Went to this hotel restaurant with friends on Saturday night. Id booked a table, glad I did as it was pretty busy. Owner was very friendly. The menu was extensive and very reasonable. Food was all very tasty. Would definitely dine here again if in the area.

We ate dinner here on 2 nights over a weekend. Great menu choice for such a small venue. Choice for everyone from traditional meals likes steak pie and lasagne, plus curries and pizza. Lovely setting, rustic, but comfortable with log burner stove making it nice and cosy and beautiful location on the edge of Loch Tay. Really friendly helpful staff/owners. Looking forward to visiting again :-).

Great homemade chips, along with the best steak pie I've ever had the pleasure of eating. The fish was great too.

Spent no money and three minutes here today. Drove past on our way to a walk and saw sign Tea and Coffee. Started to doubt the welcome here and first impressions were completely correct. Bar man did not smile or say anything. I, the would be customer, wanting to spend holiday money, asked for tea but there was none. This was a hotel on a Monday afternoon. After putting boots back on as you have to remove them in a bar, we ran back to the car. Avoid this hotel and go to the Watermill at Aberfeldy.

We had a one night stay in this hotel and we had dinner in its restaurant. The place is good old fashioned but very charming (especially its bar) and with a relaxing warm atmosphere. There was a large variety of dishes to choose from. We had two large pizzas. They were really big, not exactly thin and crispy (the Italian way) but thick and juicy with a lot of cheese, very tasty and very filling. Beef lasagna was another surprise, big portion, much better cooked than most of the other restaurants. The meat and ale pie was another great surprise. A taste of whisky at the end (plenty of them in the bar) completed a fine dinner. We were absolutely satisfied with the quality and quantity of food offered. And we were more happy to see the bill with an absolutely reasonable total price. Thank you Paul EXCELLENT VALUE FOR MONEY, STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.

We had a couple of evening meals whilst staying along the road in Loch Tay View - it also served as a great little stop-off for a quick refreshment after walking the dog on my way home. The hotel allows walkers to use their car park for the day for a small charge which is refunded if they order food - and I can certainly recommend you to do so - the fish and chips is amazing as was the peppery steak and ale pie - and it is always nice to get home made chips rather than the usual "out of a packet" fare you often get served up at pubs. Big portions and all happily finished off.

Stopped here for lunch with husband and 18 month old. Food was typical pub food, of a reasonable standard if rather overpriced for what it was. We were the only customers the whole time and in hindsight I can see why! The man at the bar was distinctly unfriendly - when my husband asked for the Wi-Fi password he was told that it was for hotel guests only (apparently spending over £40 on food and drink doesn't entitle you to 30 minutes of wifi use!). After our meal we had to change my toddler's clothes as he had got soup all down himself (not on the floor I hasten to add). While changing him I noticed his nappy was full (wee, not poo) so given that there were no baby change facilities and the dining room was completely empty I thought I'd quickly change his nappy then and there. Now I appreciate that this wasn't ideal on our part, but the staff's reaction was totally disproportionate! A lady, who we hadn't seen before up to this point, came out to tell us off. I apologised and explained that I hadn't originally intended to change him there. Instead of graciously accepting my apology, she continued to berate me about it. It was completely over the top. People like that just shouldn't work in hospitality.

What a rude man. Parked up prior to a walk. We were not given an opportunity to discuss dinner that evening by the owner. Took our £5, when I tried to get his attention by tapping on his widow....Basil returned and returned my £5 and I was told to get off his property. Seriously what a numpty. I would not recommend this place to any of my friends or family

We were staying at one of the cottages nearby & to save a drive in the rain down country roads to get something to eat in Aberfeldy we made a call to Ben Lawers Hotel. We were provided an extensive menu in the cottage but were advised that because it was a Sunday they only served roast dinners. Apparently, they don't receive deliveries often so by the end of the week they aren't able to offer the full menu. That was ok for us but they should maybe state that on their paperwork. They only serve food until 7.30pm on a Sunday, we called at 7pm, not aware of the time restriction, and were advised that the chef would happily cook for us. We had our puppy with us at the cottage so ordered it to take-away. It was only when we arrived to collect it that we realised they're dog-friendly! We'll know for next time. The chef had prepared us a lovely take-away dinner & had kindly wrapped it all up for us. Three of us had the beef & one had the gammon. The three who had beef loved it but my daughter wasn't keen on the gammon. That being said, my daughter is 14 & apparently doesn't like anything! My only criticism is that the veg was a little hard, it could have done with a bit longer cooking. The portion was very generous & over-all was excellent quality. If we're ever in the area again we will definitely return but with our pup in tow with us.

An unexpected stop for an evening meal on Sunday was just what required. The wet weather had dampened some spirits but not with the log fire being lit on our arrival. This provided some warmth but so did the whisky. We had not booked ahead but would recommend this to others. We had high expectations having been here before some time ago. The menu fitted both my husband and parents needs. Offering a choice of roasts but we all chose the tradiational roast beef with all the trimmings, then finishing with apple pie and custard.

We arrived at the weekend for lunch having seen a copy of their menu and thought it looked very good, however when we arrived the a la carte menu was not available and instead it was a set menu and whilst this was good value the food was nothing special. Yes the hotel is in a lovely setting overlooking Loch Tay however from the bar there is only one table by the window that you get this view.

We stopped here for dinner, and wondered what to expect. It is an old place and looks it. But, don't let that put you off. We didn't and ars glad we stayed. The food is delicious. I didn't have a starter and am very grateful for that. So my main course was chicken breast stuffed with haggis and black pudding and wrapped in bacon. We met a Scottish couple outside and she had the same as me, and loved it. They said they would be back. And so will we, whenwe next visit the area.Just one warning, they serve big helpings.

We stopped off here on the road back to Kenmore from Killin for a late lunch / early dinner.Due to the time we arrived we were the only people in the restaurant but despite that we were attended to and served with food very promptly.I ordered a homemade burger and chips and my wife ordered haddock and chips. Both were lovely and very tasty. We were offered refreshments for the dog too, who lay under the table while we dined. The views are incredible, looking out over Loch Tay to the hills on the south side of the loch.I think this place is a favourite for hill walkers who can use the car park while they explore provided they stop in for a drink and / or food upon their return, which is only fair.

After a day in the hills we stopped off, not for the first time, at the Ben Lawers for some food. Our place of choice, as well as the Killin Hotel, when in this area. Friendly staff met us and we were seated and served quickly. As always the food was good and plentiful. Only slight quibble is they have changed the menu and removed the Lawers Mess from the desserts plus no trifle either, so I actually had to look at the menu this time... ;-) . That aside no problems. The hotel is walker and dog friendly so I can recommend it.

Greeted on arrival by two very friendly and well-mannered Australian girls. Asked for a pint of Guinness, was given draught in a can which was put onto some sort of machine for reasons I'm not entirely sure. Charged £3.80 for the privilege. Fish & chips for dinner was reasonable enough, if slightly on the pricey side. Barmaid/waitress couldn't be more helpful enough. Became aware of loud swearing coming from the kitchen where it was obvious the French sounding chef hated his job. I don't mind swearing in a pub, but this was over the score. Kitchen door was eventually closed.

Booked a table for 8 of us at 7.30. When the first of the party arrived they were met with a grumpy bar person who growled that the table was booked for 8pm, not a good start to the night. We ordered drinks which were slow to arrive and ordered our food when drinks arrived. Waiter came back to say they only had one portion of scampi!!! Bit surprising considering this is a frozen packet meal and the hotel only re opened 6 days previously. Starters eventually came followed by cutlery some time later. Main courses arrived which were served on cold plates, we had to wait on all 8 meals before cutlery was brought to the table, I had Salmon which by the time I got cutlery was cold, it was served with 2 small potatoes and very small portion of veg. 2 of the party had Rib Eye steak but the steak knives were blunt so they didn't enjoy sawing their way through. Our Bill was just over £25 per head for 1 round of drinks, 2 bottles of wine, 4 starters and 8 mains, not good value at all. The waiter was at best grumpy, atmosphere non existent, and the room was cold unless you were sitting at the wood burning stove, there was a lovely fire at the other end if the room but unfortunately was not lit, so most of our party were freezing. This hotel has no other nearby competition so obviously don't think they need to make an effort. We won't be back

It was a really pleasant surprise to stop in for late lunch at the Ben Lawers this summer. The menu was more expansive than most and was supplemented with a substantial amount of blackboard specials. I now know it's a popular place for climbers/Monroe baggers to start from but the variety on offer in such a remote seeming place surprised me when I first walked in. Weather permitting, its a lovely spot to stop for a stretch and a cup of tea even if you don't eat. We did and didn't regret it.My brie and bacon hotpot was lovely and my lady's smoked fish got particularly high praise. Main courses were tasty, large, and slightly overcooked but we're talking good pub grub here rather than fine dining. We'll be back.

We ate here last night and drove 40 minutes from St Fillans up windy, dark roads (even dodged a couple of sheep!) - it was totally worth it!!The staff (really nice man and woman - unsure if these two actually own the place) were lovely and so welcoming. We sat in front of a wood burning stove which was nice and relaxing. Made a great atmosphere even homier! To start I had potted Brie, bacon and cranberry which was served with fresh ciabatta and salad. My boyfriend had the "Wee Taste" - haggis and black pudding with a whiskey cream sauce. Both were amazing! Our mains were phenomenal. I had the lamb shank casserole - this was ridiculous!! The lamb was just falling off the bone. I've never had lamb so tender and tasty. It was so simple though which I think made it even better, just served with mash. Steven had chicken stuffed with haggis ... Wrapped in bacon ... On top of black pudding ... With whiskey sauce!!! The portions were pretty sizeable and to be honest we really didn't need the starters, but they were delicious so no regrets! We will definitely make the effort to drive to Ben Lawers again. The food was tremendous!

Lovely views of Loch Tay. Wander down to the ruins, scramble around, dip your toe in the loch and work up an appetite. Then return just in time for some enormous portions, reminiscent of home cooking. One of our party had the lamb shank (so big he forewent dinner later), while I had the seafood platter - a starter size only but enough for lunch certainly. Tasty white wine sauce, generous portions, fresh ingredients, locally sourced, lovely rose to accompany the meal and views that were spectacular as the sun shone down around the Loch. Autumn had set in. Ian the owner was full of useful tips and information. The wooden deck was just warm enough with the sun, but not for much longer, and the log fire inside was a big help to dry our boots from the morning's hike. Very reasonably priced and fantastic service, will definitely be recommending this gem.

My fiance and I visited the restaurant while we were staying nearby on holiday. We called in during the afternoon to book a table, which was a wise move, as even on a Tuesday night, it was packed when we arrived at 8.We had a table by a window but unfortunately only with a view of a caravan! We ordered a bottle of wine and both had the "Wee taster of Stornoway black pudding and Simon Howie haggis topped with whisky sauce" - which turned out not to be "wee" at all! Quite substantial but lovely flavours and the whisky sauce was delicious. For main course I ordered the "Chicken fillet stuffed with Scottish Haggis, wrapped with bacon and served on a bed of Stornoway black pudding, topped with our whiskey cream sauce" and my fiance ordered the steak. When they arrived we were both a bit speechless because of the size of the portions! Neither of us could finish, just making sure we ate the most important bits of our dishes (i.e. leaving most of the veg!). The flavours were lovely and the steak cooked just right.Unfortunately neither of us had room for dessert so took our 2nd bottle of wine to the bar area to finish where we chatted with the 2 very friendly bar staff.Would definitely recommend after a day out walking in the hills!

We visited this hotel for a family dinner with our three children and were very surprised to find they had no children's menu and refused to do half portions. Needing a wholesome, refreshing and restful meal after arriving in the area well into the evening, Ben Lawers hit all the right buttons, and it was still warm and bright enough to sit out and just enjoy being there. The young woman behind the bar was delightfully incongruous: a Parisian (a very un-Scottish Parisian), just arrived, knowing little about the area, Scottish beer, ... but she added to the experience of just being there in this atmospheric place.

Okay, so it was only a brief visit for a drink on a Tuesday after a day in the hills but.....I remember this hotel/bar as a friendly and often lively stop-off but not on this occasion. Okay, the place was quiet but the barman was pretty dour and uninterested. The biggest sin however was the lack of beer, lager to be precise! None on tap or in the fridge as they were "waiting on a delivery". A couple asking for 2 Cokes met with a similar response with only the Diet variety being available.A bar running out of beer and soft drinks is a sure sign of an establishment being badly run. I won't be rushing back.

This unassuming little pub didn't look much from the outside but it's true what they say..never judge a book...Inside the was a log burning stove as well as a big open fire at the other end of the bar which made it very cosy and inviting. The staff were really nice and friendly which definitely added to the great atmosphere, but the best bit was the food. This was much more than pub grub. Hubby had lasagne which he really enjoyed and I had scallops with black pudding - delicious! A little gem of a place.

Almost 5 pounds for a cappuccino for which no order has been taken at first, for which you then have to wait more than 20 minutes, with a spoon and sugar missing and, as a highlight, a 10% service fee appears on the bill? As beautiful as it is in Gleneagles - unfortunately we didn't like it at all...

We were enjoying a nice drink in the beer garden one sunny afternoon, when a youth started shouting & swearing at us because we were English (which was funny in itself because none of us are 100% English). The locals were appalled at his behaviour & the landlord immediately ejected him, however, it cast a shadow on our visit.

I give up, I really do. Have stopped using the restaurant because the food is pretty poor and the staff are surly at best. This morning I wanted to purchase a food item which they have stocked for years. First young girl I asked couldn't understand what I was asking for, second one said they didn't stock it although she has served me in the past and the third one said it had sold out but they might be getting some in in a couple of weeks. Several other local people have mentioned how rude the staff were. Hospitable is not a word you can use for this place and yet years ago it used to be good on all counts.
