Ordered from Uber Eats and the delivery did not arrive. The restaurant ended up giving the order to the wrong driver and weren’t able to retrieve it. The man on the phone did not care one bit and was even raising his voice to me. If they care this little about their customers getting their food I can only imagine how little care they put into making the food. Shocking customer service. Will not order from here again!!

Ok this place is not posh or dressy but quite rustic which I think adds to the charm. The food is one of the most authentic panjabi food I have eaten. Staff are nice. Can bring own alcohol if you so wish. Good value for money.

Went here as a family; first time so we dressed quite well, only to find that the place isn’t a restaurant per se. It’s more like a walk in place, no reservations needed. Not blowing my horn, but we turned out to be the best dressed people there. Other customers, including the Staff, were shabbily dressed, which was a turn off straight away. The tables and seats were bare wooden and totally uncomfortable. Tables hasn’t been cleaned properly and had a sticky feel..yuck! To top it all, the place was cold..it’s mid winter and the east they can do is switch the heat on. The food was totally fine, the only redeeming thing about the place. They have a bring-your-own alcohol policy, so there’s nothing to stop you bringing in a bottle of absinthe! And true to form, we saw customers who had drunk too much, using foul language; not a place where you can take female members of your family. I know the place when it first opened, had a great reputation; they used to have live Bhangra dancers come in every day! Now, the original owners have sold out and these guys need to pull up their socks or face dwindling customers. Not that they seem to care! Best advice: don’t eat there; order and pick up your meal.

I don't understand the negative reviews, we have eaten in, and taken away many times and the food is consistently brilliant. We live in Maidenhead and regularly drive to Hayes as there is nothing local that compares. Maybe some people expect a dull chicken korma, or tikka masala and are not used to the amazing tastes on offer here?

Worst Indian food in Southall! Let me take you through the experience... You walk in and immediately start coughing because of the cooking smoke, which will also stick to your clothes. Then you make your way through the dirty restaurant, walk past the slop bucket on show, and sit at a dirty sticky table. Then the food arrives. Oh dear. I've eaten in numerous places in Southall, and this is the WORST 5hite on offer. Food has way too much garlic as that's all you can taste. The kebabs are definitely frozen. Chicken curry dishes are just big bowls of curry sauce with about 4 little chicken pieces. Tramps were coming in begging for food. Rip off prices for what you get. Absolutely appauling!

My husband and I have been ordering from this restaurant for the last couple of years food was amazing, was quite excellent, but recently 3 times ordering the quality is atrocious ! I don't know if they changed the chef or just cutting back on quality ingredients, regardless their prices have increased and poor quality is received instead for your hard working money! Not good, by the way I'm in the food trade and punjabi and I know what I'm talking about when it comes to good food and good quality for your money Thank goodness there are plenty of really good restaurant that are dying for business with quality chefs , service and ingredients, why waste your money on this restaurant ??? Unless they take notice, We all are going through tough times at this moment but that's not an excuse for people spending there hard earned money for poor quality, sort it out!

I loved the food here, they get really busy within' the local community, but are always honest and reliable so will let you know how long your order will be if you are ordering takeaway. The boss Amish was is often working and is a testament to how to run a great business. Food wise, the meat is top quality and probably the best chicken I have had at an Indian restaurant. Lamb was also tender and delicious, some reviewers have said the food is too hot, so simply ask for a milder curry. I found everything I had here the week I visited was superb, Murgh Madras, Karahi chicken, Lamb aloo, all amazing. Sundries such as naan were perfect, the samosas were great value. A fantastic place, I wish I lived nearby..

This used to be our go to place for authentic Punjabi cuisine and was highly rated by myself and friends, however on the last two occasions, spaced out by a few months, the food quality, taste and service has significantly deteriorated to the point of atrocious. The owner doesn’t care, acknowledges the feedback and just continues pricing every dish with no offer to adjust or remake a dish. Very poor indeed considering we were regular customers. The place has transformed into a hangout for drunks who after consuming a few bottles just want something to shovel down. Never again.

When you see the price you are supposed to pay and then get charged a higher price it is very unsatisfactory to say the least. Secondly the food is nothing to write home about if you like your food simply reheated in a microwave and served to you. The ambience hygiene levels are a big fat zero! Sticky tables, cobwebs on the walls and I wouldn't be surprised if they have a rodent infestation either judging by their exterior hygiene levels. We'll never ever go back to such an awful place!!!

I ordered paneer tikka and mix grill for takeaway. There were only 6 pieces of paneer and no roasted capsicum or onions. And mix grill was not in a way to be prepared with very less quantity. I ordered for a normal food(not spicy) but it was quite spicy. And I was surprised that they charged £6.99 for paneer tikka and £12.99 for mix grill. Totally waste of money. It’s small, it’s little -off the main thoughrofare of “Delhi upon London”, the famed Southall -an Indian enclave of London; but this Desi Tadka (there are others too) is really upparallaled in terms of personalised service and detail to food and the portion and the taste. I don’t usually eat Indian food -but make sure to go try different Indian restaurants wherever I am travelling (by the way, most “Indian restaurants” these days are run by Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Sri Lankan or even Nepalis -but Nepalis are Indian extension anyway) -and this particular little “authentic Indian” joint has struck me as the most efficient, well portioned and detail to quality of food attended Indian restaurant amongst others.First you are greeted by traditional Punjabi dressed maniquens by the little door & then you are immidietely ushered into wafts of multitude of different recipes; that already hightens the appetite for the food to come next. Then you are greeted by tall & handsome Mr. Amish Tuli, an ever smiling host of the restaurant -who is always eager to put you at ease regarding the overwhelm you feel, about many different taste and type of Indian food. Then after ordering, mostly the food arrives even before you notice time has lapsed. Ordering some papadum to kill the time between order & delivery of food is usually a right thing to do. The papadum comes with three different types of sauces, a mango based, a chilli based and a yoghurt based -balancing each other out. And then food are good proportioned with just right amount of spices & chilli to be able to endure onslaught of Indian spicy food for even a first-timer.Again the place is bit off the busy lane & may appear small; but by providing quality food & quality service in a very reasonable competitive price, the place has earned my loyalty and much recommendation to other potential customers staying in my hotel. As Mr. Tuli would like to put it, Desi Tadka is Simply the Tadka!! [Meaning it sends zinger through your tongue & belly!]My suggestion, Mr. Tuli start another joint named “Tuli Belly”! There are just too many named “Tadka” and this one being off lane & smallish doesn’t get its true due.My favourite: Lamb Korma & Mushroom Fried Rice! Number one! Best I have had so far!! [You can ask to have less gravy, more lamb!]

Had read about this place and really wanted to visit. Table was sticky, rice on seat beside me, cobwebs on vent beside us. I cleaned off the table and chair as staff were busy. The noise from the speakers was extremely loud we had to text each other or shout across the table. The food was okay, we had 3 vegetarian dishes, 3 breads and 2 lassis between us. Dal mahkani was good. Seemed quite expensive at around £40.00 and had a bit of a wait for it to arrive. Wished we’d gone elsewhere but the only good thing was close to the hotel. The open kitchen was disorganised with pots and trays everywhere. Tried it once but will not return. You can bring your own alcohol as they don’t sell but there are soft drinks to purchase.

Having had a recommendation from a mate about this place , I thought I should get down at some point and check it out . Last night was a last moment decision , based on the fact I hadn’t planned anything for dinner . What a revelation it was in this place . When I ventured in it was buzzing with people , pretty much all locals from southall . It was pretty loud and it was a bit difficult at first to get seated . A restaurant will always prefer a table of 2 or 4 instead of one . Anyway eventually got seated by the kitchen , so I could see the food prepared , which all seemed to be cooked from scratch . I ordered onion bhajis , which arrived quite quickly . I also opted for egg fried rice , peshwari Naan and chicken Dhansak. Everything arrived pretty swiftly and was very tasty indeed . The place doesn’t serve alcohol , but they didn’t object to me bringing some in from the off-licence next door . It is certainly a authentic curry house which caters to the locals , or that’s how it seems , but dont let it put you off a visit . It’s a very basic place , decor wise , but people come here for the food . And I would come here again without no hesitation .

It was very noisy due to the patrons talking loudly. I was the only non asian there, People were milling about the counter. There were bowls of salad in a cooler on display uncovered. It wasnt fresh. I was shown a table but had to place my order of masala chicken and pilau rice at the counter where people were milling around. I took a 300 ml bottle of water from the fridge which also contained dishes of sauce.

Looked at other empty tables opposite ours and asked them to join the tables as they would anyway and were told that they had been reserved (well we made a reservation too??). Mixed grills came out and I don’t think people like the chicken much because I could bet my life on it that the chicken on our grill once belonged to another. It was stale and hard but the kebab was tender and hot. Mains was not great and I think most of my mates had stomach problems the following day. Plus side is the entertainment. People come to this place to see the waiters dance.. yes it’s funny and there will be a couple of drunk customers getting involved but to be straight to the point.... I came here for butter chicken and not a dance... if I wanted a dance I’d go to spearmint rhinos... sort the food and service out and then dance all you want.. def not recommend considering there’s a a bucket load of decent Indian restaurants 500 meters down the road on Southall broadway..

I have been visiting Desi Tadka for sometime now and food is good but nothing close to outstanding. I always found salt to be on higher side but not to the label that you can’t eat. When I visited first time it was reasonably priced but since than prices have gone up drastically and biggest concern is the quantity, which is sufficient only for 1 person literally. I paid £7.90 for Kadai Paneer and I couldn’t finish 2 rotis had I not ordered alloo gobi. It’s really appalling that they charge any amount without doing any research about the right price and quantity. Really don’t know for what they charge so much because there is no ambience either?

Went last night with friends (7 of us). Customer service is very slow and the restaurant I would say was not that busy for a Friday evening.Ordered 2 mixed grills and a couple of other starters. The starters we felt were not value for money given the amount of items that came with it. Measly sized mixed grill. The Afghani Murgh starter was nice. Also ordered the Chicken Wings. A friend tried them and found a couple that were still pink inside. Unfortunately we should have complained at the same time which we didn't. We decided on sticking around to ha e some mains given that if we have moved onto another venue it would have taken time finding somewhere, getting seated etc.4 main dishes were ordered (chicken and lamb). Not much in the way of any meat but quite a bit of sauce. Not much to go around and again not good value for money I'd say.Mentioned the poor quality and quantity of their food to a 'manager' as we were leaving but whether he took any notice given that tomorrow will be another day with more paying customers, so does he really care? Most of us left still feeling hungry and disappointed with what was meant to be a great evening catching up with friends.I don't think that I'll be visiting this establishment in a hurry regardless of what the good things some of the previous reviews say.

Great food and atmosphere for friends and family. Pure Punjabi music (sometimes a bit too loud). Waiters tend to do bhangra during meals which makes the restaurant lively. Visited today with some friends, impressed with the taste however disappointed with the quantity. Highly recommend if you prefer quality over quantity. Also difficult to get attention of the staff due to loud music in the evening. Overall it was okay.

Very bad service, waiter was drunk and kept forgetting the order. There was more oil in the bowl then food!!!!The waiters were only interested in looking at women customers then serving us. We caught one chef picking his nose and put it his mouth!!!!The restaurant looks nice, but once in there, you will experience bad service. Plus don't use their toilets

We ate in this restaurant because it was directly across the road from the hotel we was stopping in. Food is fresh and authentic and tasted great, It does not serve alcohol but from what I could see from other customers, it looks like you can bring in your own. Only let down for us was a young child belonging to a member of staff was freely running about the restaurant and was noisy at times.

Enoyed the authentic good Punjabi food here - paratha are delicous! Everything is made fresh in the open kitchen, with kebabs cooked over a smokey grill & nan breads in the tandoor oven. The punjabi manequins are a point of interest, as well as the occasional Bhangra dance performance!

This is place is only catered to men and in particular men who like to drink.I visited this place with friends over 5 years ago and was not impressed, this time around it has got worse. The food is average, poor service, too many drunks including a few staff and foul language spoken by staff.I feel for the unfortunate women taken to this place because this place is full of perverts, both staff and customers.

So I was recommended this place by another restaurant ownerThought I would try it out and this place is definitely a place to enjoy the great food compared to the rubbish that is served on the Broadway in SouthallService is very accommodating and warm. The place has a very rustic Punjab feel. It's a no frills place but the food is the reason for visiting this restaurant. They are very good at accommodating special requests and being a very fussy eater they did this with a very positive outlookThe atmosphere in the place it's very good. It is always very busy which is also a very good sign of a good restaurant I can't recommend this place enough It doesn't have an alcohol license so you can bring your own alcohol in to the restaurant. The methi chicken and chicken tikka were dishes I tried and enjoyed them very muchThe food is fresh and isn't preheated unlike establishments on the Broadway. This is what sets this place apart from the rest. The food is also rich in flavour.desk tadka comes highly recommended for those seeking a flavoursome meal in a place that atmosphere and good service

Stayed at the Hyatt Place Hotel over the road, The Desi Tadka was recommended by fellow travelers who ate there the night before. I have to say we were not disappointed, the place was full of locals (always a good sign). We had to share a table it was so busy, which was not a problem. The food was amazing, the service was fab. The price was good!

This place does Punjabi cuisine like its supposed to be. This is a no frills restaurant so don't expect table cloths and fancy cutlery. The food is fantastic and full of flavour. If you are into typical Punjabi cuisine then this place is perfect. If you want a westernised flavour of Indian food then its not for you. Even inside it has a "Dhaba" like feel to it. Will be coming back to this place.

We went with friends, even though the restaurant had one table occupied we were given the table right in front near the cooking. We objected and were able to move to a table that had not been cleaned yet. The food was okay. We were offered deserts and we all went for Kulfis. Ten minutes later we were told that the aunty that deals with deserts is not in so deserts are off. I am sure the reason was that they needed our table for a bigger party. When the bill came I presented my credit card to be told cash only as the credit card machine has not been working all day. I explained that I saw the credit card machine being used for another table only ten minutes earlier, the waiter just ignored me. I told him to put a big sign saying cash only, as I started to make fuss another told the waiter just process my credit card payment. I think if the management want to deal with cash customers only they should definitely put a sign up cash only.

I simply love this place. It's not a typical English style Indian Restaurant, rather it's humble punjabi resturant where non punjabi guests will be welcomed along side the natives of Southall. The food is closer to the style that you would expect to find being eaten in an Indian household. Personally I relish the experience of eating authentic food rather than always eating the anglesized version. The traditional dance display, that arrives without warning periodically throughout the evening, lifts the mood and enhances the experience.Alcohol is not served but you are welcome to bring drink in from the off license next door for which they are happy to provide glasses. Just remember that they will be washing up your glass when tipping.Try it you won't better the experience.

Lovely place for authentic punjabi food rather than your usual bangladeshi stuff you find on most high streets. You go to this restaurant for the food rather than the decor. However, if you are lucky, the waiter might break into song and dance!

Well, I've been to India and I have to say this restaurant is as good an experience with what I ate there, perhaps better. . You don't get white table clothes, you don't in India either. Hot food cooked to order was authentic . Its cooked at the front of the restaurant. It's not licenced, bring your own wine or beer! We had a thoroughly enjoyable time. It was full of diners, what better recommendation. We went at 8:30 and stayed till closing. Thank you. Will definitely return.

Desi Tadka always has been and still is my favourite restaurant! I've been a customer since it opened and have never been disappointed! I'm extremely fussy with Indian food but never tire of the food here. It's always hot, fresh and packed full of flavour! Not greasy, not loaded with food colouring... Just good Panjabi food!I've been with friends (groups of girls/even just two), family, work colleagues- large groups too and my then partner now husband. Everyone I've taken here has LOVED the food and atmosphere... And what an atmosphere! If you prefer it quiet then during the day is when you should visit. If you want it lively then an evening visit is a must! They also do catering. I love the food so much I booked them to cater for my pre-wedding party. Everyone loved the food; it was just as great away from the restaurant.Having moved away, whenever in town we must visit Desi Tadka... To eat in or take away. It's take your own booze... Added bonus!

When it comes to restaurants especially Indian ones, when the food is this amazing you dont care about anything else. I read people complaining about the portion sizes or the fact that you can see the chef's cooking your meal and I think that's the good thing about this restaurant. Seeing the chef's prepare your meal shows they have pride in their cooking skills and have nothing to hide. The service was actually good and it's easy to become friends with the staff and they are really friendly if you give them the chance. If you're asking for big massive portions then no this place is an Indian restaurant, and to enjoy Indian food you should order a small variety of dishes to share with friends and family, that's how we Indians eat. Everything is cooked with amazing flavour, in my opinion skip having starters just order your mains of choice with Garlic Naan and that's yourself sorted with amazing flavours left in your mouth for a while. The plates are silver metal bowls and plates that are actually used by the somewhat wealthy in India so take it as good service that you're being served with this, and they attend to your needs as much as they can. I visit all the time and my family love it

“I recently ordered dosa from Burfia in Northwood and was really disappointed with the taste. It lacked the authentic flavor and freshness I was expecting. Unfortunately, the quality did not meet my expectations, and I don’t think I’ll be ordering again. I hope they can improve the taste and overall experience for future customers.”

Anikas changed ownership in 2019, 20 years after opening in 1999. Unfortunately the new owners post 2019 have ruined the place due to poor food quality and slow service. More recently they have been closed down due to health and safety issues. The shop is currently being revamped and reopened by the original 1999 owners so keep an eye out.

Good for, service was friendly but a little aloof. Not bad for an airport stopover bite to eat.
