Sadly they had no haddock. But the cod we had was tasty and plentiful. Staff coping well with Covid restrictions at the moment as weather is good but as customers have to wait outside once order is placed, could be a problem in wet weather. But food is well worth the wait

Horrible experience. The morbid excuse for a human being who greeted front of house made me want to slit my wrists on entry. We chose this restaurant because it was participating in the Eat Out/Help out scheme & we checked online prior to arriving to confirm It was. Turns out its not! When asked why despite advertIsing otherwise there was a very lame and unclear excuse that it was only for eating in the restaurant...which was closed. I explained that my understanding was that if you don’t offer an eat in service yet partake in the scheme then its still perfectly valid e.g. KFC, Starbucks etc etc. She mumbled something about only two of them on that night so they didn’t open the restaurant then walked off. Then had to wait 15mins whilst they put the order in as nothing seemed to be ready except chips, so don’t bother coming here if you’re looking for a quick turnaround when ordering fish. Only reason I’m not giving 1 star is that the large Haddock was massive and pretty tasty - but still a horrible start to a holiday. Will never go back, much better to cross the road and go the the Riverside pub

I’ve been here a few times over the years and the food has always been a hit or miss thing, I went on Saturday for the first time since lockdown, the food was bloody amazing, freshly cooked and big portions, it wasn’t greasy at all! The staff were lovely and friendly, the place was very clean, the shop was very busy with a line out the door, one person called Sharon was cooking, the wait wasn’t long and Sharon took it in her stride with the amount of people and the food was still lovely, she had everything under control, so fair play! Will be coming back if she is working again, thank you very much!!!

Absolutely awful worst fish and chips we’ve ever had! We had to wait 25 minutes for two cod and one chips. After at first being overcharged ( staff didn’t listen to our order properly) we then sat and waited and observed many orders get messed up customers walking out and staff not being able to cope. Finally after receiving food we get it back to find one cod is more like a sardine tiny and dry and the other “ bigger” bit was all batter and the chips were dry and tough all in all it was £13 wasted and we have been left hungry. Like I said worst ever will not use again and advise others to stay clear too !!

We turned up expecting to order our meal, having checked their web site, which states they do rock fish and gluten free fish, on arrival, we were created by a woman who had a couldn’t care less attitude, when asked for rock, I was told don’t do that anymore, next we asked for gluten free fish, no don’t do that, only on a Sunday, her attitude was so rude that we left the shop and I would recommend everyone else does the same, also they need to undate their web site to show the correct items sold and when gluten free is available, as there is an order on line facility and collect... would I go there again No and no.

I went to Deep Blue last night and despite the food being good, the customer service was terrible. The entire time I was waiting (about 20 minutes), the 2 girls working were non stop talking about how they didn’t want to work past their rota time and about how nothing was their problem come 5 minutes when their shift ended. Its so wrong to talk loudly and boast about how you will not work past your due time no matter what, walking round and talking as if you don’t care or want to be there gives your customers an awful impression. It may only be a chip shop but you still need to treat it as a workplace and not a social club. I felt almost intimidated to be in there whilst they discussed how staff weren’t there on time and that they couldn’t wait to leave. Also, walking round with a fag in your mouth behind the counter is quite vile, considering not once in the 20 minutes I was there did I see any gloves worn or hands washed!! Sadly I don’t think I’ll be returning again as I don’t think the atmosphere was friendly at all. It was like walking through a group of youths in a park - no awareness of anything but themselves.

What a terrible place. Staff had no idea and were rude 8 customers were a nuisance. Refused to let us sit refused to let us use the toilets. Half the portions were undercooked, all were exceptionally small and overpriced. Should have known as all the other chip shops were very very busy and this one was empty. never ever go there again we'd rather go hungry.

First of all- the staff didnt have a clue what they were doing Overpriced for the quality of food just received. Thirdly, my friend and I both found a black hair in our chips which resembled neither of our hair so will be demanding a refund. Would not recommend - I would recommend tickets which is a five minute walk up the road.

Having just bought two lots of sausage and chips I was disgusted to find that the sausage was totally undercooked and the batter was more white than yellow. I genuinely feel that had we eaten this we would have been very poorly. We took it back to the shop for a refund which was promptly given. Never again for us...

Drizzling with rain, not many shops open due to the time of year ( between Christmas and New Year), the open tea rooms were busy and we just wanted a snack so we opted for a bag of chips to eat in the car and a coffee. I was amazed at the low cost of two coffees and two portions of chips, a little over £4. I can't fault the chips but the coffee could have been better. Friendly staff and while waiting for the chips, I popped to the ladies. The restaurant area was busy and looked inviting. Another time, we'll stay for a meal.

The food here was freshly cooked and tasted great. The service was excellent. Two guys that served were both really friendly and polite. Would recommend the salt and pepper squid.

We arrived in Cheddar after a long drive and fancied fish and chips. We popped in here to get our food. The chips were very soggy and the staff seemed disgruntled that they had to serve us.

This fish and chip shop is just before the bridge on the gorge road. My husband has had fish and chips here twice. The fish is good, the chips are very soggy, not sure if they are meant to be like this or need cooked more, but they are good too.

Great food and I'm very fussy about my fish and chips. I've been so disappointed by other similar fare in the past from other establishments. We all had something different. Coated prawns, savaloy and I had the fish. All was freshly cooked, piping hot and...

What the heck has happened to this place? Cod was ok, chips were awful, expensive for such poor quality and quantity. Customer service poor - this place has majorly gone downhill. It used to be great - has it recently changed hands? Much better alternatives...

Stumbled across this place and is now my favourite place!!!!! The place bought a smile to my face as soon as I walked in! Yes it's old in every sense of the word but it bought back memories of going to such places as a kid with my parents. Wish there were more places like this and less of the pretentious ones that pretend to be something they are not. Home cooked food by the lovely landlady and amusing banter with the landlord. Wish it was closer to become my local!!!!!

Ok if you like microwave ping food. Pub has ample parking and is in a good location in the beautiful village of Cheddar. Staff were friendly pub looked clean however food was really poor. Some items were not available which I know can't be helped, what we did have was awful and sadly would not return for food. Sad really as its in a perfect spot.

Awful ! Overpriced ... poor service ! No meals except pastries .... a sausage roll was £6.95 ! I know it's a National Trust and we are members I agree they do a great deal of good. However, with such a prime seaside spot .... loads of families on the beach ...they should offer normal seaside food and priced! We had a coffee and a slice of cake and it came to £20 for 2 of us. Families are struggling at the moment. I can't understand why they don't offer traditional seaside food like a bag of chips, ice creams, lollies, milk shakes etc. They have a prime spot with a captive audience as its the only cafe at Brean down. Felt very dissapointed it could be so much improved !.... prices are Ridiculous !!!!! Service is bad you order then go to another partcto collect , no please or thank you ! I think they love dogs more than people !
