Denis Turkish & Mediterranean Restaurant in Cherwell

I've been to this restaurant twice now and both times the food and service were exemplary. The waiting staff are very friendly and very attentive to make sure you're able to fully enjoy the experience, and we were lucky enough to get to say hello to the chef, Robert, who is friendly and cooks a mean mixed grill (and a rather good rice pudding), what more can you ask for? If you're in Bicester (or even if you're not!) this is definitely a restaurant to try out.

I've been going to Denis restaurant for over 10 years. The food and drinks are always very tasty. The restaurant is clean, the tables well-dressed, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. The prices are acceptable and the variety is wide. Possibly, the best, if not joint-best (nod to Copper Kitchen), restaurant in Bicester.

Me and my partner are regular visitors and every time we go or we recommend our friends this restaurant is a very pleasant and superb experience! Not only the food… the service, the kindness, the ambience… everything makes this place unique!!! Highly recommend the lentils soup, the lamb Shank, and any dessert alongside a great turkish coffee or tea!!!

I gave 1 star for the atmosphere. Reason for this was the floor manager being petty and telling off our server over something trivial in front of customers. Very unprofessional. The floor manager was an embarrassment to the business. Our server was really nice and didn't deserve that level of bullying.

Lovely place, lovely food, lovely staff

Went for my mums 60th and it was amazing, really hospitable and great with the kids and food was fantastic. If we're ever in the area again we'd definitely go back :)

Fantastic food and service. The waitress, owner, and chef were all happy to talk and were very informative about the food and drink available. The borek starter was amazing, our chicken mains might be the best chicken I've ever had, and I could've put away pints of the sutlac. Worth the walk from Bicester Village and then some.

We were here today and the food was really good. The service was also great, they were really friendly. Would come back for sure. If you are at the bicester village just visit Denis.

April 2024 won a Mezze lunch at a craft fair, just shows how community minded they are to donate the prize. Thank you. Utterly delicious as always and excellent service. Previously we've had a fabulous Christmas lunch with not a Christmas carol in sight! Everything was beautifully prepared and presented and all at a very reasonable price.

It is one of the nicest places to have great Turkish food. Highly recommended.

We ordered lamb shish and chicken wings with rice, I don't really give reviews but I have to say it was soo dry and was abit burnt I had to chuck it away. Never again

Despite the bustling atmosphere, the restaurant was efficiently staffed with three attentive individuals who catered to our every need promptly and with a smile. The level of customer service here is unparalleled, coupled with a charming venue and top-tier culinary offerings. It leaves little to be desired. If only all restaurants operated with the same dedication and passion, as evident in this family-run gem.

Not the least expensive place I have eaten in by far however the food was excellent, service great and a nice atmosphere too. The whole experience was well worth the cost and I would happily eat here again.

- Grilled lamb chops with bone in taste fantastic!!! 😍 I highly recommend it! - Falafels with salad and tzatziki are also very tasty 👍🏻 - Baklava is very good and not too sweet 🤩 - Only the squids were not what we expected, but we forgive this imperfection considering the delicious main courses 😋 Everything was served very nicely and quickly. The service was excellent - always nearby and not overbearing. Way to go! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 And the nice owner even said a few words to us in Polish 😁

Best Turkish meal. Great, comfortable place with a bubbly ambience. Honestly felt like I had been invited in to somebody’s home for a celebration. Food was amazing and incredible value - and the staff were so friendly and helpful. My local now! Looking at other tables there are a lot of dishes for me to explore!

Came here recently for lunch with my partner & 91 year old grandmother. Lovely Turkish food enjoyed by all, couldn't fault it. Very happy to accommodate grandmother in a wheelchair too & had all sorts of food to suit your tastes. Prices very reasonable.

Always a pleasure to dine at Denis. I always have fillet beef which chef cooks to perfection and delivers to our table personally. It’s the little touches that are always appreciated but sometimes overlooked! Went there for the wife’s belated birthday meal postponed from last week, but Metin remembered our booking and wished the wife happy birthday! Thank you for a lovely evening as always!

Food was ok. It really wasn't what we were expecting. We eat in many incredible Greek and Turkish restaurants in london. This was very basic. Clean and well presented. The waitress was attentive and welcoming.

We popped in for a quick lunch on a Friday. Ordered only a main course which was more than enough . Quite a large portion, well presented, which I couldn't finish. Service was really good. Attentive but not overbearing. Atmosphere was as you would expect at lunchtime. Overall a really good experience.

I took my sons in for lunch and we loved everything we ordered. The staff was wonderful and the place was beautiful! Will be back.

Beautiful restaurant, lovely food and friendly waitress/ staff. Meat was cooked to perfection. Next time we will go a bit later in the hope there will be less children (lots of shouting & screeching, kids running around, etc.). This was my only grumble, we were celebrating our wedding anniversary and maybe would have stuck around for dessert if it wasn't for the noise. Will come again but will book for later in the evening.

Summary: highly recommend if you are in the area and looking for a high calibre and reasonably priced meal. You won't be disappointed. We stumbled upon this lovely restaurant after writing off the hotel bar for dinner. The place was on the busy side for a Sunday dinner service when the town was absolutely still. We were warmly greeted by the staff. The menu was swiftly delivered but it took a while for us to get their attention to place the order. Meze platter was full of various flavours, a fresh and delightful start. Mains followed swiftly. The mixed grill was excellent. Each type of meat was of a good cut, charred on the outside and cooked just right. Moussaka had creamy bechamel and delicious lamb ragu. Everything tasted homemade. Unfortunately another table ordered the last baklava and so we ordered the apple tart instead. Gentle tartness of the apple soothed with vanilla ice cream, cinnamon and crispy flaky pastry base. My friend had the house red which she said was very easy to drink. Great experience. Would 100% visit again next time we are in Bicester.

We had a wonderful meal here last week with a group of us girls. The service is second to none and everything is so professional. I love the crisp white tablecloths and napkins making everything fresh and clean. It has a lovely ambiance and feels relaxing. The food is really exceptional, it’s a proper treat! We all had different dishes and they were all so good and of a very high standard. We’re looking forward to coming back again.

We've visited Denis numerous times and we've always left with plans to go back again soon. There is a lovely atmosphere, the waiters and waitresses are attentive and polite, as are the owners. The food is delicious with generous portions. A must visit!

We had dinner there today and after reading the reviews we were looking forward for delicious Turkish food. Our party of 4 had a good table. The atmosphere was a little too kitschy and tacky for my taste but of course it’s not that important. The food was good, nothing earthshadering but what was really upsetting was the waitress/staff. Everything took so long. It took her forever to take our order. The food came and even though I ordered my Iskender without yogurt it came with yogurt. Then we asked for an ayran and it never came. Again the food was not bad but the waitstaff was not friendly and inattentive. When the plates were taken I said that we would like some coffee or tea but nobody came to take our order or even asked if we would like some desserts. So we just paid and left and really didn’t like the whole experience. So sorry but we will definitely not come back, there are plenty of good Turkish restaurants to choose from in the area.

Visit the restaurant 11.8 .23 restaurant was clean service on top level absolutely fantastic . Food,we have starter with was quite large end generous humus was on another level never eaten so well tasted one so would be nice vegetarian option with courgette. Lamb chops fantastic well satisfied. Restaurant was fairly priced and friendly.

Delicious clean food that tasted like home cooking and good service

Disappointing. Mixed starter was ok but main course was not. A shish-kebab should be on a skewer. My meat looked like it had only been (over)cooked on a griddle and not seen either a skewer or a charcoal grill. The presentation was far too fancy for my taste. “Posh” rice and a huge chilli pepper was very out of place. Fortunately, manager understood our concerns and refunded our main courses.

The restaurant's decor is a bit old The food is very normal, there is no food Hummus and bananas are delicious The rest is very normal The service is excellent But I wouldn't recommend it unless you're coming to Easter and miss the restaurants.

Cosy family run Turkish restaurant near Bicester Village outlet. Lovely owners who constantly checked on us and made sure we were happy with our meal. The quality of the meat was amazing and the portion size was great. The standout dish for me was the iskender (lamb cubes on bread, drizzled with butter yoghurt and tomato) as well as the koftes in the mixed platter. Very juicy, flavoursome and filling. Special shout-out to the salad - everything was cut so fine and the dressing was amazing! All in all highly recommend if you’re hungry after a long day of shopping!

Lovely Mediterranean style food and generous portions. But get a side order of vegetables with your meat dishes as, firstly you might well want them and secondly the grilled veg are simply fabulous!

We were here for my wife's birthday and we had an absolute wonderful experience, our first time visiting Denis and something we're never forget. The food was delicious with so much favour, the staff were so friendly. We highly recommend Denis and will be back there ourselves in the future.

This is the very best restaurant in Oxfordshire. The food, the service, and the atmosphere are absolutely amazing. The owner talks to everyone and makes sure everything is perfect without being prissy. The food is delicious, more than delicious. The service is attentive without being too much. If you allergies or want something particular, they will do their utmost to fulfil and provide. I could rabbit on for hours, but in short, this is a great restaurant with high standards and a friendly atmosphere and ..... amazing food!

Excellent birthday meal out last night. Great atmosphere, polite and prompt service without being hurried at all and the food was delicious.

Nice restaurant. Food is all very well presented and fresh. The homemade bread and hummus for the table is wonderful and something to nibble on before starters. The Turkish Meze Platter is a good quality starter for two. Most of the starters were fresh and flavourful. The only slight disappointment within was the calamari which was small and lacking taste. The lamb was extremely well presented and had ample meat on the bone, more than we could handle with a starter. The Chicken Guvec was slightly disappointing, lacking a little bit of flavour and overpowered by tomato. In contrast, the desserts were full of flavour and promptly delivered after the main. Staff very friendly, helpful and attentive. Word of warning, do not park on the single or double yellow lines on the high street outside the restaurant. The street IS attended at night and we see about 10 parking tickets being handed out whilst walking too and from the restaurant. Be warned. The Pioneer Square car park is run by Sainsbury’s and limited to two hours parking. It is maned by ANPR and gives you an exit time on entry. We parked along the Victoria Road Car Park, a street round the back of the high street, which only a few minutes walk to the restaurant. At the time of writing this review, Victoria Road parking was free after 6PM.

Always incredible service and fabulous food. Our go-to for special occasion meals.

Been here a few times now and always feel there is a rush to get you served and out the door as quickly as possible despite making reservations, presumably to allow for the walk-ins on either a Friday or Saturday. During the week it is more relaxed. The seafood dishes are always overcooked. Best dishes are either the mixed grill or the liver.

The food is absolutely delicious, fresh and beautifully presented. The staff are very friendly whilst professional and although we were delayed and lost, held our table and gave us easy directions over the phone. Also, spotlessly clean with proper table cloth and napkins. Wish we lived closer as it would be a regular favourite restaurant! Superb.

Highly enjoyable lunch for four. The food was delicious - particularly enjoyed the mixed mezze and my iskender main. Normally would have gone for a traditional dessert but couldn't resist trying deep fried ice cream... Attentive service, quick but not rushed, cozy and clean surroundings. Bill came to £131 before tip which wasn't bad at all. Would definitely visit again if I'm passing.
