Dhaba 59 Sports Bar & Grill in Southampton

Fantastic little restaurant in a vibrant area of Southampton. Food is great and the selection of traditional drinks is a fantastic touch. Waiting times are a little long (and I stress 'a little') but I'm always happy to wait for good food and the food was beyond good. Dhaba platter, prawns and chips for starters. Chicken59 and Lamb59 for mains, with naan and rice. Couldn't fault a thing. All finished off with a masala tea. Will definitely be visiting again soon.. Update: still fantastic. Tried the fish this time as well which was incredibly succulent but the fish itself could be a little more flavourful. The batter was lovely but perhaps a dry brine or marinade before coating would help. But still one of my favourite food places in Southampton.

What a lovely place! Went in tonight and the staff were so welcoming and helpful! The atmosphere was incredible. 100% will be going back soon!

Me and four friends went to the the all you can eat wings last night, I was expecting it to be good as I had visited the original dhaba that was in Oxford street, I’ve tried quite a few all you can eat wings around Southampton now and this is by far the best, The wings are a lot cleaner and fresher, They have way more flavours to offer than any others I have been too. The owner was at the front of house very friendly and great to chat to, I wanted to try the lamb chops and I wasn’t disappointed. I would highly recommend going here and I’ll certainly be going back. Great food at great prices.

Great place for some beer and some nosh. Food took a good while to come (circa 45 mins) but when it came it was delicious. We had the big boy platter, but couldn't stomach the idea of chips so swapped for naan. We were four hungry blokes and really would have liked a bit more food, but for a tenner each we couldn't complain.

Welcomed straight away and seated. Varied but easy to read menu explained and general chit chat from host was great. Order taken and checked correct and catered for dietary requirements. Food followed promptly. Starters and main, both exceptional taste and quality, with quantity and spice good too. Really enjoyed. Checked we were alright but no hassle to buy further drinks etc. - relaxed and friendly environment. Enquired about delivery for future use - which is available - but will definitely visit again on another occasion. Reasonably priced for all the extras, taste and service. Great 0% alcohol free selection too. Highly recommend.

The variety of the food was very good especially the chicken wings full of flavour, the service was impeccable, by the time we had our drinks the food arrived so no waiting around mind you it was a Wednesday so quieter than a weekend very reasonable prices highly recommend and a credit to the owner

First visit on our way to Southampton shopping. Very welcoming as soon as we arrived, relaxed atmosphere, very attentive and the food was amazing! We had a couple of the sides which were delicious and the sharing platter, the chicken was cooked to perfection and the lamb chops were the best we've ever tasted!! We will definitely be returning....

Dhaba has become our go to when coming up to Southampton to visit family. The food and service is 5/5. You have to try the pani puri! Can’t wait to visit again soon.

Have eaten here a few times, but recently ordered a takeout. The food was as good as when we have eaten in.

I attended a 50th Birthday party for 40 people at the back of the restaurant with access to the back beer garden. The food was amazing and price of drinks was reasonable. Will definitely go back.!!!

Had a lovely meal with the family at Dhaba59 on the weekend. Welcoming atmosphere with a great selection of beers on tap. Service was very very good. Highly recommend the Bad Boy Platter, Masala Butter chicken and Garlic Chilli Chicken. 5 stars.

The food was more oil than anything else! Way too oily with no flavour. The bhature were not bhature at all...more like fried mini wraps! Ridiculous. Awful would not recommend and won't be ordering from here again

One of my favourite places to go, the staff Singh and simran are the loveliest, friendliest people I have met, along with Mani. If there is anything not on the menu they will try their best to accommodate. Would highly recommend a visit, you won't be disappointed 😀

Dhaba has become our go to for food and drinks and watching sport. We love it. The food is to die for (ask Singh for the Bombay mix because it’s divine!) atmosphere is always great. A mix of really quiet and busier time. Staff there are all just wonderful. Big shout out especially to Singh who is so helpful and friendly and has quickly become a friend but they are all great and really go out of their way to make you feel welcome.

Came for a disappointing Euros game, but Dhaba kept the night good! Loved the food, with excellent meat/veggie and vegan options. The Dhaba platter is excellent value - the chicken was a touch dry, everything else was great. Especially the meatballs. The Chaat was recommended by the manager and was my favorite dish, so an excellent choice there. The chilli/masala chips should be sold by the lb, they're delicious. Would have had 3/4 portions of those. Drinks reasonable price, all the staff were friendly, especially the manager, made us feel really welcomed. Only negative which could see improvement was the atmosphere, lighting is a bit harsh throughout, and quite a lot of flies out back by the conservatory. Bathroom could be cleaner. Will 100% be back, Go support this venue!

This place is amazing! Fantastic food, always friendly and brilliant service. Cannot fault it! Singh, Simran, Jamie, Mani and his family make this place as fabulous as it is. Would thoroughly recommend!

Would give no stars if I could. We were served by a very rude man wearing a turban (for description purposes) who made us feel we were not welcome even when we made friendly chit chat. We sat down with our drinks, and ignored it. I turned and smiled at said man and he stared at me so coldly it was like I had wronged his family and he wanted me dead! I turned my head and looked back and he was still standing there staring at me. I told my fiancé and said I wanted to leave, we left without even finishing our drinks. My fiancé had to good grace to thank them as he left. I certainly did not. I have never felt so unwelcome in a public house in all my life. I am 52 so this is bold statement. If the man does not want to even fake being polite to customers he should not be serving the public. Awful experience and ruined my Friday evening. We shall never darken their door again! (This was at Lodge Road)

Fabulous food the best lamb chops I've ever had

It was very quiet when we visited on the spur of the moment. The host was a cheerful attentive one. Food was delicious. Will visit again. Imagine this venue can get busy at peak times which would make it a very lively place

Called in for a Saturday afternoon meal before a concert at St Mary’s and received a very warm welcome. Great selection of really tasty dishes and a wonderful choice of soft & alcoholic drinks. Will definitely return!

What an amazing place to visit. Overwhelmingly the best Indian restaurant that I have ever visited. Manny was perhaps the most helpful, entertaining and brilliant server that I have come into contact with. The food was exceptional and I cannot recommend this place highly enough. 10/10 easily.

Had a visit on a week day and the atmosphere is ok , was welcomed by the owner and got a seat at the back but before the food arrived the owner came to us and said “there is a free table in the front” with more room. So that was a nice gesture from him . So a great customer service in terms of interaction. Food is good and very authentic and feel at home taste : prices are very reasonable good in hygiene and clean even though it looks different from outside . Don’t go by the appearance from outside . Great place to have a quick bite will definitely visit the place again.

It's okay, that's all there is to it. Decent food, but some things were a bit burnt. Food could be better, 100%. Staff seemed a bit confused and giving an order to someone was a bit chaotic, even when I approached the desk. The place can get crowded and loud very fast too, but I guess that's a good thing? Decent visit :)

Excellent menu of freshly cooked curries, meat, fish and vegetarian dishes, starters and mains, delicious naan breads, great service, sports bar so great if that's your thing, would highly recommend a visit.

Absolutely fantastic little gem of a place. The food flavours are truly amazing. None of your usual commercial stuff. Fresh ingredients and the whole team cook! Well worth a detour.

Inpromptu visit, and this, for me, is a gem of find. Food was amazing, felt home style rather than what everybody else does. More pub than restaurant which works for me. Best recommendation I can give: I will be back, I want to try other dishes, beer and bar stock on point, will be bringing back friends.

Read plenty of reviews for this venue and safe to say it definitely lives up to its hype! We were greeted very warmly by both owners and the venue is very welcoming and homely. The food is outstanding as well as the service and passion the owners clearly have for their amazing venture. We ordered the Pav Bhaji which was EPIC. Its normally hard to get a good well spiced and seasoned one and this one hits the mark 100%! The Potato Bombay Bad Boys were a fabulous take on a vada pav and took them to a next level and they were super in terms of the perfect portion size and flavour. Dhaba Nachos with the soya keema are again another fantastic and different way of serving nachos and were amazing as again it shows the owners take on different foods and again they hit the mark with it. Awesome dish. Tandoori Butter wings were the perfect blend of tandoor flavour with a lovely not spicy marinade that would suit any palette, really enjoyed them. We also had a Paneer Masala which was divine. The sauce was completely different to the standard sauce you get at other curry places and could not get enough of it! Was so good. The dishes were washed down with a gorgeous passion fruit martini and a Nimbu Paani which was very refreshing. Id highly recommend this venue and we will definitely be back for sure to try more of the menu out. A big thanks to the owners and staff there who made everyone feel welcome and super to see them trying different takes on dishes and most certainly being successful in doing so! See you again! Much appreciated.

My partner and I had a fantastic meal here. Our server who we’re guessing is the owner was brilliant and took the time to talk us through the menu and offered us various recommendations. We really enjoyed the unique street food tapas menu which allowed us to try a variety of dishes. Relaxed atmosphere, plenty of beers/ciders on tap and the best Indian food in Southampton! What’s not to love? We’ll definitely be returning with friends.

Great little place for an informal meal. Masala fries are truly epic . Especially with a cold lager and sport on the screens. Tapas prawns were some of the best I've ever tasted and we'll be returning to try prawn curry next. I found the gents toilets a little lacking but it did look like works were ongoing to bring it back up to standard. You can't close the entire restaurant because of one leaky urinal and I'm not going to hold that against them. Clientele ranged from families, couples and groups of young people, really proving that this restaurant has something for everyone... It's an informal sports bar, a chilled place to meet, eat and pass some time. larger range of spirits than I was expecting too. Overall, a good experience and we will be returning soon.

We came here as a table of six - I eat Indian food regularly (every day in some cases) - this is easily the best Indian food I have ever tasted and the service was brilliant, everyone had a good conversation and we cannot wait to go back - superb!

They serve authentic Indian food. Not many Veg options but whatever they have/serve it's delicious.

It was closed despite the door with the timings glaring that it would be open and Google also suggesting the same.

First time we went. Great food. Chicken korma was great bit spicy. Naan bread absolutely amazing. Even made a non spicy curry for kids.

Family meal. Mixed meat platter, veg specials, chilli chips and beer. All enjoyed the food, especially lambchops and pao bhaji. Parking around was available. Good hosts.

The entire evening was absolutely fantastic, from the amazing service, fabulous food and drinks. If you like Indian cuisine, then this tapas style menu is truly amazing and definitely worth a visit! I for one will definitely be going back ..

Loved the ambience ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ the food was superb but will go again as today we had only vegetarian as we are in Lent! But my son loved the chicken tikka and garlic naan was amazing! The owner was around and very welcoming! Food service was super quick and clean place. Highly recommend!

The best kebabs (indian styled) in Southampton. Hands-down. They have an eclectic indian menu with the chef's take on many of the best indian 'street' foods. The minced lamb kebab is unlike anything I've ever had before (and I'm a picky indian eater). Another dish with a twist was the 'chaat' with lots of crunchy pomegranate goodness. The bar is well stocked and the barkeep makes some delicious concoctions. I'd recommend the 'spiced gin' and the 'old fashioned'. They also have hookahs/sheesha as well as a conservatory.

Went there last weekend at the new location at Lodge road . Extremely disappointed to see the fall in standard -very tight space , unclean shabby look , made to wait despite booking in advance and then waited for ages before someone came to take our order . I wish we had not gone there - not worth the money spent at all .

Awesome food! Best Indian restaurant in town. Service and hospitality A+ class. The amritsari fish, badboys, pav bhaji, lamb chops, chips, daal makhani are all must haves. Short menu, but everything to die for.

As leaving Bournemouth me and my family fancied indian food. We found this place and it felt like we were back in our homeland. Food was fantastic, tasty, delicious, fantastic service very friendly. The whole place was clean and highly recommended.

Incredible food. Mani was extremely accommodating and provided us with a 10/10 experience for my brother's 21st meal. Would recommend to anyone!
