We managed to book on a busy Saturday evening for a group of 5, we were made very welcome and throughout the evening the staff were friendly and efficient. There is a wide choice of dishes available, some of which we had not seen before. All the food was enjoyed and the wine was at sensible prices, we would definitely revisit if in the area again.

Great Indian restaurant, we were in Wolverhampton for a gig and tried it for the first time as a walk-in- the first place we'd booked fell through. Luckily we ended up here as the food and service was superb. Me and a friend shared a mixed grill, accompanied with naan, rice and masala chips which was all delicious, well presented and the portions were good. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Very accommodating considering we hadn't booked and it was a busy Saturday evening. The restaurant is clean and comfortable. Easy to find, it's located in Wolverhampton city centre, close to major public transport stops. Great place to start your evening if you're having a night out or attending a show.

When we arrived it was a lovely greeting it was really friendly had our starter popadoms and sauce which was perfectly fine. When main meal arrived it looked lovely so first impression were really good however I’m a meat picker so I was picking the meat out of the curry sauce and gradually the more sauce I ate it got saltier & saltier I spoke to the waiter who apologised and took the plates away. I told them I didn’t want another one and asked for the bill to which they had taken off 10% . I told him that was not good enough as we couldn’t eat the curry but I would pay for everything else at which he started having a go at us he wouldn’t let us pay anything off the bill and declined any payment as he said when waiter came over and asked if everything was okay we had said yes but we hadn’t started eating the curry by then . Once we started eating we complained disgusted with the service and the staff trying to belittle us in front of other customers. I’m not normally a person to complain but the curry was awful.

Some friends ate there a friday night and thought it good enough to book for a large party (40 of us) for the next night. In retrospect this may not have been a good idea as they - rightly - split us up between tables, but perhaps felt compelled to have everyone served at the same time: even though we sat down at 8pm it was past 9:30 by the time our curries arrived - there seemed to be three waitstaff doing their level best to get everyone served, but I'd have thought given the number booked they may have had the foresight to rope more staff in. Poppadums and pickle tray was our only starter. I enjoyed the red chilli and lime drizzle, had a random kick plus sour tang so quite enjoyable - we kept some back for the main course. Others enjoyed their mango chutney, which was smooth but not too sweet and had a bit of a background kick. For my main, I opted for the Chicken Madras, which wasn't bad... but amounted to slightly hardened lumps of chicken in a sauce, as though they'd been dropped in as an afterthought but not really absorbed any flavour. The heat of the sauce itself was impressively well-balanced - it began subtle then grew in intensity but remained at a nice level of burn; my only criticism was that I expected some citrus bitterness in the background, and would have liked something else to break up the sauce (peppers, onions, etc) A colleague remarked his Naga wasn't hugely hot, and someone else's Vindaloo tasted hotter... but flavour-wise, they hit the spot. Beer was somewhat disappointing: there was only Kingfisher on draft, and it tasted slightly diluted. Cobra was available but only in small bottles; after a whilst I found I wasn't really enjoying the beers. I'll probably return, but with a smaller crowd next time.

The whole meal was amazing, the staff were so attentive and even rounded off the evening with an impromptu surprise for my wife. Until we arrived, they had no idea it was a special occasion and they really deserve all the praise I can give. A really lovely dining experience. Closed at midnight but still made time for us and didn't rush us despite only finding this little gem at 11.25pm. Staff were absolutely lovely, super polite and accommodating. The tables were set up lovely and everything we were served was well presented and delicious, slightly lacking in flavour but not awful and greasy like other places. Freshly cooked and generous portions. After our meal the staff gave us warmed wipes and didn't gripe that I had been a little clumsy on their fresh linen cloths. The bathrooms really could do with being refurbished, but this was not a reflection on the staff or the food at all.

Incredibly average overall; while the service during out sit in meal was very good and not overbearing, the food was the letdown. Some good attributes while still not being all that great. There was plenty of flavour in the dishes and the breads and rice were cooked perfectly, there was an overwhelming taste of salt through the curries. It spoils the experience massively. Had it not been for this a higher rating would have been offered.

This was my first time eating here but the rest of my party had eaten here several times before. We were seated at 5:30, the time we had booked. I have food allergies and intolerances and they do show some consideration to that here. Whilst there isn't an allergen menu, there are symbols marked by some of the dishes denoting the main allergens. I had a few questions regarding menu items. The waiter answered one of my questions and then fetched the manager, who was better able to help me. There were 13 of us and the restaurant wasn't busy when we arrived. It took around 50 mins for our food to arrive from the point of ordering it! During that time, two members of my party had had to go and find out where the food was. Our food arrived at 6:45, giving us only 20 mins to eat it - most of us less than that, as we had to be elsewhere. We all had to rush our dinner and couldn't enjoy it at all. It was too hot to eat quickly and as a result some of it got wasted as we had to leave. I had to leave most of mine. The food was of a high quality and was delicious (what I had of it anyway) but the slow service was ridiculous!

The service was very slow and we had asked several times if our meals were ready as we had to leave for the theatre. The meals eventually came and to my disgust I found a fly in the saag paneer side order. Unfortunately we had already paid for our meal as I asked for the bill whilst we still eating in order to be able to leave promptly after completing our meal to get to the theatre. When I pointed out the fly to the waiters they immediately apologised and asked which dish this had come from. I asked for a refund to which they agreed. After collecting my bag from my seat and returning to the till, I was presented with a £5 note which was basically the tip we had left!!! Did not have time to argue with the staff as we would have missed our show but I would never eat there again.

There were 9 of us here to eat yesterday evening. Firstly the staff never cleared the menus for ages or the empty bottles. This was after the waiter got the drinks order wrong, which was inevitable given he didn't write anything down. I asked for a chicken korma and specified it had to have no spice in it. I have bad reaction to spices. The waiter said a korma has no spice anyway. When it got delivered it burnt my mouth so much. My lips and throat wouldn't stop burning. I recently dined at this restaurant, and it was an unforgettable experience. The menu had a delightful array of dishes, and I must say, the "Dilshad Special Biryani" from the biryani section was a standout. The flavors were exquisite, and the tender, perfectly spiced chicken made it a dish to remember. Additionally, I tried the "Chicken Curry" from the traditional dishes section, and it was simply delicious. The rich, aromatic sauce paired with tender chicken pieces was a true delight for my taste buds. To complement these amazing dishes, I couldn't resist ordering the "Naan Bread," which was warm, soft, and served with a side of fresh, flavorful dips. Dilshad Indian Restaurant truly lived up to its name, offering an exceptional dining experience. The flavors, service, and ambiance make it a must-visit for anyone looking to savor authentic Indian cuisine.

On arrival the restaurant looked dated and looked like it was still being renovated mid service, the staff were friendly and polite, the food is where it really let itself down, the starter was okay, the shik kebab was full of flavor, the chicken coronation wrap wasn't very tasty. When it comes to the mains that looked really good and looked like they would be full of flavors and spices, unfortunately this isn't the case I would have said it tasted very bland, the balti didn't contain much chicken and it definitely didn't have any sort of spice to it, the dilshad special looked great and smelt good, but yet again the taste just wasn't there. I would try this place again to see if it was just a bad day. I would recommend this place but I would ask for tasters or try a few different dishes in small quantities.

Worst place in the world. I ordered my food at 6pm it got to 7.30pm I call up to ask where it is and the man on the phone tells me a manager will call me back in 5 mins and puts the phone down. I then try to call back 20 times and keep getting cut off. On the last attempt to call someone says it’s on its way and won’t be long. It gets to 8pm (40 mins after he said ot was on its way) to still not have received my order. May I add the Restaurant is 12 minutes drive from my house. I then decided to go the the restaurant to ask where my order is and get my money back, the employee doesn’t seem to care, no apology or anything just hands the money baxk and says nothing. Disgusting customer service. The were 5 tables dining in there. I could u Understand the delay if it was busy as for the disgusting customer service there is no excuse. I now live in Lincolnshire but 9yrs ago I lived local to this restaurant & the food back then was amazing. We dined there & had takeouts regularly. However, visiting family we ordered via Just Eat on Saturday evening. How very DISAPPOINTING. Lamb chops were inedible, very overcooked. Garlic rice was greasy with no taste of garlic. North Indian Garlic chilli chicken had no taste of garlic. In fact all that could be tasted was very hot chilli. The masala chips were soggy, tasteless & stuck to the bag. The cheese & garlic naan bread just tasted plain. Now the fish pakora was the most disgusting thing I’ve ever tried. Soggy & extremely greasy batter containing very little fish. What fish it did contain was dripping with oil. Needless to say it was all inedible & so went in the bin. We would have phoned & complained but the restaurant had closed. This USED to be so good that they were always open late on a weekend. Never again will we order from here.

Shambles from the beginning. Tried to book a table it wasn't confirmed until 10 minutes before the booking was about to start. We had already made plans to go elsewhere but as this was closer we decided to turn up for this one at 10 minutes notice. On arrival the staff were all a bit bewildered and confused, it all seemed extremely odd. The place was outdated and in need of renovation. Its so cold there we had to eat in our coats. The waiter was miserable and wouldn't allow us to order starters and mains separately, he said I have to take the whole order now. When my food arrived it had several hairs (could have been any one of them, as is it was short black hairs) I decided to brave the loo and wasn't in anyway surprised at how awful it was. Partitions held together with tape. Electrical wires exposed, filthy toilets. Then came the bill. Over £100 for 3 chicken masala and some rice & bread plus hairs. Portions were small. So stingy with the rice. This place is pure daylight robbery. Clearly no profit goes into upkeep. Don't care about customers.

We had the absolute pleasure of dining at the Dilshad on Christmas day, the food was superb and the lads serving I think one was called Mohammed were utterly sensational and nothing was too much trouble for them! The ambiance in the restaurant was delightful and such amazing value for money! If you get the chance to visit this fantastic place I thoroughly recommend you do so! Well done the Dilshad!

My husband and I went to Dilshad after a long day at Alton towers to have some soul serving Indian food. After reading the reviews, we tried to walk into Dilshad, while they were booked entirely, the server - Mohammed was very kind to find us a cozy table for 2! Loved the service overall. The food was delicious and fresh. Would definitely recommend Dilshad to anyone who are visiting Wolverhampton soon or even passing by.

Had booked several days in advance for a group that were going to see a show at the Grand Theatre afterwards. When we arrived, the restaurant was full and we had to wait nearly 30 minutes to be taken to our table. Another 20 minutes passed, and no one had taken our order and then we found out from one of the staff that there would be at least hours wait for the meal. We therefore had to leave, or we would have missed the start of the show. The restaurant had clearly overbooked and didn't have enough staff to cope. The restaurant was also being besieged by drunk, foul mouthed football fans demanding to be fed, which made the whole experience even worse. This must happen all the time so they should know how to handle this. Sadly, this is not the first time we have had issues with this restaurant. The last time we pre-booked we also had to wait ages for the meal, but that time the restaurant nearly empty! Never again.

One of the Worst curry I have ever eaten. Not worth the money we paid for it. For the price a rip off for the samosas as well. Won't order from there again

We been going here for 30+ years all I can say is disappointing the food mediocre I would eat every last morsel in the past. Went to toilet it was like a night light couldn’t see if toilet was clean or not very disappointing not a patch on what it used to be. I’ll cook at home from now on 👎 one light in the darkness waiter ran down street to give me handbag I’d left. Many thanks

Ate at this newly discovered restaurant twice in fairly quick succession. Really lovely food, great staff and service, really enjoyed both visits and will be going there many more occasions. Really impressed how they adapted dishes to satisfy the grandchildren who were eating in an Indian restaurant for first time.

Restuarant was excellent and very popular a few years ago but has declined greatly in my opinion. Food tasted burnt as it did last time I visited will not make the same mistake again.

A pleasant welcome on arrival and given a choice of seating as this was a mid week early sitting. A good choice of drinks were on offer accompanied with poppadoms whilst we viewed the food menu. The menu had all the expected dishes and a good selection of house specials and baltis. We were given the option to order courses up front or as we go, the later being our option as you can tailor your main after your starter. All the food was excellent especially the fish dishes, complimented by my friends. We also ordered dishes off menu which the chef was happy to prepare. The evening was brilliant value for money and our waiter Mushi was both friendly and engaging in conversation. If you want Indian food in Wolverhampton this is the place to go.

I was visiting Wolverhampton for a graduation ceremony. I was here for two nights and came to Dilshad's both evenings! The food was excellent but the customer service was even better, specifically Wassy (sp?) who was really chatty and nice to talk to with my family. We are due back here next year so... See you then! Thank you!

Not sure if these guys have a new chef but if they do... keep him and pay him anything he wants. The best curry I've had in a decade. Absolutely full of flavour and just enough spice to provide a kick. Naan bread stayed soft throughout. Perfect

We really enjoyed our evening at Udays, the staff were friendly and attentive and the food was delicious. They had lots of vegan options, including ways to make some non vegan meals vegan so my husband had a lot more choice than he is used to. We will definitely be visiting again, and would consider visiting for a special occasion like a birthday because of how nice the food was and how lovely the staff.
