This was for the takeaway option . The restaurant was empty. On retuning home and looking at curries once opened the boxes were opened they were swimming in an oil slick and had to be well drained. And the portion sizes for the monies were very small containers and on stirring it’s contents each dish , we were able to count 4 small slices of chicken about the size of a small apple about 2/3cms thick. I phoned the curry house to complain about the size and amount of chicken for an order of 4 mains to the tune of £70 picked up ! Very poor value. All the man could say and was getting more agro , no apologies or any thing else . That they had been their 40 years ! And they had not heard that before ! Really poor service and for a take aways . you better hope no one else opens up in Usk or you will not be in business much longer ! I certainly won’t be back no apologies or reparation offered.

Had an average meal, nothing special, the naan bread was burnt on one side, the chicken shashlik was acceptable, had much better elsewhere at a cheaper cost. When I asked politely to remove the 10% service charge, I was met with hostility, the owner questioned me why, on which I answered it is discretionary and the service did not warrant the charge. His answer and attitude was to say I was not welcome again in his restaurant. Rest assured I will never return.

Had food on Saturday 6th April. It was awful, naan like cardboard, poppadoms cold and soggy, lamb dishes were tough, and it's expensive. There is far better food in the pubs in the town. The Dil is only Indian in the town so has the monopoly but their food standards are very poor. Don't know why we went back.....won't be doing that again.

This isn’t the first time I’ve been disappointed with my food. I love a good curry and because I’ve not enjoyed there curries before I tend to go to pontypool and go to the Parbin instead. However, I ordered a curry tonight from there hoping it had improved and cause it’s convenient! but I was wrong what a waste of money! I ordered a chicken tikka pathia curry got home placed it on my plate to notice lots of lemon peel. Ive eaten a few pathias in my time and never had lemon in it. It suppose to be a hot sweet curry. I rang to say i think they’ve given me the wrong curry as it didn’t taste like your typical pathia. The person I spoke to wasn’t willing to make this right or willing to listen and placed phone down. How rude. I suggest people should travel to the next town to get a curry. For one you get more value for your money as potions are small at the Dill and the Dill is much more expensive than other Indians I eat at. Never will I set foot in there again.

Disappointed. Food was OK for saying we literally stopped in and needed something to eat. But note that there is a mandatory 10% surcharge (hidden on the menu). Was charge £9~ for a Coke and J2O (absolutely ridiculous). Unfortunately we won't be coming again. I genuinely feel the prices are higher to take advantage of the older people that live in the area.

I really cannot believe the positive reviews on here. Either those reviewers settle for poor quality, expensive rubbish or won't, or can't travel to find a decent Indian, though the lack of any decent takeaways in the area may be the problem. We arrived at the Dil (having pre booked) at 6.45. I received my starter at 7.40. The food was very poor, my Samosas were thick and greasy and the filling was somewhat bland. My partner had a lamb bhuna which was mainly inedible because of the awful fatty lamb. Portion sizes are a joke as although we aren't big eaters the portion sizes were miniscule but expensive considering the small amounts and quality, nearly £4.00 for 23 rock hard frozen chips is not good. If a take away with a good business is reading this, go to Usk as the people there seem to have a very limited choice of very bad food. The one star is for the friendly serving staff, the only redeeming feature.

Nice food but awful dessert. I thought a banana split for dessert would be nice to finish the meal. It was just a banana and cheap tasteless vanilla ice cream. So so bland. I told the waiter and he never said anything. I said some chocolate sauce or squirty cream would be nice. He was not happy later when I asked the service charge to be removed. Shame as the rest of the meal was good. Why can’t restaurants do the basics well 🤔🤔🤔

Food was OK, waiter was OK until we asked him for separate bills which for some reason he was very unhappy about. The menu had prices for draught beer which was around £4.50 for a pint of Cobra. We were told that there was no draught, would we like bottled instead?, I ordered a large (660ml) bottle of Kingfisher, which to be pedantic is slightly more than a pint. I had another and was utterly shocked to find when I got the bill that it was £6.95 a bottle! and they tried to charge me for 3 when I only had 2, and they tried to overcharge on the third inspection of the bill. this is profiteering on an unacceptable scale and I will not be visiting again, a veritable tourist trap.

Honestly? Quite probably the worst takeaway I have ever seen in my life, and I'm nearly 50. Warm oily slop, basically. We ordered tandoori chicken tikka masala and a chicken madras, saag paneer, mushroom rice, naan, poppadom. About 1/3rd of the sauce was oil. The food was floating in it. The saag paneer was basically huge chunks of cheese swimming in opaque oil with a couple of spinach leaves. The mango chutney which came with the poppadoms, well, there's no other way to describe it, it smelled like old socks, and tasted not much better. The mushroom rice was inedible, it must have been half salt. The chicken dishes were clearly warmed up slop from the weekend, with chunks of plain chicken thrown in and warmed up in the microwave. It smelled bad, too. We genuinely couldn't eat it. I phoned and asked for a refund, the staff were rude, impolite, and refused a refund stating that they couldn't because the boss was not there. What kind of place are they running? Totally out of keeping with the area! To be fair, they did take my mobile and ask if I'd like a replacement meal next time I'm in town. However, I will not be eating there again, not unless they learn how to make food properly, and deal with customers politely.

I rung Dil immediately who said it could be ready in 15 minutes or we could have credit next time we order and the credit would be written up on board for next order. As we live 7 miles away we decided to share out what we had as we wasn’t going to let it spoil our evening over(£50 spent). A few nights ago we decided to order a take away and told them we had a meal on credit (approx £7) we was told our name wasn’t on the board so could not have the credit they owed us. We were told 30 minutes and arrived punctually, only to wait a further 15 mins for our order. £30 later (for 2!) we arrived home to a bag of disasters:- half tandoori chicken - dry; accompanying salad - miserable, thrown together chunks; chips instead of a Peshwari naan and goodness only knows what the lamb tikka pasanda was supposed to be - pappy and tasteless with the texture of wallpaper paste. Rubbish of late. Staff smoking in the doorway. Food is dreadful and flavourless. Slow service too. Why bother? Pay some more and go to the local in Magor or order from Caldicot and have something nice. This will be shut soon unless there is change, living off the previous name and owner.

Ate at the Cinnamon Tree last Friday - what a treat! My friend and I have been touring England and Wales for two weeks, and this was our last meal before my friend returned to France. We could not have chosen a better finale! My friend is an excellent cook, and his view was that it surpassed anything he could do. The flavours were extraordinary; we chose four starters between us to get a wide range of tastes and textures, and we couldn't have been more impressed. If you like Indian food - any food - go here!!
