Ate here for the first time and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and intruiging concept of it being an “Indian tapas”. The food was obviously authentic and cooked fresh. I had the samosas, potato and spinach curry with rice, poppadom and a soda water which only cost £10 and generous portion sizes for tapas meals. Menu is small, but everything we had was great plus service was excellent. The only draw back or disappointment was the bathroom/toilet facilities. They were not really really bad, but definitely needed some cleaning attention i.e. bin was full and obviously not been emptied for a few days; toilet issues were not unsolvable but definitely needs improvement and attention.

Verdaderamente buena comida. Platos claros y sencillos. Sin pretensiones y distintivo. Me encantaron los pakora y los bhajis, y el curry de pescado vino con una cerveza complementaria porque era un lunes. Gran noche - gracias!

Just back from our first dinner at Desi. So impressed. Authentic food, nice service. Oh, and delicious cocktails. My three year old thoroughly enjoyed the food from the children's menu too. Get to Desi!

My wife and I booked ahead for a table mid week. This is more of Indian tapas restaurant, but I really have to say- the food was incredible. We shared several dishes with some sundries and I was thoroughly impressed with all them. The waitress was brilliant: the drinks came promptly, she was very knowledgeable about all the dishes and was friendly. If I had to nit pick then my only compliant would be that it only has San Miguel on tap- whereas obviously cobra or kingfisher would have been preferred. Don’t let that detract from a brilliant local eating place though

We were aware of this place for a while now but hadn’t gone in. We have now been 3 times in the last month because it’s so good and taken our friends too. We love the veg pakoras with their spicy dip. Also the fish & chicken curry are fab. We had three dishes which was perfect. Service was great too

Had a lovely meal with the wife, we are 5-6 dishes and has 2 glasses of wine for £40. You can't argue with that. Staff super friendly, fantastic food, what more could you ask for? Highly recommended

3rd visit now! Love it. Picked up a takeaway Wednesday night, had a drink while we waited. Aubergine Masala was delicious , hubby had lamb. It is our 1st choice if we want curry now. Good for meal with the girls or a quiet one with hubby.

Went here on a Monday evening in the scorching sun cos couldn’t handle a hot kitchen! Had a lovely rich dal with hits of red chilli and coriander, and a bottle of Cobra lager to wash it down. Poppadoms and chutneys to start. Nice soft chapatis and also good salty spicy tandoori chicken. With a glass of coke, the whole bill was £17. Great value and great food.

Brought my family here for a birthday meal, was really delicious and by serving them as smaller portions it gave you the opportunity to mix multiple flavours which was a great experience. As most of the food is naturally gluten free we came out feeling satisfied not stuffed (although the amount if pakoras we kept eating almost pushed us near that edge!) Was slightly crowded that day so might be worth placing a reservation like we did Really reminiscent of when I visited india, even had the little sugar coated fennel seeds served with the bill!! Will definately visit again and have had a couple of takeaways since; Honestly those pakoras!!

This was our second visit. Nothing disappointed, charming and friendly service in a very relaxed atmosphere. Our meals were superb. Between three of us we shared six dishes and all were really tasty and obviously freshly prepared. Well spiced but not too hot to enjoy. Couldn't manage a sweet so brought some home, loved those too. See you again next week!

And staffs started telling that 10pm is closing time so please vacant the restaurant by 10pm and once 10 pm was crossed they started yelling by saying that 10pm is the closing time so you should vacant the restaurant as soon as possible.

If you want an overstimulating rave whilst you eat dinner, this is your place! The food was unbelievably average, the service was good, super friendly staff so that is 5/5. However the lights continually flashing on and off, the full blast celebratory/birthday music (so loud you can’t actually speak to anyone) feels a bit over the top when you’re just trying to eat your dinner! The tables are crammed in next to each other (we had to squeeeeze in just to get into our seats, not very accessible). We managed to see the funny side (what else can you do!) but unless you’re drunk and looking for a place to be loud and rowdy, I would not recommend! Most overrated restaurant in Bristol, they clearly care more about what they look like on tik tok than the actual food or atmosphere of their restaurant!

We had a great time at Namak for my wife's surprise birthday dinner. Namak were very accommodating and somehow managed to squeeze 18 of us into a private room upstairs. The food was amazing and they were flexible with our food and drink requests. Prashant and Mayank especially took good care of us throughout the evening. Overall, it was a v fun place for her birthday celebration. Would recommend Namak if you've got a big group and want delicious food with a warm service.

Absolutely blown away by our experience at Salkaara Street. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and enthusiasm, and the atmosphere immediately set the tone for what turned out to be an incredible meal. The interior is absolutely brilliant — the walls are decorated with traditional Indian film posters, which gives the place so much charm and character. It’s vibrant, fun, and full of personality, just like the food. Let’s start with the service. Viven, our server, was outstanding. An absolute gem of a guy with a cracking mustache to match. He was attentive without being overbearing, checking in on us throughout the evening to make sure everything was spot on. It’s clear he takes pride in what he does, and that made our experience all the more enjoyable. Friendly, professional, and just a genuinely nice bloke. Now, onto the food — every single dish we had was exceptional. I started off with a mango lassi, and it was exactly what you’d hope for: cold, creamy, and incredibly refreshing. It was the perfect way to kick things off. The poppadoms arrived next with a trio of chutneys. I was especially taken with the mango and red sauce — sweet, tangy, and bursting with flavor. The mint sauce was just as good, cool and herby with a perfect balance to the spice. Honestly, I could’ve just kept eating those all evening. The Agni wings were a real highlight. Packed with flavor and heat, they had just the right amount of kick to get your tastebuds going. They were so good I found myself chewing on the bones at one point, not wanting to miss a single bit of that fiery, rich marinade. Next up, I had a lamb naan which paired beautifully with the chicken tikka I ordered. The naan was soft with a slightly crisp edge and filled with that deliciously spiced lamb. It went down an absolute treat. The chicken tikka itself was perfectly cooked — tender, juicy, and infused with that signature smoky tandoori flavor. Served with a portion of pulao rice that was fluffy, fragrant, and just the right texture, the whole dish came together beautifully. The sauce that accompanied it was rich and savory, tying everything together into a truly satisfying main course. Overall, I couldn’t be happier with the entire experience. The food was delicious, the portions generous, the ambiance vibrant, and the service absolutely top tier. A special shout out once again to Viven — if he’s not running the place, he should be. The man knows how to look after his guests and clearly takes pride in making people feel welcome and well-fed. Great food, great service, great price. Salkaara Street has definitely earned a spot on my list of favorites. I’ll absolutely be back.
