Walked about 10 minutes from the beach as this chippy had the best reviews. Quite disappointed. Extremely overpriced. Paid over £30 for 2 fish and chips (1 small 1 med) with 2 cans of pop and 2 sauces. The medium cod was the size I'd expect of a small and the small was the size of a battered sausage! Tiny portions. To make it even worse we waited ages for our food as we were told they'd shout out our order number but didn't tell us it'd be from a window around the corner. We waited for about 15 minutes just outside the door until we thought to look around the corner. When we saw the window and asked if our food had been called out, they didn't have our order and the system went down ( no fault of their own) so we had to reorder and wait again! No apology made and disappointing portions at a high price left us with a bitter taste in our mouths. Edit: upon emailing the company as requested in their below comment I was thanked for my feedback and received an apology. Not sure why that couldn't be done on here rather than wasting my time with an email....

Staff were friendly and helpful, I believe that there names were Amy and Reg. They both work really hard. The best fish and chips I have ever eaten. Highly recommended

Ordered 2 Lunches today, really enjoyed our meal. The service from Matthew was great, food didn’t take too long and the benches outside, made it an all round great experience.

Top staff and food, decent portion size and good quality cooked well. The only shortcoming was the screens being out so you couldn't see the price of anything or what was on offer, luckily the lads working there knew their stuff Will definitely come again

It's a chippy on the sea front, not where Google Maps sends you.. The fish and chips were OK, but not a patch on my local. You might have to pay £2 plus for parking if you are going to wait.

Good food I had the chicken pieces and chips, and they was perfect

I payed for 2 large cods, but I got fish that was the size of small cods.And we got burned chips and we could taste the burning oil. Additionally, I added some vinegar but in the end, the cardboard box became wet and broke but none of the vinegar was tasted on chips. I've went to lots of different beaches before, and none of them were this bad quality.

Delicious fish and chips and so wonderful to sit outside in the sunshine with the sea air blowing past. Matt is so helpful and always has a smile so we always make it a point to call-in and stop whenever we can and buy some delicious lunch. Thank you

I've had superb fish and chips from here before, sadly some days it can be truly awful, you never know which you're going to get, today was a low point, the fish was so overcooked it had the texture of chicken and 8 think the chips had been refried, it was truly awful and most ended up in the bin, it wasn't even busy so there's really no excuse for overcooking like that, I won't be returning, the guy serving was friendly so 2 stars

I'm not sure if it was because they'd sold out a lot of the menu, or were cleaning down to close .. but the 'large fish' and chips resembled fried Nemo and chips, portions were ridiculous. Id love to share a picture but I can't seem to.

Ordered kids meal and a large portion of chips. Kids meal was good value, but chips were ridiculously small portion! For almost the same price of a kids meal, the bag of chips was the size of the kids meal box. Terrible value.

Bought small reduced portions and sat outside to eat them. Very helpful staff and not too busy daytimes. Good place!

The best Fish & Chips in town !!! I had one of the best fish (haddock) and chips with mash peas and a drink included in the manager’s menu for just £10! The highest quality for the lowest price in comparison to other competitors in the local area. Bless the guy who was the only one working there, assuming the manager, he was super sweet and welcoming to me and my friend. Very friendly place and atmosphere. However, as it gets colder during this time of the year, the dining area could be a bit sheltered to protect from the cold wind. Nevertheless, definitely coming back for more in the near future!

We just been to grab a bag chips whilst walking the dog, nothing too much or too small for this guy, Charlie, who served me today in Deep Blue on Clarence Esplanade. What a lovely warm welcoming guy, and we get to sit outside and taste his chips right - they are so hot and delicious! Can never find good chip shop chips around here, definitely best chips ever! The dog might need another walk around tea time, thank you Charlie! 😉

Very small overcooked portions - Rip off!

Not impressed with price when l could literally count the chips in the box. And no serviettes.

Been there again today (15 Aug 2024) at around 4 pm. Just wanted to repeat the sentiments in my previous review - whole family thought meal and service was great. Made an otherwise grey and windy day out in Southsea a brill ending. Truly scummy yummy fish and chips for the adults and this time sausages and chicken dippers for the kids. Many thanks. And to Repeat - Never let me down for fresh quality, taste and crunch - cod, batter or chips, all just yum. Has to be first choice on the prom at Southsea. Its a chain and I speak here only of the shop near the marine museum to the west of the coach park adjacent that museum. No cover to eat when it rains is about the only, but minor, down side.

Wow, what can I say. Always prompt on serving up the best fish and chips in town. If the food didn’t steal the show the manager definitely did. Bring your whole family down for a great day by the sea :)

Large chips with curry sauce was delicious, and the staff worked so hard on a extremely busy Sunday

Awful experience. Ordered at a busy time, staff were rude, waited ages for our food. Fish burger was given to us basically still raw completely inedible, pie under cooked, chips ok but nothing special, battered sausage with the smallest amount of batter and curry sauce solid. Really, really disappointing especially considering what we paid.

Uninterested staff, poor attitude and nothing cooked despite a queue of customers. Food to be fair was cooked to a good standard. But overall a disappointing experience due to unenthusiastic staff and a long wait as nothing was precooked.

First of, managers special they are advertising for £9.99. They said the deal isn't available then why advertise it with the menu?? The same deal cost £15 which then came to £30 for X2. Waited for over 40 mins for my meal. Small portion, food quality poor. Just avoid. Can't believe it has as high ratings as it has... Maybe location?? Rip off.

Absolutely crazy! A 40 minute wait for two chips and 1 regular cod. Warm Coke Zero and chips were horrible - not cooked properly and fish was cremated! What a waste of £20! Avoid.

Stopped off on father’s Day after a drive down to southsea common. Possibly the worst Scampi and chips I’ve ever had. The potatoes used were awful and shall we say, “well cooked.” The scampi was very dry. Will certainly not be returning in the future.

Came down to get a chip supper and was met by Charlie who hands down made this one of the best experiences of my life kind, honest and friendly Charlie made sure we knew how long we’d be waiting for our Food and then Proceeded to cook to order our supper which was hands down the best piece of fish I’ve ever had it’s people like Charlie who make a business stand out and I for sure will definitely be back

I just want to thank the chap who helped us out yesterday. We were a little early but my husband is a diabetic and needed some food and something to drink. I’m sorry to say I didn’t get this young mans’ name but he went above and beyond to sort us out. Thank you so much. Oh and it was the best fish and chips I’ve ever had because instead of salt, it was sprinkled with kindness. 🥰

The food was disgusting. I paid a good money for a medium piece of fish that was the size of a small.it was stone cold probably because it was left to go cold on the side before actually calling us.not enough staff to serve customers so all around Rubbish certainly won't be eating here again.

Best fish and chips I've had in a while. They didn't have much left as we arrived towards the end of the day so they cooked our order up fresh while we walked the dog. Amazing service!

Me and my bestmate were having THE MOST chaotic day, until we decided to stop for some fish and chips. I was ready to give up for the day but not only did Charlie (the manager) give us 50% off and a free drink for our journey home AND charged my phone whilst we ate our food but he also made sure we left with a smile. Thank you so much. You made our day, possibly even our week or month or year.

Me and my bestmate ended up having a really chaotic day up until we came to deep blue, the manager Charlie (who served us) was beyond delightful. The food was amazing just by itself but the service was incredible, we both left with a smile on our face and satisfied with our food, couldn’t have done it with out Charlie(ey)

OK if you've got over an hour to wait for something to eat, definitely one of the slowest chip shops I've ever been to.

Decent fish and chips and reasonable price. Nice outdoor space to have it too.
