Dimitri's in Manchester

Led outside in February for a table of 5 and although a covered courtyard it was cold as the wind was hustling through the rafters. Some lovely warming burners to keep you warm, or so we thought until another customer decided to move it (quite rightly) toward him and his date. After requesting another heater for our table and being denied the other customer went inside. Waitress with a face like a spanked a’hoop thought it as necessary to move the burner closer to prove a point. Loved it, warmest I had been since I had arrived. Food was mediocre and the main meal option was shortcoming for a good meal. Yep, all 5 went to tescos up the road for a better quality and to ease the gaping hole left in our stomachs after this experience. Me and my colleagues have been in Manchester for 3 weeks and this is by far the worst meal and experience we have had. Give it a miss! Lovely setting, shame about the staff, food and attitude.

We're in the basement, food arrived too fast,it wasn't believable and really wasn't the quality expected bland, and only warm. (1st Feb) nothing to complain about but just not the standard this place normally gives

Visiting family who chose Dimitri's. Really good food. My tip is to order the food in stages to share like mezze rather than all at once. Take your time over lots of courses. Absolutely loved the aubergine 'dip' with pitta bread and wished we had had 2 portions, the butter bean dish was fabulous and seabass was lovely. The greek coffee was terrific and the greek dessert platter to share sweet and a delicious way to finish. Would not have the belly pork again, it was very well cooked but was basically thick sliced bacon. My wife loved the Bramble cocktail which oozed raspberry. Only improvement was that it was chilly and to whack up the heating indoors and bit. Total bill for 3 inc 3 drinks 3 coffees and lots of food and service was £120. Would definitely go back.

Been here many times but last night very dissapointing we had starters but 3 of us just wanted mezzo mains which came as 1 small skewer of 5 small chicken pieces with Tsaksiki and a couple of pieces of lettuce for £9.00 very very dissapointing I had the pork and was the same except as tuff as old boots

Overall this was a disappointing experience compared to the reputation and for the price. Service was just ok - we didn't have one person looking after us but about 5 different people and only one or two were attentive. Had to wait to order, then wait for the bill. Two things I'd been excited about ordering weren't available but were still on the menu. The quality of the food was quite average compared to expectations from reviews. Falafel was awful - barely cooked, green mush. Greek salad was small and not like any Greek salad I had in Greece. One of our party was vegan and made that clear, but the salad came with small pieces of cheese in it where it must have been added in the kitchen then removed and this isn't really acceptable to a lot of vegans. We ordered 5 or 6 things, the meatballs were great, it was good quality feta cheese, but everything else was ok or disappointing. Nothing here worth returning for, and avoid if vegan.

Dmitry's restaurant is definitely worth a visit! We ordered a variety of meze with the family, and every dish was uniquely delicious. The flavours were so incredible that we didn’t even have time to take any photos. The service was top-notch – 10 out of 10 – quick, professional, and attentive. A special thanks to the chefs on duty for an unforgettable culinary experience. Highly recommend it to everyone!

We had the fish platter, lots of great food. For two it was £77, including a drink each and a dessert. Would go back!

The welcome was a little lacking in warmth, but the waiters were friendly & attentive. We had dinner pre-show & it was very busy. Food service was quick, though, so no problem.

Visited Dimitris last night while staying in Manchester, thought we’d see what it was like as we love Greece and Greek food. Safe to say we were blown away. We ordered a couple of starters and the Meaty sharing platter. The quality, flavours and freshness of the food were absolutely incredible! The restaurant itself is beautifully done out, and made us feel like we were back in Greece. It’s safe to say it was the nicest meal out we’ve ever ever had. Staff were so friendly, particularly the waiter who talked to us about Greece and where we’ve visited etc, sadly didn’t catch his name. We will 100% be back when we’re next in Manchester!!🥰🤍

Lovely restaurant with great food but my biggest pet hate at restaurants is the food coming out within minutes of ordering. It makes you feel rushed as a customer. It seemed a bit odd that all 8 plates we ordered came out within 5 minutes of placing our order, we had barely sipped our wine. I’m all for a speedy service but this was just too quick and we wanted some time to enjoy our wine and have the excitement of knowing our food was coming soon! Unfortunately this has made me reluctant to return.

Didn’t like it here at all, the food came out within minutes of us ordering - which in most cases would be great - however we ordered quite a lot of small plates for us both to share and for them to be out within minutes was strange, the chicken tasted like it had been microwaved if you know the taste I mean, the portions for the small plates were tiny for the price, should’ve probably just got a main. Staff were nice, the outside area was cosy but wouldn’t come back in a rush

Very nice atmosphere with touches of mediterranean decor. The food is hearty and tasty and the folks there very attentive and kind.

Normally my favourite place to eat in Manchester, the Gambas Chilli is always a must but for some reason this time around I was served with a plate of cheap prawns with barely any sauce and a completely different taste to the usual, the service again is usually spot on but the waiter we had was barely interested in taking our order or clearing the plates afterwards to ask us if we wanted desert which we did but after waiting at least 10 minutes with our dirty plates still on the table, we ending up having to ask him for the bill and going somewhere else afterward - this was a Sunday and was not busy otherwise we would have understood

Me and my better half went to dimitri's while we are staying in Manchester while receiving treatment at the Christie. The team at the Christie recommended Dimitri's and with a babysitter sorted we went! The food was fantastic and atmosphere was perfect, but we simply ordered too much. If you have a big appetite get dips to start with and 3 mezes each. If not I'd recommend 2 each. The team were caring and kind and even got us to our table early. The timing and service of our food clearly indicates a well run kitchen. My favourite was the sea brass. My better half was the chilli prawns.

Wow! What beautiful and tasty food. Lovely surroundings and friendly and efficient staff. Reasonably priced as well. No wonder it was packed and it is advisable to book a table in advance. There was also live music. Highly recommended.

I hadn’t been here for years before this visit but I was pleased to find the same good service and fresh-tasting food of previous visits. Everything was flavourful and rich, and I have always been a bit overwhelmed by the number of choices on the menu. We ordered the patatas bravas aioli (okay, not exactly authentic Greek fare but delicious nonetheless), seabass, chicken skara, grilled halloumi, and vegetable tagine. There were clean plates all round for a delicious lunch. The prices could be lowered a little, but overall, this was a really nice dining experience.

We had a course of a variety of meze and tapas dishes, each of which was fantastic. Service was excellent. It wasn't cheap, but we ate a lot and it wasn't hideously expensive. Will definitely coming back!

We were celebrating my husband’s birthday there yesterday and we had such a great time. I never even knew they have a separate area downstairs that shells you from the people that come just for the drinks. The food was amazing and our waiter went an extra mile! I can’t remember his name but it was a tall guy with a big beard ! Thank you so much for taking such a good care of our table and thanks to your chefs too! We will definitely come back.

A Manchester institution that I somehow hadn't managed to try until this point. Quite extensive menu and very good vibes in the evening but popped in for lunch. Wrong orders being delivered didn't help but the staff sorted this efficiently and even offered a dessert as an apology. That kind of customer service will keep you coming back but wouldn't say the food was particularly outstanding, just good.

The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was well prepared and arrived quickly and hot. When the kitchen was getting ready to close, our table was asked if we wanted any more food before they did. A cosy place for a delicious Greek meal.

Fabulous selection of truly authentic Greek food, altho today my husband's sheekh kebab came with far too many chips...my pilaf however was divine.....only one Greek red, Cava Boutari, beautiful but pricey at £13 a glass.....won't stop us...we'll definitely be back...

Amazing atmosphere and venue, food ordered was good, portions are not great. However, waiter/waitresses seemed preoccupied and did not check up much despite a non busy enviorment. One waitress also had a bit of an attitude. The restroom unfortunately had a displeasing smell as well as though it was not cleaned frequently.

Fantastic atmosphere and amazing food. Have allergies, no worries Dimitri's have a huge amount of options to choose from. We had pork and gluten free to deal with but everyone was given something and was really well fed. Definitely worth recommending

We’ve been to Dimitri’s as a family of 5 on two occasions for lunch before the theatre. The welcome and the food both times have been brilliant. We’ve had a selection of food from their tapas and meze menu, and we love it. Our children all like different things, so tapas is perfect, and each dish is generous portion. Highly recommended and we will go again.

Been here many times over the years and this was disappointing. Ordered tapas and everything was delicious apart from the stifado which was very dry. Told the waiter and he said he’d tell the kitchen staff. The bill arrived and they had the cheek to stick a service charge on there. Eventually got the stifado removed. What was disappointing was the attitude of the staff. They didn’t care that there was a problem. Really not interested. I dont like leaving negative reviews. I always try and resolve issues at the table. I met Dimitri through work several years ago and he was a lovely fella. But unfortunately we won’t be back. It’s gone down hill and the staff simply don’t care anymore. Shame. Real shame.

Birthday treat. Service was wonderful. Our first time but we were treated as welcomed regulars. Lovely atmosphere and decor. Ordered eight meze between three of us and portions were just right. Favourite was Gambas Chilli Prawns. Ordered - lamb chops (3 in a meze portion), chicken souvlaki, pastourma and sucuk beef sausages, Greek salad, mousaka, garlic mushrooms and patatas bravas. Great value for money and speedy service. We'll be back.

Loved my first time at Dimitris. Lovey Greek food, generous portions and such friendly helpful staff. We had lots of different dishes. My favourites were the fried halloumi and tiropita. Can't wait to come back and try the moussaka!

Tasty home cooked bar food, a lovely environment, and great customer service! Dimitri's is a great spot for an evening out. The food is tasty but fairly expensive for the quality - it cost us around £60 for two mains and two drinks, and we purposefully chose cheaper options. It was altogether a really nice night, and both my partner and I enjoyed what we ordered. I ordered the pork chops with patatas bravas, which came with some dill pickled cabbage and some red onion chutney - these just seemed like your average shop bought condiments but the pork chops were cooked really well and the patatas were super tasty. 4* Food quality 5* environment and staff

Love this place. Great Greek food, and the atmosphere is nice too. Can't fault the service or value for money. It's also a good location, not far from the Hilton hotel, Albert Hall, and several good pubs, such as The Deansgate.

We went for the first time yesterday. We ordered too much food, but what we had was lovely. Probably what we ordered, but one or two dishes were slightly too salty altogether. Pilaf rice was perfect! The staff were really friendly, efficient and worked hard - a really impressive service.

I don’t think I’ve ever left dimitris a review and I’ve been coming for over a decade. Came for a quick birthday treat last night with partner and 5 year old son. We are all vegetarian. Think of it like an old friend. The food is reliably good quality, the atmosphere always relaxed and the service always top notch. Remember it fondly for having intense garlic mushroom cravings early in my pregnancy back in 2018 and it delivering 😂 Keep going strong Dimitris, you’re a Manchester institution!

Decent portion sizes, quality food and good price. Service was average. Atmosphere was strange, we were sat downstairs and a couple of tables were super noisy not the restaurants fault but wasn't quite the romantic meal we thought it would be

We met up with some old friends here for a midweek long, lazy and (let's be honest) slightly boozy lunch, and the restaurant was perfect for us. It was a nice relaxing atmosphere. The staff were very friendly, and the food & drinks were excellent. It just has a nice feel about the place. Lots of lovely vegetarian options on the menu too. If you're in a wheelchair, the restaurant has very easy access and a disabled toilet. Looking forward to the next visit!

We have visited dimitris several times since we first moved to Manchester, taking every opportunity to share this Greek gem with our friends and family. We are never disappointed with the quality of the food or service. Do ensure that you book well in advance. Unsurprisingly, this place is very popular!
