Another fantastic evening at Dewsnaps Brasserie. From start to finish we're always looked after well, and Rhys is always polite, friendly and attentive as all staff are. We've never had a bad meal or experience here and it's our monthly go to place for a lovely, special meal out. Thoroughly recommended

Very friendly and accommodating staff, and the food was of an excellent standard. The restaurant area is more for fine dining, but the bar and beautiful garden area can be used for other food including their homemade pizzas. We ate in the restaurant, with a wonderful selection af meals that were all well portioned and presented Then we relaxed in the lovely garden with a post dinner bottle of wine.

We simply cannot rate this restaurant highly enough. The menu is superb! After sampling several dishes, it's hard to choose a favourite as they are all delicious and very well presented. The ambience of the restaurant is perfect and every single member of staff match it. Special thanks go to Reece for looking after us so well tonight (as always) on my wife's birthday. If you haven't been to Dewsnaps before, try it and try it soon!

I simply cannot rate this restaurant highly enough. Having sampled many different dishes on the menu, I can honestly say the food is superb in presentation, quality and taste. Hats off to the chef and team. The staff are always so friendly, courteous and attentive and the setting and ambience spot on. It's our monthly treat!

This is one of the most under the radar fantastic restaurants in York. Only a few minutes walk from the city centre it is part of The Churchill Hotel. We have visited the restaurant a good few times now and the food is simply amazing every time. Coupled with that, the staff are always courteous, friendly and helpful. The restaurant ambience is spot on. We'll be back soon!

This is the third time we've visited here and every single time has been spot on. Its such a lovely little restaurant aesthetically and ambience wise and the staff are always attentive and polite. The food has been well presented and delicious on every visit and well priced for the overall experience. We're going to try and make this our pay day treat each month!

We went here to celebrate my sister's 40th and I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Firstly the staff are so helpful and accommodating (we were not the easiest group of 9 with 1 celiac, 2 dairy free and 2 children). They couldn't have been more helpful and then the chefs - well the food was just delicious! The set menu is great value at £21 for 2 course and £27.50 for 3 courses. Highly recommend you give it a try. You won't be disappointed.

We thoroughly enjoyed breakfast, esp the eggs Benedict. Dinner was middling - some entrees and starters were outstanding and some were meh. If you’re staying at the Churchill and your schedule is crazy, it’s definitely worth having an evening meal here.

Through one thing or another we've waited a while to vist here but wow was it worth the wait. As long time veterans of the garden and pizzas we really wanted to try the brasserie and tonight finally got round to it. Everything from start to finish was perfect- staff, drinks, food (presentation, taste, price), ambience and music (so many places get the music wrong) we had the most perfect night. We will be back!

If we had read some of the Tripadvisor reviews before eating here, we would probably have chosen to eat elsewhere however it was lovely. We arrived late to York after an impulsive decision to get away for a few days and needed somewhere close to our hotel to eat. The dining room is beautiful. Tastefully decorated and with enough tables to create an atmosphere without being on top of each other. Our waitress was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. She was also very helpful suggesting places for us to visit in York. The food was lovely. Well presented and tasted good. I would recommend.

Chose this restaurant because I had a voucher for my birthday and what a super find it was. The menu had a good range of perfect choices for winter. Everything was beautifully presented and the service from a delightful group of staff was perfect. Very enjoyable

We visited for dinner and honestly it was so lovely. Started in the bar for a couple drinks, barman was warm, chatty and very kindly let me change my drink when I said I didn’t like it. We sat in the brasserie for our meal, I had the cured salmon and the sea bass, both were absolutely delicious. Overall the evening was wonderful and we will definitely be back- dying to sit out in the igloos!

I am very surprised to read all the negative reviews for the restaurant at Churchills. We have been twice and both times had a great experience in terms of the food and service. Our most recent visit was for new years eve. They had a silent disco going on outside. We was inside in the restaurant which is beautifully decorated. We had starters and main course. For starters my husband had the soup of the day and I had duck salad. The soup was really tasty. My duck was really nice just a little over cooked for my liking. For our mains my husband had steak and chips which he was very happy with. I had chicken with creamed cabbage and potatoes. It was delicious, I enjoyed every bite. All members of staff that we encountered were really lovely and welcoming. We will be returning customers for sure.

Visited the restaurant as it was close to where we were staying in York. Really impressed by the restaurant decor and there was a pleasant atmosphere. Our food was presented very well, burrata followed by chicken and it was tasteful. The staff were young, friendly and willing. Exceeded my expectations.

Just left the restaurant after what should have been a special birthday celebration meal. How disappointing!! Slow service, mediocre food and none existent front of house. Reception lady/manageress unhelpful! Such a shame as the hotel restaurant and grounds are so inviting. We have looked forward to this for some weeks but sadly won’t be returning ☹️☹️

Me and my mum were visiting York for a week on holiday. On the day we arrived we found this restaurant which we thought looked nice. We were not staying here so we did not have a booking but they took us to our table. As far as customer service goes that’s where the good stops. Throughout our meal nobody checked if we were Ok or needed anything else. I think their staff needed better training on this! We had ordered 2 roast chickens and no starters , this took as long as 35 minutes! When the food arrived it was a half plate to say the least sides were definitely needed. Most of the way through our chicken we could see that it was very pink inside. When they finally came back to take our plates we were asked how it was and I explained how everything on the plate was barely lukewarm and the chicken was uncooked in which they had nothing to say. We had tried to get someone’s attention at the time but there was no staff around. I then received the bill of £60 which in any other circumstance I would be happy to pay but I did not think that it was not worth the money!!! However I paid it. Not long after my mum started to feel ill, no longer than 6 hours after she was very ill for several days. When I contacted the hotel directly the response I got was shocking as there was not so much as an apology on there. I was told that it was unlikely to be food poisoning from their food as it takes longer to occur. Working in a restaurant myself I know all about food poisoning and the time it takes to occur depends on how severe it was. Very disappointed! I wouldn’t waste your time or money ! We wont be going back!

Came for a meal with friends and wish we had gone elsewhere. Venue itself is lovely. However, the menu is poor and the food was very average. Had a vegetarian with us (we know they can be a pain) but the waiter told them they’ll have to order off the starters if they don’t want the risotto. We decided to go here for a meal for my birthday

Booked for 8 of us for a 50th birthday bash on a Saturday night last month. Only 2 other people in for dinner. Food ok, but at least 3 things already off the menu! Service a bit hit and miss - took us several attempts to interest anyone to give us a bill. For the money, really quite poor.

We were staying at the hotel and normally would venture out to a restaurant in the town but as we had a 6am start the next morning decided to try the hotel's restaurant -Dewsnaps. You MUST try the "Grazing Menu" it's REALLY surprisingly good!!

We stayed at the Churchill Hotel and had dinner here on the first night. It was small-plates style with all Modern English dishes. All were delicious and wee vacuumed up in no time. A must try!

Por desgracia estaba en el receptor final de la mayoría de los malos modales, el personal de recepción que no podía siquiera interés suficiente para buscar fain desde sus pantallas de ordenador. Pedimos tres preguntas sobre el menú de la cena a la que recibi respuestas individuales al borde de grunts palabra. Señoras, quizás debería preocuparse más acerca de con quien decides descartar/ignorar o mejor aún ser encantador, educado y amable con nosotros que vienen para pasar nuestro dinero ganado duramente. Mi grupo de 11 chomping es ahora felizmente lejos en otro lugar.

Visitamos el hotel para cenar, y me quedé impresionado con el entorno. Por desgracia personal se requiere más formación, pedimos cuatro bebidas y sólo tres nos sirven, cuando nos señaló que todavía estábamos esperando, camarera tomó el pedido de nuevo, pero mal y tuve que tomar la bebida volver y cambiar el cristal.

Cenamos una noche durante su estancia en el hotel. La selección de la comida era excelente y muy bien preparado. La lista de vinos era ideal para la cocina, pero lamentablemente el servicio simplemente tomó el borde de la experiencia. Puede ser que los cogimos a, pero la noche no bastante caudal como uno podría esperar. Dicho esto, los primeros dos elementos más que compensado por este problema.

Dos de nosotros nos alojamos en El Grange, el hotel al otro lado de la carretera. Su propio restaurante, el Ivy, parecía un poco caro, así que nos sentimos atraídos a este restaurante del hotel ya que anuncian un 3 platos por £19.95.

El lugar parece ambicioso y el diseño interior conceptual con temática de Churchill es probablemente no es para todos los gustos, aunque personalmente me parece. A pesar de las apariencias indicando esnobismo potencial, nuestro trio algo relajado (incluyendo un niño de tres años activos) fue recibido con mucha paciencia y buen humor. El servicio era cálido y acogedor, y la comida estaba bastante buena. Muy agradable velada.

Mi esposa y yo estuvimos el primero en llegar, así que nos fuimos al bar para tomar una copa. 1 Casa grande red (merlot) y lima y soda, £12,40 ! Sé bares del hotel puede ser caro, y acepto que, pero eso era solo una estafa. Al lado de la cena. Comimos en la más hermosa de las habitaciones. Tuve un cebo blanco para comenzar y que era muy agradable y te daba mucho. Mi esposa y yo pedimos la carne. Tenía un salpica de salsa, 3 patatas asadas y un budín de Yorkshire. La carne era muy grasoso asados y estaban secos. Las verduras añadida que ponen en la mesa consistía en únicas de las zanahorias, col roja y más patatas? En general, la comida estaba bien, pero en su mayoría decepcionante. Desde luego que no creo que me voy a volver.

Después de ir al Churchill en muchas ocasiones nos decidimos por el cumpleaños de mi marido. Mi marido pidió un Bacardi y coca-cola y no lo tenían. Luego en el bar y en el restaurante aproximadamente 10 pasos del sabor de sopa cambió. Para rematar, pedí un café del Calypso y me dijeron que no tenían el licor a ir! La comida tengo que decir que fue excelente y disfrutamos mucho. Nos sentimos que un hotel que se supone que es de alta calidad sería capaz de proveer lo que se requiere. Enviar un correo electrónico al hotel y nos dieron una superioridad y pomposo respuesta me informen de sus productos premium internas que no nos ofrecieron como alternativa. Rest Assured es un hotel que se eviten en el futuro y espero que el director se dará cuenta de que él tiene delirio de grandeza que no puede volver.

Fuimos a este hotel la última noche para la cena de aniversario. Tengo que decir que me quedé muy decepcionado. última vez que estuve en este hotel hace 2 años y ha ido seriamente.

We dined here our first night in York, the Hotel restaurant is just around the corner from the apartment in Bootham Crescent. We enjoyed the taster menu, a variety of different dishes which were indeed tasty.
