This garden centre is no longer Dobbies but is Caulder Garden Centre. The garden centre is lovely and I note that Caulders state on their website that the coffee shop is not theirs. Our complaint is about the rude and inflexible coffee shop staff. We walked out as they seemed to do their best to make our situation awkward for us. We had a little dog and wanted to sit outside with her but they made it impossible. My friend was visiting from Sydney and was appalled at the staff behaviour and we, along with others walked out. Having been to other Caulders garden centre restaurants, is it not possible for Caulders to run the coffee shop? They do it so well. This experience would have put me off Caulders if I didn’t know better.

This garden centre has had a makeover and has been taken over by Caulders. Lots of healthy plants to tempt you which are very helpfully grouped into suitable for…. damp, shady etc conditions. The restaurant is still Le Jardin with its long standing menu with excellent choices for coffee and cake, snacks to fuller meals. That we’ve been regularly stopping off here for over 20years …. says it all about it. Staff have always been friendly and now with Covid precautions taking care to ensure it is safe for all.

Calder Garden Centre Kinross this used to be Dobbies but in my opinion has a far better selection of plants especially bedding plants 🪴. The layout of this shop is excellent and such a treat. The coffee shop is good and inviting. Scones delicious. Kinross is turning into a thriving little town and the shops and cafes are really catering very well to visitors.

Great scone, fab ( apple and kiwi ) jam and cream and a lovely cuppa. Staff were friendly and efficient. It seems a shame not to give 5 but it was a bit noisy so just a little ‘non-relaxing’. To be fair it was very busy which is a good sign but if something could be done about the acoustics it would be excellent.

We both ordered the chicken broth and ham sandwich after we asked the waitress if they used butter for the sandwiches. The meals arrived very quickly indeed having had a look within the sandwich it was obvious it was actually cheap spread rather than butter. The chicken broth wasn’t a broth at all and at least half of it was rice, no barley no split peas no lentils, so more accurately chicken and rice soup with very little chicken. It also had a rather unusual flavour to it. When the waitress checked our table I had only eaten the liquid from the bowl of rice and hadn’t touched the sandwich. My meal was removed from the bill although they did offer to make another sandwich with butter but I declined. £9.75 for a small bowl of soup and a well filled ham sandwich, £7.25 for the food £2.50 for a small glass bottle of Diet Coke, certainly a bit pricey. Very pleasant waitress though.

Excellent Food With Excellent Service! This was a second visit here for my wife and me and it was again, surprisingly good (without the inconsistency of most Dobbies restaurants). A 15-20 minute wait, due to volume of diners, but well worth it, if only to curtail spending on DIY/gardening and well managed with electronic notification of table readiness. My modest choice was a tuna & onion sandwich with salad which was anything but modest in presentation and taste - the chunky oatmeal bread was delicious and the filling had just enough of the mild onion to enhance the overall flavour - superb! The salad was nicely dressed, such that I left nothing on my plate. Unusually, I ordered chai tea flavoured with mango, since deciding to avoid caffeine and found this equally well presented and it nicely complimented my sandwich. No dessert for me, but a spoonful of my wife's cheesecake confirmed that nothing was lacking there either. Together with my wife's soup and coffee, the bill came to less than £20, including tip. Given the staffing levels and quality of food this seems acceptable. The staff were efficient, helpful, pleasant but courteous throughout and a credit to the management. We would recommend this establishment without hesitation, based on our visits.

We were travelling from Cheshire to Cupar in Fife and decided that Dobbies would make a better lunch stop than a motorway service station. In retrospect it probably wasn't very sensible to expect to get a table at 1pm on a Sunday. The was considerable predicted wait. Rather in hope than expectation I asked if they did a take away. I was shown an extensive looking menu and 10 minutes we were sitting in the car spooning soup from large coffee sized cardboard cups. Roasted red pepper and lentils in one and Stilton and broccoli in the other together with freshly made tuna sandwiches. A tuna sandwich is a deceptively difficult thing to make well. The tuna makes the bread go damp, there can be too little filling, too much or too little mayonnaise and too little seasoning. Dobbies managed to avoid all these pitfalls and make near perfect sandwiches. We were soon on our way well satisfied with our lunch even though it had to be eaten in our car

Visited on Saturday and had assumed that the Cafe would be one of the normal Dobbies. But sadly it's not.The choice was poor, the service was okay but the product provided was just awful - I honestly thought a 5 year old had baked my scone. The scone did not resemble anything that I could identify as a scone and when cutting into it - it fell apart, was soggy and doey in the middle and obviously not cooked. The clotted cream was awful and the jam was just runny. My partner had a sandwich and was so unimpressed.A total waste of time and money.Dobbies - come on - not the standard I was expecting.

Very "bitty" as if the lentils had not been cooked enough and it had just been blitzed in a blender. The sandwiches were dry - the grated cheese just fell out and the egg and cucumber mayo was tasteless. No seasoning at all. The waitress seemed overwhelmed - maybe she was new. Stopped for a cup,of tea and a cake. Quickly told to sit anywhere as the cafe was not busy. A bubbly waitress took our order of a pot of tea and a Mango Tango flavoured tea, a cake and a scone. Drinks arrived but the milk for the tea had turned. It was quickly replaced along with a second pot of tea free of charge. (Never going to be able to drink all that tea) The Mango Tango tea was fabulous. We had to go and ask if we could have our cakes as they had forgotten. The cakes were very very nice. So apart from the dodgy milk and memory, it was very nice.
