Nice place with good danceable music

This old historic building has been sympathetically turned into a nice trendy bar. The main bar is very large with a high vaulted ceiling. There are some smaller rooms off the main bar. The staff were very friendly. There is a good selection of beers, lagers, and cider. They do a very good range of reasonably priced cocktails. Sadly, no cask conditioned real ale. It's a nice bar with a good atmosphere.

Always busy and lively on a Saturday night, good mix of music too

I was there in Xmas party with friends and with one of them order beer at the counter. Despite of it the bartender brought some coctails which we did not order. We refuse to pay for things which we did not order but been told we are banned from service. It’s ridiculous cause it’s never happen to me in other places. If I have ordered the beer I was getting the beer. We tried to spoke with person in charge and explain the whole situation but she was not keen to listen. Mistakes can happen if there is loud music but the behaviour of those people should not repeat. We were lucky to be there with other friends, so we could ask them to order drinks but if not we needed to change to place because of that situation. Highly not recommended place. Rude staff at the counter. I was polite and tried to solve the situations but there was not even a bit of chance with that lady. She said “ I do not care” ok if you do not care about the people who pays your bills that’s fine with me. I will never visit that place again.

I didn't eat, but the staff and beer was fantastic.

Great bar, great staff, great drinks. Good selection of pints, spirits, and bottles. The brunch events are great with live performers and deals on drinks, and you can get a food platter to go with. Music and atmosphere is great. They have pool tables and beer pong to entertain yourself with, too. Old Town staple. No longer a restaurant, just a bar.

If you love booming music this is a place for you

It was Sesh night and packed and buzzing! Not been in on a Friday or Saturday for a while!

Dead. Walked in nobody was in there I thought it was closed drinks were cheap service was good.

Absolutely no one in on a bank holiday, got the most shocking pint of Moretti Ever,, left real quick about 25quid lighter 😭

Used to be in this place pretty much every week sometimes more than once because of their amazing food menu. Since Covid they’ve not bothered and don’t seem to be planning on bringing their menu back. Just an average bar what a shame

We came to meet friends but couldn't stay as it was so loud, music on the tv's and some guys went upstairs to play pool and loud different music was on up there, we left our drinks and walked out. Would never ever go back in there.

Came for drinks on a Saturday night around 7:30pm and the service was terrible considering we were quite a large party looking to spend a good amount on cocktails etc! Lots of bar staff stood chatting amongst themselves, didn't seem at all interested in doing their jobs. No atmosphere. Would not return or recommend to friends.

The place smelt of blocked drains

Really brings down the image of Hull just from its name. Bouncers are really nice here but inside lacks the finesse of the surrounding bars and pubs.

Awful full of underage kids who think they are somthing .... and old dudes who think they are somthing else ... then you got the muscle men posers who think they are somthing better ... not my cup of tea haha!!

Been a while since I've visited, decided to pop in. I like the look of how the place is. We literally sat down, and were asked if we wanted drinks. Then decided on burgers, chips. The food arrived, burger was moist, and actually quite nice, chips were fine. Anyway, looking at the menu, a few things I wouldn't mind trying. So, next time I'm on a day out. This may be a choice. A nice bar, nice food

It was a very standard bar, the floor felt like glue, we ordered a drink and were given an alcohol free drink we didn't complain as we drank it before we realized we definitely wouldn't go again...

Cocktails are amazing! Service was excellent, the server was wearing glasses, he made me and my friend's feel really welcome and we had a really lovely evening all down to the great service we received thank you.

Cocktails and food where nice, bit overpriced and the menu was lacking variety

This place has always been a ‘go too’ for me, one of my fave places. But not so much anymore. I went with a few of my friends and we were surprised to find out that the menu had completed changed. This menu is now small, expensive and when we got it, not very good quality. The chips were burnt and my burger tasted like it was full of garlic. Drinks took over 30 minutes to come, they got our food order mixed up with someone else’s and some drink orders were wrong. My friend had a pornstar martini that was in a cracked glass and everything seemed to be so much more expensive. The only saving grace to our experience was our server, Kyle. He was one of the most helpful, polite and friendly people I have ever come across in a customer service job. He definitely made our experience better and had to put up with all our complaints. I would definitely think twice about going here again which is a real shame.

I visited last night with some friends for Bank Holiday lSunday. We got there and they were already running late on booked tables which meant having to queue up. One lovely waitress with an iPad seemed to be doing all the work taking orders which is a shame as the other staff members didn’t seem too bothered about helping her out which is a shame. App would not work so we was relying on the poor girl to come over. Our drinks didn’t come for over 30 minutes and this is after asking multiple members of staff where abouts they were and getting no response. We did feel ignored really and I do understand it was Bank Holiday but they do need more staff that can actually take orders etc and be as attentive as the poor waitress with an iPad. Drinks when they did come were tasty enough however and the atmosphere was great with the music etc.

Had the absolute worst time here. Waited for an hour for our food just for it to come and the order was wrong, ingredients were missing from the burgers. The presentation was bad and the burgers were raw.

Amazing restaurant with amazing staff. Especially Matt George and D. Lovely atmosphere. 100% Recommend . Due to social distancing and COVID you have to sit outside, however, that wasn’t an issue as the night was still amazing . Paul the bouncer was great too. Absolutely love the place and love the staff. P.S. if your getting a drink please try the blue raspberry cocktail they’re amazing

Cheap vodka. Couldn't ask for better service. Asked for a double vodka and the bar staff proceeded to back flip the drink into my mouth while singing the star spangled banner.

It was our Saturday night out went on the website to book a table could not do caled the number the Lady said not having bookings just turn up, turned up Ignorant Doorman said no does not work like that sit down outsite down load the app order your drinks as i had no wifi could not do so thought forget this went across the road straight into Jazz no problembs.

Haven’t ever eaten in this bar before but thought it was worth a try. I went for a chicken burger and fries which was lovely and good value for £10. There was a lot of menu choice which was tempting - it’s like American diner food. I would definitely eat there again

Endroit très très sympa et branché. On y mange très bien et c'est copieux. Bonne ambiance musicale et magnifique cadre. Et service impeccable et souriant.

The atmosphere was nice and friendly and the drinks were fairly cheap. However, the food took over an hour to come out and once received it was very cold and slightly undercooked (onion rings). The staff seemed like nice people but they were rushing about and not fully focusing on customer service. This restaurant has massive potential and I hope this might of been a one off!

Its fine, but you can do better. Went in for lunch and ended up waiting 40mins for 2 microwave burritos with jar sauces. To be fair, when we asked they said they only had one chef on, but if we'd have known there would be such a wait, we wouldn't have bothered. There were no soap dispensers in the toilet, which is grim anyway, but with the Covid stuff it's horrific. Likewise, the tables are very close and there were a few big groups around, no staff had PPE, but the bouncer made sure I took of my hat, so they've got that base firmly covered. The place doesn't really know what it is, but if you're a fan of Walkabout it's probably your kind of bar.

We tried to get in on a Saturday about 8pm but the bouncer said you need a booking, even though we could see tables inside and all the tables outside were empty. So not a great first impression. So we went back around 1pm on the Sunday, and were seated straight away as we were the only ones there. Used the app to order, not the best app as it kept crashing and is quite buggy, but got there in the end. The food was actually really nice, there is a range of basic cocktails which are half price before 10pm (around £5-7) and I could see there being a nice atmosphere with the music and more people. I would come again in the day for food.

Very poor service from start to finish got our name wrong then sat next to load of rowdy boozing kids nachos was just cheese and nachos thats it no salsa or quacomoli , every part of our meal we had to ask for , what was suppossed to accompany it , ie sour cream , guacamoli ,salsa all these should have come with our meals they forgot to give us our drinks ,warm water even though ice,cubes were asked for even a napkin they didnt bother given us, then after all that they tried charging us an extra 10 quid after given them ten pound deposit which should come off the final bill they forgot to do that as well ,totally inept in everthing they did you would off thought they would get the basic,s correct in the service but was if they were only bothered about the youngsters buying shot,s than given you decent meal service ,WONT be going there again and am only given 1,star as i cant give a no star

Lies to their Customers! Told me a table was booked for me when it had not. Messing about there customers should be the last thing on there mind at a time like this! A lesson in customer service wouldn't go a miss, unprofessional! Don't waste your money here, go to a better bar.

Visited for lunch for a change from elsewhere after somebody had told me it was "quite nice" had the steak sandwich with dirty dicks mix up fries. The food was absolutely amazing, the chips where spot on with the right amount of topping and the steak in the sandwich wasn't chewy at all would definitely recommend the place to anyone and will 100% be back!

Great food! Was blown away by the beef chilli, but than again everything from the menu is properly delicious.

Super place - food portions are massive a good range of beers. Served by Mel and Paul who made me very welcome though goodness’s knows how a one can finish one of their burgers 😅

I was very disappointed with this place. We were left waiting 20 minutes to place our order while our server was on his phone behind the bar. When the food came it was over cooked and nothing special at all. Plus at £50 for 2 people I don't think it's good value considering the service or quality of the food. Would not go again not recommend.

So arrived with my partner for a drink for nostalgic reasons as we both used to come here in our teens when it was good old "mint" well....we didnt even get chance to get to the bar and a barmaid basically shouted are you eating or drinking... no hello no hi just are you eating or drinking? When we said drinks for now and we will see got an oh ok! So we get our drinks which i must say was very reasonable priced 🙂 we then went and sat down within seconds it was do you want a menu which we said yes to as we felt obliged to Myself i have a wheat allergy so asked if they had a gluten free menu to be told they dont have one and that there meat is fine to eat😳 at this point im thinking i could die in here! So i asked for the allergens folder the lady was very hesitant so i explained i had a "wheat allergy" so she finally brought it over to me and my partner i said thanks ill just look through it (obviously having a wheat allergy im used to doing this) she said no...and then said we have said wheat is in everything 😱 as we mix stuff but if you tell me what you want ill make sure they dont mix it my reply was.."i dont think so im not risking that not a chance" the reply i got was ok and she walked off...obviously i wouldn't reccomend anyone with any allergies or intolerances to go there but you have give at least one star just to leave a review🤬

We went into this restraunt as we were in the old part of the city, lowgate area of Hull the interior is bright well lit and extremely clean, we were served by Melanie and amy, very friendly and happy staff. the food was excellent, hot and served quickly. there is a very good lunctime menu and a good childrens menu. Also the main menu is looking good, unfortunatley as it was lunch time we decided on the lunch menu (actually i was out voted...lol) The toilets which to me has always been a bug bear and normally lets restraunts down was a big suprise, absolutley spotless and super clean. I would reccomend this establishment to others. when in hull this is well worth a visit and the prices are very reasonable

We visited on a Saturday lunch, the staff were so friendly, helpful with our drinks and food choices too. The portions are really generous, a great menu with plenty to choose from, and the food itself was delicious, hot and tasty. The whole place was really clean, with a great atmosphere. Well worth a visit!

First time in Hull, did some research online and picked Dicks! So pleased we did - Kerry welcomed us with a big smile and looked after us - what an asset she is! Food was amazing - fab burgers -‘couldn’t eat it all and that doesn’t happen often. Highly recommend we will be back!

No ordering of drinks from the table. Spare rib starters minuscule. Nice atmosphere tho, and I liked the hot dog and best of all the thin sweet potato chips. Really nice.

Pre-booked Xmas night out for 16 with pre ordered food. There was a delay with food arriving but we were compensated with 3 bottles of fizz. Food was good and atmosphere buzzing, if not a bit too busy at the bar but a good night

Slightly disappointing after my fantastic previous visit. Poppy, the young goth lady who single-handedly greeted us, served drinks, took our food orders, and quite possibly cooked all the food whilst running the place (almost) single handedly was wonderful, and a credit to any establishment. As I've mentioned elsewhere Hull was surprisingly quiet, even for an early December crisp Sunday evening, and this probably had an impact. Nevertheless, it did kick-start our evening, and created some more happy memories. Dicks - Poppy was wonderful, but you need to give her more support, even when it's a quiet evening, OK?

I visited on a Saturday night and the place was full of people like you'd expect. Service at the bar was swift and they serve Blue Moon on tap so that was nice. Having worked here when it was The Mint, I can say it doesn't appear to have changed much since 2006, although the toilets are probably better.

Came here for a quick lunch and it was great. Servers are very polite and efficient. Food was amazing. Thank you too Poppy and Kirsty!

My partner and I had dinner at Dirty Dick's last night. The member of staff who served us (Matt) was lovely and very attentive. I had a cheeseburger and fries, and my partner had paprika balls with sweet potato fries. Both dishes were great - really tasty and presented well. I also liked that Matt double-checked whether my partner wanted normal or vegan cheese as he was having a vegetarian meal. It was nice to have that consideration.

My husband and i came here for lunch, the food was outstanding cooked by Lucy. We were looked after Kirsty she was so friendly and courtious a credit to the company i had a lovely cocktail made by Matthew we will be back we would recommend to family and friends keep up the good work guys.

We have been to this place many times before but on a Saturday night , thought we would try the food, one lunchtime, we wasn't disappointed , the food was excellent , cooked to perfection and also lots on the portion ( I personally couldn't finish mine ) . The restaurant was very clean , staff were very friendly , we were looked after mostly by a girl called Natalie , who told us it was her first day , she'll be a good member of the team , so professional you wouldn't have thought it was her first day .

Just popped in for a quick lunch. Ended up having the best burger I can remember. I must have had better at some time in the last 49 years, but I'm struggling to remember... Just a really nice plate of food, at a reasonable price.

Was very impressed with the food and the price, the only problem was we shouldn't have ordered sides as too much. Kerry looked after us so well. Would definitely recommend eating here, great food and great service at a great price!

we went here a couple of months back and the burgers were amazing , keep an eye on their facebook as they often do deals we got 241 on burgers which was really good.

They brought starter with main dish together, but the food was really great and tasty.

lovely food, friendly staff at 430pm on a friday it was pretty quiet, only complaint is the pump cola and lemonade tasted like flat cheap sugary rubbish.But great choice on menu and tasted lovely.
