A varied interesting menu. Food was amazing and we'll presented. The desserts are to die for. Had my usual birthday Bubble and Squeak, always worth waiting for. Pop in, you won't be sorry.

Booked a table at Derwent Hall Inn today 08/09/2024 for Sunday lunch. We both ordered the chicken Sunday lunch. The dinner arrived in a very large soup plate and I immediately noted the meat was not fresh cooked chicken breast but pre bought pre cooked chicken breasts. I did ask the waiter if my vegetables could be well cooked as I don't like hard vegetables, he said no as they all come as served al dente, so I knew when he presented the dish of Broccoli, Cauliflower and carrots that I would need strong gnashers to chomp on them, they were very hard. The Yorkshire pudding was very difficult to cut through as was very rubbery. I only picked at my dinner as chicken was tough and dry and Yorkshire pudding was like chewing an elastic band. The mash and gravy was acceptable . Needless to say I was very disappointed and elected not to have a dessert as I would be expecting pre bought sweets and puddings. What a shame for such a place of great history and interest that cant cook a good "Fresh" Sunday lunch. Therefore I wont be visiting again and wont be recommending.

Only gave this place 1 star because we can't give it 0 stars. Dropped in for a drink and we're charged £18.60 for 2 G&Ts. A single Gin is apparently £3.40 and a double is £6.80. Tonic mixer charged separately at £2.50. That's £9.30 a drink. So needless to say I will be having a quiet drink elsewhere in future.

Went here as a family of 9 to celebrate a birthday. One of our party was stuck in traffic and when we explained this on arrival the staff Paul and Zoe couldn’t have been nicer about it! When our family ordered we all chose different things from the VERY comprehensive menu- the food arrived it was all piping hot and fresh- just delicious. We all agreed a 10/10 experience and would highly recommend. Thank you and well done Paul and Zoe.

We came here when we were staying on a little cottage break. It was AMAZING!! Zoey and the team deliviered the best service. Kyle was so friendly and went above and beyond to accommodate us. The food portions are mega and so much value in the dishes. Honestly couldn’t get over how delicious the chicken curry was. We would go back again in a heart beat if it wasn’t over 200 miles away. It would be worth it though.

Shocking disgrace, arrived with family in order to enjoy a family get-together only to be greeted with men at the bar spouting the most vile disgusting language, the ' C!!!! Celebrating a family birthday so booked our table for 6pm in the conservatory. Lovely table near to a window and attended to quickly. All orders received within 20 minutes, so happy with that. Large portion sizes and very hot food. A little disappointed with the accompanying vegetables provided, quite hard to chew, but otherwise a good meal.

Nice food but there is a major downside to this pub. It attracts drunken yob types. On our recent visit the clientele were loud, yobbish types shouting foul language and a fight started in the bar area. The staff are friendly and pleasant but fail to deal with completely inappropriate behaviour. Not the place I'd take children. On a Saturday night it was empty apart from the drunken yobs, many of which got into their cars and drove away even though they could barely stand. This business needs to realise not tackling this sort of customer base will kill the business. A country pub on a Saturday should be full, but the yob behaviour has kept customers away, us included. Such a shame.

This is a Traditional no frills pub close to the Derwent walk. Great for people out walking, as you don't have to worry about wet muddy footwear and clothes. I sat next to the real coal fire, which on a chilly day was lovely. Dogs are made to feel welcome and are offered bowls of water. The choice of food seemed limitless, I had the Bubble and Squeak. It was tasty but there was too much of it and I had to leave some, much to my disgust. The only criticism, was that they could not offer soya milk to my friends and did not have any gluten free puddings.

A huge thanks to Trisha and the team for providing me and my family with such a lovely Sunday lunch last week! I contacted Trisha a few days ahead about a vegan option and she pulled out all the stops and made me a vegan apricot nut roast with a tomato coulis and load of veg, which was DIVINE! My family (all meat-eaters) said it was the best Sunday lunch they had had in ages! And the service was warm and friendly too! Really looking forward to sampling your food again! <3 <3
