Service was prompt if a little impersonable. Food was just average, microwaved Pasta and sauce. Could see people liking it but not for me. Be aware that there is a dicretionay 10% charge... they do not point it out to you and do not mention it on the menu. It was however reasonably pricex

We don't know Glasgow so we were just here by chance. I ordered prawn cocktail and spag Bol, my husband nachos and a chicken pizza. It far exceeded any other Italian restaurant I'd been to before. The food was very good, fresh and portions large. I wouldn't listen to bad reviews as I had a great meal.

I never eat food somewhere once and if it's not the best, write an awful review. I like to try somewhere around 3 times to give them the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately, the food had been awful on all 3 occasions. I have friends who LOVE DiMaggio's, so I'm not sure if it's just the Shawlands one in particular. I got a 12 inch pizzas which seemed to have a cook from frozen base. I'd suggest you go to Cafe Buongiorno or Bella Napoli if you're after Italian in Shawlands.

Terrible quality. Pizza was burnt & the macaroni cheese sauce was the most horrible thing, very thin and runny. The macaroni was not macaroni and made with an alternative pasta. This is not what you expect for the price paid. Never again.

I have always found the staff very good always there to help with a good input regards the menu which we find has a excellent selection to choose from on this occasion we had chicken with veg and roast potatoes just simple tasty food but the sauce was fantastic followed with too much ice cream. A bottle of wine and coffee to finish it off it was an enjoyable meal and we shall certainly return again.

Visited the Royal Exchange Square restaurant recently as a group of five and am surprised at some of the poor reviews the restaurant has been receiving recently. We had five starters ( one soup, two chicken, one goats cheese and one half pasta ), five mains ( one pizza, one salmon and three pasta dishes ) and three desserts and everything was well cooked and presented by pleasant and efficient staff. A bonus was that the bill for this along with a pint of beer, half a dozen soft drinks and one coffee came to £113 which I thought was extremely good value. We have been coming here on and off for a number of years and never had any cause for complaint. ,

Have been going to DiMaggio's for a good few years but I will never be back. The service we received was terrible. Worlds apart from the other one up from the Cineworld. Waiter very arrogant and could not have seemed less interested in us. After receiving the wrong drink and politely asking for it to be changed we received nothing but angry stares from other staff - our waiter had obviously went round and told all of them that we had been rude to him, which is the only thing that would account for this weird response. Two waiters actually stood and whispered about us a few tables away and smirked while we were served our food. Made us very conscious that something had been done to it while in kitchen. When leaving another waitress actually sneered at us in a very aggressive manner. I eat out a good amount in Glasgow and I would consider myself a very polite person. I have never felt more uncomfortable as a customer in my life. Save yourself the trip and go to the other one - only a 5 minute walk away.

Excuse my abruptly worded title but if dimaggios can't be bothered making quality food then why should I bother being verbose with my review?Anyway, let's start with the starters.Mozzarella cubes were okay but not exactly good enough I'd have them again. The rocket and gran padero salad... dry, unexciting and the padero tasted like it had been pre-grated and left lying out. Really wasn't pleasant. The main course consisted of pizza and chorizo pasta. Pizza was actually good and hence why I couldn't give you just one star. However, the pasta was over peppered and oily tasting. The cheesecake desert was lacking icing sugar. It tasted like cream cheese with no sweetness at all, which didn't go well with the raspberry. You need sugar in there somewhere to make that work. The Base of this cheesecake was the end for me. It tasted old and it was rock solid. I threw it in the bin and never had another bite. This review is unfortunate as I actually like dimaggios. My fiancé and I used to eat here all the time, when we first moved to the southside. However, I won't be eating here again and I say this with deep sorrow.Thank you for reading!

I knew that I would get free parking in Carlton Place after 6pm, so I left the car there. I walked over Glasgow bridge, but I only had basic instructions on how to get there. I got a bit lost, but the people, who I asked, helped me a lot. I arrived about 45 minutes too early. The woman told me, I could either sit at one of their tables opposite their building or go upstairs to wait. I chose to wait outside and sit on one of the benches. Later, I sat on one of the bollards, which were near the entrance. The same woman, who was extremely busy, then came up to me to say some of my friends had arrived. I walked in and they were waiting near the entrance. After about ten minutes or so, we were allowed to go to our tables which were in the basement. I sat a table of ten, which were two tables put together. One of my friends paid for three bottles of wine, one white, one rose and the other red. I had a glass of red. Each table got a jug of water, though it did take some time before my table got it. I ordered a prawn cocktail, as a starter, then a vegetarian pizza. Though my table ordered their meals third in line, we were the last ones to get them. The prawn cocktail was okay, but the pizza didn't really taste of anything. It just had a lot of cheese, which looked like it had virtually vanished, and whole black olives. I was offered a dessert, but I was too full up. The person next to me ordered a strawberry cheesecake After it had arrived, he couldn't quite finish it. I dipped my finger into it and had a taste. It didn't taste like one. Though it did have the biscuit bottom of one, the top just tasted of cream cheese. It looked like it had been dyed a pinky red to make it look like a strawberry cheesecake. I was charged £18 for my two courses, but I believe it should have been less than that because of the pizza. I can recommend the red wine.

For starters I had bruchetta which i love this was delicious as usual, for mains my husband and friend had a spicy pizza which when they were eating said it wasn't spicy but instead it was soggy. They told they waitress as my friend didn't finish his. She gave them some free drinks. Desserts I had my favourite sticky toffee pudding but I found this to be very sweet so much so that I couldn't finish it. Drinks the men had peroni and us ladies had pitchers of strawberry daiquiris they tasted delicious but after 3 pitchers one of my friends said I don't thinks there's much if any alcohol in them. Best to book if you want a table. As the restaurant was full we felt that we had made the correct decision. We then had to wait for a waiter to eventually take our order at which point we asked if we could order drinks. Our drinks were regular sized although we asked for large drinks. Starter was nice but then we had to wait a while for our plates to be removed. Main courses of calzone and ribs were produced for our expectant taste buds. Calzone was a hit but the ribs were a miss. Too much fat covered by sauce doesn't work. Wife noted that I didn't clear the plate which is unusual. Further wait ensued while we thought of a dessert. Ice cream was eventually ordered and then we sat waiting for anyone to ask if we wished for anything else. At the point of putting our coats o we asked for the bill. Duly provided and paid. Never asked if we had enjoyed our stay and we felt happy to leave. Such a disappointment.

My partner and I visited Dimaggios on 29th December and it was mobbed! We were a bit hesitant at first about staying until the very friendly hostess assured us the wait would only be 10-15 minutes, even although the queue seemed huge. We noticed that the hostess was dealing with a difficult customer, however despite the customer's rude comments the girl was calm and level headed which was refreshing to see, particularly at such a busy time of the year! The staff were very efficient at working as a team to reduce the queue and the wait was just over 10 minutes which was perfect! After we were seated I commented to my partner on the fact that the service may be slow as the restaurant was full but I was very wrong! We were offered and then served our drinks straight away and there were no hesitations to take our food order. Our server was really friendly as were the various other members of staff that passed by to clear empty bottles, and serve our food etc. There was no delay in the food preparation either considering the kitchen must have been busy, so the kitchen staff must be on top of things.I ordered the roast chicken rigatoni and my partner ordered the calzone di maggio. We both really enjoyed our meals. I particularly enjoyed the rigatoni as it was proper good quality Italian food that you would expect but quite often don't get from other Italian establishments. I've been going to Di maggios for years now as my grandpa used to take me there when I was a little girl and it was my favourite restaurant ever since then. This will not change as I have not once had a bad experience and the atmosphere is always fantastic. As a former waitress (not in Di maggios) it was lovely to see the staff all working as a team and the kitchen doing so well at speedy yet high quality service. Well done to you all for your work over the busy Christmas period!

My friend and I visited the restaurant a few days ago, so my parter and I decided to go back as it was busy and I said our service was fast when we went!! I hadn't been in a while before then but when we went it was all quite disappointing. We ordered nachos to start to share that were nice but there was absolutely zero effort made in the presentation - now I get nachos are nachos but still there's a good way and a "don't really care" way to present them. Long story short, they went soggy very quickly after arriving at our table. We waited about 25 mins after order to receive our starter though which was a shame as we waited only 10 the 2 days precious when I went with my friend. We waited another 20 mins on our main but the staff were very attentive on topping up drinks and they were pleasant despite it being so busy - although you still couldn't help but feel the conveyer belt theme of the way customers were being treated! Our mains came (I ordered spaghetti carbonara and my partner ordered Cajan chicken pizza and chips) both his pizza and my sauce were very oily (see pics of mine especially) which was a little off putting so I scraped most of the sauce off. When the waited collected our plates when we were done I mentioned this to him. He was quite abrupt to say this is always the way it is it's supposed to be oily yes. He was Italian and I did wonder if there was a language barrier but I was a bit disappointed in this as he could clearly see that I was a little disheartened by this and my bowl was not empty, although he chose not to ask? My partner was drinking and I couldn't help but feel the waiters were looking at us to finish to clear the table and get another couple seated but he took his time to finish. On asking for the bill we asked to pay by card. The same Italian man served us and when we asked if they took AMEX he said "yes you can leave a tip it's on the machine just follow the instructions please" haha we were so embarrassed we just didn't say anything and just put the card in and paid. I didn't take offence to this but I could imagine after 2 language barriers with us, it's not the first time. My advice would be to listen to your customers and notice when they are not too happy.

While purporting to be an Italian restaurant, DiMaggio's (apparently a UK chain) in glasgow's theatre district also offers hamburgers, sausages, fish, BBQ, and many other non-Italian dishes. My son and I met a friend and her daughter for lunch. It wouldn't have been my choice but wow! I was pleasantly surprised. We had the sharing appetiser to get us started. That was nice! I had the mussels - I couldn't eat them all. The boy had the kids pizza and it was delicious. Best pizza I've tasted in ages. Next time sod the calories, I'm having the pizza!!

We chanced our luck and scored without a reservation on the way home from a long day's festive shopping spree. The food was fabulous and would recommend the spaghetti on the rocks(seafood) as it really was beautifully cooked.Service was great and we felt well looked after even though we were squeezed in to the busy restaurant. Will be back soon!

Me and my girlfriend have been here on numerous occasions. Either if it's been for a night out, dinner date or a casual lunch after a day at the nearby park or shopping... No matter what time of day it is, or how you dress, or how you feel. This place will surely make you feel welcome and comfortable - mostly due to the staff. The staff are very friendly by giving you a very warm greeting. They quickly will get you seated with no delays what so ever. (One time me and my partner were next to the toilet door tables... But quickly noticed a table right at the window. The waiter quickly cleaned the table due to previous customers that just left and gave the table to my partner and I within minutes). Will quickly take your drink order right away with no long delays in receiving your drinks, along by kindly giving you a couple of minutes to decide on your choice of foods from their Italian cuisine (beautiful food). No long delays for food either...All foods and drinks are well presented and taste great! Staff are always attentive by making sure you are enjoying your food, asking for drink top ups, and so on.. Very caring - some may even have brief shirt conversations with you. I assume the girl who served us a few times was a manager or some sort.. She does wear a white shirt with black small butterflies over it. I'm sorry I'm bad with names. But you have been great every time we have popped by...So overall, the place is beautiful, warm and comfortable. The staff are kind, friendly, warm, thoughtful, passionate, caring, knowledgeable and caring. The food and drinks have never failed me yet... So you can see why my partner and I never hesitate to leave a good tip behind. We will be back many times for the future and recommend this place to anyone who hasn't tried DiMaggio's in this location. Thanks for many great experiences..

a group of us were weary battling wind and rain and shops but the staff in here were welcoming despite our soaking coats and many bags!! we all had coffee and cake and were much revived, in fact so impressed we returned the following evening for dinner which was served with the same charm. Nothing was too much trouble and although busy we were never rushed. I would heartily recommend the restaurant. The selection of food was fab and prices are very reasonable. the food itself was perfect.

Have eaten in several of these chains .didn't really like royal exchange. Food was good as it is in all of them. Its the atmosphere that got to me. It's like a narrow corridor packed with tables. It's very claustrophobic and noisy and not conducive to a positive eating experience. There are Better options locally that i will explore rather than return to that Restaurant

We found DiMaggio's by accident following a long day's train travel into Glasgow. We were really hungry, and hoping to find something great to eat. We weren't disappointed. The dish of olives to start were among the best I've ever tasted, and the pizza was top notch. Staff were lovely, service was quick and efficient.

We called in to get a snack lunch, but in all honesty it was very disappointing. The place had a smell of fried food, and the table that we seated at needed a good wipe.

My partner and I visited the ruthven lane restaurant and prebooked the big deal menu which is 3 courses for £10 each. Staff were lovely although there wasn't much direction when it came to the ice cream that comes as the desert course and so we felt embarrassed to ask for it. Once we got the bill the girl realised what deal we had and so then asked whether we wanted the ice cream and coffee that came as part of the deal. We weren't to fussed to be honest so passed. The meal itself was great. I had the nachos to start. Lovely, fresh and spicy. My partner had the potato skins. We then ordered fusilli espanola and the chicken devil pizza. We halved and shared . I enjoyed the pizza more than the pasta. My partner loved the pasta. All very fresh though. The restaurant itself was very nice and clean inside.I'd defo go back!

From the moment we walked in the staff seemed totally uninterested in us. It was the first time my husband and I had attended. Food really basic and overpriced, I asked for my salmon pasta to be given a bit of spice and instead of chilli I got chicken! I don't eat chicken then got the bill with chicken as an additional dish then charged a £1 for the chilli. The lady serving us agreed that we had received poor service but did not know what to do to make it up to us. Average food, will not be back

Been to Dimaggio's in city centre on numerous occasions and have never been disappointed. It was the middle of the commonwealth games, so we decided to try shawlands location as it would be slightly quieter than centre of glasgow. We weren't disappointed, the service and food were great. The staff were friendly and attentive and the food was just right.

I have been eating in DiMaggio's in Royal Exchange square for 20 years. I love the atmosphere and the food. My 5yr old daughter loves it too because she can get proper food, she hates fast food, and the staff treat her like a grown up. The only thing I miss is the bar downstairs where you could go and relax while waiting on a table. Highly recommend.

Hi been going to DiMaggio in Hamilton for 15 years with family of three kids two adults and always a bit pricy for basic meal but kids like it. THIS TIME VERY COLD MEAL AND SERVICE REA LLY SLOW. Unfortunately a fortnight ago received the worst service ever! Service extremely slow as take away was given priority and countless take aways went by our table as we waited 50mins for starter with staff only approaching out table to ask for further drinks order. Red house wine awful. Starter was ying yang chicken garlic bread. Chicken was very cold and had to be sent back. Staff apologised and were very nice but service still extremely slow. Calzone pizza had less filling than normal with mostly veg ltd meat. Swiss cheeseburger and chips good, BBQ pepperoni pizza good, hawaii pizza average but really cold. We waited 40 mins or so and pizza had obviously been under hot plate. Also no steak/sharp knife therefore difficult to cut and again had to be returned to warm up. Again staff polite and supervisor apologised but took a while to get back. Different member of staff brought back pizza and sarcastic tone with"watch the plate it's hot enough now to take varnish off table so keep napkins under it" not a happy face! Will not be back unless special deal on. It's defo gone down hill and generally quiet these days so you have been warned.
