Deep Blue Baldock in North Hertfordshire

Just had food from here. The chips weren’t even cooked properly still hard. Forgot the curry sauce. The battered sausage wasn’t fresh. Won’t be buying from here again. This isn’t the cheapest either

Freshly cooked to order and only one member of staff. Perfect portion size crispy batter chips just right, paid less half price at a motorway service station than my local chippy and far superior quality

I guess the *Deep Blue* refers mainly to the attitude/mood of the people that bring you your food. I was going to say the people who serve your food but there was no service here. The female that took my money was particularly rude. Please and Thank you more any other polite words are definitely not in her vocabulary. A word to the employer. ... Employ people who want to be there. A word to the employee ... Find job that more suits your personality .. traffic warden perhaps. .

My wife and I went there whilst on the way to an appointment further down the A1. The service was great and friendly. The food itself was actually rather food, being so far inland you'd expect fish food to be average but the fish here seemed fresh and was well cooked. Just be careful as it is very hot!

Great service,fish was cooked fresh,best fish and chips I've had in years.Not greasy battery was crisp chips were few so could have had more,worth the price and waiting a couple of minutes for it to be cooked, definitely come back.

We were served by a lovely guy called Liam he is professional and friendly and the food was amazing, freshly cooked and not too much batter on the fish. Would definitely recommend

Easy ordering, freshly prepared, great service

I arrived here on Good Friday to find 2 people working. I ordered on the screens and then proceeded to wait approximately 40 mins for scampi and chips and a large chips. Then I sat down to eat the food and it was cold!! I took it back and asked for a new lot of scampi to wait a further 20 minutes for it to be ready. After being told it would be a further 5 mins for the new lot There wasn’t much of an apology from the people that work there and there was other customers waiting longer than me! The staff seemed to be doing the smaller orders first which left alot of people with big orders waiting a long time. Although not the staffs fault for being shorted staffed it’s still a bit of a joke, 1 hour+ for scampi and chips and a large chips. There was no real concern for the wait times by the staff at all. Even though the food was good still the waiting times are not acceptable.

If you're hungry, Deep Blue is a good place to get that sorted

Jonny is an absolute unit and incredible at serving, will be coming back and would definitely recommend for top tier chips. Once again Johnny deserves a fat raise

The staff at Deep Blue were incredibly friendly and created a fun atmosphere. The chips were perfectly crisp, and the fish was cooked to perfection - succulent and flavorful. But the true stars were the staff! They went above and beyond, with a special shout-out to the friendly guy who served us. We were laughing all the way home – thanks for making our meal so enjoyable!

Service station food. Fish was obviously frozen. It was overcooked, hard and woolly in texture. One piece of fish was a bit too long for the box, so they broke it in half to fit it in! Threw most of it away.

Had some lovely fish. It's fried to order, so it's fresh and hot. The sausage has nice seasoning 👌 Helpful staff. The only thing that could've been better were the chips. They seemed a bit average.

I go every Friday to buy a seniors cod, chips and mushy peas for an elderly relative as weekly treat. I am always met by a friendly team, who are welcoming and always smiling. The young Irish server is always smiling, polite and friendly. The fish is always freshly cooked and a generous scoop of chips. Food is really good quality and tasty. I have also taken my children a few times and they claim the chicken nuggets are "the best they have ever eaten". I would say this is by far the best chippy in Letchworth

Flipping love this place! Super friendly staff and amazing food, always well cooked and delish! Liam and Michael are the absolute dream team! So efficient and unflappable.

Fancied fish and chips so gave this place a try and it wasn't busy. I had fish and chips, hubby a pie and chip butty. Opened my box, the 1st thing I noticed was how many chips had rotten black bits on them more than half, the fish was like rubber. Pie was OK but the roll was dry and with the rotten chips, was inedible, what a waste of nearly £19, was disgusting! No one to complain to, just a young guy at the back doing the frying, avoid at all costs!!

Freshly cooked when I ordered , £6.99 special offer as shown in the sign board. While collecting server asked do I want some salt or vinegar? I seen tomato ketchup bottle next to him as asked for tomato ketchup instead. He said it’s optional extra charge for some squeeze on top of the fish Didn’t knew that ketchup need to pay extra, if anyone fancy with ketchup or chilli sauce so next time please bring your own.

Very good for indeed, especially for a service area. I really did not expect such high quality. Very good fish, reasonable price as well. Service slow, we ordered in shop, one on the electronic terminal and one at the till and on 3 times others got there food before us, it felt like the orders were out of sync. But it did was hot and fresh and I would most certainly go back again.

Very friendly staff. Quick food. Good menu selection for all ages (kids menu, senior special). Extremely clean. Baldock services has a large open space with a nice buzz to sit and eat or, if you're local, (like me), you can get your food to takeaway, when no other local chippies are open on a Sunday night!

The salt and pepper squid was amazing, so delicious and soft. The chicken wings were so tasty and the service was excellent.

Had fish and chips twice now from the Deep Blue Restaurant and cannot fault it. Really enjoyed the food both times, quick and friendly service.

Visited sunday 10 September 2023. Great food no complaints. Will visit again and again. Considering you'd spend £20 plus at one of the other eateries this is worth the extra cash to have a stomach filling meal. Will definitely be back.
