I stayed at the sweet room Delta Hotel in York, UK, On the night of our arrival, we handed over our laundry to the front desk for express service which was supposed to be ready by the next evening. However, by the time we checked out, we still hadn’t received our clothes. We were expecting to wear those clothes during our trip, and this situation put us in a very difficult position. What made it worse was that they didn’t even apologize. They just said "I don't know.." I entrusted my laundry to the hotel because I trusted they would take responsibility and return it properly. If they were going to lose the clothes, why did they put the laundry bags in the room??

The hotel was nice, but the odor in the hallways outside our room was disgusting. I'm not sure what the cause was, but the overwhelming smell was like a combination of mildew and vomit.

Very bad attitude and rude duty manager who is incharge. Despite being in the room and speaking to family members abroad we were told that we needed to whisper and speak or we would have to leave the property.

Staff are very friendly, beds are beyond comfy. Rooms are clean and tidy. They're also very accommodating- I have coeliac so need to be gluten free, no issue at all. GF food is made separately to everything else to avoid cross contamination. Can't recommend it enough

I recently stayed at the Delta Hotels by Marriott in York, and my overall impression was a mix of positives and negatives. The Good: Sauna and Steam Room: I thoroughly enjoyed the sauna and steam room. They were relaxing and well-maintained. Dinner at the Restaurant: The food was good, and the portions were generous. However, there weren’t many options for vegetarians or vegans. The Not-So-Good: Jacuzzi Disappointment: The jacuzzi was a letdown. It was inconsistent, turning on and off, and the bubbles only came from the bottom. I’m used to jacuzzis with back massage bubbles, so this was disappointing. Room Condition: While the hotel room was a good size and well-equipped, it was a bit dusty. I noticed dust on the radiator cabinets and windows. Noisy Night: Something incredibly loud disturbed my sleep during the night, making it difficult to rest. Overall Verdict: Despite the drawbacks, my stay was decent. However, considering the price, I expected more. If you’re looking for a convenient location near York’s attractions, the Delta Hotels by Marriott might be worth considering, but manage your expectations.

Beware of payments - ASK FOR CONFIRMATION Our stay at the hotel was nice. The rooms were comfortable but very hot. The air conditioning was not cold and the window did not open enough to let air in. There was also some form of engine that was incredible loud so we could not keep the window open when we needed to rest or sleep. The pool was nice and the gym well equipped. My disappointment came later when I got charged twice for my room (plus a £213 hold in my card - so a total of £546 for one night). They first charged me when I arrived and on departure. I thought the first one would just have been a hold but no, it turned out I got three charges on my card. On the day, they never told me the payment did not go through but they claim now it shows in their system as 'cancelled'. I have had to make a claim with my bank which will need to do the dispute on my behalf. They did release the hold on my card, but I am still owed £170. I talked to the manager to get a written proof of this 'cancellation' and what she was claiming, but still have not received the email she promised. They had problems with the systems when I arrived, so please get confirmation or receipts of any payments you make in the moment. Safe is to say, I am never coming back!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Me and my boyfriend booked to stay for 3 nights. Parking costs £7 a day which isn’t advertised anywhere on their website! Our first room consisted of 2 single beds pushed together with 2 separate mattresses. The whole room is very dated. We went to reception and asked if this was standard as the photos on the website show one mattress on all beds. They got us another room which had no air con and 3 out of 4 lights not working. The safe was also locked shut. It took them over half an hour to bring a fan to our room and said there is no air con in any rooms despite the first room having it! It’s also extortionate prices for food and drink at their bar. We have ended up getting it refunded and going to the Holiday Inn York 5 mins down the road instead. Here we have working air con, a bigger fresher room and the on site bar is a decent price. They accommodated us last minute for a cheaper price whilst giving us more- even free drinks vouchers! Save your money and book the holiday inn

Lovely stay in The Presidential Suite with balcony overlooking the race course. Bathroom a bit dated otherwise a lovely room. For us a great location just outside of the City, lovely and peaceful, staff were amazing, everyone helpful and pleasant especially the reception staff. Great breakfast with lots of choice in the lovely spacious restaurant. A short bus ride into the City right outside the hotel at regular intervals.

The A/C was/is not working and it is only blowing hot air. It was informed at the reception a couple of times but no action. Then the solution given was a couple ice buckets and to open the window. But the window could only be open for about 10cm, so no big help. After not being too satisfied with this solution as the room was boiling the receptionist managed to find a mobile A/C. For the check out I was supposed to get the invoice via email, but never got it, weird as being a member of marriott they system has all my data. Looking on the bright side, the host for the breakfast was a very attentive, and hospitable lady from Portugal. The hotel is well connected with a bus stop nearby that takes you to the city center in about 15-20mins for 2 pounds

Rooms nice and spacious. Bathrooms look slightly dated with the bathtub being quite narrow when showering. The restaurant/bar had a weird smell, a strong fishy smell. No mini fridge was provided, in the room. The ironing board had brown stains. Parking is not free, £7 a day. No drinking water provided daily in the rooms. Bed was not comfortable, very springy and unstable.

Fabulous hotel with fantastic staff. I stayed with friends and family weekend of 23rd March 2024. I had a birthday party in the Classics Function Room. I couldn't fault anything. Samantha ran the event perfectly, the room looked fabulous. Buffet superb, hot and well presented. Excellent room 031, bed comfy , bathroom amenities brilliant, very spotlessly clean. Breakfast was second to none, piping hot, lots of choices and great staff. Thank you again for a wonderful time

The manager will not leave any chance to make your stay exlerience great, on the day of our anniversery when we came back delicious cup cakes were waiting for us in the room, wonderful surpsise. The larking is decently charged and has enough space. The pool, sauna, jacuzzi and steam rooms are included with the room rent, towels are provided and it makes your stay experience ever better. Me and my partner booked the superior room at this hotel as a nice little getaway between our birthdays. We were really looking forward to our visit as this would've been a nice fancy stay for us. We were not informed prior to booking that we would need to pay for parking nor the price of parking for the duration of our stay. Additionally, there were multiple problems with the room itself such as; the main heating in the room did not work and was instead replaced with 2 plug-in heaters, there were mechanical noises (we assumed from the lift) all night which made sleeping very difficult, the turn lock on the main door did not work and we had to just use the chain lock. As well as the above, the window was very drafty and couldn't be properly closed and was held into the window frame with tape. We were told at check in that there would be scaffolding outside some of the rooms however, it was not specified that our room would have the scaffolding outside which meant we had to keep the curtains closed during the day so that any workers could not see into our room. We also couldn't see what program was playing on the TV and it only showed which channel was playing, very frustrating when trying to find something to watch to drown out the aforementioned noises. We were encouraged to have the daily turndown service which we did not receive and we had to ask the front desk for fresh towels at least twice. We very much enjoyed using the leisure facilities however these were also not without their problems. The changing rooms weren't the cleanest and there were no changing cubicles, one of the showers by the pool did not work and the other was held together with tape. The general pool area itself needed to be cleaned more often and the pool had gravel/ sand in the corners. The stay was decent and the bed was very comfortable, the staff were nice and did apologise for the lack of turndown service and promptly brought us fresh towels. Not the best value for money in our opinion and was advertised as much better than what we received. Would not say this worth our money of £303.

Tried for the first time, will be ordering again. Delivery was an hour and a half but I didn't mind as it's hard to find a good Chinese in york that does delivery. Salt and pepper chicken was PERFECT!! The only thing I would say was the chicken curry could of been a little thicker. But everything was fresh and the chow mein was really good.

Been here many times before with no issues at all, but this particular visit frustrated me due to one member of staff who was chatting way too much while on shift. The middle-aged woman is short, with brown curly hair and brown eyes. She was chatting with the customer before me since I stepped in the shop. I had to wait nearly 5 minutes for her to eventually take his order and then she asks another member of staff (middle-aged man with brown hair and beard) to take my order. He puts my toastie in the oven and promptly and politely takes my order. A few minutes later my toastie is done and the woman is still chatting away with the customer before me while making his drinks. I'd say I had to wait a further 6-7 minutes for her to finish his 2 drinks before she even starts on mine (There was also another lady behind me also now who had ordered and waiting at this point too). The customer before me had ordered a mocha with full fat milk and used what was left of that to make my hazelnut latte when I didn't ask to have whole milk in mine. I politely ask her to remake it with semi-skimmed because I didn't ask for full fat milk. She starts remaking my latte and then 2 other ladies walk up to her and start chatting with her and distracting her, causing her to forget to add the hazelnut syrup I paid extra for. I waited probably about 12-15 minutes in total to finally get my order and sit down when it usually only takes no more than 5. I don't have a problem with staff being friendly with customers, (I work in hospitality myself) but don't let it affect the speed of service to other customers that are waiting and causing you to get orders wrong and using the wrong milk. If it were another customer with an allergy or intolerance and hadn't noticed what was put in their drink it could have been a risk to their health.
