This place has been an absolute joy since it opened a few years ago. I visit 3 or 4 times a week and always enjoy a fantastic coffee; the staff are always friendly and the atmosphere is great, same goes for the heated seats. Destination 1850 will close for the last time on 23 June 2024, highly recommend trying this place before it's too late.

Reasonable price given location and environment. Lovely place for a drink and a bite to eat when travelling through the railway station.

We tried to order and stood at the bar while it was quiet. No one was ordering but there was staff and we were ignored. We waited a while and then turned away as no one came over while we were the only ones waiting to order.

We were just wandering passed and decided to stop for a pint. I’m a sucker for a station bar - it provides excellent people watching and 1850 was up there with the best for this. It was a Saturday afternoon so the station was heaving with Jen-do ladies arriving in Toon for a fun time - my goodness some of them were a sight. Anyway, they serve a decent pint and it’s reasonably priced.

Had a great visit today (December 23 2022). After visiting for the first time back in August 2022 I’m back again before catching a train. Destination 1850 has a nice atmosphere and friendly. It is also great for people watching if you enjoy that. The seats along the back are also really comfy.

Has the makings of a great venue but with some of the worst staff I have witnessed. Miserable, bored & making zero effort with customers; one even downright cheeky towards customers. Certainly doesn't have the feel of a relaxed costa, not made to feel welcome. Why is half the venue cordened off with ugly barriers? Doesn't make sense. Also doesn't seem to know what it is- a cafe, a pub, a restaurant? Who knows.

It's a lovely place and comfortable. But unfortunately the staff are not inviting. They need to smile more and be customer focused. This place should be busy but its so badly run its unreal. No one knows what its about. And yet it does most things a passing traveler needs. There's a Nero opposite and it's very busy. Destination has no customers. Management need to up their game because their failing badly.

I visited this charming bar and ordered a pint of beer. The service was good. The decor is smart but quirky. The sofas are very comfortable, perfect to take the strain off after navigating around Newcastle Central.

This café is located in Newcastle‘s main train station. We intended to have breakfast here but there was a very limited choice of food on offer, so we just had a coffee. It is located in the main foyer area, which is good for people watching, but it was a bit cold on this particular morning as the main station doors keep opening.

Treated our friend to a cocktail here on Friday, we were all very impressed with the quality and a little bit tipsy as well. As always thank you for a lovely experience.

I been here today before a train journey. I opted for a breakfast sandwich along with a regular latte both of which were absolutely lovely. The staff are courteous, well mannered cilia professional and friendly which all adds up to a great experience. A unique feature of this place is that the seats are heated and believe me, they're so warm outside I’mzzszzm and comfy you'll not want to get up from them. Just perfect for a cold winter morning like today and an absolutely brilliant idea. I'd give this place 6 stars if I could. Definitely be back.

Lovely little café! I tried the caramel hot chocolate and the staff were so friendly and checked to see if the flavouring for vegetarian for me. Plus the heated lights, an absolute saver in this frosty weather

Stopped for a coffee here and although the coffee and service were good the selection of food and drinks were poor to say the least. Little to have along with the drinks except pre packed goods. If this place was better stocked then the potential could be massive given that it is in the busy railway station.

Someone has reviewed this is a hidden gem - and it is lovely within the magnificent Central Station. However, we went and the service was appalling, the main bar tender having no social graces whatsoever. We just had drinks as food looked like it had been out for days. It was very quiet - no wonder with service like that. Such a shame

I found myself at Central station this morning ( 28.09.2021) and in need of a quick caffeine fix before my train arrived. With a very long queue at Costa coffee, I noticed the little hidden gem called Destination 1850. I was greeted by a cheerful, polite young man, who served my coffee swiftly whilst engaging in conversation. It was a refreshing change not to be grunted at or just be a name on a cup. Not only had I found an hidden gem but I also found a fabulous way to start the day. Unfortunately I didn’t get the young man name, but I enjoy the latte he made, the light hearted conversation and I will definitely be returning next time I am at the station.

Wonderful service- went above and beyond, the girls on duty were efficient and friendly, made our wait between trains so enjoyable that we had to return the following day before our trip ended.

Located near the exit at Newcastle Central Station is Destination 1850 ,an absolutely fantastic railway bar that we decided to visit as we were waiting for a train to Durham. A cool looking bar ,eye catching and inviting, lots of seating and super friendly staff . We got beers here which were served in excellent condition being iced cold and sparkling and we just kicked back, chilled out and looked forward to our day out in Durham while sipping our beers in Newcastle Central Station. My beer was really good, a light, hoppy and unpretentious lager style beer bursting with taste and on a hot afternoon a totally refreshing brew it was the perfect start to our day out. Destination 1850 is easy to locate in Newcastle Central Station. Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday, 7am till 7pm. A wonderful bar in a stunning railway station, most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area.

Just had the friendliest of service from the young lady at the bar today (07/09/2021). She recommended some delicious food, poured the perfect pint and knew how to have a banter with customers. Some of the meals weren’t available due to a late delivery, but her customer service and suggestions were greatly appreciated! Fantastic place to have a drink, a meal or just to sit and read a book/ people watch.. Highly recommend “Destination 1850”..

We're in the station with 1 hour before our train is due to depart so decided to have a quick drink to spend some time ... we're very glad we did as we actually had so much fun and banter with the young guy on the bar. He was lovely, hilarious with a very dry sense of humour and well, we'd go back just to see him. He poured a pint and said, I'm really bad at pouring a pint so your glass is a bit wet, well, when I say wet .. it's actually soaking. At first we thought we were on some candid camera style show (showing my age) but honestly, what a beautiful soul. If you have the time, because he's quite slow and I'm sure he'll actually agree with that, please drop by and enjoy your pre-train journey. Many thanks for the laughs. Enjoy Uni this year xx

Had a very well needed coffee here and it hit the spot. I am so happy I picked this place instead of the other coffee shops in the station. A large coffee was £2.70 which is reasonable and the same as a regular in others. Plant based milk does not cost anything to switch, which is great because it is annoying when you cannot rely on the prices on the board! The coffee was delicious and I’ve taken some aesthetically pleasing photos and added them to the review. Fabio and his colleague were so lovely !

High quality food. Had the California Burger. Really good, perfect size without being too much of a handful. Chips are triple cooked and taste great. A nice selection of beers as well behind the bar.

My husband(!) and I had our wedding lunch here 31st October 2024. What a delightful time we had! As we were catering for 30 people, we used outside caterers (can recommend Community Catering) and The Hub made sure there was enough space for them to set out food lovely. The bar selection was great for our needs and they even ensured there was a small cocktail menu available at our request (pina coladas are delicious!). Jill and Heather took care of our every need when arranging the event (and during) and I think were even more excited than me! They made the space absolutely beautiful for us. Many of our guests had not been before and were very impressed and will certainly be back again soon as customers. The other staff in attendance on the day were great too, happy, friendly and polite. It is a fabulous little hidden gem of a location which is perfect for a walk (or cycle!) along the Quayside or the Ouseburn, with beautiful views along the river Tyne with backdrop of the bridges. Although we were unable to use their food at our event, we have eaten here before and it has always been delicious. It is worth noting too that they use as many local suppliers and small business as possible which in my view is really worth celebrating. Keep an eye on their drinks menu as it changes with the season which is a lovely little touch too. On a cold day, you can still sit outside to enjoy the view too as they even have some blankets that you can borrow to keep the chill off. Thanks again, from the new Mr and Mrs Burnett.
