Avoid eating here. The carvery looked inviting, but nobody to serve the food. The queue to order food was so long that it took half an hour and a further half an hour to be served. The food was not what I’d ordered and stone cold. A member of staff refused to clear the table from crockery left. The service was dreadful. Lots of people were complaining. Something is very wrong there.

Awful service and overpriced food, Dobbies (Rugby) cafe should be avoided at all costs. The staff are incredibly rude and ignore customers whenever possible. Hot food is cold cold food looked completely unappetising. Irrelevant now but anybody visiting the garden centre in the next few weeks should plan to eat elsewhere. Truly awful

1 Don’t go there to eat!!! The management’s apology seemed genuine - however these problems seem to have been occurring for months!! Yesterday I had a really bad restaurant experience - I paid £17 for Christmas dinner. It didn’t arrive. I asked staff why. Eventually staff arrived with dinner and pudding. I hadn’t ordered pudding! As she placed dinner in front of me she said…. “Here you go, we haven’t got roast potatoes but we have given you pudding instead!” I asked for refund! Which I got! Never going there again! I was also presented with dirty crockery!! Don’t go there!!! Total rip off! Badly trained staff! Such a shame for Rugby!

Truly SHOCKING, utterly disgusting Xmas festive 2 course meal served up. I wouldn’t serve it up to my dog if k had one. The internal advertising board for Xmas festive 2 course lunch looked mouthwateringly yummy so did on the menu cards at the table. I was stunned at the nerve the cook sent out such shocking good. The stuffing was rock hard couldn’t snap it with my fingers. Vegetables sprouts red cabbage were so overcooked the colour drained from red cabbage annd sprouts so overcooked looked a pile of mush on plate. The roast parsnips and carrots burnt shrivelled. dried hard annd and for the roast potatoes appalling. Burnt hard shriveled up . Took one look requesting refund. I don’t blame staff delivering the meal but for the disgusting cook sending out such dreadful food the portions do tiny too. Will never eat there again. The poor waiters/waitress looked embarrassed delivering it-UNBELIEVABLE. !!!!!!!!!!! £37 refunded. My only other regret was not taking photos I was so shocked it never entered my head. Feel sorry for serving staff. Ps this review copied to google reviews do cannot be removed

Went for a Christmas two course lunch today with my mother, which quite frankly is the worst meal I've ever been served in a cafe or restaurant in my life, it was totally inedible!!! The roast parsnips and carrots were so undercooked you couldn't cut into them, the red cabbage had turned a strange washed out pink colour. The turkey had been burnt around the edges and so over cooked it was inedible and the pigs in blankets had been so burnt they were charcoal. This was all topped off by a jug of the most revolting sludgy gravy which was so salty and revolting. I took the plate's back to the counter and told them it was inedible and one of the waitress staff said to the other lady behind the counter they knew they shouldn't have served it and didn't quibble about a full refund. Maybe Dobbies need to reassess their kitchen staff because if they think serving this to the paying public is acceptable what else to they think is acceptable behind closed doors and how good is their food hygiene and safety.

Pleasant staff but food very poor Not many people can ruin a jacket potato but they can We asked for jacket potato with cheese only. It came with baked beans all over the potato. We sent them back and they came back about 10 mins later. They had scraped off the beans and sent them back to us. It still had beans left on so they had obviously tried to scrape the beans off. We sent them back again and had to wait another 15 mins to get what we ordered. It finally arrived - Luke warm. Definitely not value for money and will probably not eat there again. Needs some kind of managerial supervision

We met some friends as it was the half way distance from us both. Parking was great along with the store area but once we went out to look around the plants we were so disappointed. Many were in want of water and dying, others had been blown over and not picked up. Such a waste of lovely plants, we came away with none! The best part was the food we had in the restaurant at lunch time.

What a great disappointment had not visited for a while but the standard has dropped significantly. Plants not maintained in need of water and TLC. Staff just wandering around not standing up fallen plants. Cafe has been extended into main merchandising area, but was relatively empty even though it was lunchtime. Staff attitude needs an overview, the could not be bothered with my enquiry and you are making me do something seemed to be the attitude. I shall not be visiting again

We visited for a mooch and lunch. This used to be a great garden centre, not now! We ordered 2 cappuccinos, there was virtually no coffee in them, the queue was long so we waited until it had gone down, took the coffee back and complained, guy behind the counter would only replace one as the other had been finished (in desperation)! Ordered 2 soups with two cheese scones, it was a "no" from the server, could only give us soup with bread as per menu, why??! Took this but it was a meagre bowl half full of warm soup, soup to be fair was good if not hot enough, but portion size was not for the cost! After "lunch" walked around the garden centre. All the franchises that used to be at this garden centre gave now gone, the cafe has grown to fill the space, the shelves are half empty and the prices are sky high. A pot plant available elsewhere at around a tenner is £29.99 here. The outside area is also half empty. There are some lovely plants but again, the prices are high. We are wondering if this place is being run down to sell the land. What used to be a real treat to visit has become an unpleasant experience, we won't be going again.

Over priced (£10 for a jacket with cheese and beans and £6 for a kids sarnie box) run down, less than average quality food. Soft play smelled like old milk and half of it was taped off. Leaks from ceiling with buckets dotted around. Don't waste your time or money.

Ordered Roast Beef dinner couldn’t even cut it let alone chew it, Roast potatoes were frozen in the middle and veg/Yorkshire pudding was cold. Beef was then changed for chicken which came out covered in black grease with same cold veg. Full refund was given for uneaten meal. Will not be returning!

The little beer shed has changed hands and is now a mini bakery outlet selling some quite good bread, coffee and baked snacks. I hope that Ales and Tails mobile operation is still out and about.

Never ever go to this Costa, it is beyond appalling; it is so disgusting, I'm struggling to put into words, my experience today. My husband and I popped along with my wheelchair-bound 91-year-old mother, for a little light lunch. We arrived at around 1:30 pm on Sunday 23rd of March 2025, to find the place surprisingly quiet. Given that it was a Sunday lunchtime, I would have expected the place to be alive with families and couples. We had in fact tried to find a table at the Lutterworth Costa, but it was so full, with no sitting room, we came along to this branch, hoping they would be able to squeeze us in. There were 3 members of staff on duty (2 young ladies and a young man), and only about 6 or 7 occupied tables, including us. We ordered 3 drinks and 2 toasted sandwiches and a toasted croissant. The food came quickly enough and was pleasant. After my mother had eaten half of her sandwich, she indicated she needed to go to the lavatory, and as she is in a wheelchair, I have to help her out with these things. We got up, and as I was heading towards the lavatories, the young man on duty, jumped ahead of us and said sheepishly, "I just need to check if they are clean". As it was so quiet, and there were 3 members of staff on duty, I was a bit surprised that this needed checking on first, but I just assumed he was being super-diligent. He turned back to us looking embarrassed, and I said "is it dirty?", to which he responded "yes" and then "lucky me". He walked to a nearby cupboard, collected a dustpan and brush, went ahead of us again, spent literally 10 seconds sweeping something from the floor, and then moved back to allow us to access. I pushed my mother's wheelchair in to, what can only be described as, the most disgusting public lavatory I've seen, in my 60 years of living. It sounds like it must be exaggerating doesn't it (so dramatic!) - but not only were the scraps of paper all over the floor, so much worse than that, there was urine everywhere. I don't just mean a little drop or two on the seat where somebody had not been careful, I mean the floor was literally swimming in urine, the toilet seat was covered in urine, the lavatory bowl had urine in it with no toilet paper, it was quite literally, like somebody had embarked on a highly successful 'dirty protest'. Now, as if this was not enough, the fact that this young man had seen the appalling mess, he clearly must've known what it was like, which is why he jumped ahead of me to "check", but then to think that it was acceptable for me to not only to walk into that disgusting room, but allow my 91-year-old disabled mother to sit on a toilet seat covered in urine, almost left me speechless with outrage. How dare you treat your paying customers with such disrespect, moreover, how dare you treat any other human being with such disrespect? It is unforgivable. There is no world in which I would allow anybody to be subjected to such a monstrous, nauseating experience, and the management at this specific Costa, should be either, immediately dismissed, or sent away on a course, to teach them the fundamental rights of human beings, and particularly how that relates in a hospitality setting. Surely, it is simple? Would you sit on a toilet covered in urine, while your feet sat in puddles of urine? Would you allow your 91-year-old disabled mother, or grandmother, to sit her behind on a urine covered toilet seat, while the wheels of her wheelchair wallowed in urine? You were not busy. When you opened up that morning, either, nobody bothered to look at the lavatories (not acceptable), or worse, looked at the lavatories, and could not be bothered to do anything about them (disgraceful). I would like to be charitable and think you just hadn't been aware of it, but you absolutely had, and had CHOSEN not to remedy this... otherwise, why did the young man jump in front of me, to ostensibly "check" the lavatories? We could not even use an alternative lavatory, because the only other available facilities had a huge hole in the door, and you could see right through to the toilet itself; making it "out of use". How can you think this is acceptable? I will be telling everybody I know, to avoid this abysmal excuse for a Costa, like the plague - lest they literally, catch some ungodly disease. Not only that, but why should ANYBODY come to visit you, when you, clearly, care nothing for your customers comfort, dignity and well-being? I don't imagine anything will be done about this, because your management cares nothing for the appalling experiences you subject your customers to; looking through your reviews, the disgusting state of your lavatories has been mentioned more than once, so you clearly read our comments and cheerfully ignore them; nobody takes it seriously, nobody remedies it, and there is nobody in 'management' who understands or cares one iota, about your guests' comfort. So I say again, why would anybody visit you, when there are so many other Costas, that do a great job? Rugby has a few Costas if I recall correctly, doesn't it? This place should be closed down, and the staff should find jobs elsewhere, not in hospitality! This is not a complex subject, even in the grottiest motorway service station, there's a piece of A4 paper stuck to the wall with times and 'checked' signatures... this is not beyond the wit of anybody with an IQ >50, so why can't you do this, bare minimum? I will not leave it here, I will contact your CEO and upper management, somebody needs to address this, otherwise you will absolutely have close, because customers are simply not going accept these abysmal standards, ad infinitum. Shame on you all, what an utterly disgraceful job you're doing. Next time you go and see a loved one, particularly a frail, elderly one, ask yourself if you would be perfectly happy for them to have to sit in somebody else's urine.
