D'nisi Shawlands in Glasgow City

Visited here first time since was recommended to try their hot chocolate. Although the drink itself was nice enough the rest of our experience was not. Hot chocolate came and I had been asked when I ordered it if I wanted marshmallows to which I said no. No offer of cream, so when drink came it was just the simple plain chocolate, with the chocolate stick, which was fine. My husband and I ordered two veggie breakfast and after waiting 15-20 minutes the waitress brought the food which to our dissappointment was the non vegetarian breakfast, complete with bacon and black pudding. Waitress looked more annoyed than we were and she said she must have heard the order wrong. She said it would be another 10 minute wait for the veggie breakfast. When the food came it was OK, nothing special. No salt n pepper on eggs and none on table for us to add if required. I was eating it fine, until I found a blonde strand of hair in the beans. We just left at that point, couldn't bring myself to even complain to the staff, who were rushed off their feet. Won't be coming here again. The cost of £36 definitely not worth the food or service offered here. As I was leaving saw how dirty the floor was between the seats and window.

This venue is pleasant and clean and the service is excellent but the prices are far too expensive, the markup on coffee allows for competitive pricing and it should not cost this much for two coffees.

Great Coffee. Nice servers. But. Don’t understand why at 3.40 they might not bring them to your table instead of shouting “Table 2” or whatever. The temperature was cold so why have door wedged open? But nice people. Would return.

Just really poor. Ordered a flat white and poached eggs with avocado. The barista seemed confused (likely straight out of school with no training), the coffee was cold and weak and the supposed poached eggs were clearly some sort of prepackaged product and completely boiled through. It is a shame when such independent chains just aren’t any good.

I went to Dnisi with my girlfriend last week and I have to say I was unimpressed. I ordered an egg mayo sandwich and she ordered a chicken mayo sandwich. Both of which came with bread that tasted stale and rather warm filling. Worrying with chicken. She also ordered the soup (I think was brocolli and cheese) but had no desire to finish it because it was not very pleasant. The service was also rather slow and the staff seemed to have sour expressions on their faces as if they didn't want to be there. I will not be back.

Popped in recently- ordered broccoli soup. Sadly when it arrived it looked like a bowl of green hot water with zero substance. On returning it I was informed that ‘that’s the way we make soup’. Most commendable! Will never return.

We waited half an hour for breakfast, when we got it the poached eggs were hard boiled, the bacon was rubbery, and the muffin was not toasted. Apparently everything is cooked to order but I find that hard to believe. It was also absolutely freezing inside, the door was lying open and people were sitting with their coats on. It’s lovely looking inside however with plenty of tables and comfortable booths. We wouldn’t return, there is better competition in Shawlands now.

Ordered a take-away bean wrap with avocado and coffee. Had to wait 15 minutes in store. The wrap was tasteless, very small and very expensive (£6 without any sides; was informed that they normally offer wedges for sitting in, but there was no cut in price). The take-away coffee cups are also of unacceptable quality. I've ordered three times and they always drip within seconds. Will not be ordering again anytime soon, I'm afraid.

We visited Dnisi recently and thought the atmosphere was lovely, the cafe is presented well and the staff were courteous and helpful. We ordered some coffee which was lovely and I was very happy they offered non dairy options and not just soya. The menu had a lot of choice and offered something different to the norm. Unfortunately I was really disappointed with my breakfast. I ordered the french toast and bacon. I’m not sure how it was cooked but the french toast was solid and not enjoyable at all, I could barely cut it. It should be crispy on the outside and still nice and soft on the inside. It was completely dried out. However, we had a scone and that was delicious.

We recently picked up a takeaway wrap and club panini. Honestly how can a place provide such poor service, value and quality these days. The wraps were a TOTAL RIP OFF. It was over £13 for a tiny chicken wrap and tiny panini club. What’s more there were served with no napkins or accompanying items you would expect for the money. Will never go back!!

Not been here before but i was with a couploe who had, and told me the chai latte was nice, so we ordered 3. Waited ages for them, it was a takeaway order, staff were pleasant enough. But the chai itself was literally warm milk with no flavour, and tbh not even that warm. I probably wont go back.

Perfect spot for catching up with friends when not corona times. Recently they started doing afternoon teas which are just lush. Their scones are the best ! Cute packaging too !

I'm a regular in D'nisi and it's one of my favourite places to grab a coffee or light lunch. The scones are varied and delish....but be early as they go quickly. Staff are friendly. I just love like the ambiance. I meet regularly with friends for a catch up but also feel very comfortable popping in and eating on my own.

Great grub, great vibe. What more could you want. Our French son in law who is a chef in a prestigious Paris eaterie loved it ! We most certainly continue to visit. The only downside is you cannot book , so a table cannot be guaranteed at busy times.

Sin embargo, mi amigo me vio luchar para cortar mis salchichas vegetarianas que eran tan duras como ladrillos y estuvo de acuerdo en que los bollos de pototo eran tan duros como botas viejas, así que llamamos a la camarera y yo demostré tratando de cortar una salchicha, luego mi amigo agregó que la papa los bollos también eran duros. Me sirvieron dos salchichas vegetarianas más, pero no me sirvieron bollos de patatas frescas. Mi amigo recibió otra ración de bollos de papa. . .Pedí un café con leche, pero sabía más a leche aguada caliente con un toque de café. En ese momento se estaba tostando un nuevo lote de café. Quizás el personal había tratado de sacar los últimos granos de café para hacer el mío mientras se tuestaba un nuevo lote de granos de café. No me quejé de mi café porque había perdido el apetito y no sentí que la mesera se mostrara comprensiva cuando nos quejamos de nuestra comida.No disfrutamos nuestro desayuno y nadie se molestó en venir y preguntar si estábamos disfrutando de nuestra comida después del mal comienzo. Esta es una mala forma de tratar a los clientes. Entiendo que hay una crisis y es posible que el personal tenga que trabajar más rápido para limpiar un número limitado de mesas, pero solo toma unos segundos pasar y verificar que el siguiente lote de comida esté bien.Creo que los elementos del desayuno se prepararon con anticipación y se mantuvieron calientes con un calentador de alimentos comercial. Mi primera vez aquí y qué hermosa tarde tuve, ambiente relajado y es bueno ver un lugar que siga las reglas de distanciamiento social y las buenas prácticas de higiene. Disfrutamos de una buena taza de café invitado y un sabroso panini con batatas fritas. La jefa de turno fue muy amable (no recuerdo su nombre), pero definitivamente regresará un servicio increíble.

The coffee was tasteless,and the scones were not fresh.We are regulars to DNISI but this is the worst coffee and scones we have ever been served.

La chapata del club de pollo y tocino es increíble, ¡muy recomendable!Visité nuevamente hoy para un almuerzo para llevar y quedé muy impresionado con las nuevas medidas que han implementado desde que reabrieron después del cierre. Definitivamente volveremos.

A happy welcoming coffee shop with friend and proficient staff. What a huge difference to the last time I visited.

Nice inside, decent menu. Could be amazing- sort the service (don’t mind going to counter but customers can then see how poorly organised it is, then at least bring to table) and cleanliness could be much better- everything rather grubby.

Para ser honesto, hágalo simple y adhiérase al café, panini y pasteles de calidad. Conseguí un gran chocolate caliente belga con crema y, lamentablemente, fue asqueroso. Acuosa, cara y sin sabor. Went for lunch had a coronation chicken sandwich which was lovely a bit overpriced staff attentive and friendly.

Full breakfast with my friend. Please do not misunderstand me. The breakfast was so dry. Tattie Scones dry. Scrambled eggs dry. Bacon dry etc.. I ate it all yes, but dry. And for that reason I would not go back.

Went in to sit and have something to eat three people looked at us the looked away no one approached us I then went to counter to still wait then decided to leave to be shouted attitude sarcastically bye then He’s lucky he never got trailed over the counter I take it was the manager needs customer care training in fact needs the sack !! God knows who he thinks he is Avoid !

Overpriced for what you get. Coffee wasn't great either. The layout was awful, the till area was hidden behind everything so I wasn't even sure where to order from.

Habiendo visitado esta maravillosa cafetería por segunda vez esta semana, ya se ha convertido en mi nuevo lugar favorito para disfrutar de un delicioso café en un entorno encantador y relajante. Dnisi tiene un menú maravilloso con una variada selección de comida deliciosa y todo a precios muy razonables. Tomé un café y posiblemente el mejor bollo que he probado en mi vida! ! Mi marido tenía un desayuno de tostadas y jarabe francés que parecía y sabía increíble. Como un poco de "snob de café" honestamente puedo decir que el café que se sirve aquí es difícil de superar. Una hermosa variedad de pasteles horneados y esos bollos increíbles (pera y canela) son mis favoritos personales. Las cuñas de papa con chile (porción grande) son una necesidad! ! Un lugar encantador con un personal cálido y acogedor hacen de este un lugar muy especial. Primera clase en todos los sentidos ??????

I like Dnsi as i can sit outside with my dog the home baking and cakes are all very nice also the toilets are very clean and the staff are so friendly as well

A relaxed place for a coffee and breakfast right there in Shawlands on the Southside of Glasgow, been a few times now over the last year... The house breakfast is good and the coffee very nice, and although we've not yet chosen cakes/pastries they certainly looked tempting. I found the staff to be really relaxed on the surface whilst clearly working at pace. Quite a few new cafes in the area which seems to be on the up- but I'd recommend this place.

Such slow service due to understaffing. As you wait in line many couples come in, one of the pair grab a seat and so leaving you seatless after waiting about 7 minutes in line.

Mi única crítica constructiva es que me gustaría que usaran vasos en lugar de vasos de plástico para el agua.

Ok coffee, at times service is slow and verging on rude. Scones are hit and miss and the paninis etc don't look appetizing at all. Not somewhere I would go for a relaxed coffee or lunch - definitely one for taking away or very quick sit down. Too many tables crammed in small space so it can feel very claustrophobic.

We had a wonderful cappuccino and latte earlier today. Moreover, the house provides a wide range of scones with unusual flavors and nice cakes. We recommend this place highly, as one of the very best coffee houses in the city, and we will be returning here as often as possible.

Called in here with friends for coffee. The coffee was very good and there was a good choice of herbal and fruit teas for my friend too. Very busy afternoon and the tables were a little chaotic because of that - a fair bit of shuffling round to let people past.

I moved to the area last year, my husband and I don't often go out in the area so we decided to go for coffee last Saturday - I chose Dnisi.

Dnsisi es fabuloso! Desde sus bollos legendario, mi favorito es el queso y chile y su desayuno vegetariano, la comida es buena. Luego está el café, suaves y perfectamente asada. Se puede apreciar el lote pequeño tostar que hacen. El ambiente de Dnsis también es apacible y relajado con un personal maravillosamente amable. Si están en el punto de Shawlands parando.

Buscando Shawlands en té y café. Como independiente, recibí una recomendación de mi dentista (basado en Shawlands) de este establecimiento hospitalario. Una selección de cabinas y mesas significa que siempre hay un lugar para sentarse. Si necesitas un café o té en Shawlands, este es el lugar para ir.

Coffee alright but you need a second mortgage to go here. Scones just crumble into pieces when you try and slice them open.

First time into the shop the other day and I’m glad as I will be back. The guy who served me, I think his name may have been Alex or definitely began with an A, was very courteous and coffee was just the way I like it. Very young staff, but all seem well-trained and confident with what they do. :-)

I have walked past here every day for the last year and because i had the dog never went in, (but did think it looked very inviting) this afternoon after our walk i really wanted a coffee. I opted for a flat white as i like a strong coffee and some places don’t do them that strong. I ordered it to go and 2 cranachan scones as well for later.

I went here for breakfast today. We ordered drinks at the counter: my friend asked for a latte and I asked for an iced latte. To my shock, after hearing my order the waitress (with the buzz cut hair) muttered “f**** sake” under her breath before proceeding to making the drinks. I couldn’t believe my ears.

This is a favourite haunt for coffee on our regular visits to the Shawlands area. Coffee is good and is always strong and hot . Good selection of pastries and bacon rolls were fresh and well filled. Seating is also comfortable and staff obliging.

Staff are so kind, food and selection of cakes are great! My husband has options for his dairy allergy too. Buggy friendly with good changing facilities for my baby. I always look forward to the next visit.

Without a doubt simply the best scones ever tasted -they are v large but delicious and of course dog friendly with a waterbowl kept topped up - but seriously did I mention the scones?

I stay nearby and this is the cafe that I use most frequently in Shawlands. Very friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. I like popping in here to do a bit of work or to read my book with a coffee.

Yo tengo la suerte de trabajar al lado de D'conoció una demanda así llegar a entrar varias veces a la semana y siempre estoy impactado por lo agradable y servicial, el personal de tratar con cochecitos a despiezar bollos para una señora que considera que es complicado. Siempre ir más allá de lo que uno esperaría. Gracias por un gran servicio.

Enter a "pretending to be friendly" environment, purchase 2 cake and 2 coffee for stunning 10,15 £, which I don't mind paying if the quality is good.

We went into this eaterie today at 4pm and when I went to place my order for a toastie and panini sandwich I was confronted with "we close at 5"

We have visited here a few times but on our last visit we actually gave up and left. Very, very noisy and very slow service. Everyone seemed to be trying to out shout each other. We ordered coffees before our food order but decided to leave after 30 minutes of rabble and after over-hearing complaints from another table. Won't be back.

We just made the breakfast cut off of 11.30am... well, a few mins over, but the chef was in a good mood so managed to get pancakes with bacon and maple syrup and a standard breakfast. I'm not a fan of scrambled eggs and this, as per menu, is the only option. I think it might be made by powdered egg. Staff on duty friendly enough, but lacking that extra touch with makes for a stand out experience. One visit was enough.

Attended here on a Sunday lunchtime looking for a quick spot of lunch. The place is warm with appealing decor and was nearly full. Ordered a selection of paninis and toasties with white hot chocolates. The food arrived quickly but was freshly prepared and hot. They were all lovely and had a side serving of nachos and salsa. The price was very reasonable and affordable. Will definitely be back.

D'nisi is a nice place to sit and enjoy your coffee or lunch. Comfortable,warm and good prices. Only reservation I have is their lack of choice for Gluten Free customers.Met a friend recently and she was disappointed there was not a lot to choose from.It may have improved as this happened a few weeks ago but I feel places have to cater for everyones needs

For a quick snack its perfect. Staff is friendly and cafe has a warm and cosy feel.However, the menu is limited and basic. Could do more hot food.

Great place to chill with coffee and cake. They do a nice hit chocolate where u get a block of chocolate on a stick that u melt in the hot milk yourself...

Was looking for a convenient place to meet up with friends. This place came recommended by one of them. Really good location in Shawlands. There's a good choice to choose from - we all went for the arctic flatbread which came with coleslaw and a small side salad. We all had picked one of the three fillings and agreed they were delicious and hit the spot.They have a good selection of desserts too. The girls had muffin and a scone and jam whist I couldn't resist the strawberry cheese. The girls loved their desserts and my cheese cake was perfect.My only complaint was the waitress kept coming and picking up plates and cutlery whist one of us eating - I find that incredibly rude. There was no apparent reason to do this.Other than that - good location, exiting menu and tasty food .

I work in another coffee house in shawlands and you would think I would be anywhere else than here but this place is a good spot to relax enjoy a coffee and a snack the staff seem friendly enough and have a very good selection on display would recommend to all friends and family a visit

Sitting having a wee tea and a scone with my daughter who had a lovely panini with Tuna and cheese both were delicious, the one of the very few places in shawlands that I can get into with a wheelchair which is a great thing as I don't always want to have to sit outside. Would definitely be back and also recommend to family and friends for a wee bit of lunch or coffee time.

I love going to d'nisis, the staff are so friendly and the food is always fresh. Try to go most weekends to try one of their unique scones, coconut scone is my favourite so far.

First time here. Staff pleasant food average had spiced chicken panini no garnish on plate - a bit insipid but tasty enough. Strawberry cheesecake was delicious! Nice surroundings but a tad cramped.

Great wholesome food freshly made/cooked... service with a smile... nothing to much bother.... great soups and sandwiches ..... fantastic scones.... fantastic prices... If in Shawlands you MUST give this a try....

today 4/4/2016 first time my wife and I tried dnisi we went for a cappichino and a tea and were greeted by delightful staff who served us within 30 seconds we both had homemade scones which were amazing the café is not that big but it has table and chairs out side also the price of the food is quite good there are plenty of buses go along through shawlands towards the city centre it is a great shopping area so you could spend a hole day there with lunch at dnisi when you go in the café has a ramp at the front of the door so it is wheelchair frendly

Small and a few too many tables mean it's cramped and difficult to find a table that can accommodate the high chair, which itself is a little oversized. The saving grace is always the fantastic array of homemade cakes.Food and drink quality is great, as is the service. Take some time to find D'nisi in your life and you won't be disappointed.

I live nearby and have visited this cafe a few times. They have a good menu and I've enjoyed everything I've had here. I'd recommend it for a coffee or lunch stop.

Been in on a few occasions and although the food has never disappointed although I have found it quite expensive. Visited with my mum & young niece for lunch and it was almost £30 for sandwiches and coffee. Scones and try bakes are lovely though

Great venue to visit, any time of day. Staff are great and always remember you, loads of choice and specials. The soup is always delicious, the cakes are brilliant!Highly recommended.

Another fantastic lunch in D'nisi today. Go far too regularly but can't resist the royal scones! Soups always good, wedges fab and the best coffee in Scotland. The atmosphere is very relaxed with great service. The staff are always extremely friendly, polite and efficient. It is a joy to spend time in D'nisi in my lunch hour.

My local Costa coffee closed on August 8th. This forced me to seek my Saturday morning fix further down Kilmarnock Road at this wee coffee shop. On entry you will find it awash with reasonably priced, freshly made home baking and the usual variety of coffee options. Friendly and helpful staff too. I had a fruit scone and a cappucino as I read the Saturday Times. Could be my new chill zone! (Not massively keen on the number system tho!!!).

Use this branch of D'Nisi regularly, as a nearby trader, and always get a great cup of coffee served by friendly, helpful staff. Lovely scones and soup too!!

not great, menu looks great, portion sizes pretty poor n food quite tasteless. have visited this place a few times now because friends keep recommending it and every time (3 so far never left a review until now) its; not been great, had breakfast over priced, over cooked and tasteless, lunch soup nice over priced, dinner was tasteless, small portions and way overpriced. I have also visited their sister place in kirky ,it was full of over the top mothers with children in prams/buggies n very little room to move and breakfast was once again tasteless.

Gostei bastante do ambiente. A comida é deliciosa. Adorei os pequenos sanduíches, e eles tem muitos sabores. Ótimo atendimento.

It`s smart, clean and right in the heart of Shawlands. Great coffee and a wide range of snacks and sandwiches - if they don`t have it, they`ll make one up for you! Good value overall too. Well worth a visit.

Lovely atmosphere. Tasty food, nicely presented.The food is reasonably priced for the quality.They appear to specialise in Crayfish (and having had one of their sandwiches, they are gorgeous). Home made soup was a winner for my dad, and their panini's won over mum.

Since dnisis opened in SHAWLANDS, I have grown to love it more and more! Love it! Had a delish flatbread today with chicken salad. Love the staff, love the place!

Doing a bit of shopping in Shawlands today (29/11) so we thought we would come in for a short break. Good move. Coffee, tea, scone, cake. All excellent. Best cappuccino I've had in a long time. Staff very friendly. A really relaxing break. Highly recommended.

I have been a regular at this coffee shop for years. I never go anywhere else in Shawlands. I have checked out the competition and found D'nisi can't be beaten on service and food. There coffee is the best I have ever had. The staff are friendly and professional. They always have time for customers.The manager Morag is friendly, helpful and the shop is a credit to her and the other staff.There is always a warm welcome at Dnisi . I won't be going anywhere else.

Been here twice now before watching football at newlandsfield, the food & cakes are delicious and fresh. The coffee is lovely and also have a great variety of specialities. The service is welcoming only drawback this time was staff at till chewing him whilst taking order was a bit off putting, but don't let this put you off. The cafe is extremely clean including toilets. Everything tastes extremely fresh and we have been at lunch time and evening. First time we were served by two male members if staff got to say well done, pleasant and attentive. We will return again

From the moment I walked in to the moment I left I felt welcome and staff were very attentive. Food was lovely and despite the shop being busy the service was fast. Staff came to check everything was okay and the atmosphere was so nice we even stayed for cake! From the manager to the trainee you could not have asked for better service. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will definitely be back.

I love coming to D'Nisi, the pancakes and bacon for breakfast are the best I've had in the south side!The menu has something for everyone from baked potatoes to salads and my favourite, nachos with chilli on top.They've had a bit of a refurbishment lately and the cafe looks really trendy. The staff are always so friendly and always give you a warm welcome and a wave goodbye too. The coffee is still the best in the south side and I love the quirky latte art that some of the baristas are doing, I think the girls name was Faye?I'll definitely keep coming here. 

I used to be a regular visitor to this coffee shop but have given up as the service is so slow. It was not unusual to have to wait for 3 or 4 minutes to place an order - and there was no-one else in the queue!! The staff are terribly short staffed at times so taking orders, preparing food and serving are done in strict rotation. If you want to place an order - you just have to wait your turn!

My husband and I had a 2 coffees, a crayfish salad and a goats cheese salad - they were very pricey for the poor quality of food we received. We had originally ordered other items from the menu but were told they had run out of them. The salads were VERY basic (essentially goats cheese put on iceberg lettuce with a measly sprinkling of red onion and the odd pine nut) yet took ages to come. I would not recommend eating here - the cakes at the counter looked decent so it may be ok for a simple coffee and a cake, but we won't be coming back to check.

We popped in here for a quick breakfast when passing recently and were really impressed. I ordered the pancakes, and to be honest, for only £2.99 I wasn't expecting much, but what we got were 2 thick, fluffy, freshly made pancakes with maple syrup that were as good as any I've had in much more expensive restaurants in town.Highly recommended.

I live in Shawlands and come here regularly. It has great variety of different foods, cakes, coffee, tea, cold drinks, u name it. It's fantastic and service and people that work there r great and friendly. Definately recommend this place. I will continue to come here.

I live a few doors down from D'nisi and it has become my favourite place in Shawlands. Reasonably priced and good coffee, but the best thing about D'nisi has to be the staff. They are all so friendly and welcoming and have taken the effort to learn the regular customers names and orders. Morag and Keith are excellent members of staff but they are all great. Really gives D'nisi the edge over other coffee shops in the area.Debbie

Lunch. One crayfish salad and one crayfish bruschetta. The salad should have come with sweet chilli sauce but had Marie rose. Too vinegary. The bruschetta was a bit meagre. Three wee bits alone on the plate. Needed a little side salad to make it a dish. It was thankfully quite tasty. Cold drinks needed ice to chill them. Should find a space in a fridge. It was a hot day. Cakes were fine but unremarkable. Coffee and tea as well. All came to £25. It was alright, but it's been better. Very busy and clearly not enough staff on, given the wait and the time it took for tables to be cleared.

I was in Shawlands for business meeting early as usual, so needed a nice coffee and a cake, I had been here years ago and please to see its stood the test of time, the soups was great last time real home made.This time we have a really nice coffee and a very tasty cake good service and its open till 9 pm which is good to.Andy's top tip you can park across the rod for free for an hour if you just want a quick in and out or even a carry out.

D'nisi in Shawlands is one of the best coffee shops in the area, both for price and for staff friendliness and helpfulness. It really has a relaxing atmosphere around it and is the kind of place you could go and sit in for a few hours and just feel relaxed and satisfied! Their coffees are very reasonably priced and very tasty. Cakes and food options are varied and try to suit everyone. The staff are some of the nicest I've came across and I would truly recommend D'nisi to everyone. i've been in with my friends, my family, for work related meet ups and everyone has said they enjoyed it and I have never heard any complaints. Also, during the summer or on hot days there is a seated area to the side of the shop which just adds to the restaurant :)
