Dine Thyme in Edinburgh, City of

First time ordering from here and will definitely order again. We ordered 2 full breakfasts and I was surprised by the packaging it arrived in. They had added extra insulation to keep the food warm which was a nice touch. The quality of the food was brilliant and the amount was well worth the money. Would highly recommend!

Lovely old school cafe with a Morden twist one man shop great order to table time while having a good conversation can’t recommend this place enough

Lucky to have chanced upon this hidden gem for breakfast during our trip to Edinburgh. Had “The Works” breakfast box which was delicious and very reasonably priced! The owner Scott was also very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Would definitely recommend 100%.

Came here for the first time and was not disappointed. Sat outside and just watched the happenings of the street, chatted with the friendly employee (maybe the owner), and had wonderful eggs, hash browns, and potato scones. Would highly recommend for a filling and healthy (and yummy) breakfast! A great way to start a day.

It’s been a while since I visited this fantastic place. It certainly didn’t disappoint, Scott as ever is the perfect host, friendly professional and consistent in his approach to serving quality fare. My wife said it was the best pot of tea and bacon roll she has had in many a year. I too was hugely impressed with my crispy bacon roll and excellent coffee. This place really is a gem and well worth a visit. Supporting hard working small businesses like this one rather than the big guys is really worth it. Take a bow Scott and Dine Thyme.

So I ordered a take away breakfast as a lazy treat on my day off. I am delighted that this was a fantastic idea because I will do this again. It arrived cooked to perfection, with a beautiful fried egg on top and a wee ramekin separate with the beans. Cheers chef

The fried egg and hash browns were amazing but wouldn’t recommend the black pudding to be completely honest other than that brilliant and lovely little message plus an imperial mint because it was my first order :) thank you!

Great service from the owner who was very welcoming. The fry-up we had was great, and the portions were very generous.

Everything was dry and hard and all you could taste was grease at least 90% off the breakfast went in the bin it was a waste of £20

The Mexican style bean & chilli soup was excellent. Coeliac, Gluten Free & Vegan. Then had a great pulled pork jacket potato, again gluten and dairy free!

Pretty awful, got a bacon roll and I'm sure the roll was from the day before, very dry and falling to peices.The price for a bacon roll and a tea nearly a £5,won't be back

Dine Thyme is a wee gem in the centre of Edinburgh, where you can get good value for money rolls and coffee. Scott is a great host and always makes me feel at home. I love coming every morning for my coffee and watch the world go by. Dine Thyme is a community institution that we simply couldn’t live without. Fully recommend.

The manager is a considerate and very friendly person who listens to serve you best. The place a little away from the tourist center. I had my best Scottish breakfast there.

I had a wonderful experience at Dine Thyme. It was my first day in Edinburgh and after a day of travel before where I didn’t get to eat much if at all, I was starving and craving a solid Scottish breakfast. The food was fantastic, fresh, filling and amazing value for money. I had a large cappuccino as well and it just hit the spot. The owner is lovely and made me feel so welcomed. He gave great tips for navigating the fringe (and what to stay away from !) and I’ll definitely be back before I go! Can’t recommend enough, if you can’t get a seat just grab takeaway.

First time ordering from here and very happy with the whole experience. A personal note from them plus cutlery, condiments and cleansing wipes were a nice touch as well as the two sweeties! Will definitely order again!

Dine Thyme is a staple amongst the community, I have been a regular for the past year or so always ordering the "Full Works” the ingredients being fresh and super tasty, great portion to boot. Customer service is second to none, always greeted with a smile and a chat. I will continue to order for many years to come and if you are reading this don't hesitate to pop in and give them a try you won't regret it 😁😋

Fantastic traditional food, soups are super tasty, bacon sandwiches are a dream, pure Scottish fare all cooked to order. The place is also super nice, 2 tables outside. Service is professional and really friendly, staff very knowledgeable about the city and very helpful with tourists. A real Edinburgh place! I have become a regular every time I’m in Edinburgh.

With 5/5 stars I had high hopes. We got the breakfast, everything was over done - like it had been kept in a hot hold for hours, except the potato scone which was under.

Well, I have been going to Dine thyme for years now. Scott the owner of this sweet little shop is a real delight. Every time I go in there he always greets you with his electric smile. No matter how early I’m there in morning he’s ready to roll out with your delicious breakfast rolls. It really is an asset to the local community in the area, and I know others whom have busy life’s, who are rushing around trying to get things done before they start work. So to just be able to pop in pick up some tasty for your breakfast or lunch on your way in to work. Really does saves time. I would be lost without dear dine thyme. I love the small independent shops and their vibes. Highly recommend

Everything is good, no long waiting

I was on Holiday in Edinburgh and found this gem...Dine Thyme is the BEST place for breakfast or just a snack.....very yummy food that is very fresh at prices so reasonable you will want to go back again and again......you can even have it delivered by UBER EATS and others if you wish....Scott is so friendly and makes you feel at home.....this is the BEST deal in town...

Ordered the night before for delivery between 9 and 9.30; two cooked breakfasts with apple juice and orange juice with cutlery for delivery by Deliveroo. All was as expected of a cooked breakfast that had travelled a couple of miles. Surprisingly it was still hot and very tasty, greaaaaat sausage and extra bacon ;-) We were also surprised with the added touches of extra ketchup, salt, pepper, hand wipes and of course the two packets of Haribo that we received. The delivery was exactly on time by the lovely Tomasz. If you see this I'm sorry you didn't get a tip. We had no cash on us and being a Deliveroo virgin I couldn't work the app out properly, between that and my banking app it was all lost in the cloud somewhere. Thank you

Excellent breakfast rolls! One small ask please can you add mushrooms to the options for roles? The fried egg and tattie scone was excellent but would've been even better with mushrooms!

I love this place. The food is always excellent and it is always piping hot when it arrives. I ordered a can of juice but unfortunately they had just ran out of that flavour but they more than made up for it which I was so very grateful for. Excellent customer service and I am always a very happy customer when I order from here. Highly recommend 👌🏼😁

Good coffee,great bacon and sausage roll,I'm not one to eat breakfast,but this was very good ,I also learned something.... Dreich ...been here in Scotland over a year and not heard till now ... every day is a learning day :)

Dropped in while walking down Leith Walk as it looked very inviting with beautiful hanging baskets outside. Coffee was delicious. It was very busy with people coming in for light lunches and delivery services for take away. It’s clearly a very popular place and the menu looked really good value. Sat outside with my coffee and chatted with the very friendly owner. Will definitely be back and would recommend.

Dropped in to Dine Thyme for a quick mocha but ended up talking to the owner for ages. He’s so knowledgeable about Edinburgh and best places to eat. Cafe is lovely with beautiful hanging baskets outside that are very well taken care of. Sat outside at a street table and noticed how busy it was with locals and deliveries so it’s very popular! Would definitely recommend and looking forward to dropping in again for a sandwich.

Im generally rather selective over the reviews i bother giving, but after popping by Dine Thyme, I had to. It would be 5 stars for the service alone, but add to that the food...well I couldn't of been happier. Its places like this that really show what large chain establishments are missing. Next time I'm in town I'll definitely be stopping by. Five stars all the way!!!

I visited this place on my trip to Edinburgh recently, a great independent cafe. The service was gamazing I Had a breakfast roll and a coffee while sitting outside enjoying the weather while we have it. The flowers outside gives it a unique charm

A lovely independent cafe! Yummy, freshly prepared, good quality food. Great value, with friendly and professional service. Dine Thyme is also in a great spot - just a few minutes’ walk from Waverley station, set back from the main road in an almost traffic-free area. I enjoyed my breakfast outside and would definitely go back on my next trip to Edinburgh.

Just walk at I needed after a 26 mile walk the day before

Low quality ingredients prepared poorly. Overcooked, tough, most went in the bin. Rude delivery dude, didn't even look at me, was already walking away with his arm outstretched, let go as soon as I put my hand on the bag. (Answered the door promptly, he wasn't kept waiting.) Unfortunately, a really poor experience, I won't order from here again.

Bacon overdone and had black bits of burnt food from the hot plate stuck to it

Perhaps the worst soup I’ve ever tasted - seriously no self respecting cafe should ever be serving soup out a packet or tin. I ordered the chicken and the country vegetable and both were inedible.

Very disappointed in our breakfast. Both rolls had the eggs under cooked. Serving us with the white part of the egg still under cooked. Slimy white is never what we want. To have it in BOTH rolls says that’s how you serve them. Also charged a £1 for a tiny child sized carton of juice. I highly suggest not using this cafe.I paid for a breakfast to be delivered that was inedible. 😔

Every order from Dine Thyme makes our day! There’s something for everyone on the menu. It’s a family event! Personally, I can’t get enough of the jacket potato’s. Our son loves the bacon roll — he says it’s the best one he’s had. Honestly, I’d order from Dine Thyme every day if I could. Thank you!

We love the haggis! The price is incredibly reasonable for the quality of the food and service. Our only criticism is that we wish the link sausages matched the quality of the haggis.

The driver was completely incompetent. He asked me to stand outside and told me I was lying when I told him I was outside, which I was. He wouldn't listen to advice and I stood outside for 15 minutes without taking simple instruction.

Food was late and freezing cold when it arrived and I honestly do not know how you can screw-up a tattie scone but use did it was all disgusting
