Demiro's in Cardiff

Do NOT order the welsh beef burger. It is absolutely awful. Hard and awful tasting. Imagine a really cheap nasty burger and then times it by 10000. Dropped in with no booking tonight on the way to the theatre. Had to leave the theatre early as this meal made me ill.

Service. Wine. Food was all exceptional. So tasty! Will 💯 return!!

We are coming to here every Christmas. They have nice decorations and live music.

Bit of a shambolic experience which was highly disappointing. Only two of us but even from the get go when I said I had booked they had no clue and just sat us any way. I repeatedly said we had pre ordered food but were persistent until they double checked with the chef. My starters and mains were so gorgeous though and the food presentation was amazing. I’m annoyed at the sherry trifle being essentially just a bowl of cream. There was a thin and I mean thin layer of trifle. Three quarters of the bowl was cream. Waiters kept lingering and checking which considering the restaurant was dead made me feel rushed and uncomfortable. Not once was there a check back though to ensure everything was good. Just linger and look if we were done with food. Really disappointing visit considering this has been my go to restaurant if we are down the bay.

We took advantage of the special deal before a matinee across the road at the Millennium Centre. We both chose the same main, which came very quickly and was a tasty wrapped and stuff chicken breast. The profiteroles for pudding were also very good. Service was quick and easy even though it got a bit busier later on and the location and price were ideal. Definitely recommended if you want some quick, tasty and good value before a matinee.

Lunch with friends, always a warm welcome, great service, staff really friendly and accommodating, lunch worth waiting for as it was busy, it’s Christmas and whilst enjoying our favourite wine it was lovely enjoying the Christmas spirit, food was really good, cooked to high standard, deserts delish, overall highly recommend, thanks to all for making out Christmas lunch a great day.

We eat here before a show. The food was ok but quite pricey and small portions. Also toilets felt like they needed an upgrade. Finally, no singers… so atmosphere wasn’t as it used to be and what we were hoping for, before the show. On the positives… the location is great, inside decor is indulgent and the services was quick (maybe too quick) and friendly. * always a bit suspicious when food comes out so quick.

Lovely comfortable place with friendly staff. However we sat there for 4 hours to get a starter and a main, with a baby to keep entertained. Food was very bland and also very small potions.

We went in May for a birthday and it was great. Singing waiters which added to the atmosphere and the food was very good, so we thought we would try it again for a birthday. No singing waiters this time and we waited an hour and a half for food and when it eventually arrived it was not good. It was barely warm and the chips were stone cold and some were black. The only good meal was the carbonara but nothing else. It was obvious they were struggling with staff and we noticed several diners sending their food back. We did not pay the full bill on agreement with them and we will not go back again.

The food is great with a varied selection, though the vegetable portions are small (Rack of Lamb pictured, minus a smaller carrot piece I had already eaten). The Faggots portions are generous, though. The staff are lovely and helpful, and even set a place with biscuits/treats and water for my dog. The atmosphere is great, with a live singer for entertainment (not always, so do check beforehand). I have visited many times and I'm sure I'll be back there soon.

Food - Had a salmon, that felt really defrosted and overcooked. Also boiled asparagus… expected grilled / pan fried… overall really overpriced. Service - could be better, not very experienced staff, some minor mistakes. Atmosphere - overall nice.

Eight of us went here on Saturday 14th September, 2024, and had a fab time. The food, atmosphere and staff was first class and the prices were good. Particular thanks to our waiter, Joeseph, and all other staff - they were friendly, efficient and welcoming. Would highly recommend and we will be going back.

Visited this restaurant whilst on visit to Cardiff Bay. Extremely quiet (only 2 other groups whilst we were there) despite being a very big restaurant. Meal was really nice and waitress very friendly. Only criticism was that the toilet was not as clean as I would have expected

Absolutely shocking! We should have known the food was going to be bad when our wine was corked and the lemonade was flat. We opted for the 3 course menu. The starters were very small but passable but it all went down hill from there. The steaks, despite being asked how we would like it cooked, were overcooked, barely warm and unable to chew. The seafood pasta was supposed to be in a creamy sauce but instead came out spicy tomato with rubbery prawns and calamari and as for the seabass it had a slimy skin and week old potatoes. We left everything as it was not edible and we were so worried as the waiter was enjoying feeing pigeons on his hands outside our window and then we watched him come in and bring our plates over to us without washing his hands! Dire food and hygiene standards. So disappointing as it still cost us £70! Avoid at all cost!

Waiter was very friendly. Menu was fine with choice for all. Starters were tasty. We waited a long time between starters and mains. Mains were ‘fine’. No fresh vegetables were served with the chicken dish as stated on the menu. Restaurant was cold. We wouldn’t return in a rush.

Extremely overpriced £4.50 a handful of frozen chips. Tiny portions food is extremely average still hungry after eating and feeling down wasted my money. Decor is quite tacky too.

My family and I used to come here over 10 years ago and stopped in the last 2/3 years because we thought it wasn’t as good as it once was. Partner and I decided to give it a second chance, and were let down. Food was good, but waited for half an hour to get dessert. When handed the dessert menu, there was mould all over it! According to my partner the hand driers in the bathroom were also mouldy. The restaurant is still advertised as having singing waiters, but we had none of that - and didn’t for the last few visits either. It used to be beautiful here but unfortunately it’s absolutely unclean and not worth it anymore.

Visited twice in a week with my Aunty, very attentive service and nothing was to much trouble. The meals were spot on and my personal dietary requested were spot on. I look forward to my next theatre visit so I can enjoy another meal

My family had an amazing afternoon at the restaurant…from start to finish, very warm welcome at the reception, staff were patient and pleasant as we had two young ones with us…. The food was to perfection, 3 steaks cooked as liked, bolognaise was delish and my chicken tender….children very happy with their menu…smiles all around, Thank you Demiro’s for making our celebrations special 👏👏👏 highly recommend and will visit again 👍👍

Family of 5, myself, husband (dairy allergy) , 15 year old (veggi), 14 year old and 11 year old. Staff were very helpful with our food allergies and veggi who doesn’t eat vegetables. Service was good and the food was fantastic, our family is very hard to please so when everyone enjoyed it’s a winner. Will definitely be returning. 10/10 🙌

Had drinks in the outside bar, great music this night provided by a lovely man playing the steel drums… atmosphere was fantastic drinks were flowing nicely, then on to a 3 course meal in the restaurant, waited on by kaseem , great service great food absolute the best we’ve had in a long time. Highly recommend absolute 1st class .

Very poor service quality. Ordered a bruschetta but it was way too soggy and full of onions... Sent it back. Then I asked for my steak to be cooked medium: I got a well done one, with still all the liquids, which means that it wasn't left to rest and dry. Let's not talk about the portion of it (supposed to be 6oz, which clearly weren't!!!). Asked for the bill and I noticed that the bruschetta was on it and when I asked if I was really paying for a product I sent back, the lady, which I believe being the manager, replied that "I ordered it and it was my choice if I didn't like it"! Didn't even asked any question about the reason! And above of all of it, it was overpriced: just paid and left. Absolutely zero customer service and not recommended at all!

Really lovely helpful staff, I had abit of a problem and they sorted it straight away. Lovely food, a tad over priced for the portion size but very tasty all the same.

We came here tonight for the first time. It was to celebrate my Mom’s birthday. We booked it yesterday and everything was perfect. Food, staff and atmosphere. Some very nice touches that made the evening very special. We would definitely recommend .

Recommended the ribeye steak and chicken demiros we also ordered the garlic mushroom & onion rings as a side got to be said it was one of the most tasteful meals I've had in a very long time my partner is a very fussy eater an she couldn't stop saying how lovely her chicken was cooked we will definitely be back for more !!

I e mailed in advance to enquire about glueton free options so did my friend but no one got back to us so I rang to ensure they had options before booking I was told yes. When we arrived the waiter gave my friend details of the glueton free ones she chose pasta but he came back and said it was off the menu she selected chicken he came back again to say chicken to say there was glueton in the gravy. She could only have fish or steak so just make sure you clarify before eating.

This is a posh restaurant with nice deco. However the customer service is poor. We were seated with menu very quickly. However we had to wait for nearly 20 minutes to order food, and that’s after I went up to the waiter near the entrance to get the attention. We then waited for long time, nearly 10 minutes to get the bill. We had kids meal, sea bass and salmon with asparagus for mains. The taste is average, nothing special. But what stands out is the exceptionally small portion! The sea bass we had is only half a side of fillet, so 1/4 fillet of whole fish. You would expect normal main course to come with some tomatoes, usually a couple of roast potatoes or cubed baked potatoes. But here they only give you a few slices of fried potatoes. Unbelievable! I’m only size 10 slim built and I’m not full after having the main course. So I can’t imagine this would be sufficient for a man. Disappointing food and service with a high price tag. Avoid!

From the table and chairs covers to the menu, and the way the food was served, everything was very dated.... I felt like I was eating food on the Titanic! Food was ok. I had rack of lamb that was cooked well, but it was served with gravy, very old school. Wife had pasta that was bland and pasta was overcooked and soggy. The thing that annoyed me the most was the wine! We ordered the bottle of Chardonnay at £33 to be brought a not so chilled bottle of yellow tail, that had clearly been bought from the Tesco around the corner for £7. That's shocking

Had a wonderful meal as usual. I always come to this restaurant when visiting Cardiff Bay. I have never been disappointed. I enjoy the atmosphere also with the straw unberellas and great music. A welcoming happy atmosphere. Would definitely recommend ✨️

So dissapointed! As a full time carer I was looking forward to a lovely afternoon out, it didn't get off to a good start when my friend and I arrived, and they couldn't find our name, felt like they didn't believe we'd booked, then our name was spotted, at the top of the page, it was the first name on the booking sheet. A large group of other ladies began to arrive, as we stood in front of the the lady dealing with our booking she told the waiter, "Put this two on 28" as if we were parcels or something. The waiter told her he couldn't do this as the table was still occupied by the 11 o'clock booking! The lady told him to hurry them up. My friend and I were told to "sit there" and indicated to a table squeezed right next to the front door, where the queue of 40 or more women were waiting to enter. We had to wait for them to be seated, then we were shown to a small table in the corner. As we sat down, I was disgusted to see the black table cover was covered in stains. We didn't want to make a fuss because of how we were made to feel when we arrived,instead we turned the table cover over. We ordered drinks but we were brought the wrong order. The food, chicken and spaghetti, tasted good but the chicken was tough and not restaurant standard. The saving grace was a singing waiter he had a lovely voice. We didn't stay as planned for drinks, coffee and dessert, we were made to feel that because it was just two of us, we didn't matter, the larger group were given presidence. This experience really spoilt the afternoon.

Amazing food and service 1st time visit and will be back again

We came here for dinner in a group of 13 with 4 families. We sat in a set of connecting tables in 4 groups as we told the waiter upfront that we would be splitting the bill. Sitting in groups already would make it more feasible. The waiter said he just needed to know what to charge later. Little did I know what that really means. After dinner and with about 15 min of attempts of eye contacts and flagging, just like when we waited to order, we finally got his attention. He gave us one bill and asked us to tell him exactly how to split the bill while I found his tone rather patronizing. Then, he disappeared for about another 10 min before coming back to expect us to specify the amounts of each bill. To say the least, of all the restaurants I have dined in around the world, I have never been given a bill by a waiter and requested to do itemized calculation to split the bill myself, despite the ease of seat arrangement and clear communication of bill splitting made right upfront. It won't happen in even a family diner in a small town, but in this overpriced restaurant located in Cardiff Bay. When asked for receipts, he requested us to take pictures of the bills by ourselves. Regarding the overall dining experience, it is relentlessly poor and disappointing. First, it took us a long time to get the waiter's attention to place order. Once food was served, we had never seen the waiter again until we asked for the bill. During dinner, we needed to look for another waiter to get our glasses refilled with water. Ravioli was undercooked with the edges merely tasted dry and hard. We needed to ask the other waiter to take it back to kitchen to recook. Mussels were dry and tiny. The only star I gave here is to the entertainment; otherwise the experience here was so horrible that I won't even give any star. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone who expect any decent customer service and reasonable prices. We could have paid half the price somewhere else, but with faster service and better quality.

Welcomed by a lovely waiter. Service was great. Waiter provided two menus standard and lunchtime special 3 courses for £22 started with prawn cocktail which was standard, I had sirloin was was tasty but obviously reduced size due to discounted menu, finished with sherry truffle, couldn’t taste any sherry but was refreshing. Wife had prawn cocktail and pollo napoletano which was beautiful. Overall average but good quality.

Went to the little shed/bar opposite that is owned by the restaurant, absolutely brilliant night and amazing atmosphere

Met Kimberley at her and her sisters establishment as a small group celebrating a 40th she took time to make us feel special and her love of dogs shows that this is a special lady . So rare to have such generous , considerate and personal service these days , I look forward to coming back

An unplanned night out for food and we were impressed with the menu that was available to view outside. Adam the waiter (multitasking hero) was superb! Made the whole experience. Was friendly, polite, down to earth and could tell that making people enjoy their experience at Demiro's was his number one priority. Have told friends and family what a lovely place this is and cannot wait to go back!

Myself and my partner came here this evening, first time visiting Demiros and it was amazing! The staff were outstanding, the food was excellent and the atmosphere was great, they have music playing in the background which is a bonus! Also the view is so lovely! We will definitely be going back :)

Picked food from their 3 course Sunday lunch menus. Very quiet despite time of day. Excellent service. Food was well presented. There were two of us. We also had a bottle of house wine - expensive at £24.95 for a bottle that could be obtained in supermarkets for around £8/9. Liqueur Caribbean coffees were very good.

The food wasn't bad but not excellent. Ordered ravioli. It arrived in 20 minutes. Busy theatre crowd so the service was as good as they could manage. We should have gone elsewhere.

Place was empty yes red flag but still decided to eat ordered sea bass with salted pots it was disgusting and not sea bass said with lemon butter it was tater sauce pots were old stale and burnt . Chicken diane was not diane sauce pots were disgusting don't waste your time or money here

Fabulous evening at Demiros, food and service 1st class!

Food was good but service bad. We got one course from the Prie fixe menu served to us in about 75 minutes and had to leave for a show without dessert. Others were even worse off .

100% Better than Miller &Carter and Angus steak house in London. Had prawn cocktail for starters. Fresh prawns and presented perfectly. 6oz steak medium rare. (ACTUALLY MEDIUM RARE like it should be) not 1 bit of fat either. Customer service top notch not harassing every minute. Really enjoyed the restaurant and food was AMAZING!!! Very fussy steak fan. Music was just right also....... Will definitely be returning.

A lovely Valentines evening at Demiros. The place was decorated with red heart balloons everywhere. Great atmosphere with live singer. Attentive waiters. Food served quickly. Well done to all the staff!

Extremely poor service, the chef even said that he dont care about the customer reviews and even said people who ordered well done steak are pure idiots. They were hugely racist and held views against us as asians, strong racial hate！

Overcrowded, no room to move, waiters banging into you at every pass by. A rehearsal for a show was happening so you couldn't really talk as it was so loud. If we had been told when we booked we would have gone elsewhere. steak was all gristle, poor portions compared to a previous visit. Had Eton mess for dessert.... Had 4 blueberries and half a raspberry. Very poor. Apparently if tips are paid on a card as part of your bill they are not passed on to staff. We gave cash. Staff work hard work in difficult surroundings. No repeat visit for us

A fantastic restaurant very well run by Margaret and Kimberly. Always a great selection of food on the menu, plenty of seating and helpful , knowledgeable staff. A wonderful location down Cardiff Bay, every visit has been excellent. Highly recommended.

TLDR... Avoid. Did a quick search online of the menu, the prices and dish listings gave me hope... Atmosphere of a benidorm 'english' grub restaurant. Table reserved for 5pm orders taken at 5.10 So far so good. We have a show at 7 at the millennium center. It is currently 6.50 and no sign of food. I'm begining to question the reviews above 3* on here as even if the food arrived an hour after you ordered I doubt it's quality would make up for such a delay. When we asked the waiter why was there such a delay... "Your food is on the way, it's because we want it all served at the same time." I've heard him say this to a number of patrons by now... I'm no logistical expert of culinary practice but nearly 2 hours for a rare steak and lamb rack, seems quite excessive. And im no fine diner, by any means. But ive paid half as much for finer service, in lesser known establishments in Cardiff. and the food arrived in under 20 minutes with multiple courses and better quality...

Tables are very close together. Food was delicious once you got served. The starters were wrong so then had to wait again for it to be redone then the mains were wrong too!!! It is so loud in there I don’t think the waiter could hear but he gave the impression all was ok. When the bill came they tried to charge us for the meals they brought to us in error and not the actual ones we eventually got.

Booked my daughters birthday for 10 people at5.30pm, were seated straight away but no drink order or food order taken till 6.10. Still waiting for food at 7.15 only came 10 mins later after complaining and then not the right food 2 of us ate what we were giving because we didnt want to wait any longer, people arriving after us already leaving after having their meal. Waiter apologised for the wait and offered free desserts only then to be told half the desserts were not available. Will not be returning.

I went there for the first time tonight and had their set three- course meal before going to the theatre.They also offer a set two - course and then many other dishes besides. We both had prawn cocktail to start, then I had seabass with sliced potatoes in their skins and asparagus whilst my niece had the steak Diane ( about £2.00+ extra), with chips and vegetables.We finished with Eton Mess and each course was delicious. The table and chairs looked pristine in black and white, and our window seat was delightful! I was delighted with the whole experience..the decor is fantastic with lots of lights ( one big, beautiful chandelier) and a warm, theatrical ambience. The meal was delicious and not overly expensive, and our waiter was attentive and very efficient. The service was rapid, and he was charming. The washrooms were immaculate! On the way out, we met two lovely ladies and an equally friendly dog. The former were the owners of the restaurant, and they seemed delighted to hear that we would definitely be going again. Thanks to everyone.

We arrived in plenty of time so we could have a nice meal before a show opposite the plaza. It took 40 mins between 1st & 2nd course. Main was small & we left hungry. Overpriced too. We went for the singing waiter experience which didn’t exist. Don’t know if this has changed ownership but it is not the experience we had a few years ago. Staff were friendly but sadly we will not go back.

Do not go here. Attended for a Christmas Day meal. The service was awful from the staff, rude and took over 2.5 hours between starters. No apologies. Food cold and inadequate portions. The entire party cost over £700. Drugs found in toilet and patrons not discouraged from smoking weed directly outside of the premise. Which filled the restaurant with a certain smell. Awful awful experience, rang back to discuss with management and was told there will be no compensation with no real concern or care. Beyond disappointed and unhappy with this restaurants service and attitude. Stay away.

Visited in the hope of having food prior to theatre tickets. Hadn’t booked. The staff were extremely obliging and helpful. We had food and it was made extremely quickly. Excellent quality food and brilliant atmosphere. Would definitely recommend a visit and we’ll Be back even if we don’t have theatre tickets.

Never been before, never will again. They used to have a good name so we thought give it a go. 3 children and 2 adults. The first thing I saw, was a very expensive bottle of wine that I drink at home, which was £30 in the restaurant! One child ordered spag bol -absolutely tasteless!, one had rack of lamb with chips - consisted was 3 small chops , and the third had carbonara. The description of carbonara was ‘with bacon ‘ . Quarter way through, she said the ham tasted funny, so we all tried it and it can only be described as squishy. I then separated one piece and pushed it with a spoon and it turned into a paste like substance. My steak was a terrible cut of meat, full of gristle and silver skin. My wife’s chicken and pasta was awful too. When quizzed about the ham/bacon in the carbonara, I said it’s like tinned ham/spam and he said that’s what they use!! We ate what we could, as we had gone without a meal all day, and looked forward to a nice evening meal. Paid , left and will never return.

Ich war in kleinem Bar gegenüber gewesen, der sieht wie kleines Häuschen aussieht. Die Ambiente ist toll. Alles schön Weihnachtlich geschmuckt, dazu kommt richtige Musik (gestern sogar live). When for Christmas Day dinner, it wasn’t great - the place had an atmosphere like a football match. We were a group of nine. One of the group left early as the music was way too loud. It can’t be the same on normal days I am sure, however the place was packed and the kitchen was overloaded and couldn’t cope. Food was 5 course we didn’t have third as it didn’t come out and it took so long we didn’t stay for the fifth. We sat down at 3:30 and main meal didn’t come until 6:00 pm. Positives - the singer was good and the waiters friendly but the organisation was a shocker. No, no, never again .
