Dirty Bones Carnaby in City of London, Westminster

Dirty Bones… what happened? This place used to feel like a cheeky wink and a good time wrapped in brioche. Now it’s like I wandered into a moody teenager’s bedroom and asked for a cocktail. Gone are the warm welcomes, the guestbook, the vibe. Asking for a table, a drink, or the bill felt less like ordering food and more like interrupting someone deep into chapter seven of a particularly gripping library book called “How Not to Care About Your Job.” Trying to flag down a waiter? Honestly, I’d have better luck getting eye contact with a cat. The staff seemed more invested in their own soap opera than in, you know, running the restaurant. I’m all for a bit of backstage banter, but not when my Mac Daddy turns up tasting like it’s been ghosted by its own seasoning. The chicken fries were also so spicy they staged a hostile takeover of my tastebuds and left the poor burger in a witness protection programme. And oh my actual gosh, the table politics. I asked to sit inside and was met with the sort of hesitance you’d expect if I’d tried to book the entire Bank Tavern for a Sunday roast at 12:59pm on the hottest day of July. Meanwhile, three empty tables sat there, lonely, untouched, like forgotten characters in a badly written play, for the entire time I was there. The final act? Asking for the bill. One waiter nodded with the solemnity of a man heading to war… and then vanished. I’ve actually written this review while waiting to pay. They still had the cheek to slap on a 12.5% service charge, as if someone had, at some point, served me (there was a young blonde lady who was very attentive and professional). The whole experience felt heartless. The soul has gone. The flavours have fled. The joy is missing, presumed dead. Dirty Bones has become spineless. It was like a prison treat day, though to be fair, I’ve never been to prison. But if I had, I imagine at least the guards would acknowledge your existence. Dirty Bones, you used to flirt. Now you ghost.

We randomly stumbled into this place for a quick dinner and man was it good! Especially our server Nikol was brilliant and super attentive, so hard to find a proper customer care these days. We will definitely come back for more!

We were quite disappointed at the experience at Dirty Bones Carnaby. Made a reservation online, only to be told on arrival to sit ourselves. Surprised to have a 12.5% service charge added to our bill despite lack thereof. While the chicken and waffle was good, the duck in the duck and waffle was overcooked and rubbery. That said, the presentation and atmosphere were nice.

The lamb fries are absolutely sensational, and the burgers are very moist. We were only supposed to get one portion, but we ended up getting two. Our server Ashley's service was the epitome of customer service and we saw her giving the same service to other tables. She was an hostess making sure everyone in was being looked after and having a good time. She was attentive and recommended our wine and a cocktail. Ashley, thank you for making our evening truly wonderful. Your attentive service, great recommendations for drinks, and thoughtful food choices made our experience memorable. We couldn't have asked for a better place to catch up.

Nicole was amazing and she served us a treat. A delightful experience with lots of tasty food. We ordered a portion of Flat Iron Steak (beautifully cooked), Duck & Waffles (very tasty), and some Buffalo Fries (slightly over-seasoned) and some tasty mocktails Lyte & Sweet and More Life. Looking forward to try the other dishes.

Have been meaning to eat here for a while and finally got the chance with my best friend. Nicole was our host and welcomed us with warmth and a beautiful smile. We didn't have a reservation but she gave us a lovely table and good recommendations on food and the drinks. We had the duck and waffle and flat iron steak with mac balls and slaw. Followed by Cheesecake and awesome WuTangarita mocktails #SUUUUU #WuTangForever Would definitely advise eating here. The food and the vibe is great and the whole team were amazing, especially Nicole & Ruth on the bar. Will definitely be the first of many visits.

I am a foodie, and I tell you something. I haven't had food from a restaurant this amazing in a while. And Nicole was so lovely to us. Beautiful smile and welcoming. Treated us well. Love it. Definitely going to be back. More a few times.

I had a disappointing experience at Dirty Bones. The restaurant wasn’t busy, but the service felt rushed—my server started clearing things before I’d even finished eating, just 15 minutes after my food arrived. The food itself wasn’t bad, but it was cold and lacked flavor. Portions were small for the price. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend it.

Great food and service. Everyone was welcoming and friendly. Henry served us and knowing that we were heading to a concert after dinner ensured that we got our food quickly, helped us settle the bill quickly - nothing was too much trouble. We had a lovely evening and will definitely return.

The food was really enjoyable, though the mac and cheese burger was (surprisingly) not the star of the show.

I'm a bit late with this review as we went earlier in the year but tasty food and really great service. The manager was very kind and understanding regarding my food allergies (raw garlic/onion). He checked to see whether it was an intolerance vs an allergy and reassured me that what I had ordered didn't have it (lamb burger). He mentioned something I ordered had cooked onion - maybe the seasoning on the fries? - and checked to see if it would be okay (which it was). Attentive, considerate and super helpful and he brought a nice atmosphere to the place. I wish I knew his name so I could publish it (he sounded American, had a Busta Rhymes vibe). Aside from the food and atmosphere, I thought the seating and decor were solid as well. Fantastic location.

Price performance for the food is quite ok. Burgers a little too small. The service is super friendly and you are a bit away from the noisy streets. Very good for taking a breather.

Yes the chicken is decent at Dirty Bones Carnaby Street but the service on a not- that-busy Sunday was all over the place. It started off well with a friendly maitre d' (?) who sorted out our cocktails, starter and main. I mentioned it was my birthday and was told to expect a little something at the end of our meal. However once we finished our mains and we waited far too long for our service to resume. My rule of thumb with service is as soon as you notice it's lacking, it's gone wrong... Multiple serving staff sorted out our plates and dessert (fyi the doughnuts were freshly cooked and tasty) but no sign of the maitre d' and the promised birthday bonus completely forgotten. A promising start but a disappointing end to the evening, which I've experienced too many times at too many restaurants that I think future Dirty Bones customers deserve to know as I suspect this wasn't a one off. Honestly Dirty Bones, why such inconsistent service? And you really shouldn't make (birthday) promises you're not planning to keep or they will end up in your Google Reviews.

So, my wife and I went to this place, completely unplanned yesterday. I had the classic burger (or whatever the name of the burger with macaroni is), and my wife had the OG chicken burger something. When they brought the classic burger, I was quite sceptical to be honest. But ALL that disappeared once I took the first bite. Hands down, one of the best burgers I have had recently in London. So good on so many levels. As for the OG Chicken, wow, equally better :)). I mean it looked like an over-the-top-deep-fried chicken with little meat, but it was anything but. The actual fried part was very thin and tasty, whilst the chicken was just unbelievably tender. We also had a small salad which was very good. All in all, a place we will definitely visit again soon and a place we highly recommend.

Nicole is a 5star waitress! Couldn’t asked for anything else!

We had an amazing time, Agnieszka is an absolute gem of a server and her attentiveness and genuine enthusiasm made us feel so well cared for – we can't wait to be seated in her section again! Food and drink wise, the bar sent out our coctails with crushed ice which makes thr cocktails a lot harder to drink, even though we requested cubes. And most importantly, please bring back the frickles as the long halves, they were 100 times better than the slices you do now, which are dry and hard.

The food was amazing- I got the Wayu burger and fries - it was 10/10. Service was incredible- my server was Justina and she made my experience here one to remember! Definitely recommend.

Came here for lunch and was very impressed! The chicken is lovely and juicy, not dry at all. I got the buffalo burger and it was actually spicy - which I loved! The tater tots are also amazing, the birria beef it's served with is full of flavour. I also liked how the staff weren't too overwhelming, as some places can be really pushy. Overall, I highly recommend if you like chicken!

After reading other Google reviews, I was so looking forward to trying this place and having my mind blown by the food! Unfortunately, Dirty Bones didn’t really meet any of my expectations - while the service was good, the food was best described as average. The buffalo chicken burger was the highlight, with really tasty deep-fried chicken thigh and a punchy sauce, but no ‘wow-factor’. The side and small plate were actually pretty disappointing - there was hardly any flavour on the onion and garlic salt fries, and the popcorn frickles were chewy and bland, saved only by the Scotch Bonnet jam. Decided to splash out and get a cocktail to see if this is where Dirty Bones could score a few more points, but the ‘Deputy Dog’ (a twist on a classic Paloma) was again just average. It tasted like an alcoholic Capri Sun. I struggled to taste any of the grapefruit bitters. The atmosphere was also a bit odd for a place that tries to echo NYC nightlife - the lighting was very harsh which wasn’t helped by the reflective surface of the table. Perhaps a bit more mood-lighting could improve this? I’ve given Dirty Bones 3 stars on account of the burger being decent and the staff being attentive, but this was very close to being a 2-star review. I wouldn’t hurry to come back.

They said we have a gluten-free hamburger option, it might be the worst and most carelessly prepared hamburger I have ever eaten in my life, the hamburger bun was so cold that it had still had ice cubes in it after it had been taken out of the cooler and there was only a dry hamburger in it😔

very nice restaurant i had an absolutely splendid time. the area was very nice and the atmosphere was good. The food was exquisite the cheeseburger gyozas were ansolutely immaculate and dripping in flavour. however, i feel the portion sizes could have been greater given the price. shout out to o smailly a very nice guy.

Given my garlic allergy Mithun went above and beyond to help me choose my dishes. The cocktails were sooooo good!! We each enjoyed our food & drinks! Everything w as perfect! Personal genial, pero eso fue lo mejor que se puso. Patatas fritas tibias, panecillo suave y escamoso, empanada no mejor que las cadenas de hamburguesas, y la hamburguesa de pollo que un niño podría apreciar, ¿era pollo procesado? Vino totalmente caro... asaltado... nunca más.
