Dining at Centurion Club in St Albans

It's always a pleasure to eat at the Centurion. We celebrated our wedding anniversary there yesterday with Sunday lunch. The quality of the food is always good and, as you would expect delicious. A good number of the staff have been there a long time and, in my opinion, deliver some of the best service in the area.

I could not possibly, should I try my hardest, find the smallest spec of imperfection by dining at Centurion Club. Indeed, served and eaten to my delight.

Pristine conditions, excellent service and food. I will go again

Delicious ham hock starter with pickled onions and mustard mayo followed by polenta cake and mushrooms in a cream and wine sauce. Desert Panacotta made with Tonka Beans, which really do have a distinctive flavour. Service excellent if a little slow at times but worth the wait!

We attended the steak night at Centurion Club and it was fantastic. As soon as we arrived all the staff were very friendly and helpful. You can tell a lot of work goes into maintaining the grounds and the restaurant to keep it well presented at all times. The food itself was very nice indeed. There were plenty of options on the menu to cater for all tastes. The steak itself was cooked to perfection and the blue cheese sauce was up there with one of the best sauces I have ever tasted. Another highlight of the meal was the triple cooked chips which were superb and really well cooked. The sticky toffee pudding for desert was very nice as well. All my family really enjoyed their meals and we would highly recommended the Centurion. As others have said, it is a little pricey but in this case you really do get what you pay for.

I thoroughly enjoyed the elevated atmosphere and high-quality food at the restaurant. The ambiance added to the overall dining experience, complementing the delicious dishes served. Highly recommend!

Had afternoon tea with my sister here for her birthday and we had the most wonderful time! The sandwiches, scones and cakes were truly sensational. We even got a special birthday dessert on the house - so thoughtful! What’s more, the room where we were seated is beautifully decorated with very comfortable lounge seating. Cannot recommend this place highly enough! Thank you for making our experience extra special !

Fantastic golf club great service and fantastic food.

Food was absolutely delicious would have given 5* however they didn’t have a few items on the menu left which was a real let down. Service was great, ambience was nice, we had hoped to be seated in the back room which is really pretty. Highly recommend this place and I’ll be returning very soon.

I had the burger and wedges beforehand and it was lovely, well flavoured and prepared. Good selection of drinks available as well. Half way around had a toasted cheese and ham sandwich which was equally as nice. Lovely staff and nice atmosphere

Fantastic food which is presented beautifully. Have been here twice now, once for dinner and once for afternoon tea. Would highly recommend both. Quality of food and drink here is exceptional. Staff are so warm and welcoming also. The view of the grounds are stunning 😍

The food was poor. My medium rare ribeye was blue/rare. The mountain of watercress, tomatoes and mushrooms didn't make up for the 6 chips. Service was slow at best which they charge 12.5% for. On the plus side the dining area was a nice place to sit. You will save money and have better food at a Miller and Carter

I wasn't here for the dining experience. I was at an LIV golf event played over the Centurion course. Great course, some fantastic golf and enjoyed the event.

This is the Centurion Golf Course in Hemel Hempstead. It's location is perfectly placed just off the M1 . There is plenty of parking and the Bar area and outside seating is very nice and comfortable. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The scenery at the back of the bar is good with a small lake nearby. There are facilities for small functions or larger ones. Overall, It is a nice venue and the easy transport links make it an ideal place to get to.

Had a lovely lunch to celebrate my brothers birthday. The food was amazing and the restaurant is in a beautiful setting.

Charity day at Centurion, course in great condition, food excellent service really good

This restaurant serves excellent food. The staff are friendly, the service is good. However, this is a restaurant on a golf course; expect an older demographic and to feel a little out of place if you are not part of the golf world. Still, very worth it. Pricey but delicious!

It was a very special occasion for my three friends and I. We decided upon Afternoon Tea at Centurion. The food was superb. The ambiance was exceptional. The service from Charlie was exemplary. We shall definitely be returning! Thank you Centurion.

Lovely greeting, warm welcome beautiful setting and gorgeous food, great service and perfect for anyday and special occasions. Such a lovely team highly recommend thank you so very much. Gorgeous salted butter with lovely bread every detail was carefully considered, the flowers, the candles, the outdoor seating area wonderful. Our new favourite place.

The menu was interesting and reminded us of the master chef program.snd the food didn't disappoint either.

A class act, well cooked well presented and tasty food from their fixed price lunch menu. Parking is very easy and you get a view of the 18th green while dining.

I came here for afternoon tea with my boyfriend and had such a lovely time. The staff were attentive and ensured that the afternoon was made special as it was my birthday. They were also able to cater for our dietary requirements without any issues (vegetarian and nut allergy). The food was delicious: the selection of sandwiches was inventive and the scones were freshly baked and still warm when they arrived. As a vegetarian, it was lovely being able to go out for an afternoon tea with an excellent array of sandwiches, scones and sweet treats. Will be recommending to all friends and family.

I hosted my wedding dinner at Centurion in the garden room and it was unforgettable! The food was superb, Calvin did a fabulous job with the menu and it went down great with all our guests! The service was top notch and Illr, Kate & the team were very attentive and did a fantastic job at making sure all our guests had everything they wanted! Sarah, the events manager is wonderful. She has been such a pleasure to work with! She helped us plan and create an incredible dinner/reception to mark our special day! She thinks of all the small details and nothing is ever too much for her to do. I look forward to coming back to Centurion to celebrate our anniversary every year with dinner at the restaurant!

This was perfect. We could charge the car which was great. The food was all brilliant, and shout out the the chefs. The chef Andy came out and was brilliant company talking through the food. Loved it

Maybe we were unlucky, but we had a dire Sunday lunch. The quality of the food was poor as was the service.

Always enjoy our visits here. Relaxed dining with beautiful views on a sunny day. In winter, the fireplace at the bar/lounge is v cosy

Lovely food, a little quiet. They need a more extensive white wine menu, I was only offered a choice of 3 wines by the glass.

Wow what a fantastic place. I was invited to attend a corporate event and it was held here a round of golf and a meal after. What a magnificent place. Staff and green keepers are a real credit to this place. I would love to return again one day.

This location is inside a golf club that provides access mainly to members and their guests.

We love Sunday lunch here. Good quality food and portions, and service is attentive. It's certainly more expensive but you get what you pay for. Also, for me, it's the best gravy around (and they give lots of it)! Lovely surroundings too. Which make it a relaxing affair. They welcome families, which is nice.

Mediocre food at best. Felt like leftovers from a Sunday. Service not great, although 20% added to bill. Location and view v nice, but will not be going back. V disappointed

WONDERFUL AFTERNOON TEA This is a retrospective review, as I forgot to post one when we first visited in February. We were served in The Garden Room. The sandwiches were fresh and very tasty, scones were delicious and the delicate pastries/cakes were a pure delight to look at and eat. We were a party of ten, adults and children, with varying dietary requirements. Nothing was too much trouble for our waitress JADE, who was super efficient, patient and friendly. Can’t wait for another special occasion to visit again.

Definitely would come back as was made very welcome by all the staff. We played golf and then had a bar meal which was absolutely fantastic.

Lovely venue, went for afternoon tea, great selection of sandwiches, cakes and scones with beautiful views over the golf club. Lit beautifully with lights created a wonderful Christmas atmosphere. Service was lovely and welcoming

Fabulous tasting food. Top drawer presentation and full marks to the chef. Service top class and perfect ambience.

The entrance to this one is a bit tucked away, but the lounge was very nice and the staff were very attentive.

Had high expectations for the Festive meal for myself and a business colleague. The Roasted Tiger Prawns were distinctly average and served up on cool plates. Not the bursting flavour I expected and was disappointing as well as expensive. My colleague had the same and shared the same view. Our main courses were just ok! We sent the large glasses of House Merlot back twice as the first tasted old and the second, from a new bottle, was still quite unpleasant and tasted just wrong for a standard Merlot. Replaced with an ok Shiraz. Although my Poached Pear & Mulled Wine Syrup was ok, it would have been nicer in my view, to have been warm as it was stone cold. Again did not feel like fine dining. Our table service was good but we were both left with a feeling that the food was very average indeed and not cheap either. Not on my rush to return list.

Had an afternoon tea with my bestie at the Centurian club yesterday and we were pleasantly surprised with the lovely views, great ambience, Christmas decorations and the fantastic food. I am a vegetarian and they served special finger sandwiches for me which were off the menu! Great choices of teas, freshly baked scones and an assortment of cakes and pastries. The service was very good and the atmosphere was very welcoming and relaxing. Really impressed with the whole package and would definitely recommend it.

I was fortunate enough to be invited to a party held here in December... what a treat it was , fantastic food and the service was immaculate.. a beautiful setting and the whole experience was a delight...

We recently visited the Centurion Club, perfection from start to finish, a beautiful room with lovely music and pleasant atmosphere. Wonderful service and no pushy waiters. Food was delicious and very well presented. Cons, I personally find the starters options are a bit to slim with not to many options for the meat lovers. I really enjoyed the experience and I will visit them in future. A bit pricey compare with other restaurants in the area but if would you like something better, I guess you have to pay.

What a wonderful venue. I was hosted by Terrace Cult clothing and had a splendid day at this young but very challenging golf course. My score is probably the worst hit in a number of years but this has no bearing on the club. Great food breakfast and dinner. Amazing half way house which served us with a BBQ and Ballers champagne. Picturesque tee to green holes with tight fairways and bunkers placed brilliantly to catch every standard of player. If the opportunity arises and an invite to this course becomes available to you ensure you swap your diary around to fit it in. Thanks again to all at centurion golf club . Great experience going to golf club it was nice clean lots parking very smart helpful staff nice clean inside professional service.

Championship course off the Black tees is challenging, but off the other tees turns it into a Par 74 with a lot of short Par 5 holes and a lot more fun. Course was in good condition and although the greens had been recently worked on, they were true. Exclusive course with some of the highest joining & membership fees in the country.

Visited for afternoon tea. Although the surroundings were beautiful the staff were a bit disinterested and the selection for afternoon tea sandwiches and cakes definitely not worth the £35 per head. One plus point though the Tiramisu Tea was very tasty

excellent staff and one of the best venues for a lovely Sunday lunch. Everything about the meal was fantastic and the roast potatoes are perfect.

This was a really nice peaceful place to play golf. There were 18 pavilions over the entire stadium. The arrangement and staff was also good.
