District in Belfast

Called in here today for food, was told by 2 servers that they would be with us shortly so we waited, and waited. A third server who was too busy drawing on a napkin to take our order then served a person who walked in after us while we still stood there in front of her. The most gobsmacking service I have ever experienced.

This cafe has a wide selection of different drinks and traybakes to choose from as well as savory foods. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, and the overall atmosphere is cozy and aesthetic. It is also dog friendly and provides water bowls for them. The only downside to this establishment is that there is a wait during lunch (1 -1:30) as that's the time it's packed. Overall it's a great little cafe with excellent staff, would definitely come again.

A group of 4 of us visited and were left very disappointed by the quality and quantity of the food and service we received. The fritter "stack" consisted of 4 bitesize fritters. I asked a member of staff where the rest of the meal was and he replied that he'd check but he never bothered. The bagel was so hard I thought I was going to smash the plate trying to cut it. District used to be good years ago but I really regret going back because it's went downhill, there are a lot better places for brunch in Belfast, avoid District.

Dreadful place been here twice should have known from my first experience when I was served up pan bread under the guise of brioche. Ordered at till and waited and waited and waited in the freezing environment with the door wide open until everyone who had come in after me and had been served their food. I brought it to the servers attention and within 5 minute the lukewarm microwaved breakfast bap was on the table with his explanation “there was no docket for it” no apology like this was my problem not the 3 servers who stood behind the counter chatting the entire time maybe one of them should have send the docket into the kitchen surly this is their job instead of chatting. My advice would be to keep on walking past and don’t stop until you come to the General Merchant because it’s definitely worth the wait not this disappointing establishment.

On our daily walk my husband and I walk past District coffee shop in the Ormeau Road. As I was on annual leave today we decided we would do brunch to test the coffee shop. When I ordered I was told it would be around 15 minutes before our order would be ready. After 40 minutes my husband went to enquire about our order. 19 minutes later it arrived; 40 minutes after placing the order. We will not be back.

£6.90 for a sausage roll and a coffee AND 30 mins wait to get it. Size and quality of sausage roll gone down hill too. The phrase ‘killing the golden goose’ comes to mind!

Nice, modern cafe/restaurant. Brunch was very good and staff friendly. Outdoor heaters for the winter months would be a boost and attract more customers. Better than Caffe Nero and other coffee houses.

Visited in December 2020. Food is fine, though a bit pricey. In the current circumstances I’m surprised at how crowded the seating is indoors. People huddled close together with little space between tables. We sat outside. That was ok however I’d have thought that after 10 months of the pandemic that they could have invested in some heating for the outside space. I know there’s been a grant available for businesses to avail of for this.

Queued for approx 20 mins to order food..got to the counter to place order and was told ....we cannot take food order as too many waiting!!! Why not announce that to people standing in the queue.. why wait until someone has spent 20+minutes in the cold waiting.. Never go back ever! I was a regular visitor but never again !!!

Great food at great prices. Served with a smile. Good range for dietary requirements. Did a bulk takeaway order to facilitate our production. Even helped me out to the car with the order.

I visited here with a friend last week and was happy to find seats both inside and outside clean and well spaced apart. The menu was delicious, we ordered a breakfast and some drinks, all which came quickly and tasted very fresh. I was nervous to be out in a cafe with all the Covid stuff...but the layout and cleanliness really put me at ease. The staff were friendly and really did their best.

Called in for brunch during the week with my family and firstly there wasn't enough sanitisers. Tables were dirty and we had to ask for ours to be cleaned. Ordered food and coffees arrived followed by custard tarts and then 15 mins later my families food arrived. (I'd ordered a sausage roll) It too almost an hour and two reminders for the sausage roll to arrive and it was like a spicy potato limp with microwaved pastry. It's not a cheap place and the food was really poor. The place had seating outside but the door opened in the way and almost everytime a member of staff had their hands full they had to ask a customer to open the door for them? And especially with Covid, do you really want to be handling the door every time a waiter asks? I don't like using Trip Advisor to complain about some place and I wrote to the company privately first and they haven't replied. To be honest I'm not surprised they didn't if this is the standard of management. Highly recommend that you avoid this place.

Have been here a number of times now and have loved my experience each time. Always met with a friendly smile from staff, the shop itself looks amazing. Menu concise which means the quality of each option (or at least everything I’ve tried) is so high. Special mention to the “brunch bagel” - bagel with bacon, sausages and poached eggs. The mango and chilli dip on the side is outstanding. As good as the food is, I always have a coffee with it and it’s so good I get one to go at the end as well. Have to say, all round brilliant place to eat or drink coffee. Couldn’t recommend more.
