I was a visitor to the area and this, my first experience with Delta, came from a local's recommendation. It was tremendous. I ordered food for a party of 11, and it was all ready for collection exactly when promised. Everything was hot, tasty and very delicious. (Even the spinach which is not always my favourite!) Staff were friendly and helpful. It beats my local Indian takeaways by a country mile.

We are very longstanding, if irregular, customers of Delta ... and we have lived locally for decades. We don't order a carry-out very often, but would never go anywhere else! Despite the cycle-lane road-works, which caused access problems for a period of months, we're delighted to see Delta is still thriving.

Ordered a shahi chasni chicken and it was terrible, really bland tasting with garden peas in it. Looked like a British stew rather than Indian curry. Called to advise the shop and was told I was making it up and to go away, they don’t put peas in a chasni and was given abuse by the owners. Terrible food with nasty staff! Worst chasni I’ve ever had.

We have been ordering from the Delta for over 20 years and the food and service are always exceptional. Portions are generous, tasty and the meat always succulent. Staff are friendly and efficient - most of them have been there for years too, which tells you something. Has to be one of the best Indian takeaways in Edinburgh! Recommend the set meal for two (can last two nights if you're not to greedy)!

Sadly my regular Indian is closed due to illness. I couldn’t remember why I stopped going to the Delta, until now. My chicken jalfrezi was bland and tasteless. Chicken had no texture. My misses had lamb buhna, the lamb was tender and lovely however tasteless yet again. £24.90 for two dishes with paella rice and a garlic nan 🤬. I would like to say, the nan was banging 👍🏽. I’ll never be back

Decided to pick up food as used years ago and was exceptionally good, after this evenings I won’t return or recommend to anyone. The food was bland, meats were dry,Nan bread was solid in the centre to the stage of uneatable and the starter could have been a reheating microwave job! An hour after the food I started to feel sick. My partner has just woke with stomach pains and constant sickness. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!

We live locally and get lots of takeaways. We go here regularly. Delta is consistently good quality. Paneer is homemade. Portions are huge and incredibly good value. The aubergine Bhaji side dish is amazing. Such an accomplished dish for little more than the price of a coffee in a cafe. I don’t know how they do it. Really nice people running it too. Can confirm that there has been no deterioration in my experience in the last 7 years I’ve been going. I’m aware the rival takeaways often post bad reviews, so read between the lines.

Disappointing. We waited over an hour, which we were expecting, but after the food was delivered we noticed a dish was missing. Phoned the restaurant and had to wait the same amount of time again to get the missing dish. All the other food was obviously cold by the time it came. It shouldn’t be hard the get people’s order right. This isn’t a cheap takeaway and I wouldn’t recommend it

When you order it from Delta apparently. I was staying on Roseburn street for a few weeks and have eaten here twice the first time I had a fish pakora and Garlic Chilli chicken which was nothing special but an acceptable average take out (even though I had to go back and get my Naan which had been forgotten). However the second visit was a shocker as my Jalfrezi was quite simply bits of Chicken Tikka thrown in a bland sauce with some sliced chillis chucked on top. The only reason this is a 2 star review is because the chicken tikka was at least edible. I had also ordered the fish pakora a 2nd time which this time round was just a greasy mess in to much batter, I am guessing I may have got lucky the first time. If you find yourself staying in this part of the city I strongly recommend finding somewhere else to eat, even if it is just a take out as the options are limited and poor.

We have been using the Delta for over 20 years and would rarely go anywhere else. Last night we ordered our usual dishes including a mixed tandoori. The food was delivered promptly but it was not the usual standard we have enjoyed all these years. It was very salty, the mixed tandoori particularly to the extent is was inedible which is a shame since it is the most expensive dish on the menu. Has the chef changed? I think we will be trying other restaurants from now on.

I ordered a takeaway for collection this evening from Delta Roseburn. When I got home I realised there was no garlic nan with my order. On phoning to complain I was simply told I’d be given a free one next time. I had to explain that as i’d already paid in the first instance then it wouldn’t be free. On to the meal, starters of lamb sheesh kebab and a king prawn puri. The sheesh kebab was rock hard and inedible. It was dry and over cooked and cold to the touch. I wondered if it had been pre cooked. It certainly wasn’t cooked fresh. No justices emanating when cut open. The king prawn puri had one king prawn inside which had been cut in half. It had no flavour whatsoever and was just a folded garbled mess of chapati with no real ingredients inside. The main meal of lamb jahl bhuna and the non existent garlic nan, summed this tasteless fayre up perfectly. Jahll bhuna is long standing favourite of mine and this one was so different from the others. For a start the dish was red in colour, not brown like in the past and had a severe lack of lamb, spices and it was missing this certain kick that a jahl bhuna should have. I’ve had better frozen Indian meals from Aldi, Infact I wondered if this dish had been a previously frozen dish which was store bought, such was the blandness of the taste. I’ve been going here for years and this is the worst I’ve ever had. I didn’t recognise any of the staff which makes me believe it is now under new ownership. The chef has definitely been changed and this can’t possibly be anything like the delta of old. As a curry connoisseur then this dish wasn’t at the races whatsoever. Had it been a race, then it should never have left the stalls. The whole meal was put in the bin. The delta is, or used to be one of the best around but if that is the standard Fayre served up these days then I feel it’s days are numbered as a roseburn establishment. As for the free garlic nan I’ve to collect next time, then sadly I have to report that there will be no next time. Please give the cost of the garlic nan, at £2.75 to charity in my absence.

Absolutely terrible, from the reheated frozen starters, to the incomplete order, I have to say that when we phoned to ask why there was items missing ,the response was almost calling us liers & they HAD put the missing food in with the order ,we spoke to a completely rude & arrogant member of staff , I am not normally one to complain (usually, just wouldn’t use again) .but I’m so annoyed I felt that this review was justified. This was the worst service I’ve EVER experienced. I hope that after this review we get an apology, We will NEVER place an order fro here again. Such a let down , I would advise that you go elsewhere for food , Anywhere else ,buy a microwave curry or skip dinner tonight!!! Anything would be better than this place . Cada vez que digo que no voy a volver, pero esta vez lo digo en serio. Broma absoluta. Cada vez. Llamada a pedido contado 50 minutos. Así que sube 50 minutos más tarde y espera 45 minutos. Aún no puedo decirme cuánto tiempo será.

I have eaten a lot of curries in my time and this is by far one of the best Indian takeaways that I have ever tried. Great for quality, taste, size and price, Delta delivers everything that you would hope for when you're in your time of need. The food is consistently fresh in taste and, unlike so many other restaurants, the meat is of an excellent standard. We generally purchase a takeout for a group of 5-8 and have tried a good selection from the menu. We have never been disappointed. My favourite dish is the Chicken Tikka Kebab (£6.95) which is deliciously soft and tender. The Lamb Pasanda (£6.95) isn't something that I'd ever choose but I tried someone else's leftovers and found that it was also great. Don't miss out on the side dishes; Tarka Dal and Brinzal Bhuna are perfect for mopping up with a piece of soft naan bread. Even the sad salads are pretty nice!Tip: Recently we've had punctual delivery but I think this is probably as a result of us ringing up earlier in the evening. Be aware that they can get very busy (leave an hour for delivery).Note: I would rate Delta a "5" if I wasn't benchmarking it against all restaurants.

This is the second time we've ordered from Delta. No problems the first time. My partner decided to pick up the order rather than wait so we ordered and were told to collect in 40 mins. He arrived exactly 40 minutes later and was told to take a seat. He then had to wait another 40 minutes for our food. Nobody apologised, nobody even offered him a cup of coffee - while a continual line of people duly turned up after their 40 minutes, picked up their takeaway and left. It's such a shame as the food is very good but without any kind of apology, we won't be going back. It's just downright rude to leave somebody sitting there without an explanation as to what happened to the order.

I've been ordering food at the Delta for the last ten years or so and I have never (ever) had a bad meal from them. The dishes they serve up are really tasty, great portion size and I've never had a sore stomach the next day (which is something that can't be said of other Indian deliveries in Edinburgh).I have a particular fondness of the Kathmandu Murgh, Ginger Murgh and Chilli Garlic Chicken. These are, for me, the best Indian curries I've had the pleasure of trying in many, if not most, Indian restaurants. The chefs in this place clearly know what they are doing and execute to a very high standard. I've danced around with many other takeaways in Edinburgh and whilst they may have certain plus points (usually service/delivery) none of them beat Delta in terms of food quality. None of them.Delta's only vice is its delivery service. It. Takes. So. Long. I've never had a delivery in under an hour with the norm being 90 minutes - it's certainly not fast food, it's good food. To be completely fair to the Delta, they *ALWAYS* tell you how long it's roughly going to take - their success is evident in the amount of orders they are delivering. The delivery guys they use are really polite and friendly - I've been seeing the same guy for the last 10 years! That being said, I've never had a delivery of food that has been cold, even after a 90-minute wait. My recommendation would be to get your order in early (clearly Friday & Saturday is the busiest) so you get the food on time. If you leave it to the last minute you could be enjoying your food very, very late.

So it's about time I wrote a review. There was a period of time when I went here at least once a week. It's less than that now, but I'd estimate it averages twice a month or so.I'd recommend it to anyone. The dishes are tasty without being overly hot and the portions are very generous. If you're a light eater, you could consider sharing one main between two, or you won't need to worry about what to have for dinner the next night.I do tend to have a main to myself, but occasionally we'll share one and have a side dish with one rice and a bread and it's plenty. If you like your food spicier, they're happy to make it hotter for you, but it's tastier and less harsh if you ask them to add fresh chillies t rather than chilli powder. Having said that, I've had both and I've never left any! They're also happy to substitute lamb or chiken tikka in heir curries for a small extra cost if you'd prefer. My faves are the Pathia, Madras and Chilli garlic chicken, but all their dishes are excellent. The mixed Tandoori is great too, but I usually prefer something with sauce.Oh dear, I've made myself hungry and it's only 4.30...

Ever since the Delta provided food for my wife's graduation celebration over 15 years ago, (over 60 people), and the staff were so helpful, we've enjoyed the food and are always welcomed by the friendly staff. If you want something a bit different - no problem. Gets very busy at weekends, always a good sign, so either arrange to collect or book an early delivery. We enjoy a good curry, and if we suggest to friends going for a curry, they always say - let's get a Delta!Big but very tasty portions mean we often put half in the freezer for midweek.Only drawback is the pakora - they've never quite perfected these! Find it hard to believe the other review, must have been a one-off, as we have never experienced poor food or value from this restaurant. Will continue to use the Delta - don't change - you've got it just right!!

I stopped off at this takeaway on the road home from some meetings in Edinburgh. It is a takeaway - no sit-down restaurant etc. I ordered a portion of pakora. It was £2.35 I think. I had left my reading glasses in the car so the price on the menu was fuzzy. The pakora arrived and I scuttled back to my car. On opening up the package I found five pieces of undercooked and greasy pakora. I found the eating unpleasant. I also found the value for money disgraceful. My local offer over 20 pieces of pakora for £3.00. On getting home I turned my change out of my pocket and counted it. I had given them a £10 note as I had no change whatsoever. The change I had in my pocket was less than expected. I had been short chaged as well.I cannot recommend this place less. Poor food, poor value, and staff that cannot handle money. Stay away.

Amazing food and fantastic service. We've visited twice and will be coming again next year, we live in Newcastle and certainly would travel up more regularly if we could just to come here!
