us on, there was a loud function on in the function suite, there were LOUD sports going on in the bar and there was shockingly bad jazz music being piped into the restaurant. I had a headache before the 3 times I was served by the waitress who really couldn't have been less bothered. We left without paying, totally disgusted... DON'T EAT THERE!! Overpriced SHOCKING food.Say NO!!!

Had a really nice meal here with a friend. It was quite quiet, but I put that down to the football world cup. Food was delicious and reasonably priced (for Aberdeen). The staff were all very friendly: the welcoming receptionist (Maria), the bubbly waitress (Cat) and the attentive chef (Anupam).

I walk past The Copthrone everyday and only just went in for an evening meal and loved it! The service was great - very attentive and polite Waiter and Waitress. The presentation and taste of the food was amazing. The menu didn't match the one on the website but there was a good variety and we both enjoyed what we ordered. There were only 2 other groups in the restaurant but the bar was quite busy. Seems a waste that for a Friday night there wasn't more people for what an excellent experience we had. Have already recommended to friends.

Went with friends for pre booked afternoon tea. The fact there was no one else around was the first warning sign, the second was that the table wasn't even laid. When we received the supposed afternoon tea, this consisted of sandwiches, the bread on the top ones was hard, obviously not been covered to keep them fresh, the pancakes and scones were stale, and the cakes consisted of fig rolls and garibaldi biscuits! We did complain and fresh pancakes were made. However, they were tasteless and very thin. We then asked about cakes and were met with blank stares. However, two plates of peanut butter cakes? appeared, which were uneatable. To be fair, the management did take our complaints on board, but it was extremely unfortunate as we had expected a pleasant afternoon, treating a guest who had come from England to a traditional high tea.I would like to mention the young waitress who was hardworking and extremely pleasant.Might I suggest a staff outing to the Parkhill Garden Centre where they will see what a proper afternoon tea consists of, fresh sandwiches, freshly baked scones, pancakes and teabread, finished off with beautiful cakes - and they also supply a box to take away what you can't eat, no danger of that today. Very very disappointed, have visited the Copthorne many times in the past, and it is sad to see it go downhill.

My wife and I recently attended a wine tasting event which was complemented by 5 course meal. The breakdown is below:1. The vichyssoise was excellent.2. The pidgin and lentil dish was full of a plump rich flavour, however was slightly undercooked for my taste....but still good.3. The Atlantic cod with a crab spring roll was brilliant. I don't usually eat crab, but the spring roll was delicious.4. The poached pear and Stilton mouse was awesome.5. For desert was a fine cheese cake that finished of a filling and tasty meal.In regards to the wine menu, it was good to see that they'd picked some good Albariño and other less known Spanish wines. As for the service, the waiters were polite and punctual; more importantly my glass was always full.

Myself and my wife dined recently on a Friday night at the West End Bar and Bistro. We live locally and thought we would give it a try after hearing some great comments from friends,We had a drink at the bar before going through to the Restaurant. The cocktails were a perfect start and the bar staff were friendly. Barry the waiter in charge of the Restaurant led us to table in the raised area. I opted for one of there daily specials to start, steamed mussels and langoustines which were amazing, and quite a generous portion but I finished everything, I then followed this with a rib eye steak which came cooked exactly as I requested my wife being a vegetarian opted for the wild mushrooms on toast and then the super food salad, which were equally enjoyed as my dinner was!We relaxed after in the bar with a coffee before our walk home. The service throughout meal was attentive, and the atmosphere, maybe not electric but was cosy, traditional and warm. We will welcome our next night off together to dine at the Copthorne restaurant.

We just had a meal in this bistro for the first time. Apart from a group of 9 people sat in one corner of the tabled area there were few other people in the bistro. The food was reasonable though the waitress was a bit pushy and seemed in a hurry for us to get our bill which was timely nevertheless. However we were disgusted to see that the other group of people were permitted to bring in a fast food take-away under the eyes of the staff who appeared oblivious to this. Our experience of public bars/restaurants is that only food purchased in the premises is permitted to be consumed there. If we'd know this was permitted we would have brought in our own picnic and purchased only drinks! Having paid handsomely for what we received (£2.95 for a small cup of tea and £4.00 for a pint along with a meal!!) we felt it was a slap in the face that people were allowed to bring in their own food along with the lingering smell of fried chicken! It was disappointing to find that the assistant manager to whom we reported the matter, had walked past the group with their carry out on a number of occasions including coming to speak to us! We certainly won't return in a hurry nor recommend this bar to anyone.

Firstly I was left to wait for friends to arrive and sat for 10 minutes with no approach by a member of staff to take my drink order. As the bar was crowded with noisy offshore guys I felt rather intimidated. When my friends arrived and eventually obtaining the services of a waiter we were told that they couldn't find our booking - my friend had phoned at the beginning of the week to make this reservation. The waiter was unconcerned at our situation and then when we went to order wine for our meal and pre-dinner drinks he pointed out that the house wine and the next three bottles of red (in price order) were not available. He was then extremely rude about our knowledge of wine - which was in this instance much greater than his - and with one look at each other we handed back the menus and left.I am not sure if the food is good as we didn't have a chance to sample it but if the lack of service is anything to go by we will be giving this hotel a big thumbs down in the future.I have had to rate this restaurant as one star - only because I don't have the option to rate it as zero

We chose to eat here primarily because of the Spree Book although ended up going for the fixed price menu as it worked out cheaper - 2 courses for £15/3 for £18.Once I fought my way though the bar and the waiting wedding guests, I reached the restaurant where the waitress didn't seem to have a note of my reservation despite phoning for one but the restaurant was virtually dead (at 7.30pm!) so there wasn’t a problem with getting a table! Despite being in before my companions, I wasn’t offered a drink until they arrived. I bypassed the starters as I didn't like any of the choices (soup/Thai fishcakes/salad) and went straight to the main course. Again there was a limited choice (Cajun chicken/salmon/vegetarian option) and I went with the chicken while my guests chose the salmon. I asked for the chicken without the salad (not asked if I wanted veg instead) and when it came it was minus the rice too although when I pointed this out to the waiter it was quickly returned and the rice added to my plate. It did taste very nice and every morsel was eaten and likewise my companions lapped up all their salmon.I was the only one having dessert (others went for starters) and the chocolate torte was very nice although it was served on a warm plate so the ice-cream melted quite quickly.Whilst the food was nice it’s a pity the service didn't come up to scratch. I don’t know if it was because there was a big wedding on that the restaurant was left short-staffed and I’d have hated to seen how long things would have taken had the restaurant filled up rather than only about one third of the tables being used although one of them did contain a large party.Nobody was coming to check if we needed drinks, we had to ask someone passing for more and likewise once the main course plates were removed we waited easy 20 mins without nobody approaching us with menu’s for dessert. We reflected the service given in the miserly tip we left as none of us felt like they’d deserved more.

Menu was quite typical of a hotel chain of this size. A bit overpriced, yet tasty enough without being spectacular. However, the service was very good indeed. The major disappointment was that this hotel advertises the fact that they have attained 2 (yes 2) rosettes for their food. BLOODY NONSENSE, At a push it justifies maybe one! Satisfactory enough if your company expense account is covering.

While staying at the nearby Skeene House Rosemount, this restaurant was suggested when we asked about trying some Aberdeen beef. My husband and I both had steaks. While they were very tasty, my ribeye was very thin, making it hard to get it at medium temperature. They listed a special outside, and on some other websites, but told us that it was only good if you stayed at the hotel, which was not clear. The meal was good but a bit pricey. However, the sticky toffee pudding was incredible. It is highly recommended.

Cold food not enough staff The staff making the coffees had to go to the till while other customers food went cold . The staff were amazing . Worked hard but too much work for them with the amount of customers there was . We did not eat or return the cold food because of the queues . I went a couple of weeks ago and same issue . I thought it may have been a one off but obviously not .
