Fantastic coffee shop. Wonderful coffee, great food, clean interior. A real addition to the community. However, the customer service is great one day, really rude the next. Not consistent and they talk about their regular customers, not realising that they can be heard. Never mind, I just buy coffee out of convenience. Apart from that, a good business and well run.

The best cortado in Bath ! Always come here as a half way break on one of my favourite walks in Bath … friendly service With a smile 😊

Visiting my daughter at Bath Uni, on way out fancied a brew and snack, so kept an eye out and spotted this little coffee shop more by luck than anything (next to the Tesco Express). Friendly staff, ordered a coffee and decided to try one of their Sausage Rolls and a piece of lemon drizzle cake. Had a take out as I was slightly illegally parked🫣 Scoffed it all in the car, sausage roll was delicious (Pork &Cheese) as was the coffee, beautifully brewed. The lemon drizzle cake was devine heaven. Overall this little coffee shop is a rare gem to find and shall be my go to place in Bath.

The first time we visited we had rude service (who I believe to be the owner) combined with a very poor cappuccino. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and did return again as it’s on the way to the walk we love to do. Every time we have been we have received poor coffee and poor service. For example, whilst everyone else received a biscuit for their dog, we weren’t offered one any of the times we’ve visited, even though the older man behind me with a dog was greeted much nicer and was offered a treat for his dog. I work in hospitality myself and I know it doesn’t take much to serve people with a smile and to be accommodating. We won’t be returning.

Loved the experience! A very sustainable little coffee house with lovely desserts too! If you walk into the shop on an early Saturday morning, it’s perfect!

Awful place. Really rude owner. I watched my coffee being made and owner was just speaking in such a rude manner about customers. It's a shame but the owner's unfortunate rudeness and manner ruin a cafe in a great location

Dexters is a brilliant cafe. I was astonished to read the bad review written by the person who tried to take their dog into the toilet with them and then complained when they were asked not to. I go to Dexters regularly and they are very people and dog friendly. Their coffee is excellent unlike many cafes in Bath and they have delicious cakes.

Dexters is the perfect place to catch up with friends over a great coffee & delicious cake. An absolute gem, with exceptional service from the staff. It’s my go to whenever I’m in Bath !

Best coffee I’ve had on my European trip. Roasted in Bristol , attention the to the art of coffee making is spot on. Smooth lovely Cortado and Cappuccino. Very nice ambience and lovely staff. Had an almond croissant also which was excellent. I hope to come back here. Highly recommended if you are serious about espresso drinks.

As a business owner myself and having worked in hospitality, I know the amount of pride most people we take in making sure everyone feels welcome and the importance of this in this industry, I also understand how valuable and important reviews are (but also how damaging a bad review can be) I take into consideration all the reviews especially the “bad” ones because I believe this is valuable opportunity to rectify aspects that customers are experiencing and will give me the chance to improve. Upon reflection, it is actually the cafe owner (Claire) that was in the wrong on this occasion and she had shown that arrogance, pedantry, lack of humility and empathy persevere over a pleasant customer experience. My family and I visited her shop on Sunday after being for a walk, we live in the neighbourhood and we wanted to try this cafe as a supporter of small independent businesses. After the drinks were received the owner take my teapot, and started cleaning up the table, (By that time I couldn’t determine if she was in a rush or perhaps she didn't realise that I was still drinking my tea?) Anyway, my grandson afterwards spilt his drinks and the same woman (the owner) started cleaning it up and dared to said: -” I think is time for you to go to the park” (In a very abrasive tone) It is true that there are always two sides to a story, regardless of this there is something called principles: Normally these are taught when you are growing up by your parents, school and society. In this industry as in life, there are proper ways to communicate, I would certainly manage it very differently in comparison with the owner. Certainly do not be condescending to the customer, you DO NOT express your opinions/comments if they haven't been asked, and would NEVER make feel someone so uncomfortable that they feel the need to leave. THAT SAYS MORE ABOUT YOU AS A HUMAN BEING RATHER THAN THE BUSINESS ITSELF. She chose to not rectify, NOT to apologise and on the contrary keep being rude and defensive. Judging parenting skills, complaining about she has to clean up after an accident (Toddlers are prone to this) using the resource of lies complying that the presence of a child wasn’t allowed to others' work? This does not justify her actions and attitude towards us. A mother itself? How disappointing that having experienced motherhood herself there is no sorority, empathy, kindness and RESPECT. Definitely will not come back again. Is not the type of business we like, shame that this business is in the lovely community we have built.

The location is lovely (we live nearby so we had to pop by!) and the cakes are also good. The only thing I wish was better was the coffee! It tastes burnt sadly and seeing as there are other places in Bath that do great coffee we haven’t been back since. Such a shame as if the coffee was good I’d be visiting a lot more, hopefully this constructive feedback will be useful

In Bath for a few days and wanted to try out the local coffee shops, rather than those big names in the city centre. Dexters was a short walk (10 minutes) from our accommodation and rated on Tripadvisor. The premises are clean and airy and the atmosphere is relaxed, with lots of locals using the facilities (always a good sign). We ordered 2 americanos with milk and they happily made them in our own recycled cups. If we were staying longer a return trip would definitely be on the cards!

I was on my way to Bristol and passed through Bath, and luckily found a parking space right outside Dexters. Very glad I did. Fab location on a hill light airy and calming atmosphere. The coffee was superb, and the Tuscan Orange and Pistachio cake was heavenly, the best anywhere this side of Florence 😁 . I have several trips to Bristol for work purpose over the coming months, it will be my go to spot for sure.

This is a special place. We found it during covid when we walked down the canal and had our coffee standing outside in the cold. We found a staff full of warmth and fun . And providing delicious coffee and cakes. After covid we stop going as there was no more walks down the canal but we have returned and the staff are just as much fun and the coffee just as good and we can come inside. This is a rare place and much treasured.

We have nothing but good things to say about this place. Such a welcoming spot for a refreshment mid walk. Pete and I are suckers for an oat latte and this one was great. I must add… Pete’s legs were aching after the long walk and Dexter’s doggie bed looked veryyy appealing to him 🙈 I thought he was going to curl up🤭🤭 My only wish is that the cakes were bigger! This cafe is situated at the bottom of a huge hill so whether you've walked down it as we had and want refreshment or you need a coffee to help you on your way, the location is ideal! The Staff were some of the loveliest I've encountered within a cafe/restaurant setting, so friendly but not at all fake just genuinely gorgeous people. The lady who owns the place instantly fell in love with my puppy a fellow Jack Russell like Dexter the café's namesake who sits quietly in his bed watching over everything. Wonderful selection of cakes on offer,would visit again 💞
