A Victorian pub has a very good choice of real ales can't fault the choice full of history apparently Barnes Wallace the stayed there in the 1940s. The creator of the bouncing bomb..There's a out door seating area and family room plus lounge and main bar area. Fresh local eggs on sale.. Food is various snacks plus Cobs priced at £3.75.. I do recommend cheese and pickle you get a good 👍 size portion of cheese..Ham tuna.. etc . very friendly bar staff and landlord . Outside is opposite is a shopping mill Arkwright mill I think it's called...

Fast efficient service of a great choice of cask ale with the 4:00 pm rush at opening time. A CAMRA heritage pub with its 1960’s decor - I suppose a digital train time table would look out of place in here - the station is less than 5 minutes away if you are travelling North bound with no footbridges to cross.

What the most recent steward Tony and family have done to the the place is simply remarkable. This Victorian circa 140 building previosly known as The Middleton Hotel has always been a beautiful, yet became a run down building needing love. Now it is again beaming, and bustling at full steam. Full most days with lovely people just trying to wind down. No delinquents ever drink here. Just a wonderful place to have a fantastic pint. Theres also a nice selection of spirits available. It never gets old saying.... Well done to Tony, family, friends and staff for bringing the drop back to life!!!

Absolutely adore this place. Pies are very tasty, the cheese and onion Cobs are amazing, but very filling due to the amount of filling you get. Always have loads of different ales on. Good ciders too. The staff are absolutely brilliant, have an artist quite regular. Atmosphere is great especially when a regular turns up and plays guitar. Dog and children friendly.

Quiet when I went in on a Friday afternoon, but really nice pub. Good selection of ales and lagers and reasonably priced. Very good service, efficient and friendly, felt welcome the moment I stepped in. What a superb freehouse. So excellent I'm writing this review after my second visit in a few weeks on pub crawls up from London for the day. Just had to stop for another visit after a small crawl at Langley Mill. Cask ale choice and quality really high. Nice good value cobs served, I had two ! Customers very friendly and owner/manager? (Tony?) very welcoming. If you're on a day out to Ilkeston or on a pub crawl on the Erewash Valley line this pub needs to be on your itinerary. Cheers x

This is the old Middleton railway hotel. It no longer provides accommodation. It is a specialist real ale pub with live music occasionally in the bar. It has a snug room very quiet. Also has a big lounge where everyone talks to each other ,just good beer and good conversation. There's a yard with outdoor seating and a smoking area. Bishops Farewell,& Devil at 6%ABV is a regular drink here from Oakham,s Brewery plus six other guests ales at a average price of £3.40 They also do 4 strong Ciders. Simple food prepared fresh to order ham and cheese cobs also hot Cornish pasties, pork pies Soups with co All in all a good old fashioned pub.

Would not hesitate to recommend The Olive Pot for a special occasion. From booking to execution of a meal for 10, the service could not have been any better. We were given a large choice of menus from which we chose 3 dishes for each course. The staff arrived on time, dressed the table and cooked and served the most amazing meals. The quality of the food was excellent and cooked to perfection. I would go so far as to say it was some of best I'd had in a very long time... and plenty of it. After we had finished everything was left spotless. I really don't k so how they did it, but it made an auspicious occasion very special. Thank you.

We ate lunch so can't say anything about the rooms, but... Five of us went for Sunday lunch, especially for an 80+ birthday. It. Was. Fabulous. Sunday lunch is something I avoid as so often one or two elements are disappointing - not here! Two types of potatoes, two types of cabbage, two other vegetables, 3 types of meat, delicious gravy and a crisp Yorkshire pudding. All served by fab staff, even the young guys serving and clearing plates were engaging and attentive. Really couldn't fault any of it. Booking essential, will definitely be back. Thank you 🙏
