Seemed nice and clean and welcoming inside. We had one cheese ploughman's roll and one turkey and stuffing roll. To drink, two cappuccinos and then a small chocolate shortbread. It came to £22. I was so shocked at the price that I queried it, which I wouldn't usually do. Turns out that the rolls cost around £7.50 each, even though the displayed price on them was around £4.65. I was told this was the eat in price. Shame that was not clearly displayed anywhere. I was actually told that it should have cost £24 but we had been given a discount on the shortbread. Nothing was provided with the prepackaged rolls, like a salad garnish. So, extremely expensive for a roll and coffee. The food was nice enough but I felt overcharged and annoyed that the "eat in" price was not clearly shown. Will make sure we don't visit any of their shops again. We eat out a lot and I have rarely felt so ripped off.

I’m told the food is really nice, I wouldn’t know because as a vegan they have absolutely nothing I can eat. I used to enjoy the Biscoff biscuit they gave you with your coffee but they have stopped doing that now. Guess they were not making enough money off the £2:60 they charge for a small cup of black coffee. All the food is super expensive. And strangely shrinking. Half the food on the menu’s they don’t actually have, you have to order from a different shop. Not much use when you’re in that shop. Some of the staff are nice and friendly but a couple are definitely not. You will find them sitting in the customers seating, scrolling on their phone or I-pad. Shame really as this used to be a nice little shop.

The food here is amazing. Always has been. But OMG it feels like you actually send your staff on specialist courses on how to be obnoxious and antagonize your customers. Frodsham and Runcorn are the same but somehow Weaverham has managed to escape the culture. Their manager, and their staff need to be applauded. Maybe the owner needs to suck this up a little.

I first got my taste of custard tarts here when I was little back in the 60’s. I remember the mini fruit pies and the meat and potato pasties too. Moved to a Kent in the 80’s but whenever we go back to see family a trip to Devonshire Bakery is a must. This time I brought back a selection of things to Kent as nobody makes pies and pasties like them. They are not cheap like Greggs but you won’t be disappointed if you want quality.

Through my years of experience buying from Devonshire bakery I know you have to be very careful buying the savoury bakes they can be way over or under cooked but they caught me out today the cheese on the pizza bagel looked perfect and the base not too bad but the cheese had been placed on a completely burnt bagel top which was rock hard and completely uneatable don’t know why the savouries are so mixed but not had a bad cake

4 of us went here for drinks and the sweet smell of cakes greeted us as we walked through the door. I had a lovely cup of green tea and had to follow it with another! One of my friends had a creamy hot chocolate and the other 2 had fresh coffee, and we were all given a courtesy biscuit. If I wasn't on my way to a birthday party, I definitely would have tried one of the amazing cakes on display. A great place to watch the world go by in the centre of Runcorn.

I have visited the Devonshire Bakery this morning and once again not sure if the staff are trained that way but they are miserable can hardly raise a smile, they made me feel extremely uncomfortable not a pleasurable experience. The only lady who raised a smile and asked if I was being served was a lady who came from the back with dark hair and an apron on. The food is excellent and don't mind paying extra but you shouldn't be made to feel uncomfortable whilst waiting for toasted tea cakes. The lady who served me eventually gave me a smile as I paid and went to leave. Please, Please, do something being friendly and nice doesn't cost money but this review would have been very different had a welcoming smile been offered.

I have never known a bakery to be so greedy with their prices. For years Devonshire Bakery have been money grabbing. Yes, most of their pies and cakes are delicious, but when you think that a small pie is £1.90 and a simple Blackcurrant Tart is over £1.45 it really is ridiculous. If you asked for a box of 4 cakes, you would be looking at a cost of around £6.00 which simply is not deserved. I suspect that most people trying out Devonshire Bakery for the first time, have been astounded when they are told the price!! I do not know how they can justify the prices, especially when there is another bakery where delicious items are 2 for £1.The shop is never busy, and most of the clients are getting on in age. I would advise Devonshire Bakery to start doing a few offers/vouchers and you never know, you may sell a lot more items, instead of being so greedy with your prices.Just a word on the staff too..... there is a foreign woman working in here who is quite offhand when serving, this may put people off. There is also an older lady, 60's, with glasses and her manner is despicable. She should be removed from the serving counter - she is very rude. Most of the younger servers are lovely. So, to recap, lovely food, but just not worth the prices. Business is too greedy with prices and may sell more with some offers. Maybe you could upload a price list onto your website, then there is nothing to hide and people will not get a shock when they get the bill!!

I called in here whilst waiting for my car to have an MOT nearby. I was going to go in Costa but noticed this place and as it looked inviting decided to give it a try. So glad I did. Very cosy and friendly atmosphere with nice seating area too. All the food and cakes looked very nice but as I’d just been out to eat I only had a cup of tea. This was brought over to me with a complimentary shortbread which I thought was a nice touch. This was only £1.20 and every bit as nice if not nicer than Costa. I will definitely return and sample the food next time. The girls serving were very friendly and seemed to know many of the customers which I thought was very refreshing. Very reasonable prices.Highly recommend this place.

No volveremos aquí.

Like the ethos to buy locally and cook fresh, it’s so much nicer than the factory mass produced foods you can come across where you are wondering how long ago it was made. I approve of helping our local producer and shops like Cowards in Frodsham.Today it was really busy but you would expect that around about lunch time and it’s a sign that a place is good if it’s full. The Cornish rolls I bought seemed to have shrunk since the last time I came here, admitted it was a year or so back, but as with many products the price goes up and the size goes down. Also the meat content was not what it used to be, my cat can vouch for that as he used to love getting his 5% today he gave me the look of where is the meaty stuff I like?Rolls were as always lovely, but they sure as heck aren’t giving them away. Shop clean and staff friendly.

Have always enjoyed the pies and cornbread etc from the 'Dev' the Cornish rolls have changed in that there is a lack of meat in them compared to back in the day, more of a potato and carrot roll these days. The down side is the price, you'll need a small fortune and maybe remorgage to purchase a meat pie and cake.

Been a customer for over 30 years, but it was a bakery only to be saved for a couple of visits per year. Any more than that and you would have to remortgage your house!I am all for supporting small local businesses, but Devonshire Bakery are just plain greedy. 4 cakes here would cost you £5.00. Similarly 3 small pork pies, would be £5.00. A small Pork and apple slice is around £1.30 and a Cornish Roll, don't even ask the price! They do not deserve to be in business, when they are this greedy with their prices. It seems that it is only elderly people who now visit this shop, probably out of habit. Yes, a lot of their items are nice, but when Pound Bakery (which is Sayers) has opened across the road, you must wonder how long Devonshire Bakery can continue to charge extortionate prices. Their vanilla slices are a ridiculous price. At Pound Bakery all of the wonderful cream cakes are 2 for £1. 2 FOR £1!!!!. Their Bavarian Slices are to die for, and the custard is so creamy. Far superior to Devonshire Bakery. Pasties and Pies are also 2 for £1 there, and are very tasty.Lower your prices, create some offers on your cakes and pies, and you may win a few customers back. Too many staff and not many customers.

Great cakes and sandwiches. I've been a few times but the proce is quite expensive especially when they don't have the highest hygiene rating. Good selection. Staff average. I mainly get the odd sandwich but due to price it's not as regular as O would like and the pound bakery has opened opposite although a very different quality of food. For a nice cake or quick bite them the Devonshire will do this nicely.

Pleasant bakery with some very nice homemade cakes, pastries and bread. Staff friendly and there is a steady trade. Take away service for sandwiches and soup. It is a bit pricey, however and the menu isn't overly descriptive. For example it doesn't say that jacket potatoes are available. It was only when I saw a customer eating one I realised they were available. Also one of the assistants dropped a cake on the floor. She cleared it up but didn't wash her hands immediately but carried on serving the customer. That's why it's 3 stars and not more.
